John H. Baker

HARRODSBURG -- John H. Baker, 93, of Harrodsburg died Monday at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center, Wilmore.

Born Sept. 30, 1906, in Moreland, he was a son of the late George C. and Allie Haley Baker. He was a plumber for Goodlett and Hazlett. He was an Army veteran and a member of Harrodsburg Christian Church, Lions Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He was the widower of Aline Tatum Baker.

Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer J. Long of Harrodsburg; a son, Michael Bugg of Harrodsburg; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Mark Girard. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with military rites.

Visitation is 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials may go to American Diabetes Foundation.

Beulah M. Schooling

HARRODSBURG -- Beulah McCristal Schooling, 91, of Louisville, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Monday at her home. She was the widow of Gordon Schooling. Arrangements are incomplete at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Louise H. Owens

Services for Louise Hammons Owens, 76, of Cemetery Street, Junction City, were today at Stith Funeral Home by the Rev. Charles Douglas. Burial was in Junction City Cemetery.

She died Sunday at her home.

Pallbearers were Johnny Owens, Jimmy Kirkpatrick, David Hammons, Mark Hogue, Ben Reynolds and Bill Dollins.

Elsie R. Culbertson

Graveside services for Elsie R. Culbertson, 96, of Lexington Avenue will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Greenville Cemetery, Greenville, Ohio, by the Rev. Jay Pasick.

She died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Mattie S. Deringer

HARRODSBURG -- Services for Mattie Settles Deringer, 91, of Deringer Road will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Deep Creek Baptist Church by Hilary Claypool and Everett Priddy. Burial will be in Deep Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

She died Monday at Charleston Health Care Center, Danville.

Born March 18, 1909, in Washington County, she was a daughter of the late Lee and Florence Keeling Settles. She was a homemaker, a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church. She was the widow of Walter B. Deringer.

Survivors include two sons, Marvin and Rueben Deringer, both of Harrodsburg; four daughters, Juanita Bottom of Washington County, Ella Rose Bottoms of Mackville, and Mary Lee Wilkerson and Shirley Logue, both of Harrodsburg; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Daryl and Sheryl Deringer.

Pallbearers will be Joedy Bottom, Wayne Deringer, Donnie Bottoms, Howard Logue Jr., Mark Wilkerson and Roger Deringer.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today and 7-11 a.m. Wednesday at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home, and noon Wednesday until time of service at the church.

Wanda K. Scott

STANFORD --Services for Wanda Lee King Scott, 41, of Stanford will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Green River Pentecostal Church by Rick Naylor, Gene Noe and Ed Carman. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

She died Monday at her home of natural causes.

Born Nov. 12, 1958, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of Emma Brown King of McKinney and the late James R. King. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Greg Scott of Chula Vista, Calif., and John Scott of Crab Orchard; a daughter, Lavonda Scott of Crab Orchard; six brothers, James T. "Buddie" King of Berea, Steve, Marvin, Johnny and Ricky King, all of McKinney, and Bobby King of Kings Mountain; four sisters, Dora Sherbert of Lexington, Virginia Gordon of Stanford, Rosie McCoy of Prestonsburg and Teresa King of Danville; and a grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Brown, Jason King, Marvin Carey Jr., Tony Short, Kenny Hodge, Zack McCoy, and Jamie and Lynn Releford.

Visitation is after 6 p.m. today at the church.

Fox Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

HARRODSBURG -- Services for Rowena Bernice Norton, 72, of Harrodsburg were scheduled for 1 p.m. today at Ransdell Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Lowell Langfield. Burial is in Hopewell Cemetery.

She died Friday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville.

Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Elwood Norton; three sons, Jerry Norton of Shelbyville, Dennis Norton of Carlisle and Glenn Norton of Harrodsburg; three brothers, Elijah B. Yates of Lexington, Cleo Yates of Jackson, Mich., and Don Billy Yates of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Neva Wallace of Georgetown and Marlene VanArsdall of Harrodsburg; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to Mount Hebron United Methodist Church.

Sue Franklin

CHELSEA, Mich. -- Sue Franklin, 63, of Chelsea died Sunday at her home.

Born July 15, 1936, in Richmond, she was a daughter of the late Ambrose and Flonnie M. White Morgan. She was a homemaker and a member of First Assembly of God.

Survivors include her husband, David R. Franklin; two daughters, Edna Ensign of Manchester, Mich., and Marilyn Holderman of Perryville; a son, David W. Boswell of Saline, Mich.; six grandchildren; and a stepdaughter, Donna Franklin.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cole Funeral Home by the Rev. Marty Carter. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday.

Elsie Ryan Culbertson, 96, of Lexington Avenue died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born May 27, 1903, in Greenville, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Omer C. and Cadia Ullery Ryan. She was a homemaker and a member of Southern Hills Methodist Church. She was the widow of Thomas R. Culbertson.

Survivors include a daughter, Diane Pasick of Danville; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara McBride.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Abbottsville Cemetery, Abbottsville Ohio.

Memorials may go to McDowell Foundation.

Louise Hammons Owens, 76, of Cemetery Street, Junction City, died Sunday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Sept. 11, 1923, in Junction City, she was a daughter of the late Claud and Carrie Chase Trisler Hammons. She was a beautician, a member of Junction City United Methodist Church and a graduate of Junction City High School and Durham Beauty School.

Survivors include her husband, Douglas T. Owens; two sons, Terry N. Owens of Danville and Jimmy Owens of Perryville; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home by the Rev. Charles Douglas. Burial will be in Junction City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Owens, Jimmy Kirkpatrick, Troy Owens, Mark Foley, Ben Reynolds and John David Owens.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. today.

Catherine Ragland

HARRODSBURG -- Catherine Ragland, 81, of Ross Avenue died Friday at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born June 15, 1918, in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Henry K. and Hester Sims Yates. She was co-owner of pharmacies in Lexington, Nicholasville and Elizabethtown. She was a member of Harrodsburg Christian Church.

Survivors include a son, Mickey Ragland of Glendale; a daughter, Joy Nasados of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Elizabeth James of Harrodsburg; three grandchildren; and a great grandson.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel by the Rev. David Hartman. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bernice Hale, Elijah Yates, Don Billy Yates, Don Fisher, Michael Fisher, Jimmy Dean and Michael Sanders.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday.

Memorials may go to Harrodsburg Christian Church Restoration Fund.
