Frances C. Camfield

LIBERTY -- Frances Clements Camfield, 74, of Columbus, Ind., formerly of Casey County, died Friday at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Born April 3, 1928, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Delmar Rose Clements. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Dyke of North Vernon, Ind.; two sons, Larry Sluder of Morristown, Tenn., and Randall Sluder of Edinburgh, Ind.; six brothers, Murrell Clements of Boston, Mass., Paul Clements of Chicago, William Clements of Indianapolis, James Clements of Shelbyville, Ind., Donald Clements of Franklin, Ind., and Norbert Clements of Columbus, Ind.; two sisters, Martha Wethington and William Samuel, both of Derby, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bernard Catholic Church by the Rev. Mark Hamilton. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Visitation is after 6 p.m. today at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Marie Terhune

HARRODSBURG -- Marie Terhune, 96, formerly of Belmont Circle, died Saturday at Danville Centre for Health and Rehabilitation in Danville.

Born March 1, 1906, in Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Alvin and May Chumley Peavler.

She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

She was the sister-in-law of Earl Terhune of Harrodsburg, and is survived by a half-brother; a half-sister; two nephews; and several cousins.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home by the Rev. Lester Caldwell. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Willie B. and Don Horn, J.L. Walker, Bob Richmond, Bob and Cecil VanDiver, Garnett Ruble and Kenny Baker.

Honorary pallbearers are member of the Sun Sunday School Class of Calvary Baptist Church.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today and after 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Lawrence J. Wray

STANFORD -- Lawrence Jay Wray, 61, of Bowen Road died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Aug. 2, 1941, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Ira and Ethel Coffman Wray. He was a farmer and a member of Bowen United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Coontz; a son, Lawrence Wray Jr. of Danville; two daughters, Lisa Wray of Danville and Cindy Wray of Stanford; two brothers, Wayne Wray and Leonard Wray, both of Stanford; two sisters, Bobbie Mattingly of Junction City and Elsie Wilson of Gravel Switch; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Danville Church of God by Lonnie Daugherty. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Cutter, Ray Price, Chris Cook, Doug Coomer, Tony Allen Scottie Wray, Robbie and Mark Coontz.

Honorary pallbearers are Danny Crowe, Shane Morrison, Ed Music, Chris Johnson, Joe Grubbs and Bud Carter.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. today at Fox Funeral Home.

Helen I. Davis

Services for Helen Brown Irvine Davis of Charleston Green will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home by Harry Rietze. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.

She died Saturday at her home.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Davis III, Harrison Davis, Charles Hartman, Mark Herrick, E.R. Purdom, Mike Perros and Irvin Fox. Honorary pallbearers are Linda Dye, Mae Elliott, Jeanene Ford, Lydia Harris, Sue Houp and Sandy Myers.

Visitation will be after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Memorials may go to The Salvation Army or Danville-Boyle County Humane Society.

Dorothy B. Kalina

PERRYVILLE -- Services for Dorothy Balick Kalina, 77, of West Fifth Street will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wilder Funeral Home by the Rev. Jimmy Owens. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

She died Saturday in Lexington at the home of a son.

Born July 21, 1925, in Virginia, she was self-employed caregiver and attended Perryville Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Fulton of Maryland; three sons, Donald Kalina of New Jersey, David Kalina of South Carolina and John Richard Kalina of Lexington; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Reid.

Pallbearers are Donald and John Richard Kalina, John Richard Kalina Jr., Tim Collins, Dickie Mayes and Mike Wilder.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today.

Isa M. Leathers

Services for Isa Mae Miller Leathers, 89, of Danville will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home by the Rev. Bob Bausum.

Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.

She died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Nov. 18, 1912, in Jamestown, she was the daughter of the late Bryant M. and Sedalia Hart Miller. She was a homemaker and a waitress for White House Restaurant and Spoonamore Drug store.

She was a member of Salt River Baptist Church for 50 years and the widow of Granville W. Leathers.

Survivors include three daughters, Ruth L. Rankin and Shirley L. Spears, both of Danville and Judy Hollon of Gravel Switch; three sons, James C. Leathers of Stanford, Jerry B. Leathers of Danville and Jack E. Leathers of Birmingham, Ala.; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Denver "Buck" Leathers and Clyde L. Leathers.

Pallbearers are Chad, Keith, Billy and Jerry Leathers, Johnny Spears, Andy Hooper, Chip Hollon and Jeremy Clement.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. today.

Memorials may go to Gideons International bible fund.

Floyd Lister

Services for Floyd Lister, 80, of Yates Road will be 2 p.m. today at Stith Funeral Home by the Rev. Keith Willoughby.

Burial will be in Junction City Cemetery

He died Friday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Pallbearers will be Matthew, Melvin and Daniel Lister, Brandon and David Brown, Patrick Williams Sr., and Carlos Caldwell.

Hallie J. Burrus

HARRODSBURG -- Services for Hallie Mae Jones Burrus, 102, of Harrodsburg Health Care Center, formerly of North Greenville Street, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Dividing Ridge Baptist Church by the Rev. Boris Carter.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She died Friday at the Health Care Center.

Pallbearers will be Larry and Wayne Meaux, Raymond Patton, Kendall Patton, George Crumes and Randy Sigar.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at Parks Funeral Home and after noon Tuesday at the church.

Helen I. Davis

Helen Brown Irvine Davis of Charleston Green, who served on the Danville Board of Education when integration was implemented, died Saturday at her home.

In an oral history done by The Advocate-Messenger in 1991, Davis said she was prompted to run for the school board after attending a meeting and hearing the discussion about the possibility of integration. "I was so horrified how the people could be so mean."

A few years later she ran for the office and sat on a board that fully supported integration.

E.R. "Buddy" Purdom was hired as superintendent when Davis was chairwoman of the board. "She had a sincere interest in young people," he said. "She wanted the board to always do things that really help helped the children. ... She wanted the school system to give the very best education it could offer. I admired her greatly for her ability and concern for children. She was a good friend and very special to me."

During World War II, Davis signed up for pilot training that was offered through Centre College. One duty was to pick up plane for the Army and fly them back from Dayton.

Born in Danville, she was a daughter of the late George and Jessie Madge Miller Irvine. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, Joe Goodridge Davis, and a daughter Helen Brown Davis.

She was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Frankfort where she was a reader. She was a founder of the Danville group of Christian Science. She served on the Danville school board for eight and served as chairwoman for four years.

She was a graduate of the University of Kentucky where she as a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She had taught swimming and tennis and been involved in various civic and community organizations.

Survivors include two sons, John T. Davis of Danville and Joe G. Davis Jr. of Atlanta; a brother, John Irvine of Ashland; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home by Harry Rietze, reader, of Frankfort First Church of Christ, Scientists. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Salvation Army or Danville-Boyle County Humane Society.

Visitation after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
