Bonnie June Luttrell Whittle

LIBERTY -- Bonnie June Luttrell Whittle, 65, of Ky. 910, died Thursday at Russell County Hospital.

Born June 1, 1934, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late John and Emma Southerland Luttrell. She was a homemaker and a member of Canaan Valley Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Joan and Carla Humes, both of Liberty; two sons, Greg Luttrell of Liberty and Patrick Humes of Lorida, Fla.; a special nephew she raised, Steven Meeks of Frankfort; three brothers, Arnold Luttrell of Liberty, and Cecil and Owen Luttrell, both of Russell Springs; and three grandchildren.

Services are 2 p.m. today at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by Clifford D. Hart. Burial will be in Bertie Russell Cemetery.

Visitation is after 8 a.m. Sunday.

Kathryn A. Schnieders

Services for Kathryn Chappell Anderson Schnieders, 85, of Charleston Greene will be 11 a.m. Monday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Thomas K. Farmer. A memorial and interment service will be 3 p.m. Monday at Resthaven Cemetery, Louisville.

She died Friday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Pallbearers will be Nelson Rodes, Bill Dishman, Ray Spivey, Leland Hurley, Bill Barker and Jerry Blesch.

Charles Smothers

PERRYVILLE -- Services for Charles Smothers, 77, of Needmore Road were Saturday at Wilder Funeral Home by the Revs. John McDaniels and Tim Smothers. Burial was in Beech Grove Cemetery.

He died Thursday at Medco Medical Center, Springfield.

Pallbearers were Melissa Horton, Darin Horton, Doug Smothers, Craig Arnold, Chris Turner, Billy Joe Carpenter and Bob Summers. Honorary pallbearers were William Russell, Joanna Bottom, Betty Young, Herb Wright and Leo Hardin.

Eugene Eaton

CRAB ORCHARD -- Services for Eugene Eaton, 72, of Copper Creek Road will be noon Monday at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home Chapel by Dan Gutenson, with military rites by American Legion Post No. 46 of Danville. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

He died Friday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Visitation is after 6 p.m. today. A Masonic rite will be 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Doug Brock, Eddie Bryant, Paul Doyle, Regal Baldwin, Mike Hardwick and Rick Cummins.

Kathryn A. Schnieders

Kathryn Chappell Anderson Schnieders, 85, of Charleston Greene died today at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Feb. 11, 1915, in Louisville, she was a daughter of the late Stuard and Ivy Lillian Leet Chappell. She was the widow of Joseph Anderson and Cornell M. Schnieders. She was retired from General Electric after 25 years of service and was a member of The Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a son, Joseph C. Anderson of Danville; a sister, Doris Webster of Alexandria, Va.; a half sister, Blanche Brust of Fredricksburg, Va.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, John Anderson.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Thomas K. Farmer. A memorial and interment service will be 3 p.m. Monday at Resthaven Cemetery, Louisville.

Visitation is 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home.

Charles Smothers

PERRYVILLE -- Charles Smothers, 77, of Needmore Road died Thursday at Medco Medical Center, Springfield.

Born May 1, 1923, in Marion County, he was a son of the late John H. and Lena Lanham Smothers. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church. He served in the Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart.

Survivors include his wife, Reva Hardin Smothers; a daughter, Kay Arnold of Springfield; a son, Steve Smothers of Danville; a sister, Margaret Smyser of Winchester; two brothers, Garland Smothers of Perryville and Don Smothers of Danville; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Wilder Funeral Home by the Revs. John McDaniels and Tim Smothers. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today.

Marlie H. Brummett

CRAB ORCHARD -- Marlie H. Hopkins Brummett, 75, of Jim Weaver Road died Thursday at her residence from complications associated with cancer.

Born Aug. 17, 1924, in Harlan County, she was a daughter of the late W.M. and Rose Ella Brock Hopkins. She was a homemaker, a member of the Pentecostal Church and the widow of James C. Brummett.

Survivors include five sons, James Brummett Jr., Effie Brummett and Ronnie Brummett, all of Brodhead, and Billy Ray Brummett of Elwood, Ind., and Bobby Brummett of Crab Orchard; four daughters, Pearlie Lawson of Indiana and Ruby J. Bryant, Carolyn Woodall and Sharon S. Bray, all of Brodhead; a sister, Shirley Turner of Crab Orchard; two brothers, Zach Hopkins of Nicholasville and Ernest Hopkins of Crab Orchard; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home by Norman Young. Burial will be in Brummett family cemetery, Brodhead.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. Saturday and after 8 a.m.. Sunday.

Eugene Eaton

CRAB ORCHARD -- Eugene Eaton, 72, of Copper Creek Road died today at Ephraim McDowell regional Medical Center.

Born May 25, 1927, in Rockcastle County, he was a son of the late Steve and Eutha Eaton. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Watts Chapel Baptist Church. He was a Mason.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda McClendon of Somerset; a brother, Billy Ray Eaton of Richmond; seven sisters, Lona Slayback, Ponza Green, Juanita Cummins and Dessie Tankersly, all of Crab Orchard, Ruth Ann Doyle of Richmond, Imogene Bryant of London and Edith Lanham of Corbin; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be noon Monday at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home by the Rev. Dan Gutenson. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Visitation is after 6 p.m. Sunday.

Daisy W. Reed

LOUISVILLE -- Daisy Wallace Reed, 90, of Louisville died Wednesday at the Christian Church Home.

Born Aug. 29, 1909, in Honaker, Va., she was a daughter of the late James and Dora Ray Wallace. She was a retired employee of American Printing House for the Blind, a life member of Women's Baptist Seminary and Clifton Baptist Church.

She was the widow of A.P. Reed.

Survivors include nephews, Dannie Wallace, Jimmie Wallace and Ronnie Wallace, all of Louisville.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Arch L. Heady-Cralle Funeral Home. Burial will be noon Monday at Bellevue Cemetery, Danville.

Visitation is 2-7 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials may go to Clifton Baptist Church Memorial Fund or Kentucky School For the Blind.

William H. Gentry

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- William H. Gentry, 81, of Blacksburg died April 25 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born Nov. 19, 1918, in Harrodsburg, he was a son of the late James T. and Harriet Renfro Gentry. He was retired after 25 years with Corning Glass.

He served as a captain in the National Guard Unit from Harrodsburg, Co. D of the 192nd Tank Battalion and was deployed to the Philippine Islands in November 1941.

He was stationed at Clark Field when the Japanese attacked on Dec. 7, 1941. In January 1942, he led the first tank versus tank battle in U.S. history.

He was a survivor of the Bataan Death March and the recipient of two Silver Stars, a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star, along with numerous unit commendations.

He was an active member of the American Ex-Prisoners of War and the American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor. He was the widower of Katherine Poor Gentry.

Survivors include his daughter, Harriet Gentry Cobb of Savannah, Ga.; two sons, William H. Gentry II and James W. Gentry of Lacoochee, Fla.; a sister, Nancy L. Bannister of Paris; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Richard Gentry of Harrodsburg; six grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.

Graveside services will be held Saturday in Harrodsburg.

Memorials may go to the Presbyterian Church in the Highlands, building fund, P.O. Box 5918, Lakeland, Fla., 33807.

McCoy Funeral Home in Blacksburg is in charge of arrangements.

Frank Wethington

LIBERTY -- Frank Wethington Sr., 95, of Louisville, formerly of the Clementsville community, died Wednesday in Louisville.

Born Nov. 13, 1904, in Casey County, he was a son of the late Cletus and Etta Beldon Wethington. He was the widower of Sarah Odelia Wethington. He was a retired farmer and a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church.

Survivors include five daughters, Sister Marietta Wethington of Maple Mount, Geraldine and Linda Pennington and Wilma Goebel, all of Louisville, and Kay Edwards of Liberty; two sons, Rick and Frank Wethington Jr., both of Louisville; a brother, Gerome Wethington of Indianapolis; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Rob Wethington.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at St. Bernard Catholic Church by the Rev. Fred Hendrickson. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. Sunday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
