Kentucky Marriage Records by County

Gaynell Cannon
Gaynell Cannon, 91, of Flemingsburg, passed away Dec. 14, 2005, at Fleming County Hospital. She was the widow of Earl Cannon.
Mrs. Cannon was a retired Ewing Elementary School teacher where she taught first grade for around 30 years, a member of Ewing Christian Church, Christian Women's Fellowship, Ewing Homemakers and Retired Teachers Association. Her motto was "I love God and children and sought to serve both."
Born in Fleming County on Nov. 6, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy Gladys Robinson Vice and Henry Vice.
Surviving are two sister-in-laws, Thelma (Don) White of Lexington and Pauline Cannon of Mount Sterling; four nieces, Mary Gay Moore of Tampa, Fla., Etna Ann (Billy) Smathers of Mount Sterling, Shirley (Gene) Davis of Lexington and Sandy McSpadden of Scottsdale, Ariz.; three nephews, Jere (Mary Jane) Cannon of Fleming County, Charles (Frances) Cannon of Fleming County and Shank Cannon Jr. of Wisconsin.
Funeral services were conducted Dec. 17 at Denton-Workman Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Ingram officiating. Burial was in Longview Cemetery at Bethel.

Mary McKee Harmon
Mary Dorothy McKee Harmon, 87, of Owingsville, passed away Dec. 13, 2005, at Ridgeway Manor Nursing Home in Owingsville.
Mrs. Harmon has been a homemaker, restaurant cook and caregiver. She was a member of the Church of God.
Born May 2, 1918, in Fleming County, she was the daughter of the late Amos and Augusta Sproles McKee.
Surviving are four sons, Ronnie (Judy) Harmon of Lake Charles, Lou., Lynn (Judy) Harmon of Bethel, Anthony Harmon of Sharpsburg and George (Glenda) Harmon of Carlisle; four daughters, Agatha Brannon of Columbus, Ohio, Janice (Shirley) Cartmill of Mt. Sterling, Sandy Purvis of Madison, Tenn., and Pam (Elgin) Hawkins of Owingsville; one daughter-in-law, Billie Jean Stewart Harmon of Morehead; two brothers, Woodford McKee of Poplar Plains and Hilly McKee of Hillsboro; two sisters, Vinetta Harmon and Gracie Arnold, both of Flemingsburg; 21 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were one son, Verlin Harmon; one granddaughter, Lisa Harmon; and one great-grandson, Tyson Cartmill.
Funeral services were conducted Dec. 17 at Hutton Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Rose officiating. Burial was in Hillsboro Cemetery.

Otus Eugene Mills
Otus Eugene Mills, 95, of Morehead, passed away Dec. 9, 2005, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born May 13, 1910, in St. Johns, Mich., he was the son of the late Loren E. Mills and Iva Keller Mills.
Mr. Mills married Winifred Gorton in 1939 and lived in Lansing, Mich. until 1945 when then moved to Vermontville, Mich. where they owned and operated Mills Hardware Store until 1965. Then they moved to Charlotte, Mich. where he worked for Fowler Chevrolet and A. G. Twitchell Real Estate. He was president of the Village Chamber of Commerce and the Lions Club. He was also very active with the Maple Syrup Association for many years and was a life member of Lansing Lodge PBO Elks 196. He was a member of the Congregational Church in Vermontville.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Winifred Mills of Morehead; a daughter, Kathleen Murphy of Flemingsburg; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was one son, Russell Mills.
A graveside service was conducted Dec. 17 at the Bosworth Cemetery in Olivet, Mich. Memorials are suggested to Habitat for Humanity. Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals was in care of arrangements.

Orbin Sparks
Orbin Sparks, 77, of Flemingsburg, passed away Dec. 11, 2005, at Fleming County Hospital. He was the widower of Flora (Bo) Sparks.
Mr. Sparks was a retired Lakewood Foodtown grocery store owner.
Born in Pike County on Jan. 11, 1928, he was the son of the late Fannie Bevins Sparks and David Campbell Sparks.
Surviving are one son, Dean (Jackie) Sparks of Flemingsburg; two daughters, Deborah (Blaine) Dells of Flemingsburg and Madonna (Walt) Gray of North Carolina; two brothers, Billy Richard Sparks of Hollis, Ala. and Dr. Robert Sparks of Nicholas County; six grandchildren, Walt (Alayna) Gray, Jera Lee Sparks, Rob (Staci) Gray, John (Holly) Dells, Jeremy (Kelli Jo) Sparks and Jay Fred Sparks; four great-grandchildren, Bryce Gray, Madison Sparks, Macy Gray and Jacob Michael Gray; and a daughter-in-law, Georgianna Sparks.
Also preceding him in death were one son, Jerry Sparks; two sisters; and four brothers.
Funeral services were conducted Dec. 14 at Denton-Workman Funeral Home with Rev. Norman Wasson officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memory Gardens in Paris.
