Wayne Sears

Services for Wayne "Shorty" Sears, 50, of Junction City will be 7 p.m. today at Danville Church of God. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Parksville Cemetery. The Rev. Lonnie Daugherty will officiate both services.

Sears died Friday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Pallbearers will be Donald Evans, Tony Archer, Arnold Burton, Glenn Burton, Wayne Boyd, Joe Powell and Robbie McCormack. Honorary pallbearers are grandchildren.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at the church.

Stith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Alza S. Simpson

CRAB ORCHARD -- Alza Smith Simpson, 89, of Sowder Nursing Home, Brodhead, died Wednesday in Brodhead.

Born March 19, 1911, in the Willailla community, she was a daughter of the late Josiah and Docia Brown Smith. She was a homemaker and the widow of Clarence Simpson. She was a member of Mount Zion Church of Christ.

Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Tucker of Crab Orchard; two sons, Fred Simpson of Crab Orchard and Ted Simpson of Newark, Ohio; five step grandchildren; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home by Thaddues Eubank. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Johnson, Bobby Smith, Doug Smith, Frank Brown, Chad Smith and Hubert Manning.

Visitation is after 6 p.m. today at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home.

Dolly Simpson

Services for Dolly D. Simpson, 70, of North Fourth Street will be 11 a.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home by the Rev. Bill Bolt. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

She died Tuesday at her home.

Pallbearers will be Tony Simpson, Lee Belcher, Ronnie Maddox, Ray Ross, David Pike, Alan Boyd, Tim Mills and J.R. Rowe.

Honorary pallbearers are Michael Southerland, Jodie McCowan, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandson whom she raised, Leonard Hines.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. today.

Memorials may go to American Heart Association.

Dolly Simpson

Dolly D. Simpson, 70, of North Fourth Street died Tuesday at her home.

Born May 20, 1930, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Lewis E. and Mary Etta Rayburn Southerland. She was a retired Palm Beach press operator and a member of Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America. She was the widow of Luther "Bunk" Simpson.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda Sargent of Parksville, Debbie Mills of Danville and Peggy Simpson of Hustonville; a brother, Eugene Southerland of Hustonville; three sisters, Margaret Maxey of Covington, Mabel Carey of Hustonville and Pat McCowan of Stanford; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may go to American Heart Association.

Jerry M. Royalty

HARRODSBURG -- Jerry Mack Royalty, 52, of Cardwell Road died Monday at his home after an apparent suicide.

Born Oct. 29, 1947, in Louisville, he was a son of Mary Elizabeth Probus Cash of Louisville and the late Aaron J. Royalty. He was a retired Air Force jet engine mechanic, and Civil Service inspector. He was a veteran of the Vietnam and Persian Gulf wars.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Metten Royalty; stepfather, Gene Cash of Louisville; a son, Vincent D. Royalty of Somerset; a daughter, Nancy L. Schoenberg of Raleigh, N.C.; a sister, Joyce A. Royalty of Prospect; and two grandchildren.

Services will be noon Friday at Mercer Church of Christ by Mike Justice. Burial with military rites will be in the Royalty Cemetery, Washington County.

Pallbearers will be Ray and Charlie Porbus, John Steve Bratten, Bob Warren, David Royalty, Randall Burns and grandsons, Anthony and Nicholas Royalty.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Thursday and 7-9 a.m. Friday at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.

Mary Baughman

STANFORD -- Services for Mary Elizabeth Carson Baughman, 95, formerly of Lincoln County will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Stanford Christian Church by the Rev. Jim Baughman. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

She died Monday at Christian Health Center, Louisville.

Born Sept. 25, 1905, in Stanford, she was a daughter of the late James T. and Susie Bell Carter Carson. She was a retired registered nurse and a member of Stanford Christian Church. She attended Centre College and was a 1928 graduate of Georgetown College. She was the widow of William H. Baughman Sr.

She taught nursing at Norton's Hospital in Louisville and Good Samaritan in Lexington. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Parent Teacher Association, the Garden Club and the church Circles Group. She was active in the Red Cross during World War II and was a substitute teacher in Lincoln County.

Survivors include two sons, William H. Baughman Jr. of Smithfield and Dr. James C. Baughman of Stanford; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be James Baughman Jr., William Baughman, Paul Lewis, Henry Saufley III, Cabel Francis Jr., David Horseman, Charles Hinds and McClary Milton.

Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today at Fox Funeral Home and 9 a.m. Thursday until time of service at the church.

Gladys M. McConaha

Services for Gladys May McConaha, 69, of Old Mitchellsburg Road, Parksville, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Don Drake. Burial will be in Parksville Cemetery.

She died Monday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born May 11, 1931, in Boyle County, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Maude Barnett Crowe. She was a retired nurse, having worked at Fort Logan Hospital, Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center and Dr. Mack Jackson's office.

Survivors include her husband, Harold B. McConaha; two sons, John B. McConaha and Harold D. McConaha, both of Parksville; and two grandsons.

Pallbearers will be Frankie, Darrell, Jay Thomas and Timmy Crowe, John Wilson and Randy Tate.

Honorary pallbearers are J.J. McConaha, Steven McConaha, Danny Crowe, Steve Crews, Ben Wilson, Drs. Quin Bailey, Charles Sisk and Mack Jackson.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today.

Mildred L. Huff

HARRODSBURG -- Mildred Long Huff, 83, of Runyan Road died Sunday at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington.

Born April 19, 1917, in Mercer County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie D. and Iva Mae Corn Long. She was a retired beautician and a retired Cricketeer Manufacturing Co. employee. She was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, James B. Huff; two daughters, Teresa H. Bringardner of Coco Beach, Fla., and Sheila H. Dean of Harrodsburg; a brother, Loman Long of Arkansas; three sisters, Bonnie McRay and Virginia Emmetsberger, both of Louisville, and Marie McRay of Harrodsburg; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lorna Jean Huff.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Andrew Catholic Church by the Rev. Joseph Muench. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today at the church with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials may go to St. Andrew Catholic Church building fund.

Melvin A. Keeling

WAYNESBURG -- Melvin A. Keeling, 67, of Waynesburg died Sunday at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset.

Born Sept. 1, 1932, in Washington County, he was a son of the late Elisha and Anna P. Howerton Keeling. He was a retired Cincinnati transit worker and a member of Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, Katherine Sluder Keeling; three brothers, Lee Keeling of Cincinnati, James Keeling of Covington and Joseph Keeling of Stanton.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home by Samuel McMahon. Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery with military rites by Caswell Saufley Post 18, American Legion.

Visitation is after 6 p.m. today.

Jim Middleton

CRAB ORCHARD -- Jim Middleton, 87, of Broughtontown died Sunday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 26, 1912, in Lincoln County, he was a son of Joe and Lula Cummins Middleton. He was a logger, farmer and sawmill operator. He attended Friendship Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lucy M. Brock Middleton; three daughters, Lucille Thompson of Reading, Ohio, Mae Johnson of Waynesburg and Mary Waynick of Clarksville, Tenn.; three sons, James, Joe and Jerry Middleton, all of Crab Orchard; four sisters, Nancy Dunaway of Stanford, and Denise Stamm, Theresa Craig and Rosa Stethem, all of Miamisburg, Ohio; four brothers, Johnny Middleton of Marion, Ohio, Coy Middleton of Stanford and Roger and Rodney Middleton of Miamisburg; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home by Mike Mullins. Burial will be in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Keith Middleton, Randy Kidd, Billy Petrey, Anthony, Chris and Josh Middleton.

Visitation is after 6 p.m. today at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home.
