Obituary: Billy Quince Malone was born on March 5, 1942 in Natchez, MS to Mrs. Evelina Malone and the late Mr. Alex Mayberry. He received his formal education in the public school system where he was born. After graduating from high school in 1960, he joined the United States Army and made this his career choice. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was awarded several medals and citations including the Bronze Star Medal with V device, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two campaign stars and the Soldier’s Medal. After 22 years of being an outstanding serviceman, Billy retired from the Army and was employed as a crew leader for the City of Manhattan. He pursued this career for 20 years.

In the spring of 2003, Billy accepted Christ as his Lord and Master, and on the profession of his faith was baptized and united with the membership of the Mt. Zion Family Worship Center Church of God in Christ under the pastorate of Rev. Carl Taylor. Billy was a faithful member of Mt. Zion and served with distinction as a member of the Board of Deacons, Trustees and the men’s ministry, the Brotherhood.

Perhaps Billy will be remembered best for the charming little things that vividly characterized his life; his quiet and unassuming disposition, his love and loyalty to family and friends, his dedication and devotion to God and church, his willingness to do his bet on the job, and his gentleness of spirit.

Billy leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 32 years, Mrs. Mary Richardson Malone; two sons, James and Charles; one daughter, Vanessa, (daughter Vester preceded him in death); mother, Mrs. Evelina Malone; five sisters, Mrs. Beatrice McNair Howlett, Mrs. Dorothy Williams, Mrs. Clarice Harris (Riley), Mrs. Mary L. Clayton, and Mrs. Lucille Lee (Bernard); five sisters-in-law, Mrs. Pauline Barr, Mrs. Oddie Page (Arthur), Mrs. Lee Ella Conner (Douglass), Mrs. Della Geary (Ron) and Mrs. Rose Boone; two brothers-in-law, Leo Richardson (Pat) and Mose Richardson (Janie), eight grandchildren, James, Leland, Clifton, Keana, Jamour, Mario, Devan, and Percy-Tre`; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2006 in the Mt. Zion Family Center-Church of God in Christ, 614 Yuma, Manhattan with the Rev. Carl Taylor officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Sunrise Cemetery, Manhattan. The Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
