John Michael Swartz, 57, Salina, died Saturday, July 23, 2005.

Mr. Swartz was born Dec. 26, 1947, in Salina. He was in charge of production control for Smoky Hill Weapons Range.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Leota; and two brothers, Gail and Bill.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley, of the home; a sister, Shirley Milleson of Salina; a sister-in-law, Darlene Swartz of Blue Springs, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Salina Bible Church, 2100 Quincy, Salina 67401. Burial will be in Salemsborg Lutheran Cemetery, Smolan.

Memorials may be made to Salina Bible Church Missions Fund or American Cancer Society.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.

Jesse James Wright
Jesse James Wright, 61, Salina, died Sunday, July 24, 2005.

Mr. Wright was born Sept. 14, 1943, in Hensley, Ark. He was a jazz musician in Salina.

Survivors include his wife, Vesna Monika Matic-Wright; his mother, Vera Elizabeth Wright; a son, Jesse Wright Jr. of Salina; two daughters, Elizabeth Wright and Erika Wright, both of San Francisco; a brother, Willie “Sonny” Wright Jr. of Salina; two sisters, Daisy Whitaker and Thelma Collins, both of Salina; and five grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Carlson-Ford-Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio, Salina 67401. Inurnment will be private.

There will be no visitation. The body was cremated.

Beulah Beatrice Beninga
JUNCTION CITY — Beulah Beatrice Beninga, 98, Junction City, died July 18, 2005.

Mrs. Beninga was born Beulah Beatrice Heath on Jan. 16, 1907, near Clay Center. She and her husband opened the Junction City Cabinet Co., which later became Beninga Marine.

Her husband, Harold, died in 2004.

Survivors include two sons, Duane of Loveland, Colo., and Max of Eugene, Ore.; a brother, Leo Heath of Glenvil, Neb.; two sisters, Lucille Jensen of Valley Center and Lola Broden of Clay Center; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Junction City.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 113 W. Fifth, Junction City, KS 66441.

Mildred E. Clark
OAKLEY — Mildred E. Clark, 91, Oakley, died Monday, July 25, 2005.

Mrs. Clark was born Mildred E. Pierson on Feb. 2, 1914, in Oakley. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Clifford, of Oakley; and a daughter, Kim Clark Stump of Denver.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Oakley. Private inurnment will be at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the church, in care of Kennedy-Koster Funeral Home, P.O. Box 221, Oakley, KS 67748.

There will be no visitation.

Lois I. Mumford
GENEVA, Neb. — Lois I. Mumford, 94, Geneva, formerly of Hebron, died Monday, July 25, 2005.

Mrs. Mumford was born Lois Ida Holsteen on Aug. 10, 1910, at Nelson. She was a teacher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chris, on May 21, 2005; and a grandson.

Survivors include three sons, Norman of Hebron, William of Chester and Max of Omaha; a daughter, Dina Siebels of Belvidere; three sisters, Charleen Adcock of Superior, Shirley Janssen of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Vonna Firestone of Casper, Wyo.; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Price Funeral Home Chapel, 210 S. Third, Hebron 68370. Burial will be in Chester City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the family’s choice.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

John Raymond Nettleton
MARION — John Raymond Nettleton, 54, Marion, died Friday, July 22, 2005.

Mr. Nettleton was born Dec. 31, 1950, in Oswego. He was retired from the Navy.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia A.; his parents, Francis and Margaret Nettleton of Frontenac; a son, Patrick of Arkansas City; a stepson, Brian Werth of McPherson; a daughter, Kelsie Nettleton of Newton; a stepdaughter, Misty Werth of Arkansas City; a brother, Jim Nettleton of Wichita; two sisters, Kathy Moyer of McCune and Jane Marie Seahelm of Garland, Texas; and a granddaughter.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Peabody Christian Church. He will beburiedat sea by the U.S. Navy.

Memorials may be made to John Nettleton Memorial Fund.

Duane Allen Olson, 68, Salina, died Tuesday, July 26, 2005.

Dianna R “Choo Choo” Petrie
ELLSWORTH — Dianna R. “Choo Choo” Petrie, 57, Ellsworth, died June 23, 2005.

A memorial service will be at 9 a.m. Saturday in Kanopolis Cemetery.

Lena Schwien
ROSE HILL — Lena Schwien, 90, Rose Hill, died Sunday, July 24, 2005.

Mrs Schwien was born Lena Schwien on April 14, 1915, in Fort Collins, Colo. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Schwien, in 1982, and a grandson.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Morgan of Udall and Judy Beebe of Derby; two sisters, Lydia Beardsley of WaKeeney and Ruth Mehler of Ellsworth; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, WaKeeney. Burial will be in WaKeeney City Cemetery.

Eugene E. Sinn
MANHATTAN — Eugene E. Sinn, 77, Manhattan, died Monday, July 25, 2005.

Mr. Sinn was born Jan. 22, 1928, near Keats. He was a farmer-stockman.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen, of the home; a son, Greg of Manhattan; three daughters, Julie Henton of Clay Center, Renee Salzman of Eudora and Sandra Sinn of Manhattan; a brother, Carl of Manhattan; two sisters, Jo Ann Horton of Ventura, Calif., and Nancy Nelson of Manhattan; and nine grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Riley Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Riley Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the church or Terry C. Johnson Center for Basic Cancer Research.

Visitation is anytime today at Holmes-Pfeifley Funeral Home, 303 S. Broadway, Riley 66531.

Mildred White
EDGAR, Neb. — Mildred White, 103, Edgar, died Monday, July 25, 2005.

Mrs. White was born Mildred Muller on Sept. 21, 1901, in Miller. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee, and a grandson.

Survivors include a daughter, Norma Blevins of Doniphan; a son, Jake of Superior; a sister, Ruth Mowrey of Kearney; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Edgar Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in care of the family.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Megrue-Price Funeral Home, 750 N. Commercial, Superior 68978.

Ola Mae Youtsey
DORRANCE — Ola Mae Youtsey, 85, Dorrance, formerly of Hoisington, died Sunday, July 24, 2005.

Mrs. Youtsey was born Ola Mae Mullis on Jan. 6, 1920, at Alton, Mo. She was a beautician and cook.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Youtsey, in 1992, and a daughter, Tonya G. Lane.

Survivors include a son, Mark E. Sinclair of Dorrance; two daughters, Marsha Niehoff and Reta Bushell, both of Dorrance; two brothers, Willis D. Mullis of Chelsea, Okla., and Nelson Mullis of Rudy, Ark.; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, 415 N. Main, Hoisington. Burial will be in Hoisington Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Oncology Unit, Hays Medical Center, in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 146, Hoisington 67544.

There will be no visitation.

Grace Berdell Bell

HUTCHINSON o Grace Berdell Bell, 91, Hutchinson, died Thursday, July 28, 2005.

Mrs. Bell was born Grace Berdell Pitts on Feb. 7, 1914, near Culver. She was a farm wife.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred David, in 1980.

Survivors include a daughter, Loretta Mae Coleman of Hutchinson; two sisters, Marjorie Faye Schur of Salina and Dorothy Marie Schur of Culver; and a granddaughter.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Culver.

Memorials may be made to Culver Methodist Church.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.

Geraldine "Geri" Brown

LUCAS o Geraldine "Geri" Brown, 89, Lucas, died Thursday, July 28, 2005.

Charles Lee Brunning

HERINGTON o Charles Lee Brunning, 83, Herington, died Wednesday, July 27, 2005.

Mr. Brunning was born Dec. 5, 1921, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was a machinist for VA-Mold.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther, in 2002; and two sons, Perry Lee and Lamar Wayne.

Survivors include a son, James T. of Fort MoHave, Ariz.; two daughters, Virginia Lee Jeffers of Las Vegas and Cynthia Lynn Wilkes of Herington; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Cremation is planned.

Penwell-Gabel Herington Chapel, 404 S. Broadway, Herington, is handling arrangements.

G. Eileen Fikan

ATWOOD o G. Eileen Fikan, 84, Atwood, formerly of McDonald, died Wednesday, July 27, 2005.

Mrs. Fikan was born G. Eileen Kyte on Feb. 27, 1921, in rural McDonald. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reno, in 2003; and a son, Lyle D., in 2004.

Survivors include a son, Larry of Atwood; a daughter, Lois Smith of Atwood; a sister, Mary Pellegrini of Atwood; a stepsister, Carol Martin of Washington state; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Williams Funeral Home, 109 N. Second, Atwood 67730. Burial will be in Atwood Fairview Cemetery.

Memorials have been established.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Shirley Jean Florea

Shirley Jean Florea, 59, Salina, died Tuesday, July 26, 2005.

Miss Florea was born Feb. 19, 1946, in rural Republic. She was a retired clerk for the Kansas Department of Transportation.

Survivors include four brothers, Dennis of rural Scandia, Marvin and Verle, both of Concordia, and Gerald of Topeka.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart-Surber Memorial Chapel, 1322 19th, Belleville 66935. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery, rural Belleville.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. today and Saturday and 1 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
