Loriene R. Lee

LANCASTER -- Services for Loriene Ray Lee, 86, of Lancaster will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Spurlin Funeral Home by Jerry Browning. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.

She died Sunday at her home.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Lee, Randall Ellis, Ronnie Maupin, Arthur Ray, Bobby Browning and Darrell Edgington.

Honorary pallbearers are Elizabeth, Heather, Krista and Blake Lee, and Miranda Ellis, Tiffany Jones, Bob Klausing and Danny Browning.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today.

Memorials may go to Forks of Dix River Baptist Church.

James V. Sims

STANFORD --Services for James Verdon Sims, 67, of U.S. 27 South will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fox Funeral Home by Gary Yocum. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery with military rites by Caswell Saufley Post 18, American Legion.

He died Sunday at his home.

Born April 4, 1933, in Kings Mountain, he was a son of the late Oscar Sims and Nellie Hogue Sims Walls. He was a former security guard for Hitachi and a member of Green River Pentecostal Church. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Godby Sims; three sons, Darvin E. Sims of Norwood, Ohio, James R. Sims and Richard L. Sims, both of Stanford; a daughter, Rebecca S. Hines of Stanford; two brothers, J.W. Walls of New Salem and Larry D. Walls of Kings Mountain; a sister, Brenda S. Walls of New Salem; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Shelby Lakes, Marvin Rogers, James Hodgens, Shirley Givens, Troy Gingras, Darik Barnett and Donnie Godby.

Honorary pallbearers are doctors, nurses and staff of the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Cooper Drive, Lexington.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today.

William C. Cox

William C. Cox, 74, of White Oak Road died Sunday.

Born Aug. 27, 1926, in Casey County, he was the son of the late George W. and Mattie W. Goode Cox. He was a retired farmer and employee of Caldwell Stone.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Strunk Cox; and a sister, Mable Myers of Danville.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Danville Memorial Gardens by the Rev. David Smith. There will be no visitation.

Pallbearers will be Edward Robinson, Lloyd Wineland, Bobby Strunk, Bill Myers, John Price and Cecil Maddox. Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

PERRYVILLE -- Betty Tucker Ellis, 64 of Webster Road died Sunday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. She was the wife of Dale Keith Ellis. Arrangements are incomplete at Wilder Funeral Home.

Charles Dees

ROGERSVILLE, Tenn. -- Charles W. "Mutt" Dees, 70, of Rogersville died Friday at Morristown Hamblen Hospital in Morristown, Tenn.

Born April 12, 1930, in Indiana, he was the son of the late Preston and Marie Lay Dees. He was formerly of Lincoln County. He was retired from Roadway Express after being employed for 26 years.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel Neal Dees; two sons, Donald W. "Billy" and Walter N. "Tinker" Dees, both of Rogersville; a daughter, Marsha Dees Russell of Morristown; and a granddaughter.

Services were Sunday at Stubblefield Funeral Home by Ben Collins. Burial was in Hamblen Memories Gardens in Morristown.

Honorary pallbearers included Douglas and David Neal of Stanford.

Leslie Downs

MORELAND -- Leslie Downs, 75, of Junction City died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born May 6, 1925, in Casey County, he was the son of the late Turner and Leaner Hall Downs.

Survivors include his wife, Eva Downs of Junction City; two sons, Hershell Downs of Junction City and Randell Downs of Stanford; a daughter, P.J. Coomer of Gravel Switch; two brothers, Herbert Downs of Junction City and Floyd Downs of Casey County; a sister, Mammie Propes of Hustonville; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home. Burial will be in Moreland Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brad Coomer, Dewey Moore, Mike Johnson, Shawn Hall, P.J. Coomer, Randell Downs and Hershell Downs.

Visitation is 5:30-9 p.m. today.

Zara V. Durr

HARRODSBURG -- Zara Vivian Durr, 81, of Harrodsburg Health Care Center died Saturday at Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 3, 1919, in Murray, she was the daughter of the late James W. and Flossie L. Douglas Jones. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. She was the widow of Roy Durr Jr.

Survivors include three sons, Gary and Terry Durr, both of Harrodsburg, and John Durr of Nicholasville; a daughter, Valerie Durr of Bluegrass Station; a brother, T.R. Jones of Mentone, Ind.; two sisters, Mary Anderson of Lavonia, Mich., and Chettie Winter of Yellow Springs, Ohio; and four grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Kenneth Preston. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Durr, Hunter Durr, Frank Preston, James Winter, Bob Driggers and Steve Taylor.

Visitation will be after 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Lorena H. Elam

CRAB ORCHARD -- Lorena Harris Elam, 98, of Cedar Street died Sunday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital.

Born Nov. 27, 1902, in Stanford, she was the daughter of the late William and Lizzie T. Adams Harris. She was a member of Crab Orchard Baptist Church and the widow of Charles F. Elam.

Survivors include two sons, Charles W. Elam of Crab Orchard and Pete L. Elam of Southgate, Mich.; two daughters, Pauline Jamison of Taylor, Mich., and Lizzie Harrison of Largo, Fla.; 21 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and 29 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Jamison.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Crab Orchard Baptist Church by the Rev. Norman Young. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Tuesday at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home.

Memorials may go to Shriners Hospital in Lexington.

Roberta Elliott

LIBERTY -- Roberta Elliott, 86, of Waynesburg died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Sept. 29, 1914, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Kendrick and Nora Austin Elliott. She was a homemaker and member of Mount Olive Christian Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Delta Wall and Hazel Elliott, both of Waynesburg.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Olive Christian Church by the Rev. Greg Powell. Burial will be in Salyers Cemetery.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

Phillip R. Hasty

BEREA -- Phillip Ray Hasty, 58, of Slate Lick Road died Saturday at his home.

Born Jan. 20, 1942, he was the son of Clyde Hasty of Parksville and the late Susie Johnson Hasty. He was a self-employed barber, an Army veteran, a Shriner with Oleika Temple and a member of Gloryland Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ella "Mauda" Chasteen Hasty; a sister, Mary Lapenta of Stanton Island, N.Y.; a brother, Robert Thompson of Punta Gorda, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lakes Funeral Home by the Rev. Cecil Burns. Burial will be in Chasteen Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Rob McCollum, Jeff Thompson, Vince McGuire, and Tony, Floyd, Steve, Mickey and Jason Chasteen. Honorary pallbearers are Ivan Camden and William Chasteen.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Tuesday.

MIDDLEBURG -- William David Hatter, 60, of Yosemite died Sunday at his home.

Born April 10, 1940, in Yosemite, he was the son of the late Lewis and Lois D. Black Hatter. He was a farmer and a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his caregivers, Joe and Lynette Black of Yosemite; a brother, Lewis Darrell Hatter of Yosemite; and three sisters, Patty Britton of Lexington, Sandra Wilkins of Indiana, and Racenia Roller of Shelbyville.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bartle Funeral Home by the Rev. C.B. Carman. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is after 6 p.m. today.
