Born April 7, 1907, at Triplet, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Lutie Hamilton White, and was the widow of Walton Clay Morgan. She was a homemaker and a member of Laurel Point Christian Holiness Church. Services will be conducted Sunday, April 8, at 1:00 p.m. at Dickerson Funeral home in Vanceburg. Rev. Clifford Muses will officiate with burial in Morgan Cemetery at Head of Grassy. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Saturday, and from 8:00 a.m. until the hour of services on Sunday at the funeral home.

Lloyd Fogleman
Lloyd L. Fogleman, 89,of Tollesboro, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at his home. Born June 6, 1911, in Veedersbrug, Indiana, he was a son of the late Clarence E. and Dora McCalment Fogelman, and was the widower of Dollie Roberts Fogleman. He was a retired farmer and school bus driver, and was a member of Dalesburg Christian Holiness Church. Services will be conducted Saturday, April 7, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home in Flemingsburg. Rev. Aaron Riley will officiate with burial in Goddard Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Edward Evans
Edward Gordon Evans, 70, of Flemingsburg, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, following a brief illness. Born November 26, 1930, in Lewis County, he was a son of the late Elwood and Dolly Lewis Evans, and was the husband of Marguerite "Mickey" Duncan Evans. He was retired as a superintendent in construction management for Verbille in Maysville, and was a member of the Family Worship Center in Flemingsburg. Services will be conducted Saturday, April 7, at the Family Worship Center. Rev. Steve Hickerson will officiate with burial in Fleming County Cemetery in Flemingsburg. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, and from 8:00 a.m. until the hour of services on Saturday at the funeral home.

Jesse Jordan
Jesse Jordan, 56, of North Baltimore, Ohio, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Kaufman's Restaurant in Bowling Green, Ohio. Born March 10, 1945, at Cincinnati, Ohio, he was a son of Norene Rowland of Vanceburg, and was the husband of Pamela Hilman Jordan. He was employed at Kaufman's Restaurant in Bowling Green and had been a self-employed woodworker, and was a US Army veteran. Services were conducted Friday, April 6, at 3:00 p.m. at Smith-Crates Funeral home in North Baltimore. Rev. Charles Jarvis officiated with burial in North Maplewood Cemetery at North Baltimore. Military graveside rites were accorded by North Baltimore American Legion Post 539.

Bruce Kinney
Bruce Lee Kinney, 60, of Vanceburg died Monday, June 11, 2001, at his home, following an extended illness. Born September 4, 1940, at Glen Springs, he was a son of the late Edgar and Mary Lee Carrington Stevenson Kinney, and was the husband of Betty Mae Ginn Kinney. He was a retired farmer and had also worked for the Kentucky State Department of Forestry and US Shoe. He attended Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg. Burial was in Glen Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.

Opal Collier
Opal Lee Wilburn Collier, 72, of Oxford, Ohio, formerly of St. Paul, died Monday, June 11, 2001, at McCollough Hyde Hospital. She was born April 4, 1929, in Detroit, Michigan, and was the widow of Clyde Wilburn who died in 1975. She was a homemaker. Services were conducted Thursday, June 14, at 1:00 p.m., at Roberson Funeral Home. Rev. Carl Wells officiated with burial in Siloam Cemetery in South Shore.

Betty Gulley
Betty Hardin Gulley, 62, of Winchester, Ohio, died Monday, June 11, 2001, at Vista Care in Cincinnati. Ohio. Born September 17, 1938, in Cincinnati, she was a daughter of the late Horace and Lillian Pierce Johns, and the wife of Earl Gulley. Her first husband, Robert Hardin, died in 1999. She attended the Winchester United Methodist Church and was a member of the Winchester Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Winchester Scattered Homemakers. Born March 18, 1917, at St. Paul, she was a daughter of the late Abraham L. and Nellie Bevens Redman, and was the widow of Gabriel Henson who died in 1990. She was a dairy farmer. Services were conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, June 15, at Brant Funeral Home in Portsmouth. Burial was in Memorial Burial Park.

Mildred Ruth Adams, 82, of Vanceburg, died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. Born May 3, 1919, in Fleming County, she was a daughter of the late Sam and Emma Meadows Botkins, and was the widow of Charles "Meral" Adams. She was retired from US Shoe in Vanceburg and was a member of the Vanceburg United Methodist Church. Services were conducted Monday, June 4, at 1:00 a.m., at Vanceburg United Methodist Church. Rev. Born June 15, 1948, in Vanceburg, he was a son of the late William and Hattie Grayson Lightner, and was the husband of Barbara Henderson Lightner. He was a farmer, logger and had worked at US Shoe in Vanceburg for 10 years. Services were conducted Monday, June 4, at 1:00 p.m. at Gaydos Funeral Home in Vanceburg. John Hamilton officiated with burial at Slate Point.

Michael Everman
Michael L. Everman, 50, of Arizona, formerly of Quincy, died suddenly March 31, 2001, in Arizona. He was born April 11, 1950, in Portsmouth, Ohio, a son of Arthur D. Everman and the late Mary Boyle Everman, and was the husband of Debbie Everman. He was employed as consulting manager in charge of building the one billion dollar Maricopo County Jail in Phoenix, Ariz. He attended McKell High School in Greenup County where he played football and lived with his Aunt Pansy and Uncle Jim Foster during that time. He was a US Army veteran, serving in Germany. A memorial service was conducted Saturday June 9, 2001, at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, Quincy. His cousin, Tim Underwood, officiated with private burial in Everman Cemetery in Grayson.

Wendell Toller
Wendell R. Toller, 72, of Bethel, Ohio, died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at 7:50 p.m., at Meadow Wood Care Center at Georgetown, Ohio, following an extended illness. Born June 14, 1929, at Black Oak, he was a son of the late William Jr. and Lovell R. Flinders Toller, and was the husband of Pat Clendenen Toller. Walter Howell
Walter L. Howell, 82, of Route 1 Wallingford, died Monday, August 6, 2001, at his home, following an extended illness. Born April 12, 1919, in Lewis County, he was a son of the late Charles and Rebecca Evans Howell, and was the husband of Myrtle Clark Howell. He was a retired farmer and was a US Army veteran of WWII. Services were conducted Thursday, August 9, at 1:00 p.m. at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home in Flemingsburg. Rev. Layne Wagner officiated with burial in Esham Cemetery. Military graveside rites were accorded by the American Legion and VFW Post of Flemingsburg.

Born April 6, 1939, at Vanceburg, he was a son of the late Charles Wilson and Martha Jane Kimbler Evans, and was the husband of Rosalee Shope Evans. He was a logger and a member of the Way of Life Church in Maysville. Services were conducted Wednesday, August 8, at 1:00 p.m., at Gaydos Funeral Home in Vanceburg. Opal Harrison Taylor, 81, of Trinity, died Friday, August 3, 2001, at Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville. Born May 23, 1920, in Lewis County, she was a daughter of the late Corwin and Goldie Adams Harrison, and was the widow of Manual Taylor. She as a member of Sand Hill Christian Church and Eastern Star. Graveside services were conducted Monday, August 6, at 1:30 p.m., with Dennis Miller officiating at Hillcrest Garden of Memories in Mason County. Arrangements were under the direction of Barbour and Son Funeral Home in Tollesboro.

Thurston Logan
Thurston O. Logan, 87, of Columbus, Indiana, died Thursday, August 9, 2001, at Columbus. Born November 20, 1913, at Harris, he was a son of the late William M. and Renee Gilliam Logan, and was the husband of Emma Hopson Logan. He was a logger and a WWII Army veteran. Services were conducted Monday, August 13, at 2:00 p.m. at Voss Chapel in Seymour, Indiana. Rev. Vernon Shepherd officiated with burial in Bethel Baptist Cemetery in Columbus.

Born October 3, 1933, in Mason County, she was a daughter of the late Woodrow and Freda Reeder Hord, and was the wife of Tommy Hughes. She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of Tollesboro Christian Church. Services were conducted Thursday, August 9, at 1:00 p.m. at Barbour and Son Funeral Home in Tollesboro. Bro. Ruby Bloomfield
Ruby Bloomfield, 84, of Vanceburg, died Thursday, August 2, 2001, at 1:09 a.m., at Bucyrus Community Hospital in Bucyrus, Ohio. Born February 12, 1917, in Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Sylvester and Mary Evelyn Litteral Lewis and was the widow of Earnest Bloomfield, who died in 1986. She was a homemaker and a member of the Community Hall Church at Laurel. Services were conducted Sunday, August 5, at 1:00 p.m. at Independent Church of Christ at Laurel. Rev. Ronnis Enix officiated with burial in Horsley Cemetery at Laurel. Arrangements in Bucyrus were under the direction of Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home. Local arrangements were under the direction of Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg.

Born April 1, 1945, in Floyd County, he was a son of the late Glen and Carrie Johnson Tackett, and was the husband of 33 years of Frances Gardner Tackett. He worked for Swan Rubber Company in Bucyrus, Ohio. Services were conducted Friday, August 3, at 1:00 p.m., at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg. Rev. Hayes Tackett officiated with burial in Skidmore Cemetery at Garrison.

Born December 25, 1934, at Omaha, Virginia, she was a daughter of Martha Ann Isaac Mullins of Robinson Creek and the late Henry Mullins, and was the widow of Alvin Little, who died in 1969, and John Morgan Johnson, who died in 1993. She was a homemaker and a member of South Shore Old Regular Baptist Church. Services were conducted Monday, August 6, at 7:00 p.m. at Old Regular Baptist Church in South Shore. A second service was conducted Tuesday, August 7, at Noon, at Caney Creek Old Regular Baptist Church at Robinson Creek. Burial was in the Mullins Family Cemetery at Robinson Creek. Arrangements were under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home in Garrison.

Russell Bear
Russell Clayton Bear, 69, of Garrison, died Wednesday, August 1, 2001, at his home. Born August 8, 1931, at Greenup, he was a son of Jessie Middleton Hall of Greenup and the late Earn Bear, and was the widower of Jennie Wolfe Bear. He was a member of Garrison Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness and was a retired operating engineer with Local #18 in Columbus, Ohio. Services were conducted Saturday, August 4, at 1:00 p.m., at Garrison Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness. Paul Bailey officiated with burial in the Bear Cemetery. Born October 31, 1922, in Vanceburg, he was a son of the late Stephen B. and Annie Fraley Cooper, and was the husband of Lorain I. Armstrong Cooper. He was a retired stock chaser for International Harvester Trucking Company, a WWII Army veteran and a member of the Perrysburg Alliance Church. Services were conducted Saturday, July 28, at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home in Perrysburg, with burial in Ft. Meigs Cemetery.

He was a self-employed logger, trucker and farmer. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and NASCAR racing. He held a Master Loggers Certificate. Services will be conducted Saturday, October 20, at 1:00 p.m. at Heselton Baptist Church. Burial will be at his home. Visitation hours are from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday, October 19, at Barbour and Son Funeral Home in Tollesboro.

Evelyn Mae Moore, 52, of Vanceburg, died Thursday, October 4, 2001, at 3:00 p.m., at May’s Lick as a result of a gunshot wound. Born January 13, 1949, in Lewis County, she was a daughter of Bernice Corns Pressley of Epworth and the late Ralph Pressley, and was the wife of Wilson Moore. She was retired from Nine West Shoe Corp. and was a member of Canaan Holiness Church. Services were conducted Sunday, October 7, at 2:00 p.m., at Canaan Holiness Church. Rev. Worth Stanfield officiated with burial in Mt. Tabor Cemetery at Ribolt. Arrangements were under the direction of Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg.

Dr. David Jones
Dr. David L. Jones, 45, of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, formerly of Vanceburg and Portsmouth, Ohio, died Sunday, October 7, 2001, at his home. Born August 23, 1956, at Portsmouth, he was a son of Carl T. Jones of Ridgeland, South Carolina, and Sue Hackworth Dykes of Cleveland Heights. He was a staff psychiatrist at Cleveland Clinic Foundation from 1988 to 1998. He was an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Society of Cleveland where he taught Sunday School and served on church committees. Services were conducted Thursday, October 11, at Sullivan Funeral Chapel in Garrison. Wilma Erwin officiated. Born January 8, 1917, in Iuka, Illinois, he was a son of the late Robert and Maggie Roe, and was the husband of Doris Roe. He was a tool and cutter grinder for Allison Division of General Motors, a member of WCO Senior Citizens Club, the Walker Township Conservation Club, and was a former volunteer firefighter in Manilla. Arrangements were under the direction of Turner Funeral Homes Spring Hill Chapel.
