Lowell T. Dean

PERRYVILLE -- Services for Lowell Thomas Dean, 61, of South Bragg Avenue will be 2 p.m. Friday at Wilder Funeral Home by the Rev. Ron Holman. Burial will be in Elder Cemetery in Forkland with military rites.

He died Tuesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Feb. 13, 1939, in Boyle County, he was a son of the late George and Evalena Davis Dean. He was an employee of the Boyle County Road Department for many years and an Air Force veteran.

Survivors include two sons, Paul Dean of Danville and Travis Dean of Lexington; three sisters, Helen West and Lois Preston, both of Mitchellsburg, and Viola Craig of Perryville; a brother, Charles Dean of Houston, Texas; and a grandchild.

Pallbearers will be David Craig, Roger Roehm, Danny and Doug West, Danny Pelly and Dennis Curtsinger.

Honorary pallbearers are George Gordon, Gerald Raney, and Boyle County Road Department employees.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today.

Derek W. Wardrip

MORELAND -- Services for Derek Wayne Wardrip, 27, of Liberty will be 1 p.m. Friday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Mike Mullins. Burial will be in Middleburg Cemetery.

He died Wednesday at the home of his parents.

Born May 28, 1973, in Boyle County, he was a son of Wayne and Brenda Wardrip of Hustonville. He was a brick layer for Huskisson Masonry of Lexington and a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church.

Other survivors include his wife, Cristal Cochran Wardrip; a daughter, Alissa Wardrip of Liberty; a son, Jimmy Wardrip of Liberty; a stepson, Joshua Peyton of Liberty; a brother; Corey Wardrip of Hustonville; grandparents, Raymond and Lillie May Henninger of Danville and Hazel Smith of Mount Salem.

Pallbearers will be Damon Jarrett, Jody Jarrett, Chris Vanhook, Michael Smith, Barry Smith and George Smith.

Honorary pallbearers are Buddy Douglas, Wayne Wilcox, Lee Lynn, Ivy Johnson, Scott Lawson, Chris Lay, Dwight Carmack and Thomas Carmack.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. today.

Memorials may go to Heritage Hospice or American Cancer Society.

Nellie B. Asher

BRODHEAD -- Nellie B. Asher, 72, of Crab Orchard died Sunday at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center.

Born Dec. 25, 1928, in Rockcastle County, she was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Singleton Bishop. She was retired from Parker Seal Co. and was a member of Crossroads Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond Asher of Crab Orchard; two sons, Raymond Asher Jr. of Brodhead and Anthony Asher of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Rita Genton of Ottenheim; seven brothers, Marion Bishop of Belleville, Mich., Delray Bishop of Blanchester, Ohio, and Alvin Bishop, Bobby Bishop, Doug Bishop and David Bishop, all of Brodhead, and Ernie Bishop of Mount Vernon; three sisters, Wanda Barnett of Lockland, Ohio, Jean Burns and Genelia Asher, both of Brodhead; and five grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Crossroads Assembly of God Church by Charles Carr and Nathaniel Fugate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.

Dowell and Martin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Thelma T. Burchett

SPRINGFIELD -- Thelma Tate Burchett, 73, of Perryville Road died Tuesday at Norton Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.

Born March 11, 1927, in Marion County, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Bessie A. Webb Tate. She was a longtime employee of Cowden Manufacturing Co. and a member of Bardstown Church of God.

Survivors include a son, Benny Burchett of Springfield; four sisters, Gladys Skeans and Vergie Hutchens, both of Jeffersonville, Ind., Nannie P. Burchett of Danville and Nettie Woods of Versailles; a brother, Fred J. Tate of Lebanon; three half brothers, James Tate of Nicholasville and J.C. Tate and Robert Tate, both of Perryville; four half sisters, Lois Boyd of Versailles, Minnie Peavey of Perryville, Myrtle Rose of Williamsburg and Mary P. Crowe of Moreland.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Carey & Son Funeral Home by the Rev. Wendell Douglas. Burial will be on Cemetery Hill.

Visitation is 3-9 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday.

Ruth E. Colaw

SUMTER, S.C. -- Ruth M. Estes Colaw, 89, of Sumter died here Monday.

Born Sept. 8, 1911, in Yosemite, she was the daughter of the late Henry C. and Bessie T. Pigg Estes. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution and Eastern Star. She had served as a nursing assistant during World War II.

Survivors include her husband, Owen L. Colaw; a daughter, Shirley J. Howell of Sumter; a son, Larry W. Colaw of Tellico Village, Tenn.; and six grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial will be in The National Cemetery, Florence, S.C.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at Bullock Funeral Home.

Memorials may go to Trinity United Methodist Church youth ministry, W. 226 Liberty, Sumter, S.C., 29150, or a favorite charity.

Sara Jane Green

OWENTON -- Sara Jane Green, 15, of Owenton, daughter of Melinda J. Ayres Green of Owenton and Norman Green Jr. of Danville, died Monday in Owen County.

Born Dec. 27, 1985, in Lexington, she was a student and cheerleader at Owen County High School and a member of Owenton First Baptist Church.

Other survivors include a brother, Adam Z. Green of Owenton; maternal grandparents, Buddy and Jane Ayres of Owenton; paternal grandparents, Norman and Dorothy Green of Danville; two stepsisters, Tori and Myrna Sheene of Danville; and a half sister, Hannah Green of Danville.

WINCHESTER -- Ralph Oliver of Winchester, owner of Boyle Industrial Storage for 21 years and cousin of Vie Foley of Danville, died Tuesday at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Church in Winchester.

Visitation is noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Robert L. Benge

Services for Robert Lee Benge, 74, of Center Street will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by the Revs. Ralph Godbey and Gary Douglas. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.

He died Monday at his home.

Born Feb. 11, 1926, in Boyle County, he was the son of the late Andrew J. and Lucy Evans Benge. He was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Watkins Benge; a daughter, Patty Taylor of McAfee; a sister, Helen Montgomery of Danville; a granddaughter; and a great-grandson.

Pallbearers will be Everett Cheatham, Jason Waford, Dan Hayes, Raymond Montgomery, Keith Taylor and Talmadge Gwinn. Honorary pallbearers are Clyde Atkins Jr. and Jackie Benge.

Winifred Coffey

LANCASTER -- Services for Winifred "Winnie" Coffey, 84, of Gilberts Creek Road will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Spurlin Funeral Home by the Rev. Everett Priddy. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.

She died Monday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born May 4, 1916, in Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Whitaker. She was a retired homemaker and a member of Kirksville Baptist Church. She was the widow of George E. Coffey.

Survivors include two sons, Eddie Coffey of Lancaster and Ronnie Coffey of Pell City, Ala.; a sister, Helen Davis of Nicholasville; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Statom, Mike Elam, Jerry Coffey, Paul East, Allen East and Tom East. Honorary pallbearers are Jeff East, Mike Coffey, Bobby Curtis, Lee Kurtz and A.D. East.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today.

Peyton Denny

CRAB ORCHARD -- Services for James Peyton Denny, 95, of Maple Street will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home by Vola Brown.

Burial will be in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.

He died Tuesday at Danville Centre for Health and Rehabilitation.

Born March 6, 1905, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Frank and Mollie Oaks Denny. He was the widower of Liza Mullins Denny.

He was a retired farmer and had served in the Civilian Conservation Corps.

Survivors include two daughters, Rosetta Braley of Crab Orchard and Lucille Muse of Williamstown; four sons, Hobert Denny and Ray Denny, both of Crab Orchard, Leroy Denny of Westchester, Ohio, and Arthur Denny of Norwood, Ohio; two sisters, Secretta Blackwell and Nellie Johnson, both of Cincinnati; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Clayton, Chris and Chad Denny, Jerry Pingleton, and Calvin and Andrew Denny.

Visitation is after 4:30 p.m. today.

Memorials may go to Gideons International, Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery fund, or East End Ambulance Service.
