Sudie M. Purvis

OWINGSVILLE -- Sudie Mae Purvis, 74, of Owingsville died Saturday at her home.

Born Feb. 28, 1925, in Bath County, she was a daughter of the late Tommy and Rachel Collins Purvis. She was the widow of Ollie C. Purvis. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia L. Bodner of Danville and Linda K. Wilson of Owingsville; two sons, Gregory P. and Larry C. Purvis, both of Owingsville; a brother, Stanley Purvis of Owingsville; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Donnie W. Ritchie.

Services were scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Richie Hunt Funeral Home by the Rev. Willard Johnson. Burial will be in Hedricks Cemetery.

Memorials may go to St. Claire Hospice, 222 Medical Circle, Morehead, 40351.

Della Vaughn

LIBERTY -- Della Vaughn, 91, of Dunnville, died Saturday at Russell County Hospital.

Born Nov. 3, 1908, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Anderson and Margaret E. Pendleton Lewellen. She was a homemaker and a member of Dunnville Christian Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Cooper of Liberty; a son, Lilburn R. Vaughn of Danville; a sister, Ida Garrett of Danville; a brother, Hershel Lewellen of Illinois; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Services were today at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by Carroll Egnes. Burial was in Salem Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Mike Cooper, Jonathan Vaughn, Chuck King, Jason Cooper and Henry Wilkerson.

Dorothy Lefler

HARRODSBURG -- Services for Dorothy Crawford Lefler, 88, of Harrodsburg will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home by Stan Houser and Danny Sallee. Burial will be in Bohon Christian Church Cemetery.

She died Friday at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born May 12, 1911, in Chicago, she was a daughter of the late Joseph F. and Mabel E. Dockham Crawford. She was a member of Bohon Christian Church.

Survivors include two sons, Donald Carter of Santa Monica, Calif., and Allen Carter Jr. of Florida; a brother, Jack Crawford of Ormond Beach, Fla.; a sister, Marion Russo of Streamwood, Ill. She was preceded in death by a son, David Carter.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today and after 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Jack Rigsby

STANFORD -- Services for Jack "Buddy" Rigsby, 58, of Cedar Street, Crab Orchard, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Redemption Road Pentecostal Church by Gary Yocom and Joseph Glover. Burial will be in Vanhook Cemetery.

He died Saturday at Fort Logan Hospital.

Pallbearers will be Terry Fletcher, Varner Mullins, Terry Bullock, Wayne Simpson, Ricky Moore and Billy Hendrickson.

Honorary pallbearers are Nathaniel Fugate, Robert Collett, McKinley Bishop, Herbert Coleman, Donald King and Jeff Mullins.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the church.

Memorials may go to Redemption Road Christian Academy.

Jack "Buddy" Rigsby

STANFORD -- Jack "Buddy" Rigsby, 58, of 510 Cedar St., Crab Orchard, died Saturday at Fort Logan Hospital.

A native of Harmons Lick, he was the son of the late Johnny and Ethel Brewer Rigsby.

He was a self-employed jack of all trades, former owner of Crab Orchard Scrap, and member of Redemption Road Pentecostal Church. An avid NASCAR fan, he was a former owner of a round-track car.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Bergner Rigsby of Crab Orchard; a daughter, Michelle Hendrickson of Crab Orchard; three brothers, Paul, Billy and Bruce Rigsby, all of Lancaster; and a sister, Jean Goins of Lancaster.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Redemption Road Pentecostal Church by Gary Yocom and Joseph Glover.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. Monday at the church.

Memorials may go to Redemption Road Christian Academy.

Leeilah Steele

CONNERSVILLE, Ind. -- Leeilah Steele, 73, of Connersville died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Hospital, Carmel.

Born May 19, 1926, in Danville, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Georgia White Price. She worked at Philco for three years and attended the Penecostal Church. She was the widow of Leslie Steele.

Survivors include three daughters, Susan Taylor of Whitley City, Sharon Purselley of Danville and Judy Snider of Connersville; a son, Bill Case of Danville; a stepson, Luke Steele of Richmond; a brother, Walter B. Price of California; two sisters, Lucille Chenoweth of Connersville and Juanita Conner of Danville; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lee Case Jr.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Urban-Winkler Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert E. Lee. Burial will be in Laurel North Cemetery.

Hazel D. Stewart

LEBANON -- Hazel Dora Stewart, 58, of Junction City died Friday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born June 17, 1941, in Marion County, she was a daughter of the late Henry Berry and Ruth Pauline Mullins Riley.

Survivors include a daughter, Amanda Stewart Owens of McKinney; a son, Robert George Stewart III of Junction City; a brother, Sammie Riley of Springfield; four sisters, Kathryn Phelps of Springfield, Virginia Murphy and Marybelle Whitehouse, both of Louisville, and Christine Sapp of Fern Creek; and a grandchild.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Bosley Funeral Home by the Rev. Windell Douglas. Burial will be in Hayesville Cemetery.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at Bosley Funeral Home.

Bige Napier

LANCASTER -- Services for Bige Napier, 58, of Old Richmond Road will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Harmons Lick Church of God by the Rev. Vernon Willard. Burial will be in Napier and Blackburn Cemetery.

He died Thursday at Central Baptist Hospital of natural causes.

Born July 15, 1941, in Garrard County, he was a son of the late Robert and Lena LeFevers Napier. He worked at Napier Construction Co. and was a member of Harmons Lick Church of God.

Survivors include two sons, Dale and James Napier of Garrard County; four daughters, Wanda Whitis of Lincoln County, Sandra Lovett of Richmond, Donna Young of Lancaster and Tina Middleton of Garrard County; four brothers, Raymond, Robert Jr. and Shelby Napier, all of Garrard County, and Lee Napier of Madison County; and nine grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be nephews. Honorary pallbearers are grandchildren and nephews.

Mazie I. Evans

LIBERTY -- Mazie Irene Evans, 75, of Harrodsburg, formerly of Liberty, died Wednesday at her home.

Born Sept. 5, 1924, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Stewart and Eliah Chancellor Sallee. She was a retired American Greetings employee and a homemaker. She was a member of Green River Valley Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Franklin Evans; four daughters, Jean and Brenda Campbell and Melissa Walker, all of Lexington, and Glenda Cox of Versailles; two sons, Franklin Evans Jr. of Versailles and Rowland Evans of Nicholasville; two sisters, Stella McDonald of Liberty and Mary Martz of Indiana; three half sisters, Flostine and Fonelle Davenport, both of Liberty, and Gladys Dise of Mount Salem; two half brothers, Riley Sallee of Liberty and Sherman Sallee of Indiana; 19 grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by Tim Cochran. Burial will be in Green River Valley Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Josh, Rowland and Adam Evans, Mervin and James Campbell, and Calvin Johnson.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. today.

H.C. Yeaste

HARRODSBURG -- Services for H.C. Yeaste, 70, of Beaumont Avenue, will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Harrodsburg Baptist Church by the Revs. Robert Defoor, Ricky Snyder and Eddie Russell. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with military and Masonic rites.

He died Wednesday at St. Joseph Hospital.

Born Oct. 7, 1929, in Mercer County, he was a son of the late Everett S. and Gertrude Trower Yeaste. He was a retired employee of the Kentucky Revenue Cabinet, an auctioneer, and the former owner and operator of the Shakertown service station and S&Y Grocery. He was a member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church where he was a member of Faith, Hope and Love Sunday School class and chairman of the deacons association in 1997 and 1998. He was a graduate of Campbellsville College and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Oleika Shrine Temple and Scottish Rite, and Chapter Dad for the Order of Demolay -- Wilderness Trail Chapter. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and Lions Club and was a Kentucky Colonel.

Survivors include his wife, Bettie Randolph Yeaste; a son, George Yeaste of Lawrenceburg; a daughter, Pam Y. Jackson of Lebanon, Ohio; a brother, Kit C. Yeaste of Bardstown; a sister, Elsie Gordon of Orlando, Fla.; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jim Fitzgerald, Bill Huff, Bryan Smith, Fred Butterfield, Jimmy Fitzgerald and Patrick Branam.

Honorary pallbearers are deacons and Sunday School class members.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Saturday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel and noon until time of service Sunday at the church.

Memorials may go to Shiners Children's Hospital, Harrodsburg Baptist Foundation or American Heart Association.

Juanita W. Caldwell

Juanita West Caldwell, 69, of Cream Ridge Road, Junction City, died Sunday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Feb. 9, 1930, in Boyle County, she was a daughter of the late Charles B. and Cora Rousey West. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was the widow of Howard Caldwell.

Survivors include four daughters, Carolyn Galloway and Sharon Anderson, both of Junction City, Sandy Williams of Paint Lick and Deborah West of Danville; two sons, Roger Caldwell of Marion, Ind., and Timmy Caldwell of Junction City; a brother, Bill West of Junction City; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Caldwell.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Paul McFarland. Burial will be in Cream Ridge Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Tuesday.
