Charles E. DeBusk, 72 of McCune, KS died at 5:40 pm, Saturday,
November 20, 2010 at the Via Christi Hospital Pittsburg.
He was born September 2, 1938 in Seneca, MO the son of Kenneth and
Mae (Branham) DeBusk.
On January 14, 1959 he was united in marriage to Ellen G. Gamble; she
preceded him in death on June 6, 2009.
Charles was a mechanic and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include 3 sons: Russell DeBusk and wife Michelle of
Frontenac, Mike DeBusk and wife Becky of Pittsburg, Scott DeBusk and
wife Betty of Tennessee; a daughter Pat DeBusk of Oklahoma City, OK;
Mother Maye DeBusk of Pittsburg and Fiancée Cindi Noble of McCune,
KS and many grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
As per his own wishes his body has been taken for cremation. No
services are planned at this time. Condolences may be left at www.

Laura Jean Chase, 66, passed away Thursday, November 18 at
Medicalodge South of Pittsburg, Ks.

She was born April 30, 1944 in Grand Rapids MI. the daughter of John
and Phyllis (Dibble) VandenBerg. Laura has lived in Pittsburg since the
late 70’S.

Laura married Gary Chase July 1, 1966 in Comstock Park, MI. He
survives.

Laura was a dietitian for 12 years where she worked for Shields. Laura
spent most of her time with her family, being a devoted wife, mother,
grandmother, sister, and friend.

Survivors include her husband Gary of the home. 1 daughter, Caryn
Havens and husband Daniel, 4 sons, Gary Chase and wife Shirly, Scott
Chase and wife Michelle, Gerry Chase and wife Kim, and Eric Chase and
wife Dorothy. 4 Step-kids, Ronnie Clark, Rocky Chase, Randy Chase,
and Cindy Hensley. 1 Brother, John VandenBerg of Pittsburg, KS., 2
Sisters, Virginia Brown and husband Dennis, and Ruth Murphy and
husband Frank both of Holcomb, MO. 15 grandchildren and 6 great-
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers Raymond Dibble
and Frank VandenBerg, 1 Sister Maude VandenBerg, 1 grandson,
Gordan Chase, and I nephew Michael Patterson.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 22 at Bath-Naylor
Funeral Home in Pittsburg with Reverend James Fellers officiating.

Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will take
place from 1:00 P.M. Monday until service time. Condolences can be

William Lee Little, Jr. 59 of Pittsburg, KS formerly of Columbus passed
away on Nov 14, 2010 at the St. John’s Regional Medical Center
following a long illness.
He was born April 5, 1951 in Baxter Springs, KS the son of William and
Betty Joe (Wood) Little. He attended area schools and graduated from
the Columbus High School.
William was a loan officer for the State Bank in Columbus for many
years.
Survivors include his mother Betty Joe Crabtree of Columbus, two
brothers: Jimmie and Bobby Little both of Columbus; five sisters Judith
Smith of Columbus, Linda Duree of Baxter Springs, KS, Betty Burton of
Columbus, Barbara Jeffery of McCune, KS, Wanda Andrews of
Columbus, an adopted brother and sister Floyd and LeNeva Rhoe of
rural Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Graveside services will be 11:00 am, Friday, November 19, 2010 at the
Columbus City Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the Bath-Naylor
Funeral Home in Columbus one hour before service starting at 10 am.

Viola L. Tripp 95, of Arma, KS died Saturday November 13, 2010 at
Arma Care Center following a long illness.

Viola was born November 1, 1915 in Yale, KS the daughter of Joseph E.
and Lillian A. (Coffield) Hartshorn. She was a lifelong resident of the
area and attended area schools in Yale, KS.

On March 20, 1933 she married Warren Everett Tripp in Girard, KS; he
preceded her in death in October of 1977. Viola was a homemaker.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Pittsburg, KS.

Survivors include her children Margaret Larson of Pittsburg, KS, Maxine
Butler and husband Jack of Sheldon, MO, Robert Tripp and wife Patsy of
Nampa, ID, Joyce Adams and husband Kenneth of Opolis, KS, Carrol
Stow and husband Bill of Scammon, KS and Everett Tripp and wife
Margaret of Baxter Springs, KS; 26 grandchildren, many great and great-
great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Graveside Services will be 10am Wednesday November 17, 2010 at the
Hosey HillCemeteryin Weir, KS with Rev. James Fellers officiating.
Family will receive friends from 6-7pm Tuesday November 16, 2010 at
the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS; friends may call the
funeral home after 1pm on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers the family ask
expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to the Salvation
Army in Pittsburg, KS. Friends may drop off or mail memorials to Bath-
Naylor Funeral Home 522 S. Broadway Pittsburg, KS 66762. E-mail

Martin A. Semonick, 88, of Scammon, Kansas died at 4:25 am November
6, 2010 at Maude Norton Hospital following a long illness.

He was born January 5, 1922 at Cherokee, Kansas, the son of Martin
and Catherine (Sedusak) Semonick. He lived in Scammon, Kansas
since February 5, 1949 when he was married to Rosalie Knight. She
preceded him in death on February 24, 2002.

He attended Cherokee schools and was a 1939 graduate of Cherokee
High School. He attended Kansas State Teacher’s College, graduating
in May of 1949.

Mr. Semonick worked for the Commercial Fuel Coal Company before
volunteering to join the U.S. Army Air Corp in December 1941. He was a
member of the US 303rd Bomb Group, known as the Hell’s Angels that
flew the first B-I7 bomber air raids from England to France and
Germany. Martin was twice shot down in combat, the second time
becoming a prisoner of war for two years at Stalag 17-B in Austria.

He received numerous medals including the Flying Cross, two Purple
Hearts, four air medals and a presidential citation. He was a member of
the Columbus American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

After his graduation from college in May of 1949, he became an
advanced salesman for the Jewel Tea Company. He began employment
at the Cherokee County Courthouse as a social worker in 1950. He
became supervisor in 1960, director in 1968 and manager for both
Cherokee and Labette County Social and Rehabilitation Services at
Parsons, Kansas where the main office was located. He retired in 1986.

Mr. Semonick was an active fisherman and hunter. He belonged to the
Cherokee Gun Club since 1950 and was secretary and treasurer for the
first 40 years. He also was a taxidermist since 1965.
He was a member of the St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Scammon.

Survivors include a Ed Semonick and Anita Davolt of Columbus and a
sister Jane Custer of Scammon, 2 grandchildren Eric and Aron Davolt
and 3 great grandchildren Kristina, Alexis and Gracie Davolt,
In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert
A. and August Semonick; three sisters, Katie Semonick, Amelia O’Hara
and Annie Semonick.

Graveside services will be 2 pm, Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at
Hosey HillCemeterywith Fr. Chrysostom Ah Maung officiating. Friends
are requested to meet at theCemeteryfor the services. Informal
viewing will be from 1-5 pm Tuesday and from 8 am until 12 noon
Wednesday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Columbus. The
Columbus American Legion will provide flag folding rites at the
graveside. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com. Memorials
may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and/or The Alzheimer’s

Vivian Zoe “Zodie” Dickinson, 75 of Columbus, passed away, Nov. 1,
2010 at the St. John’s Medical Center in Joplin, MO following a sudden
illness.
She was born July 4, 1935 in Oswego, KS the daughter of Thomas
LeRoy “Lee” and Anna Mae (Duncan) Correll. She was raised one of
nine children in Oswego.
On Sept. 22, 1954 she was united in marriage to George Dickinson, they
later divorced.
She is survived by her children Jeananne Dickinson of Columbus,
George Dickinson, Jr. and wife Jan of Joplin, MO, Marcella Boettcher of
Pittsburg, KS, Delinda Dickinson & Curtis Buskirk of Carl Junction, MO,
Mark Dickinson of Springdale, AR, Melissa Dickinson & Rusty Livingston
of Parsons, 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, countless
adopted children, grandchildren and friends.
Funeral services will be 2 pm, Friday, Nov 5, 2010 at the First Baptist
Church in Columbus with Pastor Warren Stanton officiating. Burial will
follow in the Oswego City Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the
Church one hour before service time. Condolences may be left at www.
bathnaylor.com. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church for
Pre-K and K Sunday School Supplies; these may be left at or mailed to
