BELOIT - James H. "Jim" Reiter, 95, Beloit, died Friday, May 13, 2005.

Mr. Reiter was born March 18, 1910, near Beloit. He was owner of Reiter Land Co., Beloit.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet.

Survivors include a daughter, June Hill of Asherville; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Catholic Church, Beloit. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.

A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at McDonald Funeral Home, 910 N. Campbell, Beloit 67420.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Memorial Trust Fund or a charity of the donor's choice.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Francis Scassellati
RADLEY - Francis Scassellati, 83, Radley, died Thursday, May 12, 2005.

Mr. Scassellati was born Oct. 26, 1921, in Radley. He was the owner and operator of True Art Painting and Interiors for many years and also worked for Crawford County as a painter, retiring in 1986. He was a World War II veteran and received three bronze service stars. He was a member of the VFW, George C. Brown American Legion Post 26 and the Eagles.

Survivors include a daughter, Carla Scassellati Strand of Salina; and a niece, Jeannine Antonetti of rural Pittsburg.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Friskel Funeral Home, 230 E. McKay, Frontenac, the Rev. Verl Strong officiating. Burial will be in National Cemetery, with George C. Brown American Legion Post 26 providing flag folding rites.

Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.

John E. Schneider
PHILLIPSBURG - John E. Schneider, 85, Phillipsburg, died Friday, May 13, 2005.

Mr. Schneider was born May 30, 1919, in Lincoln County, Colo. He worked for Co-Op Oil Refinery.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel; three sons, James L. Schneider of Tecumseh, Okla., Victor V. Randolph of Abilene and John J. Randolph of Joplin, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, 1115 Second, Phillipsburg 67661. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Phillips County Hospital Hospice Room.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and before the service Tuesday at the chapel.

Lela Belle Silver
Lela Belle Silver, 93, Salina, formerly of Abilene, died Sunday, May 8, 2005.

Mrs. Silver was born Aug. 21, 1911, in Dickinson County, to Fred and Carrie (Raffensberger) Felbush. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1931. She married Eldon Morley Silver on Jan. 7, 1940, in Salina. They owned and operated Silver Plumbing and Heating for many years. She was a 4-H community leader both in Dickinson and Saline counties, a member of Silver Spur and Tescott Saddle Clubs, an officer of Professional Credit Women of Salina and a member of Career Club and secretary/treasurer of the Jolly Mixers. She enjoyed homemaking, music and dancing. Over the years, she had worked for Acme Telephone Company, Silver Plumbing and Heating, Waddle Plumbing and Heating, King's Fabrics, Scotty's Restaurant and Fields Pharmacy. Before her retirement in 2002, she was one of Wal-Mart's eldest greeters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon; and a sister, Alvena Schmolzi.

Survivors include a son, Fred and wife Jessie of El Dorado; two daughters, Regina Troxell and husband Wayne of Oak View, Calif., and Darlene Bryant of Dundee, Mich.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, (Arthur) Dean Felbush of Abilene; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, 1920 E. Crawford, Salina 67401. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Friday at the chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

Deanna Jo "Dye" Smith
SUNRISE BEACH, Mo. - Deanna Jo "Dye" Smith, 44, Sunrise Beach, formerly of Assaria, Kan., died Wednesday, May 11, 2005.

Survivors include her parents, Bobbie and Elan Dye of Assaria; a sister, Ronda Russell of Assaria; and her fiance, Howard Waldrop of Sunrise Beach.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Assaria Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Assaria Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society or Cross Road Church.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington, Lindsborg, KS 67456, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.

Carl R. Stadalman Jr
CLAY CENTER - Carl R. Stadalman Jr., 85, Clay Center, formerly of Herington, died Saturday, May 14, 2005.

Mr. Stadalman was born June 16, 1919, at Barnsdall, Okla. He retired in 1985 from the Clay County Hospital maintenance department.

Survivors include his wife, Louise, of Clay Center; a son, Dr. Ross Stadalman of Hays; a daughter, Carla Cummings of Herington; a sister, Kathleen Haire of Iola; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Sunset Cemetery, Herington, with military rites by Fort Riley Funeral Detail.

Memorials may be made to Shriner Hospitals and Burns Institute.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 404 S. Broadway, Herington 67449.

Clara M. Welsh
WESKAN - Clara M. Welsh, 92, Weskan, died Tuesday, May 10, 2005.

Mrs. Welsh was born Clara M. Blodgett on Aug. 7, 1912, in Sherman County.

Survivors include her husband, Ray, of Weskan; a son, John of Weskan; two daughters, Violet Wolfe of Loveland, Colo., and Peggy Pearson of Weskan; a brother, Ray Blodgett of Topeka; 15 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Mountain time Monday at United Methodist Church, Weskan. Burial will be in Weskan Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the church, in care of Koons Funeral Home, 211 N. Main, Goodland, KS 67735-1555.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Mountain time today at Koons Funeral Home, Sharon Springs.

Bernita Faye "Bea" Whitlock
INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - Bernita Faye "Bea" Whitlock, 70, Independence, died Thursday, May 12, 2005.

Mrs. Whitlock was born Bernita Faye Malstead on Feb. 17, 1935, in Republic County, Kan.

Her husband, Gilbert, died in 2004.

Survivors include three sons, William Scott of Independence, Darrell Lee of Liberty and David Russell of Blue Springs; a sister, Genevie Herndon of Cameron; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 39th at 291 Highway, Independence, MO 64055. Cremation will follow.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the chapel.

RUSSELL - Carolyn K. Denault, 47, Russell, died Tuesday, May 17, 2004.

Louise Friesen
HILLSBORO - Louise Friesen, 93, Hillsboro, died Sunday, May 15, 2005.

Mrs. Friesen was born Louise Jost on Feb. 9, 1912, in Hooker, Okla. She was a homemaker.

Her husband, Herman D., died in 1988.

Survivors include a son, Dwight of San Jose, Calif.; three daughters, Caryl Wiebe and Betty Seibel, both of Hillsboro, and Delight Vogt of Salem, Ore.; a sister, Kathryn Klassen of Hillsboro; 10 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church, Hillsboro. Burial will be in Gnadenau Cemetery, rural Hillsboro.

Memorials may be made to the church or Salem Nursing Home, Hillsboro.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Jost Funeral Home, 401 S. Washington, Hillsboro 67063.

Everett N. Girton
CLAY CENTER - Everett N. Girton, 76, Clay Center, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005.

Mr. Girton was born March 22, 1929, in Delphos. He was in the business of LP wholesale and freight hauling of LP and fertilizer.

Survivors include his wife, Donna, of Clay Center; a son, Barry of Wakefield; a daughter, Kathy Wilder of Clay Center; two brothers; two sisters, five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, Clay Center. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center.

Memorials may be made to Lighthouse for Christ or the church, in care of Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home, 918 Seventh, Clay Center 67432.

HILL CITY - Barbara E. Goff, Hill City, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005.

David Paul Hamilton
CLAY CENTER - David Paul Hamilton, 62, Clay Center, died Monday, May 16, 2005.

Mr. Hamilton was born Nov. 1, 1942, in Belleville. He was a turbine operator for Clay Center Public Utilities for more than 30 years.

Survivors include his wife, Leana, of Clay Center; a son, Jon of Clay Center; two daughters, Vanessa Flood of Olathe and Sherry Hamilton; his father and stepmother, Linn and Virginia Hamilton, of Joplin, Mo.; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Neill-Schwenson-Rook Funeral Home, 918 Seventh, Clay Center 67432.

Memorials may be made to David Hamilton Memorial Fund.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m.

The Rev. Paul J. Hindman
MINNEOLA - The Rev. Paul J. Hindman, 83, Minneola, died Monday, May 16, 2005.

The Rev. Hindman was born June 14, 1921, in Columbus, Ohio. He served as pastor of the Associate Presbyterian Church, now Reformed Presbyterian, for 30 years, and was postmaster in Minneola, retiring in 1987.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian June, in 2002; and a grandson.

Survivors include three sons, J. Edward of Denison, Leslie of Salina and David of Hutchinson; two brothers, Reed of Minneola and David of Irving, Texas; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Minneola United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Appleton Township Cemetery, near Minneola.

Memorials may be made to the church or Minneola Health Care Foundation, in care of Minnis Mortuary, P.O. Box 459, Minneola, KS 67865.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.

Irene F. Junek
CUBA - Irene F. Junek, 85, Cuba, died Monday, May 16, 2005.

Mrs. Junek was born Irene Kasper on Oct. 2, 1919, in Narka. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon, in 1993; and two grandchildren.

Survivors include four sons, Gary, Alan and Edwin, all of Cuba, and Richard of Belleville; four daughters, Marilyn Trecek of Agenda, Patty Struble of Minneapolis, Carol Taylor of Elkhart and Connie Schou of Cuba; 19 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Presbyterian Church U.S.A., Cuba. Burial will be in Kopsa Cemetery, Cuba.

Memorials may be made to the family's choice.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, 1104 20th, Belleville 66935, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Sharon Lynn Kilian
RUSSELL - Sharon Lynn Kilian, 62, Russell, died Sunday, May 15, 2005.

Mrs. Kilian was born Sharon Lynn McCall on Jan. 18, 1943, in Hays. She was a secretary for Holland and Holland Law Office, Drs. White-Pettijohn-Schultz and later for Dr. Sam, retiring in 1984.

Survivors include her husband, William, of the home; a daughter, Melissa "Missy" Fritschen of Glen Carbon, Ill.; three brothers, Bill McCall and Gary McCall, both of Bakersfield, Calif., and Richard McCall of Pratt; three sisters, June Schulz of Russell, Karen Henslee of Bakersfield and Darlene Galyardt of Santa Maria, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John Lutheran Church, Russell. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the church or Russell Regional Hospital Building Fund, in care of Pohlman-Heise Mortuary, 610 N. Maple, Russell 67665.

Eugenia S. Lewis
HAYS - Eugenia S. Lewis, 90, Hays, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005.

Mrs. Lewis was born Eugenia S. Staab on Feb. 3, 1915, at Catherine. She was a homemaker.

Her husband, Glenn T., died in 1974.

Survivors include a sister, Lucille Parker of Hays.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays. Burial will be in Denver.

Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Center or for Masses.

Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until time of service Thursday at the church.
