Mrs. Berland was born Mary Arpin on April 7, 1918, in Damar. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Urich, in 1983; and six grandchildren.

Survivors include seven sons, Gilbert and Tim, both of Damar, Gary of Smithville, Va., Stephen of Manhattan, Mark of Poquoson, Va., Reginal of Evergreen, Colo., and Terry of Lebo; five daughters, Carol Gordinaier of Derby, Deanna Normandin of Poquoson, Va., Susan German of Independence, Mo., Lucinda Moore of Orlando, Fla., and Laura Weatherly of Kitty Hawk, N.C.; a brother, Alfred Arpin of Damar; two sisters, Duetta LaPlante of Missiouri and Virginia Thyfault of Damar; 41 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Damar. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

A Christian wake will be at 7:30 p.m. today at the church.

Memorials may be made for Masses or to St. Joseph Catholic Church Restoration Fund.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Spencer-Stinemetz Chapel 522 N. Pomeroy, Hill City 67642, and from 9 a.m. until the service Wednesday at the church.

Florence A. Bogart
ABILENE -- Florence A. Bogart, 91, Abilene, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004.
Carlson-Becker Funeral Home, Solomon, is handling arrangements.

Ival Charles Brabec
Washington -- Ival Charles Brabec, 80, Washington, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004.
Mr. Brabec was born Jan. 24, 1924, in Narka. He was a farmer and stockman.

Survivors include his wife, D. June of Washington; four sons, Daniel of Manhattan, and James, Jeff and Thomas, all of Greenleaf; three sisters, Evelyn Brabec of Danville, Ark., Olga Voss of Eau Claire, Wis., and Alice Schwab of Washington; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Washington. Burial will be in Washington City Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.

There will be no visitation.

LINCOLN -- Kathleen M. Buttenhoff, 74, Lincoln, died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004.

William James "Bill" Carter
SUPERIOR, Neb. -- William James "Bill" Carter, 72, Superior, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004.
Mr. Carter was born Feb. 17, 1932, in Marysville, Tenn. He retired as a mechanic for Dub Johnson and Sons.

Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Watts and husband Brian of Salina, Kan.; and two grandchildren, Nicholas Watts and Jennifer Watts, both of Salina.

A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. Inurnment will be in Culver Union Cemetery, Culver, Kan.

Memorials may be made to Bill Carter Memorial Fund.

There will be no visitation.

Margaret P. Crawford, 69, Salina, died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004.

WaKEENEY -- Esther Marie Dietz, 83, WaKeeney, died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004.
Mrs. Dietz was born Esther Marie Phares on Jan. 2, 1921, in Trego County. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Fred G. of the home; a son, Dennis Allen of Polk City, Iowa; a daughter, Vicki Lynn Krehbiel of Dighton; a brother, Ernest Phares of Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters, Margaret Dietz of Garden City and Helen McCoy of Augusta; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, WaKeeney. Burial will be in WaKeeney City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital, in care of Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 N. 12th, WaKeeney 67672.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Ruth E. Doak
CONCORDIA -- Ruth E. Doak, 102, Concordia, died Nov. 2, 2004.
Mrs. Doak was born Ruth E. Freeman on June 19, 1902, near Kirwin. She was a retired teacher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley, in 1975.

Survivors include three nieces, Sue Baumann of Mukwonago, Wis., and Meuriel Nystrom of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Donna Bozarth of Salina; and a nephew, Dr. John Freeman of Spokane, Wash.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Concordia. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia.

Memorials may be made to the Harley and Ruth Doak Music Scholarship, Fort Hays State University, Girl Scouts of Concordia, First United Methodist Church or Sunset Home, Concordia.

Juanita Farmer
Juanita Farmer, 81, Salina, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004.
Mrs. Farmer was born Juanita Fuller on March 29, 1923, in Salina. She worked for Weeks Grocery Store, Salina, for 11 years and was a day-care provider in the Salina area until retirement.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Lee, in 1991; and a son, John Lee Jr., in 1951.

Survivors include a son, Gary and wife Carol of Salina; a daughter, Shirley Blanton of Salina; six grandchildren, Cindy Necaise of Rehoboth, Del., John Farmer of San

Ramon, Calif., and Leslie

Velasquez, Chad Farmer and Brenda Cornelius-Bowser, all of Salina, and Judy Brewer of Castalian Springs, Tenn.; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina, with the Rev. Nancy Crowl officiating. Burial will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Grand Avenue United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 6

to 8 p.m.

John W. Goering
MOUNDRIDGE -- John W. Goering, 96, Moundridge, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004.
Mr. Goering was born Oct. 15, 1908, in rural Moundridge. He was a teacher, coach and principal for 41 years, retiring as high school principal in the McPherson School District.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes A.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen Goering Hostetler of Kansas City, Kan.; two sons, Randy of McPherson and Steven of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Lorene Stucky of Moundridge and Lillie Cullar of North Lima, Ohio; a brother, Martin H. of Moundridge; six grandchildren; and five great-grand-children.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Mennonite Church, McPherson. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in McPherson Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to First Mennonite Church, McPherson, in care of Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home, 222 W. Euclid, McPherson 67460.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Lorraine B. Hadsell
MARION -- Lorraine B. Hadsell, 95, Marion, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004.
Mrs. Hadsell was born Oct. 4, 1909, in Ashland. She was a teacher, banker and owner of a craft store.

She was preceded in death by her husband, LaVern.

Survivors include a daughter, Louise Colburn of Marion; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Marion Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Marion Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Church, St. Luke Hospital or Marion Historical Museum.

There will be no visita-

tion. The casket will remain closed.

Kevin Christopher Jones
SAN ANTONIO -- Kevin Christopher Jones, 45, San
Antonio, formerly of Phillipsburg, Kan., died Nov. 2, 2004.

Mr. Jones was born Oct. 19, 1959, at Fort Bliss, El Paso. He worked for Data Point in San Antonio for 18 years.

Survivors include his wife, Kellie of San Antonio; a

son, Kirk of San Antonio; a daughter, Kimberly Garcia

of San Antonio; his parents, Ted and Yvonne Jones of Salina, Kan.; two sisters, Jennifer Reling of Beloit, Kan., and Melinda Walmsley of Minneapolis, Kan.; and two grandchildren.

Private memorial services were in San Antonio and Russell, Kan. A private family burial was held in Russell City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made

to the American Heart Association or the charity of the donor's choice, in care of Pohlman-Heise Mortuary

Hazel Irene Lloyd
GREEN -- Hazel Irene Lloyd, 86, Green, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004.
Mrs. Lloyd was born Hazel Irene Sanneman on March 7, 1918, in Clay County. She was a teacher at Bunker Hill and Idywild schools and worked in food service for the Clay Center School District for 14 years, retiring in 1984.

She was preceded in death by a son, Steve.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth of Green; a daughter, Cheryl Lloyd of Atlanta, Ga.; a son, Richard of Palmer; two grandchildren; a stepgrandchild; two great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Clay Center. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center.

Memorials may be made to Fact United Methodist Church, Gideon Society or Meadowlark Hospice.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home, 918 Seventh, Clay Center 67432, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m.

Reba May Melton
HEBRON, Neb. -- Reba May Melton, 95, Hebron, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004.
Mrs. Melton was born Reba May Laney on Sept. 23, 1909, in Belvidere.

Her husband, Ellis Robert, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Melton-Torre of Golden, Colo.; two stepchildren, Bryan Torre of Charlotte, S.C., and Kristine "Claire" Torre of Burbank, Calif.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church, Hebron. Burial will be in Belvidere City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, Hebron.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Price Funeral Home, 210 S. Third, Hebron, NE 68370.

Helen F. Pearce
CONCORDIA -- Helen F. Pearce, 91, Concordia, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004.
Mrs. Pearce was born Helen F. Palmer on May 27, 1913, in Miltonvale. She was a substitute teacher in the Miltonvale area and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, and a son, Clinton.

Survivors include a daughter, Laurine Slaughter of Concordia; two sons, Lynn of Pearland, Texas, and Raymond of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; two sisters, Pauline Meek and Dorothy Nickels, both of Clay Center; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at First Christian Church, Concordia. Burial will be in Miltonvale Cemetery.

Maxine L. Sawyer
WaKEENEY -- Maxine L. Sawyer, 88, WaKeeney, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004.
Mrs. Sawyer was born Maxine L. Price on July 1, 1916, in Ellis. She taught sewing for Singer Sewing Co.

She was preceded in death by a stepson, Charles Sawyer.

Survivors include her husband, Lionel B. of the home; two sons, Charles Martin of Harrisonburg, Va., and Ross Flippin of Rochester, Minn.; two daughters, Opal Broadway of Wichita and Rachel Scott of Green River, Wyo.; two stepdaughters, Jennifer Lehman of Washington and Sheila Sawyer Tyler of Topeka; 14 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Christ the King Catholic Church, WaKeeney. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Sunset Memory Gardens, Leavenworth.

A wake will be at 7 p.m. today at Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 N. 12th, WaKeeney 67672.

Memorials may be made to Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital Endowment or for Masses.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Frieda Schlotthauer
HILLSBORO -- Frieda Schlotthauer, 94, Hillsboro, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004.
Mrs. Schlotthauer was born Frieda Batthauer on Dec. 21, 1909, in Bunker Hill. She was a homemaker.

Her husband, Herman R., died in 1986.

Survivors include a daughter, LaNorma Kreutziger of Marion; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Strassburg Baptist Church. Burial will be in Marion Cemetery.
