Lucille Louise James (Mama Lou) 97, of Frontenac, KS passed away
9:20pm Sunday October 17, 2010 at Via Christi Village Hospital in
Pittsburg, KS following a short illness.
Lucille was born June 17, 1913 in Brooklyn, New York the daughter of
Gottlieb and Cora (Hallock) Zeltman. She came to this community in
1997. In June of 1939 she married Leslie James in Virginia; he
preceded her in death on March 23, 1972.
She belonged to the New Utrecht Dutch Reform Church in Brooklyn and
was very active in the choir and other charitable functions. Mama Lou
will be remembered by her whacky sense of humor and giving nature.
Survivors include her children John James and wife Candy of Pittsburg,
KS and Kirk James of Frontenac, KS; sister Winnifred Simmons of Ohio;
grandchildren Elizabeth Holcomb and husband Matthew, Leslie Gavin
and husband Kerry, Ben James, and Kali Christiansen and husband
Drew; 4 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and grand
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings and
companion Leif Olsen.
Her final wishes were to be cremated and her ashes interred with her
husband in the New Utrecht Reformed ChurchCemeterywhere private
services will be held. In lieu of flowers the family ask expressions of
sympathy be in the form of memorials to the SEK Humane Society.

PITTSBURG — Benjamin “Todd” Ross, 39, went to be with his Savior
and Lord Saturday, December 4, 2010, passing away at his home in
Pittsburg, KS.

He was born September 9, 1971 in Pittsburg, KS., the son of Gerald &
Sandra (Crawford) Ross Sr. They survive.

Todd worked for Tri-State Asphalt Company for most of his life where he
did various types of construction work. He was a “jack of all trades.”

He was a member of the Light House Tabernacle Church in Pittsburg.
Todd was an active member at his Church, and he always found the
good in everyone he came across.

Todd had phenomenal athletic ability, and loved playing sports, but his
true love and passion were his nieces and nephews. He spent every
minute possible loving and caring for them.

Survivors include his parents, Gerald and Sandra Ross SR. of Pittsburg,
KS. 2 sisters, Tammy Wilson and husband Mike, Aimee Younger and
husband Gary, 1 Brother, Gerald Ross JR. and wife Beverly, all of
Pittsburg. Many beloved nieces and nephews, Ashley Kincade and
husband Daniel, Chelsey and Austin Grotheer, Brooklyn Wilson, Ryan
and Logan Younger, Amanda, Diego and Aaron Swor, Talaina Ross; 1
Great-niece, Lily Ross, and 2 great-nephews Landyn and Hunter
Kincade. Also survived is his Grandma Ruby Crawford, a Special Aunt
and Uncle, Uncle Danny, and Aunt Sherry, and many more Aunts and
Uncles.

He was preceded in death by his baby brother Richard; a nephew,
Devon Wilson, and his grandfather, Bill Crawford.

Memorial Service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 11 at the Light
House Tabernacle in Pittsburg, with Rev. Daryl Gaddy officiating.
Visitation will be at the Ross’s house Friday December 10. Friends may
stop by the house to pay their respect Friday anytime until 8:00 P.M. In
lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Benjamin “Todd” Ross
Memorial Fund. Memorial may be brought in or mailed to Bath-Naylor
Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway, Pittsburg, KS.

OSWEGO, KS — Paul Wiand was born March 23, 1926, in Nowata,
Okla., to Martin Luther and Bessie (Warner) Wiand. Unfortunately he
lost both his parents by the age of 2. He was sent to live with an aunt
and uncle in Indiana. He graduated from high school in New Castle, Ind.
Paul married his high school sweetheart, Marjorie Miller Sept. 2, 1945.
Paul and Marjorie moved to Council Grove, Kan. He was with Kansas
Power and light as a lineman. They were transferred to Cottonwood
Falls, Kan. Paul Left KP&L to open "Wiands Electric, Retail, Appliance
and Service Co." While in Cottonwood Falls, he taught high school
Sunday school class, was a Boy Scout leader, played tenor sax in the
"Rhythm MerchantS" was a past master of Masonic Lodge and president
of Chamber of Commerce. In 1959, Paul and Marjorie made a life
changing decision to enter the ministry. The family moved to Admire,
Kan., as Paul¹s first Methodist Church Appointment, Admire/Allen, Kan.
Paul entered Emporia State College. He graduated in 1963. The family
moved to Paola, Kan., Paola United Methodist Church while Paul
entered St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City. After moving to
Overland Park, Kan., at St. Marks United Methodist Church, Paul was
ordained May of 1967. He was a member of Kansas East Conference of
United Methodist Church. Paul and Marjorie were then appointed to the
following United Methodist Churches, Pittsburg, Baxter Springs, Horton,
Kansas City, Marysville, and Oswego, all in Kansas. Paul and Marjorie
retired in Oswego. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie. He is
survived by two daughters, Nancy Leach and husband, Allen, of Olathe,
and Cathy Jeffery, of Newport, Ark.; three granddaughters, Allison
Leach, Megan Stoan and husband, Kevin and Abby Rizor and husband,
Chad; and two great-granddaughters. Memorial services will be held at 2
p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, at the United Methodist Church in Oswego.
Graveside committal service will follow in the Oswego City Cemetery. In
lieu of flowers, the family wish memorials to be sent to Oswego United

Margaret I. Englebright, 86, passed away Saturday, December 4,
2010 at her home in West Mineral, KS.

She was born June 8, 1924 in Covington, Tennessee., the daughter
of Hugh and Tassie (Gray) Hughey.

She married Jullian Enlebright in Hernando Mississippi. He
preceded her in death on September 11, 1979. Margaret lived in West
Mineral for over 40 years. She was a homemaker. She was a Baptized
Jehova Witness.

Survivors include 2 Daughters, Tassie Eastman and Shirley
Mandrell, 2 sons, Larry Englebright and Pete Englebright. A sister-in-
law, Louise Hughey,. and one son-in-law, Thomas Longley. 14
grandchildren, 19 great- grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jullian, parents, a
daughter, Julie Longley, and 4 brothers.

Graveside service will be Wednesday, 1:00 P.M. December 8, 2010
at Star Cemetery, in West Mineral, KS., with Rev. Stanley Hudson
officiating. Visitation will be 12:00 P.M. until service time Wednesday at
Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Columbus, KS.

Jewell Mardell Alcorn, 84, passed away peacefully Thursday,
December 02, 2010 at Arma Care Center in Arma KS.

Jewell was born October 23, 1926 in Pittsburg KS., the daughter
of Walter and Della (Shaw) Pennington.

On January 1, 1953 she married James L. Alcorn. He preceded
her in death in August of 1993.

She attended Kansas State Teachers College where she earned
a bachelors degree in teaching. Jewell taught at Liberal MO. School
#R2 as a first grade teacher for 22 years, retiring in 1988. She had
previously worked at South Western Bell Telephone Company as an
operator for 8 years during the late 40’s, early 50’s.

Jewell was a member of the First Christian Church in Nashville,
MO., a member of the Retired Teachers of Missouri Association, and a
member of AARP #646.

Survivors include 2 Daughters, Deborah Folk of Basehor, KS.,
and Barbara Kermashek and husband Frank, of Girard, KS., 2 sons,
Mike Alcorn of Pittsburg KS., and Bob Alcorn and Wife Ellen of
Osawatomie, Ks. 8 Grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, and 1
sister, Billie Douglas of Holts Summit, MO.,

She was preceded in death by her husband James, parents, and
1 sister, Dorris Pennington.

Graveside service will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 7, 2010
at Nashville Cemetery, in Nashville, MO., with Reverend Bud Clapp
officiating. Public viewing will be from 9 AM until Service time Tuesday.

Beulah C. Wilderman, 80 of Pittsburg died at 8:10 p.m. Sunday
November 28, 2010 at the Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg.
She was born October 23, 1930 in Kansas City, MO the daughter of
Joseph and Beulah (Tomasi) Moley.
On May 21, 1948 she was united in marriage to Lawrence Wilderman,
he preceded her in death on January 15, 2000.
Beulah worked at Jim’s Steak House for several years, she also worked
at Wal-Mart and Plamore.
Survivors include seven sons: Danny Wilderman and wife Kim, Mike
Wilderman, Jim Wilderman, Steve Wilderman and wife Vicky, Kevin
Wilderman, David Wilderman and wife Donna, all of Pittsburg, KS,
Lawrence “Larry” Wilderman, III and wife Deborah of Kapolei, HI; one
daughter: Karen Jent and Husband Larry of Pittsburg; one brother
Joseph Moley, Jr. of Coffeyville, KS; two nieces and a life long friend
Nora Payne, 21 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Lori Ann
Wilderman and Agnes Walker, a grandmother who helped raise her.
Funeral services will be 1 pm, Thursday, December 2, 2010 at the Bath-
Naylor Funeral Home with Rev. Daryl Gaddy officiating. Burial will follow
in the Highland Park Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral
home from 6-8 pm Wednesday.
Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com. Memorials may be
made to the Mirza Shrine Transportation Fund, these may be left at or
mailed to the funeral home. The family will be at the home of Danny and
Kim Wilderman at 1505 N. Michigan in Pittsburg. Services by the Bath-

Joseph (Joe) E. Ferns, 96 of Pittsburg died at 6:18 a.m. Thursday
November 25, 2010 at the Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Frontenac.

He was born May 27, 1914 in Chicopee , KS the son of Edward P.
and Louise (George) Ferns. He was a graduate of Pittsburg High and
Pittsburg Business College .

Joe married Mabel Hasson on June 15, 1935 in Pittsburg , KS she
preceded him in death on March 27, 2002.

He worked from 1932 until 1946 for Standard Brands Inc. in
Independence , KS . He moved to the Pittsburg area in 1946 and from
1951 until 1978 he worked for the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant. He
then worked for Beasley’s Tire in Pittsburg and retired in 1990.

Joe was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church a 4th
degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an active member
of the Pittsburg YMCA, a sports enthusiast, an avid golfer who over the
years achieved 10 holes-in-one at Four Oaks Golf Course in Pittsburg .

Survivors include a daughter JoAnn Crespino and husband Frank
of Pittsburg; a son Francis Ferns MD and wife Cathy of Leawood, KS; 4
grandchildren Curt Crespino, Ryan Ferns, Jonathan Ferns and wife
Corbie, Jennifer Ferns; two great-grandchildren Erica Harris and
Anthony Crespino. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a
brother Donald Ferns a sister Marie Jones and a grandson Craig
Crespino.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday November 29th
at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg with Father Thomas
Stroot as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Highland ParkCemetery.
The parish rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Bath-Naylor
Funeral Home in Pittsburg where family will receive friends following the
rosary until 7 p.m. Friends may call the funeral home after 3 p.m.
Sunday. Condolences can be sent to www.bathnaylor.com Memorial
contributions can be made to the Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Fund or
the St. Mary’s/Colgan Booster Club. Memorials may be left or mailed to
