Augusta, Kan. - Maxine R. (Dotson) Nicks, 87, Maize, mother of Debra Montgomery of Augusta, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2008.
Visitation with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. today, at Cochran Mortuary in Wichita. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the First Baptist Church in Maize.
Other survivors include: two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the First Baptist Church, 627 James, Maize, 67101.

Timothy Alan McKay
Augusta, Kan. - Timothy Alan McKay, 58, Winfield, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2008 outside Arkansas City.
Funeral services are being held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 28 at Dunsford-Zeiner Funeral Home in Augusta with inurnment following the service at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta. A reception for all friends and family will follow at the Red Rooster Guest House.
Tim was born on Nov. 3, 1949 in Wichita and was raised in Augusta. He graduated from Augusta High School and shortly thereafter joined the Marines. During active duty he received several commendations including a Purple Heart. He later worked for the City of Douglass until 1993 when he moved to Winfield and was employed by the City of Winfield and was eventually promoted to Supervisor of the Waste Water Department.
Tim is survived by: Dian, his wife of 19 years; son, Kelley and his wife Rachael McKay; daughter Darcey and her husband Shawn Martin; daughter Chelsee and her husband Shae Koenke; grandchildren, Whitney, Ian, Bo, Alyssa, Dakota, Jackson, Zurik, Shyanntea, and Chance; brother, Rick and wife Sharon McKay of Kansas City, Kan.; sister, Pennie McKay of Boise, Idaho; sister, Charlita and husband Roy Moreland of Augusta; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
As Tim was a life-long animal lover the family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Tim’s honor to the Kansas Humane Society in care of the Dunsford-Zeiner Funeral Home.

William "Bill" Lakin, Sr.
Leon, Kan. - Lakin Sr., William “Bill” Hershel, 69, Leon, retired Cessna machine operator and sheet metal worker for 30 years passed away Feb. 14, 2009.
Graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at Leon Cemetery in Leon.
Survivors include: sons, Donald Lakin of Leon, and William “Willie” (Missy) Lakin of Wichita; daughter, Sherry (Todd) Kingsley of Leon; brothers, Richard Lakin of El Dorado and Ron Lakin of Augusta; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elvin and Amy (Worford) Lakin; brothers, Charles, Rex, Roy, and Bob Lakin.
Memorials designated to Hospice Care of Kansas or the Kansas Masonic Home in care of the funeral home.

Burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends may call 2-3:00 P.M. Wednesday at the church. The family suggests memorial contributions to the church or National Kidney Foundation of Kansas. Mary was born December 23, 1916, in Kansas City, KS and was a lifetime resident. She was the secretary for Brenner Heights Baptist Church since 1956. She was a member of Brenner Heights Baptist Church and the Hill Toppers Club, Business & Professional Womens Club, and 4-H Club. She was preceded in death by a brother Jim Bateman. Survivors include a Sister-in-law Mary Ruth Bateman, 2 neices Gayle Lippincott, Cheryl Woolley, all of Kansas City, MO 2 great neices and 2 great nephews. Tuesday at the Porter Funeral Home 1835 Minnesota Av., Kansas City, KS. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Stephens United Methodist Church Building Fund. Dean was born November 2, 1924, in Bonner Springs, KS. and had been a lifelong resident of the Kansas City area. He was a Troubleman for KCP&L for 35 years, retiring in 1982. Dean was a Navy Veteran of WWII, a member of the Stephens United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maisie, and three sisters. Dean is survived by his wife, Belle Billbe, of the home., three daughters, Cathy Fisher, Topeka, KS, Janet Billbe, KCK, and Jo Ellen Toner, Wichita, KS, a step-son, Ray Brassfield, Basehor, KS, 6 grandchildren. Margaret K. Burgard of Leawood, KS, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001 at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Memorial Mass will be Saturday, March 24, 2001 at St. Peter's Cathedral Chapel. Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Burgard lived in Huntington Beach, CA from 1968 to 1988. She was a secretary in the Auditing Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, retiring in 1965. Her husband Otto B. Burgard died in 1985. Services were held at Lakeview Funeral Home, Wichita.
She is survived by: children, Leif Ernst and Andrea and Ryan Staley; siblings, William C. Taylor, Alice M. Todd, Katie East, Michelle Otis, Joe Minson, Mike and Tammy Minson, Bobby and Jennifer Minson, and Joy Fraser.

Betty Pinon
Augusta, Kan. - Betty Dean- Pinon, 84, El Dorado, died on Tuesday, Jan. 8.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, at Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado. Interment will follow in Sunset Lawns Cemetery, El Dorado.
Those she leaves are: her children and their spouses, Dale and Tracie Dean of Vero Beach, Fla., Loweta and Don Finlay of Augusta, Debbie and Tom Beardslee of Andover; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew.
Memorials in her memory for the American Legion may be left with Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado.

Brenda G. Calicoat
Augusta, Kan. - Brenda G. (Davis) Calicoat, Carlsbad, NM, daughter of Hugh and Elwynna (Smith) Adcock of Augusta, passed away on Jan. 11, 2008.
A memorial service has been held.
Other survivors include: husband, Jim; children, Dennis Wood, Kelly (Shelly) Calicoat, Lauren (Lee) Cook, and Michael Calicoat; brothers, Craig Adcock and Scott (Vicky) Adcock; sister, Tammie (Randy) Moss; five grandchildren.

Irene Riegel DeHaven
Augusta, Kan. - Irene Riegel DeHaven, 89, of Augusta, passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2008.
Viewing will be 2-8 p.m. Friday with family to greet friends from 5-7 p.m. and funeral service 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, all at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery, Belpre, Kan.
Irene was born in Macksville, Kan. on Aug. 1, 1918, the daughter of the late Robert Pinkney and Maude Mae (McHugh) Davidson. She worked as a secretary at Hopley Sales in Macksville as well as helping in the family store, Davidson and Riegel in Belpre. In June of 1936 she married Hugh Francis Riegel in Belpre and he preceded her in death in 1974. In August of 1977 she married Eugene DeHaven in Belpre and he preceded her in death in 1990.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Everett, Howard and Gaylord Davidson and a sister, Bonnie Morton as well.
Irene is survived by: daughters, Karen Froetschner and husband Kyrle of Larned and Sharon Wheeler of Augusta; grandchildren, Kraig Froetschner and wife Amy of Garfield, Kerry Froetschner and wife Donna of Rozel, Jimmy Wheeler and wife Kristi of Augusta, Monte Wheeler of Wichita and Sarah Wheeler of Augusta; great grandchildren Chelsea Townsend and husband Casey of Carney, Okla., Andrew Froetschner of Garfield, Ashton, Peyton, Madison and Corbin Wheeler of Augusta.
Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, American Lung Association for asthma research, or to the donor's choice.

Marjorie Rogers
Augusta, Kan. - Marjorie (Burnett) Rogers, 90, formerly of Augusta, retired Home Health Nurse and cook at Haverhill Café, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2008 in Ashland.
Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday July 1, with the funeral service following at 1 p.m., both at Dunsford-Zeiner Funeral Home, Augusta. Interment will be at the Douglass Cemetery.
Marjorie was born Dec. 20, 1917 in Riverton to Hubert Earl and Alice (Holt) Burnett. She married Floyd Clifford Rogers on May 30, 1936 in Joplin, Mo.
Survivors: daughters Peggy (Bill) Rich of Protection, Barbara Dewey of Cimarron, Sally (Steve) Elmore of Ashland; son Charles Rogers, Wichita; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Herbert Hickman, Pittsburg and John Burnett, Tollhouse, Calif.; sisters, Phyllis Girard, Cheyenne, Wyo. and Twyla McColum, Pittsburg; son-in-law, Dan Rich, Ashland; aunt, Phyllis West, Pollock Pines, Calif.; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Claude Rogers and a daughter, Patricia Rich.
Memorials have been established with the Haverhill Christian Church, the Long Term Care Center of Ashland or Hospice of the Prairie in care of the funeral home.

Brooke Madison "Maddy" Luginbill
Augusta, Kan. - Brooke Madison “Maddy” Luginbill, 3 years old, Douglass, passed away Friday, July 25, 2008.
Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. this evening at Dunsford~Zeiner Funeral Home in Augusta. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 30 in Fairview Cemetery (west on Thunder Road).
Brooke was born June 27, 2005, at St. Joseph hospital in Wichita. She loved playing hide- n-seek, knuk-knuk, and army with Caleb. Maddy also enjoyed shaking hands and introducing herself; her baby doll “Susie”; “Dora the Explorer”; and fishing, but not worms.
Survivors include: her mother, Amy Luginbill, Douglass; father, Brooks Ryan, Newton; brothers, Caleb Luginbill and David Owens, Douglass; step-sisters, Jasmine and Emma Owens, Wichita; grandparents, Dale Luginbill, Douglass; Kim Cason, Herington; Dave Ryan, Newton; great-grandparents, Olin and Glennis Luginbill, Wichita; aunts, Jenny Luginbill, Wichita; Katlin Gable, Herington; uncles, Blair Ryan and Travis Polk; cousins, Trevor Polk and Scott Childers.
A memorial has been established with the Brooke Luginbill Fund in care of the funeral home.

Viewing 1-8 p.m., with family present 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at Headley Funeral Chapel. Services 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 20, First Baptist Church, Augusta. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Justin was born in Wichita on March 13, 1995, the son of Todd and Marsha Martin. They survive.
Other survivors include: sisters, Jaime Martin of the home, and Ashley Martin of Pottsville, Penn.; grandparents, Ron and Irene Lakin of Augusta and Jerry Martin of Wichita; aunts and uncles, Debbie and Randy Engelbreht of Augusta, Lisa and Doug Nixon of Leon; cousins, Derek and Sara Highbarger, David and Amanda Highbarger, James and Amy Nixon, Zach and Emily Engelbreht.

Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum in Kansas City, KS. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Patrick's Catholic Church or to the Salvation Army. Vi was born May 19, 1905, in Troy, N.Y. was raised in Milton, MA and lived in Ft. Lauderdale, FL before moving to Kansas City in 1976. She was a hospital and home health nurse in Florida. Vi was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, and of the Shamrock Club. Her husband Phillip Burns preceded her in death in 1984. She is survived by her daughter, Jane Mahoney, and husband Dennis, of Kansas City, KS.; and two grandchildren, Kevin Mahoney, Lenexa, KS. and Kelly Mahoney, Prairie Village, KS.
