Virginia B. Douglas

Virginia Bowmer Douglas, 55, of Worldstown Road, died Tuesday at her home after a long illness.

Born July 11, 1945, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Virgil and Lida Bowmer. She was a homemaker and a member of Wordstown Road Church of God.

Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Wendell L. Douglas; a son, Lee Douglas of Junction City; four sisters, Barbara Peavley and Betty Wheeler, both of Junction City, and Irene Jenkins and Mildred Northern, both of Indianapolis.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Worldstown Road Church of God. Burial will be in South Fork Ridge Cemetery, Casey County.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Stith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Betty A. Baugh

HARRODSBURG -- Betty Ann Baugh, 68, of Bowman Street died Monday at her home. She was the wife of Melvin "Roy" Baugh. Arrangements are incomplete at Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

Billy W. Belcher

CRAB ORCHARD -- Billy Wayne Belcher, 50, of Mount Vernon, formerly of Crab Orchard, died Tuesday at his home.

He was a son of Vena Belcher of Crab Orchard and the late David Belcher. He was a manager of Family Life Counseling Service, a part of Christian Appalachian Project and had a private counseling practice in Corbin. He was a graduate of Sue Bennett College and Scarritt College for Christian Workers and received his master's degree in social work from University of Kentucky.

Other survivors include a daughter, Kara L. Belcher of Washington Courthouse, Ohio; a son, Tyler G. Belcher of Washington Courthouse; six brothers, Earl Belcher of Harrodsburg, Don Belcher of Crab Orchard, Jim Belcher of Lancaster, Gerald Belcher of Stanford and Bobby Belcher of Mississippi; four sisters, Roberta Singleton of Westchester, Ohio, Virginia Harness of South Shore, Beulah Pearce of Westchester, and Mary Jane Belcher of Crab Orchard.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Crab Orchard Baptist Church by Norman Young. Burial will be in Wilmont Cemetery, Copper Creek.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Thursday at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.

Eddie C. Price

MORELAND -- Eddie Clay Price, 92, of Ellisburg died Monday in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Born May 18, 1908, in Bourbon County, he was a son of the late Ben and Pearl Smith Price. He was a retired farmer and an employee of the state highway department for several years. He was he widower of Lydia Coffman Price and was preceded in death by a son, Glen Price.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharleen Phillips of Danville and Paula Coontz of Chattanooga; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by G.W. Smith. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Robbie, Mark and Rob Coontz, Jamie Phillips, Danny Crowe, Shane Morrison, Doug and D.J. Coomer.

Honorary pallbearers are Marvin Phillips, Wayne Beldon, Donald and Jack Price, Darold Coffman, Frankie Thompson, Dr. Rick Nallinger and Joe Coomer.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Thursday.

Arthur R. Mounce

SOMERSET -- Arthur Raymond Mounce, 77, of Somerset died Saturday at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Lexington.

Born Oct. 22, 1922, in Somerset he was a son of the late Pearl Thacker and Ed Mounce. He was a retired self-employed drywaller and a World War II Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma C. Loveless Mounce; two sons, Arthur Mounce Jr. of Somerset and Vernon Mounce of Stanford; eight daughters, Eva M. Wright of Burnside, Mary Ann Mounce, Connie F. Mounce and Susan Mounce, all of Somerset, Charlotte Bailey of Mount Vernon, Sylvia Brumley of Harrodsburg, Clara Maxwell of California, and Barbara Gooch of Stanford; a sister, Florence Gann of Cookville, Tenn.; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Curtis J. Mounce.

Services were Tuesday at Lange and New Brothers Funeral Home by Gilbert Robinson. Burial was in White Lilly Cemetery.

Elizabeth G. Wrenn

LANCASTER -- Elizabeth Gaffney Wrenn, 78, of Shepherdsville died Tuesday at her home.

Born Sept. 8, 1921, in Garrard County, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Nora E. Payne Gaffney. She was a homemaker and the widow of Oscar L. Wrenn.

Survivors include a son, Billy G. Wrenn of Shepherdsville; three brothers, Floyd, Leslie and Arthur Gaffney Jr., all of Lancaster; four sisters, Elsie Davis of Lancaster, Katherine McIntire of Franklin, Ohio, Allene Games of Lawrenceburg, and Joyce Hunt of Versailles; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Ramsey Funeral Home by the Revs. William Payne and Mike Rogers. Burial will be in Payne Family Cemetery.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Omar N. Gillum

HARRODSBURG -- A memorial service for Omar "Nick" Gillum, 61, of Lexington will be held at a later date.

He died Monday in Lexington.

Born Jan. 27, 1939, in Jackson, he was a son of the late B.J. and Marie Miller Gillum. He was a retired salesman for Casey Chevrolet and served in the Marine Corps.

Survivors include a son, James Gillum of Covington; two daughters, Lisa Rhoat of Fort Pierce, Fla., and Nichole Masry of Richmond; a brother, B.J. Gillum of Lexington; two sisters, Harriet Murphy of Lexington and Susie Freeman of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Eva D. McGuire

HARRODSBURG -- Services for Eva Darland McGuire, 96, widow of John H. McGuire, formerly of North Main Street, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home by James Harley. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

She died Tuesday at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 8, 1903, in Washington County, she was a daughter of the late William L. and Ivona Cornish Darland. She was a homemaker, a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Widow to Widow Club and Mercer County Senior Citizens.

Survivors include five sons, Ralph and Vernon McGuire of Harrodsburg, Keith McGuire of Clarksville, Ind., Eugene McGuire of Mount Sterling and Leslie McGuire of Louisville; three daughters, Pauline Caine of Louisville, LaVerne Grider of Harrodsburg and Irene Harlow of Burgin; two brothers, Bill and Leroy Darland, both of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Alma Black and Jean Vanarsdale, both of Harrodsburg; 27 grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sons, James, John H. and Kenneth L. McGuire; a daughter, Mary E. McGuire; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Caine, Tony McGuire, James McGuire Jr., Tim Springate, Jimmy Springate II, Travis McGuire, and William T. Caine.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today and after 7 a.m. Thursday.

Hopie L. Carter

STANFORD -- Hopie Edith Logue Carter, 75, of South Fork died Monday in Lexington.

Born Sept. 13, 1924, in Mercer County, she was a daughter of the late Harrison T. and Lydia Camden Logue. She was a musician and composer, and a homemaker. She was a member of South Fork Baptist Church and a past member of Nicholasville Baptist Church. She was a Kentucky Colonel, a past president of McKinney Homemakers Club and a founding member of Fork and Mountain Homemakers Organization. She was the widow of Huite L. Carter.

Survivors include three sons, Huite Carter of Springboro, Ohio, Jeff Carter of Lexington and Randy Carter of Indianapolis; three sisters, Fannie L. Southerland of Danville, Ella Mae Burns of Springfield and Hallie D. Lanham of Danville.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Spurlin Funeral Home by the Rev. Bob Kiper. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Billy, Sammy, Eddie and Ross Lanham, Kenny and Warren Carpenter, Elmer Burns and Robert Bowen.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today.

Memorials may go to Hospice of the Bluegrass.

Thelma F. Elliott

LIBERTY -- Thelma Foxx Elliott, 73, of Toledo, Ohio, formerly of Casey County, died Sunday in Toledo.

Born Sept. 25, 1926, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Jeff and Lee Burris Foxx. She was a retired school bus driver in Ohio and the widow of Virgil Elliott. She was a member of Russell Springs Christian Church.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Phyllis Hitter of Waterville, Ohio; a brother, J.C. Foxx of Cincinnati; two step grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren.

Services were today at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by Carroll Egnew. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Arvis Bernard, Therman Terry, David Tarter, Bill Trammel, Dickie and Steve Foxx.

John H. Mitchell

LEXINGTON -- John Henry Mitchell, 76, of Waynesburg, formerly of Lexington, died Sunday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born in Carlisle, he was a son of the late John W. and Dixie Watkins Mitchell. He was a retired farmer and the widower of Ethel Jane Alcorn Mitchell.

Survivors include a daughter, Janet Gilpin of Waynesburg; a son, William Mitchell of Nicholasville; two sisters, Viola Duncan of LaGrange, and Bertie Ginn of Dayton, Ohio; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services were today at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home by the Rev. Byron Jessup. Burial was in Carlisle Cemetery.
