Cindy Gilliam

LANCASTER -- Services for Cindy Gilliam, 45, of Countryside Drive will be 1 p.m. Monday at Ramsey Funeral Home by the Revs. Neil Highley and Barry Jeffries. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.

She died Thursday at Central Baptist Hospital.

Born June 18, 1957, in Garrard County, she was the daughter of Gene and Gladys Warren Richardson of Lancaster. She was a loan assistant for First Southern National Bank.

Other survivors include her daughter, Amy Gilliam of Danville; a son, Jacob Gilliam of Lancaster; three sisters, Debbie Amsler, Pam Cornelius and Sherry Johnson, all of Lancaster.

Pallbearers will be Eric and Jeremy Cornelius, Jerry Pelphrey, John Ball, J.W. Hazlett and Sam Miller.

Honorary pallbearers are Harold Layton, Jan Adams, Jeanne Carrier, Yvonne Horseman, Krystal Floyd and Carolyn Carrier.

Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. Sunday.

Grace Peel

LANCASTER -- Services for Grace Peel, 80, of Totten Avenue will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Ramsey Funeral Home by the Rev. Bryce McCulley. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.

She died Wednesday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 31, 1922, in Garrard County, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Moody Hurt Preston. She was the widow of Joe Peel.

Survivors include two sisters, Ruth Turner and Edith Baker, both of Lancaster; four half sisters, Leoma Turner, Nina Gilliam and Patsy Gilliam, all of Lancaster, and Bonnie Ledford of Crab Orchard; two half brothers, Virgil Preston and Kinnaird Preston, both of Mitchellsburg; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Gordon Peel.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today.

Alejandro Griffin

STANFORD -- Alejandro Willis Marques Griffin, 20-day-old son of Jessica Griffin and Incencio Gonzales of Harrodsburg, died Wednesday at his home.

He was born Nov. 1 in Stanford.

Other survivors include a brother, Jesse Griffin, at home; a sister, Dawn Griffin, at home; grandparents, Alejandro Ponce and Pauline Gonzales Mata, both of Hidalgo, Mexico; Jesse L. Griffin and Patricia Deihl, both of Danville, and Jeffrey and Marcia Caudill of Harrodsburg; great-grandparents, Mitchell and Wanda Raines of Lancaster and Florence Stringer of Danville; and great-great-grandmother, Effie Mason of Danville.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Fox Funeral Home by the Rev. Michael Weglicki. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Friday until time of service.

HARRODSBURG -- Jamie L. Day, 25, of Bailey Pike died Tuesday in Boyle County. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Dana and Smith Perkins III of Mercer County, and his father and stepmother, Carl and Pam Day of Danville. Arrangements are incomplete at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Charles T. Goodlett

HARRODSBURG -- Charles T. Goodlett Jr., 73, of Talmage-Mayo Road, Salvisa, died Wednesday at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Lexington.

Born April 28, 1929, in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Charles T. and Cora Gritton Goodlett. He was a retired mason and grocer, a member of Kirkwood Baptist Church and had served in the Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Lynn Simms Goodlett; a son, Kevin Goodlett of Mercer County; three daughters, Tammy Goodpaster of Mercer County, Sherry Sever of Lexington and Angela Goodlett of Versailles; nine brothers, Leon and Donald Goodlett, both of Nicholasville, John, Joe, Tommy, Jerry and James Goodlett, all of Mercer County, Cleo Goodlett of Barbourville and Michael Goodlett of Harrodsburg; four sisters, Barbara J. Blackburn, Linda A. Mitchell and Elizabeth Goodlett, all of Louisville, and Brenda J. Drury of Bardstown; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Kirkwood Baptist Church by Ray Coates and Jerel Coffey. Burial will be in Kirkwood Cemetery, Salvisa, with military rites.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Ransdell Funeral Chapel and 9-11 a.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials may go to Veterans Administration Medical Center.

Juanita F. Medley

HARRODSBURG -- Juanita Faye Medley, 70, of Merriman Avenue died Wednesday at Danville Centre for Health and Rehabilitation.

Born June 18, 1932, in Hazard, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Bertha Jent Asher. She was the widow of Marshall R. Medley. She was a cook for Beaumont Inn and attended Ellers Memorial Baptist Church.

Survivors include seven sons, Marshall J. Medley of Harrodsburg, James, Rufus and Craig Fields, all of Hazard, Roy Fields of Ohio, and Marcus Fields of Georgetown; three daughters, Bertha and Linda Fields, both of Hazard, and Judy Fields of Ohio; two sisters, Clerinda Beginna and Floriene Moore, both of Ohio, and William Asher of Indiana; and three grandchildren.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Kenneth Whitehouse. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Anthony, Jimmy, Daniel, Nathan and Christopher Richardson, Chris Devine and Jeromy Hicks.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today and prior to the service Friday.

Margaret Payne

LEBANON -- Margaret Payne, 67, of Lebanon died Wednesday at Cedars of Lebanon nursing home.

Born June 27, 1935, in Marion County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel T. and Lucille Hays Hourigan. She was a retired Citizens National Bank teller.

Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Wright and Janet Bickett, both of Lebanon; six brothers, Bobby Hourigan of Lebanon, Eugene, George, Larry and Jerry Hourigan, all of Gravel Switch, and Freddie Hourigan of Gainesville, Fla.; eight sisters, Juanita Hodgen of Springfield, Wanelle Shircliff of Fern Creek, Theresa Robson of Louisville, Fayrene Conder of Somerset, Thelma Spalding, Linda Hourigan, Loretta Young and Lorraine Morgan, all of Gravel Switch; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Bosley Funeral Home by the Rev. Darrell Lyon. Burial will be in Hourigan Cemetery.

Visitation is after 5:30 p.m. today.

LANCASTER -- Grace Peel, 79, of Maple Avenue died Wednesday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital. She was the widow of Joe Peel. Arrangements are incomplete at Ramsey Funeral Home.

Hershel T. Popplewell

NEW CASTLE, Ind. -- Hershel T. Popplewell, 79, of New Castle died Tuesday at Americare Living Center.

Born Jan. 28, 1923, in Stanford, he was the son of the late Daniel B. and Martha F. Turpin Popplewell. He was a graduate of Crab Orchard High School, a World War II Army veteran and had served in the Army Reserves during the Korean War. He was a retired employee of Chrysler Corporation. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher and superintendent. He also was a member of United Auto Workers Local Union 371, New Castle Lions Club, New Castle Masonic Lodge and Retired Senior Volunteer Program.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy M. Peckinpaugh Popplewell; two daughters, Julie Wright of New Castle and Amy Dinkins of Noblesville, Ind.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Popplewell.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Macer-Hall Funeral Home by the Rev. Greg Albert. Burial will be in Springport Cemetery with military rites.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials may go to Alzheimer's Caring Friends Organization.

Louis E. Sargent

Services for Louis Erbin Sargent, 62, of Lebanon Road, Parksville, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home by the Rev. Dennis Hisle. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

He died Tuesday at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Pallbearers will be David Vinyard, Butch Wine, Ronnie Maddox, Wayne Clements, J.R. Sargent, Ronald Jones, Hiran Holbrook and Alan Boyd.

Honorary pallbearers are Ross McQuery Jr. and nephews.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. today.

Lewis E. Sargent

Lewis Erbin Sargent, 62, of Lebanon Road, Parksville, died Tuesday at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born Feb. 10, 1940, in Danville, he was the son of the late Lewis Jack and Mary Hines Sargent. He was a heavy equipment operator for Kenny Construction Co. in Mount Sterling and an Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Simpson Sargent; a daughter, Michelle Maddox of Mitchellsburg; a son, David W. Pike of Parksville; three brothers, Jackie Sargent of Fort Myers, Fla., Michael Sargent of Valdosta, Ga., and Lorenzo Sargent of Junction City; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Leonard Hines Sargent.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may go to Parksville Baptist Church.

Grace P. Means

LIBERTY -- Grace Patterson Means, 93, of Stanford, formerly of Liberty, died Monday at Fort Logan Hospital.

Born Aug. 21, 1909, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Willie Mills Patterson. She was a retired farmer, a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and the widow of Chester Means.

Survivors include a son, James Means of Windsor; two daughters, Brenda Mullins of Crab Orchard and Betty Brockman of Louisville; a sister, Gladys Foley of Louisville; three brothers, Wilburn Patterson and Ralph Patterson, both of Norwood, Ohio, and Arthur Patterson of Nancy; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mildred Phillips.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Oak Grove Baptist Church by Ken Jewell and Wayne Bowling. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.
