LIBERTY -- Elmer Austin, 78, of the Grove Ridge community died today at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete at Bartle Funeral Home.

LIBERTY -- Robert "Bob" Godbey, 49, of Liberty died Thursday in Jellico, Tenn., as the result of a drilling accident.

Mauhee Ledford

LANCASTER -- Mauhee Ledford 71, died Thursday at Pattie A. Clay Hospital in Richmond. Arrangements are incomplete at Ramsey Funeral Home.

Betty R. Rankin

LANCASTER -- Betty R. Rankin, 68, of Crestview Hills, Florence, died Thursday at Florence Park Care Center.

She was a secretary, an ambassador for Cin-cinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport and a hospital volunteer.

Survivors include her husband, Russell Rankin; a sister, Penny Houlihan of Lexington; and a brother, William F. Sowder of Huntsville, Ala.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Ramsey Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at Stith Funeral Home, Florence, and 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Ramsey Funeral Home.

Helen Pennington

Services for Helen Louise Pennington, 63, of Charleston Health Care Center will be 1 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Second and Walnut streets, by the Rev. Richard Hill. Burial will be in Hilldale Cemetery.

She died Tuesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born March 1, 1936, in Danville, she was a daughter of the late Laura Gash and Robert Crowdus.

She was a homemaker, a member of First Baptist Church and a graduate of Bate High School class of 1954. She was the widow of Robert P. Pennington.

Survivors include a son, Gary L. Pennington of San Bernadino, Calif.; two daughters, Paula Parks of Harrodsburg and Marsha Johnson of Danville; a sister, Lenora Smalley of Danville; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Church.

Smith-Jackson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Rev. Fred Wilkinson

A memorial service for the Rev. Fred Wilkinson, 78, of Kansas City, formerly of Stanford, will be 2 p.m. Sunday at First Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Floyd Rag-lan.

He died Dec. 28 in Kansas City.

Richard H. Ballard

LANCASTER -- Services for Richard H. Ballard, 73, of Lancaster will be 11 a.m. Monday at Spurlin Funeral Home by Dale Denton. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

He died Wednesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born May 15, 1926, in Garrard County, he was a son of the late Ray and Melia Ballard.

He was a retired Chrysler employee.

Survivors include his wife, Lora Jane Ballard; four daughters, Sherry L. Riley and Evelyn C. Jones, both of Dayton, Ohio, Altheia Ballard and Tina M. Estes, both of Lancaster; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Sonny Coulter, Gerald Lay, Paul Ballard, Don Daley, Joe Barker and Steve Ballard. Honorary pallbearer is Tevis Graham.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Sunday.

Ruth Beard

LANCASTER -- Services for Ruth McMurtry Beard, 90, of Polly's Bend Road will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Ramsey Funeral Home by the Rev. Bryce McCulley. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Nicholasville.

She died Thursday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital.

Born March 25, 1909, in Buena Vista, she was a daughter of the late Richard D. and Bernice Blakeman McMurtry. She was a retired teacher, having taught in Buena Vista and Camp Dick school for 42 years, and a farm manager. She was the widow of Judge Ray Wilson, Homer Beard and Russell Wiedo.

Survivors include several stepchildren and grandchildren.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today.

Edwin Kubale

Edwin Kubale Jr., 73, of Lexington Road, a Boyle County magistrate and a farmer, died Monday at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born April 21, 1926, in St. Louis, Mo., he spent most of his life in Danville where he was active in the community and government.

He served two terms in the state House of Representatives from 1954-58 and was currently serving his fifth term as a magistrate on the Boyle Fiscal Court. He was past chairman of the Danville-Boyle County Planning and Zoning Committee, a former member of the Boyle County Board of Health, and was instrumental in the development of Millennium Park.

He served as a flight engineer in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member and elder of The Presbyterian Church. A graduate of Danville High School, he was an all-state football player. He also attended University of Kentucky majoring in agriculture and belonged to the Kappa Alpha Order.

Kubale was an innovate and progressive farmer and was recognized for his achievements in dairy farming. He was honored as Outstanding Farmer many times.

Survivors are his wife, Cordelia Alexander Kubale; two daughters, Mariam C. Kubale and Cordelia Kubale Pendygraft, both of Danville; two sons, Edwin Kubale III of Atlanta; and James F. Kubale of Lexington; a brother, Rube Kubale of Danville; and four grandchildren.

Services will be noon Thursday at The Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.

Visitation is after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may go to Pride in the Park, c/o Mort Hoagland, Farmers National Bank, West Main Street, Danville 40422.

Jean C. Norton

HARRODSBURG -- Jean C. Norton, 89, of Harrodsburg died Monday at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born Sept. 17, 1910, in Troy, she was a daughter of the late Veal and Johnnie Bell Young Morgan. She was a retired Kentucky State Hospital employee and a member of Mount Hebron Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Vernelle Norton of Los Angeles; two daughters, Shirley J. Claunch of Harrodsburg and Marjorie Smith of Stanford, Ill.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Billy Norvell

PERRYVILLE -- Services for John William "Billy" Norvell, 74, of Hays Lane will be 2 p.m. today at Wilder Funeral Home by the Rev. Ron Holman. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

He died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Hattie Jane Stewart Norvell; a daughter, Shirley Harden of Perryville; a son, Billy S. "Doc" Norvell of Danville; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be David Reynolds, Bob Tamme, Melvin Bottoms Clyde Jackson, Laddie Garrison and Eugene Pike.

Honorary pallbearers are employees of Burley Tobacco Warehouse and Boyle County Stockyards, Stewart Glasscock, Billy Plummer, Morris Stewart, Bruce Helm and A.L. Crain.

She died Saturday at Danville Centre for Health and Rehabilitation.

Born May 5, 1897, in Washington County, she was a daughter of the late Charles E. and Cordella Yankey Boswell. She was a homemaker and a member of Audobon Baptist Church, Louisville, and attended Lexington Avenue Baptist Church in Danville.

She was the widow of John H. Slone. Several cousins survivors.
