Ruth E. Creighton, 89, of Pittsburg, KS passed away Saturday, June
9, 2012 at Freeman West in Joplin, MO.

She was born August 13, 1922 in Ft. Scott, KS to Harley and
Catherine (Cory) Kinney. She had been a Pittsburg resident since
1943. Ruth married R. Wayne Hamm. They later divorced. On
December 30, 1971, she married James Creighton in Miami, OK. He
preceded her in death in 1994.

Ruth was a bookkeeper for International Harvest for 12 years and
worked in the sales and service department for JCPenney and Dixie
Shop. She was of Protestant faith.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Hamm of Franklin, KS, 13
grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, with one on the way and one
great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents,
husband, sons, George Hamm, David Hamm and Floyd Carl Hamm and
a brother, Harley P. Kinney.

No services are planned at this time. Arrangments are by
Bath-Naylor Funeral Home & Crematory, Pittsburg, KS.

Leona Lee Emerson, 88 of Pittsburg died at 7:25 p.m.
Wednesday June 6, 2012 at her home.

She was born November 27, 1923 in Pittsburg, KS the
daughter of Orville and Neva (Sills) Holloway. She was a
graduate of Pittsburg High School.

Leona married Louis Junior Emerson on April 26, 1941 in
Girard, KS; he preceded her in death on January 13, 2010.

Throughout her life and during her younger years she
worked in various fields and locations in the SEK area; including
Kansas Army Ammunition Plant, the Census Beuareu and was a personal
care attendant for SKIL.

Leona was currently a member of the Open Door Fellowship Center in
Pittsburg and a longtime member of the Pittsburg Afterglow Lighthouse.

Survivors include 2 sons Ron Emerson and wife Pat of Pittsburg, Tom
Emerson and wife Sally of Garnett, a daughter Susan Adams and
husband Frank of Pittsburg; a brother John Holloway and wife Joyce of
Olathe; 10 grandchildren; and 19 Great-grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers Orville Jr.,
Norman and James Holloway, a sister Barbara Scifers, a granddaughter
Kari Emerson Spiers and a grandson Eric Adams.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday June 12th at the Open
Door Fellowship with Pastors Don Talent and Kent Morgan officiating.
Inurnment will be at a later date. Condolences can be sent to

CHEROKEE - Katherine M. “Katie” Perry, 94 of Cherokee, KS died at
6:40 a.m. Sunday, June 3, 2012 at the Via Christi Village Pittsburg.

She was born February 21, 1918 in Cherokee, KS the daughter of
Joseph and Catherine (Peretti) Caresio. She had been a resident of the
Cherokee area her entire life until the last 18 months when she was a
resident of Via Christi Village. She was a graduate of Crawford
Community High School in Cherokee. Katie was a member of the Alter
Society at the former St. Anastasia’s Church in Cherokee and at St.
Bridget’s Catholic Church in Scammon, KS.

Katie married Roy Perry, Sr. on May 10, 1937 in Miami, OK. He
preceded her in death on July 8, 1990.

Survivors include 1 son, Roy Perry, Jr. and his wife Kay of Golden, MO,
2 daughters Judy Schuberger and husband Jerry of Kansas City, KS,
Margaret Geier and husband John of Cherokee, KS, 1 sister Lela
Holden Via Christi Village (formerly of Cherokee, KS), 6 grandchildren,
9 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren and several nieces
and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1
son-in-law Edward Jameson, 4 brothers Joseph, John, Dominic and
Pete Caresio, and 2 sisters Julia Modlin and Mary Kingrey.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2012 at St.
Bridget‘s Catholic Church in Scammon, KS with Father Chrysostom Ah
Maung as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Cherokee Cemetery. The
parish rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2012 at the
Bath Naylor Funeral Home in Weir, KS where the family will receive
friends following the rosary until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the
funeral home after noon on Sunday. Condolences may be sent to www.

GIRARD — Robert Earl Graham III, 28 of Girard, KS passed away
Friday, June 1, 2012 at Via Christi Hospital. He was born July 29,
1983. “We love you with all our hearts. You will be sorely missed
everyday and never forgotten”. It was then that I carried you…
Survivors include his wife Carina Marie Graham. Parents, Melody and
Denise Souza. Ex-wife Angie Marshell and two kids Jordan and Skyler.
Another son, Robert Graham IV and his mother Roxanna Hail and
mother Brenda. Sister, Shilo Brisco Brown, Brothers, Bill and Joe
Graham and sister, Laurel, all of California. Sister Karaissa Anderson
and husband Joe and children all of Girard. Amy Ewen and husband
Brent and child, all of Marshfield. Brother, Denise Wayne Souza JR of
Girard and many nieces and nephews. And the Madsen family and
Hummel family, and many other friends. Thank you for all your love
and prayers. A gathering at Girard Park by the pool will be at 1:00 P.
M., Saturday, June 9 by Rev. Keith Madsen.

The grave of Marylee Brochmann will be blessed and dedicated at St.
Bridget'sCemeteryin Scammon on Saturday, September 22. The
ceremony will be held at 1pm presided over by Father Chrysostum Au
Maung followed by a luncheon hosted by St. Bridget's Altar Society.

Marylee Brochmann passed away on May 31, 2012 in Lawrence,
Kansas where she had made her home since 1974.

She was born in 1926, the daughter of Edward and Louise Masterson.
She graduated from Columbus High School in 1944 and received a BA
from KU in 1948. After living in Oslo Norway for many years, she
returned to Columbus in 1955 with her son, Kristen. In 1967 she
returned to KU and received her Masters in Social Work and in 1974
she became a Lecturer at the School. Later she became an Assistant
Professer of Social Work and Director of the Undergraduate Division of
the School of Social Welfare. She retired in 1991. She was an active
sailor and participated in many activies at the university, She stayed
close to and was a supporter of Miller Hall where she lived during her
student days, and to Mortar Board, a student civic support group.

Her son, Kristen Brochmann, his wife, Rosy Harari, both of New York
City, Marylee's long time companion, Don Chambers and friends from
Lawrence will be there. Also expected to attend are cousins, Mary and
Tom Otto, and Theresa Wilkinson and a few life long friends. All who
knew Marylee are invited to join the ceremony and attend the Parish
Hall in Scammon afterward. Arrangements are by Bath-Naylor Funeral
Home of Weir, KS.

Michele J Turner 49, died May 30th, 2012 at the Carrington Place after
a lengthy illness surrounded by friends.

She was born May 21st, 1963 in Columbus KS to Charles & Janice
Turner of Weir. Weir was her hometown. She attended Weir and
Southeast High School.
Ms. Turner was also Graduate of Vatterot College, Joplin.
Michele worked various jobs, Millers, as a Para at USD 247, and as a
transcriptionist for several doctor offices. She was also employed at
Via-Christi, then Wal-Mart until her illness.

Michele is survived by her two children: Tommy & Chara Heskett.
One sister: Brenda Craddock, Girard, and two brothers, Donald and
Charles Turner, Scammon.

She was preceded in death by her parents in 2011.

Michele leaves a legacy of courage, a joyful spirit, zest for life, and
sense of humor through out her life and illness that inspired those
around her. Taken too soon she will be truly missed.

Michele was very grateful for her close friendships, their support and
love as well as the care she received by Carrington Place.

A time of remembrance and sharing is planned at Carrington Place on
Saturday, June 2nd at 2p.m.

Donations can be made in her memory to Angels Among Us.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in
Pittsburg, KS.

Daniel R. Hutson, 56 of Weir, Kansas passed away at 12:15 P.M.,
Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg. He was
born September 6, 1955 in Wichita, Kansas. Dan worked for Beech
Aircraft in Wichita for 8 years as an Electrician. He later moved to Weir
and started working at Sugar Creek Packing CO. in Frontenac, Kansas
as a Plant Supervisor. Daniel is survived by his significant other for 33
years, Ken Holmes, of the home. His mom, Barbara (McCamey)
Schwab, of Haysville, Kansas. 3 sisters, Barbara Harrod of Holdrege,
Nebraska, Carol McCintosh of Haysville, Darlene Pritt of Rockway
Beach, Missouri. A brother, Ron Hutson of Haysville. He was preceded
in death by his Step-father Don Schwab and a brother, Donny Hutson.
Graveside Services will be 2:30 P.M. Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Crocker
Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. Friday, June 1 at
Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg. Condolences may be sent
online at www.bathnaylor.com Arrangements are under the direction of
Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Pittsburg.
