Kentucky Marriage Records by County

Funeral services will be held today, Friday, April 2, for Billy Powers, 69, who died Wednesday, March 31, at his Auxier residence. Mr. Powers was born March 21, 1930, in Johnson County, to James Powers and the late Bonnie Preuitt Powers. He was a disabled miner, member of DAV Chapter 18 of Auxier, veteran of the Korean War and a member of Auxier Freewill Baptist Church.

Retired miner James Crider, 80, died Tuesday, March 30, at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center. Mr. Crider was born September 29, 1918, in Johnson County, to the late Alfred and Ida McKenzie Crider. He was a veteran of World War II.

Paintsville resident Martha Sue Davis, 61, died Wednesday, March 31, at her residence. Ms. Davis was born March 16, 1938, in Carter County, to the late William T. and Hulda Rigsby Davis. She was a retired social worker.

Jones-Preston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Josephine Reed Music, 78, who died Tuesday, March 30, at Highlands Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Music was born March 20, 1921, in Johnson County, to the late Samuel Bud and Allie Hyden Reed.

Retired cook Recettia Daniel, 80, died Friday, April 2, at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Daniel was born May 17, 1918, in Johnson County, to the late Bascom and Jenetta Robinson Taylor. She was retired from the Johnson County School System.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 31, for Gary L. Conley, 54, who died Monday, March 29, at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center. Mr. Conley was born January 26, 1945, in Johnson County, to Eula Mae Williams Conley and the late Glen Conley. He was a heavy equipment operator for Rice Brothers Construction Company of Oil Springs.

Ivel Ratliff, 72, of McDowell, died Wednesday, March 31, at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital. Mr. Ratliff was born June 1, 1926, in Pike County, to the late Fred and Elizabeth Robinson Ratliff. He was a retired coal miner, formerly employed by Inland Steel, Island Creek and National Mines coal companies, and was a member of the First Church of God.

Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, April 7, for Dixie Ratliff Blair, 64, who died Sunday, April 4, at UK Medical Center, Lexington. Mrs. Blair was born September 5, 1934, in Johnson County, to the late Topsy and Leona Fairchild Ratliff.

Ernestine Burchett, 91, died Tuesday, March 23, at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Burchett was born September 18, 1907, in Johnson County, to the late James and Dutch Dixon McKenzie. She was a bookkeeper for many years for G.C. Murphy Company and a member of the George's Creek United Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held today, Friday, April 9, for Glen Wheeler, 97, who died Tuesday, April 6, at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center. Mr. Wheeler was born October 3, 1901, in Magoffin County, to the late Daniel M. and Sally Crace Wheeler. She was retired from Columbia Gas Company.

May Risner, 82, died Sunday, April 4, at Louisville Jewish Hospital. Mrs. Risner was the former May Long, a native of Oil Springs and a member of the Farmdale Church of God.

Paintsville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Nellie Velasco, 72, who died Thursday, April 8, at Mountain Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Velasco was born November 15, 1926, in Martin County, to the late Alex and Rena Gillespie. She was a waitress.

Hager Hill resident Clifford Ray Gullett, 76, died Friday, April 9, at his residence. Mr. Gullett was born February 17, 1923, at Wayland, to the late Lonnie and Vada Franklin Gullett. He was a mechanic and veteran, having received many medals during World War II, one of which was the Purple Heart.

Luther Stamper, 50, died Friday, April 2, at Highlands Regional Medical Center. Mr. Stamper was born October 19, 1948, in Johnson County, to Carrie Frazier Stamper and the late Jess Stamper. He was a maintenance worker for the Paintsville City Schools and a member of Chestnut Grove Enterprise Baptist Church.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, April 13, for Howard E. Kazee, 83, who died Monday, April 12, at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center. Mr. Kazee was born March 7, 1916, in Johnson County, to the late Edgar P. and Flossie Borders Kazee. He was a retired salesman from Cox Auto Sales and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow, Thursday, April 15, for Verta Rae Blevins Pitts, 45, who died April 12 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Pitts was born November 2, 1953, in Johnson County, to James Franklin Blevins and the late Bethel Conley Blevins. She was a member of the Salyersville Freewill Baptist Church.

Floyd J. Tackett, 72, died Monday, April 12, at his Salyersville residence. Mr. Tackett was born April 6, 1927, in Magoffin County, to the late Levi and Anna Lee Conley Tackett. He was a construction/oil well worker, World War II Army veteran and member of the Freewill Baptist Church.

Flem Blanton, 82, died Monday, April 12, at his Prestonsburg residence. Mr. Blanton was born March 10, 1917, in Kenwood, to the late Roscoe and Darcas Fairchild Blanton. He was a pipefitter.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 17, for Phyllis Jean Davis Fairchild Grimm, 60, who died April 14 at her Paintsville residence. Mrs. Grimm was born May 27, 1938, in Johnson County, to the late Elijah Douglas and Leatha Mae Lilly Davis.

Former Johnson County resident Julia M. Napier, 56, died Thursday, April 15, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Sarasota, Florida. Mrs. Napier was born May 28, 1942, in Paintsville, to the late George Arlin and Willia Hyden Wells. She was a former supervisor for Kmart, retiring in 1995, and was a member of Ada Church of Christ.

Neva L. Fairchild, 77, of Bettsville, Ohio, formerly of Johnson County, died Wednesday, March 31, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Fairchild was born January 16, 1922, in Johnson County, to the late William L. and Minerva E. Conley Blair. She was a member of the Baptist faith.

Catherine Kirby Bird, 85, of Berea, died Tuesday, April 13, at the Berea Health Care Center. Mrs. Bird was a native of Milton, West Virginia, and Paintsville. She was a member of the Berea United Methodist Church and the Berea Hospital Auxiliary.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 7, for Dixie Ratliff Blair, 64, who died Sunday, April 4, at UK Medical Center, Lexington. Mrs. Blair was born September 5, 1934, in Johnson County, to the late Topsy and Leona Fairchild Ratliff.

Pearlie Lyons, 90, of Springfield, Ohio, died Thursday, April 15, at Community Hospital. Mrs. Lyons was born July 14, 1908, at Van Lear, to the late Maywood and Clisty Slone Harris.

Paintsville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for Freddie Caudill, 78, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, who died Friday, April 16, at his residence. Mr. Caudill was born October 30, 1920, in Johnson County, to the late Luther and Lillia Spradlin Caudill. He was a lineman.
