Inga M. Semans

SOLOMON -- Inga Marie Semans, 92, Solomon, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, at the Abilene Care Center, Abilene.

She was born July 15, 1912, in Cherry County, Neb., the daughter of Neils and Carrie Petersen.

She married Emery Semans in Gordon, Neb., where she lived for most of her life. She moved to Solomon three years ago.

Mrs. Semans was a waitress and cook at the Western Café in Gordon for several years.

She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church, Gordon.

Survivors include one son, Max Teeters of Solomon; one daughter, Joann Kurzenberger of Solomon; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emery Semans; and one son, Dwight Semans.

Funeral services will be announced by the Carlson-Becker Funeral Home, 208 W. Fourth St., Solomon.

Dale Bishop

Dale Bishop, 67, Abilene, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center, Topeka.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Carlson-Becker Funeral Home, 208 W. Fourth St., Solomon.

Margaret Fleming

WICHITA -- Margaret Roseline Fleming, 96, Wichita, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2004.

David A. Hasker of Solomon is a brother.

She was born Margaret Roseline Hasker on April 23, 1908, in Saline County.

Mrs. Fleming was a homemaker.

Other survivors include one son, Harold of Wichita; two daughters, Zocanna Moore of Wichita and Margaret Fitz-Patrick of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one sister, Edna Ashton of Salina; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, at North Point Baptist Church, Park City. A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina.

Broadway Mortuary, Wichita, is handling the arrangements.

Fern B. Mohler

Memorial services for Fern B. Mohler will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at the First United Methodist Church, Abilene, with the Rev. Jim Edwards and the Rev. Robert Frasier officiating. Inurnment will be in Abilene Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church and may be left at or sent in care of Danner Funeral Home, P.O. Box 758, Abilene, KS 67410.

Due to incorrect information received, the above memorial service date was listed incorrectly in the Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004 edition of the Abilene Reflector-Chronicle.

Wayne Beemer

SOLOMON -- Wayne Beemer, 76, Solomon, died today, Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina.

Further announcements are pending from Danner Funeral Home, 501 N. Buckeye, Abilene.

Frank "Tex" Hubnik

Frank A. "Tex" Hubnik, 76, Abilene, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at Memorial Hospital, Abilene.

He was born Sept. 26, 1924, at Harlingen, Texas, the son of Joseph and Antonio (Slovak) Hubnik. He was a member of the United States Army service in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He received the Purple Heart and was discharged in 1945.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 320 N. Cedar. Burial will be in the Indian Hill Cemetery, Chapman.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Danner Funeral Home, 501 N. Buckeye.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House or the Trinity Lutheran Church, and left at the funeral home or the church.

Bobby G. Hurd

Bobby G. Hurd, 61, Abilene, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, in Memorial Hospital, Abilene.

He was born Dec. 24, 1938, in Stoutsville, Mo., the son of Ralph and Ione (Stribing) Hurd. He attended local schools. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Army. He was a radar technician.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 N.W. Third, the Rev. Mike Eurit officiating. Burial will be in the Fort Riley Post Cemetery with military graveside honors.

Visitation will be at the funeral home until time of service.

LeRoy J. Meredith

COPPERAS COVE, Texas--Leroy J. "Roy" Meredith, 84, a former resident of Abilene, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, at his home in Copperas Cove.

He was born Aug. 8, 1916 in Sioux Rapids, Iowa.

Mr. Meredith was a breeder and trainer of greyhounds and was manager of Oswald Brothers Greyhound Farm, west of Abilene, for many years.

A memorial service was Oct. 19, 2000, at the Sheppard Chapel of Memories in Copperas Cove.

Ruth Mitchell

Ruth Mitchell, 85, Salina, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, in the Smoky Hill Rehabilitation Center, Salina.

She was born Sept. 23, 1915, in Helechawa, Ky., the daughter of Floyd and Fannie (Easterling) Crase. She grew up in the community and attended local schools, graduating from Alvin Drew Methodist High School.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, at the First United Methodist Church, 122 N. Eighth, Salina, the Rev. C. Diane Watters and the Rev. Michael Keating officiating. Burial will be in the Hope Cemetery, Hope, at 2 p.m., the Rev. Glenn E. Matthews officiating.

Visitation will be at the Carlson-Becker Funeral Home, 208 W. Fourth, Solomon, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today.

Lois Vanover

SALINA--Lois Herrington Vanover, 77, Salina, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at Whispering Timbers Assisted Living, Solomon.

Roger Herrington of Solomon is a son.

She was born Lois Taylor on Feb. 3, 1923, in Lincoln and was a lifetime resident of the Salina area.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, 1920 E. Crawford, Salina, the Rev. Jack Ropp officiating. Private inurnment will be later in Lincoln Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wayne Newton Scholarship Foundation.

Helen Lowry

Helen Elizabeth Lowry was born on June 5, 1916, on a farm in Buckeye Township, Dickinson County, the daughter of Ray and Laura Livingston. She departed this life on May 14, 2008, at the age of 91 years, 11 months and 9 days.

Helen attended Walnut Grove School and graduated from Dickinson Community High School with the class of 1934. On October 24, 1937, she was united in marriage with Rand Lowry in Talmage, to this union a son, Karl, was born. All of their married life was spent farming in the Buckeye community north of Abilene.

She was a skillful seamstress and excelled at baking. She attended the Bethany Church, taught Sunday school and occasionally served as pianist. Long drives in the country were a favorite pastime. An avid reader, she enjoyed many subscriptions always completing the crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Nautilus Club. Helen often related many interesting stories of the history and progress of the community in which she lived.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and a brother, Glen.

Graveside services were held Saturday, May 17, 2008, at Livingston Cemetery with Roger Walls presiding. Pallbearers were Nick Avery, Nick Alvarado, Pete Hampton, Dennis Livingston, Kenneth Livingston and Jim Livingston.

Roma Lea Leblanc

CLIFTON — Roma Lea Leblanc, 82, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.

She was born Nov. 8, 1925, in Quinter to Alex and Annie (Mohn) Haas. She was raised in the Quinter and Longford communities, graduating from Longford High School in 1943.

She taught at the Wide Range Country School and worked for Duckwall’s in Abilene.

She married Wayne Marrs on Nov. 11, 1944. He preceded her in death on Sept. 25, 1953. She married Eugene Leblanc on May 23, 1959, in Clyde.

She worked as a geriatric aide at Estelle’s, was the site director for the Senior Citizen’s Center in Clifton and managed the Clifton Swimming Pool for 25 years.

She was a member of Faith United Church Presbyterian, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Senior Citizen’s Center.

Survivors include her husband, Eugene Leblanc, Clifton; four sons, Michael Marrs of Omaha, Neb., Danny Marrs of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Donnie Marrs of Salina and Dennis Leblanc of Lincoln, Neb.; a brother, Eddie Haas of Marysville; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at the church with Pastor Doris Compton officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Vining.

Memorial contributions may be made to Clifton Swimming Pool or Community Care Inc., in care of Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home, 918 Seventh, Clay Center, KS 67432.
