Anna V. Hastings

Services for Anna Van Pelt Hastings, 92, of Danville will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Stith Funeral Home by the Revs. Don Benningfield, John Craycraft and Bennett Hall. Burial will be in Winchester Cemetery.

She died Monday at Charleston Health Care Center. She was the widow of Cecil A. Hastings.

Pallbearers will be David, Jim and Michael McAfee, Bill Van Pelt, Ted Mensing and Paul O'Bryant.

Honorary pallbearers are Ron Dowling, Carroll Hastings, Curtis Hastings, Norton Gilmer and Tim Dexter.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today.

Memorials may go to Centenary United Methodist Church Building Fund or favorite charity.

Ben H. Bandy

STANFORD --Private services for Ben H. Bandy, 63, of Lexington will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Danville by the Rev. Tim Mathis and Charlie Bandy.

He died Monday at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington.

Born July 3, 1936, in Boyle County, he was a son of Addie Shelton Bandy of Hustonville and the late Una Bandy. He was retired from the Fayette County schools central office and was a member of the Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran, having served with the 100th Armour Division at Fort Chaffee, Ark., and served in Korea.

Survivors include his wife, Gayle H. Bandy; a daughter, Julia K. Bandy of Lexington; a brother, Charles Bandy of Denver, Colo.; four sisters, Dolly Brandon of Sherman, Texas, Geraldine Rousey of Hustonville, Margie Johnson of Danville and Tena Litton of Columbus, Ohio.

Pallbearers will be Bruce and James Rousey, Michael and Charlie Johnson, Charles Bandy Jr., Rob Litton and Stephen Trisler. Honorary pallbearers are G.W. Roney, Larry Curtis, Edward McDonald and John Trisler.

Memorials may go to Hospice Care Center, Lexington, or First Baptist Church.

Fox Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Phillip W. Eads

HARRODSBURG -- Ser-vices for Phillip Wayne Eads, 73, of Salvisa will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Salvisa Baptist Church by the Revs. Walter Price, James Hensley, John Hockersmith III and Larry Koch. Burial will be in Kirkwood Cemetery with military rites.

He died Monday at his home.

Born Feb. 22, 1926, in Tuscaloosa, Ala., he was a son of the late Luther and Ruby Parker Eades. He was a former teacher in Lexington and a minister of music at area churches. He was a veteran of World War II and a deacon emeritus at Salvisa Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Magarette Beasley Eads; two brothers, Eldridge Eads of Monterey, Tenn., and E. Don Eads of Atlanta.

Pallbearers will be Bryan, David, Steve and Tim Eads, Rodney Harlow and Peter Neidenvach.

Honorary pallbearers are Dale Niswonger and Z.T. Lester, Gaary Story, Don White, Bob Jones, Tyrie Denney and Ed Orberson.

Visitation is after 4 p.m. today at Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

Memorials may go to Gideon bible fund or Heritage Hospice.

Winifred Goode

STANFORD -- Services for Winifred "Tommye" Goode, 96, of Danville Avenue will be 2 p.m. today at Fox Funeral Home by the Rev. Jerry Beck. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

She died Monday at Stanford House nursing home.

Born Dec. 24, 1903, in Union County, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Lynna L. Travis Thomas.

She was a retired nurse, a member of Harris Memorial United Methodist Church, Eastern Star and XYZ Club. She was the widow of Kenneth H. Goode.

Survivors include a brother, Cedric Thomas of Stanford; and a sister, Dodie Smith of Uniontown.

Honorary pallbearers are Calvin Denham, Adrian Gooch, Jack Withrow, Randy Leach, Alfred Pence Jr., and Cecil Witt.

Visitation is 1 p.m. today until time of service.

Memorials may go to Stanford House nursing home or Alzheimer's Association of the Bluegrass.

Ellen R. Young

LANCASTER -- Services for Ellen R. Young, 67, of Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Lancaster, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Spurlin Funeral Home by Billy Estes. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.

She died Monday in Fort Myers.

Born May 26, 1932, in Garrard County, she was a daughter of the late Grover C. and Margaret Holtzclaw Russell.

She was a retired employee of South Central Bell where he worked for 17 years and a member of Burgin Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ollie F. Young; two sons, Marcus L. Young and Michael S. Young, both of Danville; a daughter, Angela D. Young of Altoona, Pa.; two brothers, Frank Russell of Poway, Calif., and G.C. Russell of Calhoun, Ga.; two sisters, Peggy McAnly of Nicholasville and Julia Bishop of Riverdale, Ga.; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John Hester, Jack Pattie, Barry Rich, Billy Ray, Billy Pendergrass and Eddie Gover.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today.

Anna Van Pelt Hastings, 92, of Danville died Monday at Charleston Health Care Center.

Born Sept. 13, 1907, in Georgetown, she was a daughter of the late John R. and Permelia Mary Groves Van Pelt. She was former owner of Hastings and Crews Lumber Co. in Winchester, a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, a life member of Women's Society of Christian Service, homemakers club and hospital auxiliary.

Survivors include a daughter, Patsy H. McAfee of Danville; a son, Robert A. Hastings of Cincinnati; two sisters, Allie Nave and Lucy Bennett, both of Lexington; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Stith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Winchester Cemetery.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials may go to Centenary united Methodist Church building Fund or favorite charity.

Retna T. Acton

CRAB ORCHARD -- Retna Taylor Acton, 93, of Eubank died Monday at Lake Cumberland Regional Medical Center in Somerset.

Born Oct. 16, 1906, in Pulaski County, she was a daughter of the late Arch and Maggie McWilliams Taylor. She was a retired real estate clerk, a member of Eastern Star West Port Lodge 193, and a Kentucky Colonel. She was the widow of J.B. Acton.

Survivors include a sister, Belva Brown of Fairfield, Ohio.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Buffalo Springs Cemetery, Stanford, by Jimmy Dyehouse.

There will be no visitation.

Flossie Grigsby

HARRODSBURG -- Flossie Lovell Pollitt Grigsby, 85, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Friday at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born July 8, 1914, in Lewis County, she was a daughter of the late Winford and Anna Stamper Pollitt. She was a retired employee of Lowenthal's and the widow of Carl R. Grigsby. She was a member of Harrodsburg United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Earl B. Grigsby of Branson, Mo.; a daughter, Carol Lovell Hill of Shelbyville; a brother, Howard Pollitt of Mount Carmel; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Bert W. Grigsby.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, Flemingsburg, by the Rev. Paul Brewer. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Visitation is 11 a.m. Saturday until time of service at the church.

Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home has charge of funeral arrangements.
