Born June 6, 1909 in Gravel Switch, she was the daughter of the late George and Sara Margaret Monroe Phillips. She was a retired school teacher and a member of the Lawrenceville United Methodist Church. Survivors include: her husband, Rev. Austin B. Clodfelder, Lawrenceville, IL; one sister, Bertha Whithouse, Harrodsburg. Funeral services were held Saturday, October 9, at the Spring Hill Cemetery with Rev. Edward C. Coleman officiating. GOLDEN SHEWMAKER
Golden Jean Shewmaker, 66, of 745 Perryville Road, died Saturday, October 9, 1999 in Washington Court House, OH. Born September 19, 1933 in Washington County, she was the daughter of Lola Mae Watts Shewmaker and the late Cecil Shewmaker. She was a member of Battle Baptist Church and a private sitter. Survivors include: one daughter, Sherry Stratton, Harrodsburg; one son, Bobby Glenn Lee, Nicholasville; three sisters, Elizabeth Shewmaker, Wanda Shewmaker and Rhonda Baker, all of Harrodsburg; two grandchildren and two step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Gleda Hume. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, October 12, at Spring Hill Cemetery by Bro. James Harley. Pallbearers were Gary and Mike Hume, James Allen Lewis, Freddie Warner, Kenneth Baker and Wayne Shewmaker. Honorary bearers were DeWayne Stratton, Larry Hume, Ronnie Hume, Tony Rosenbarger and Mike Hume. Alexander and Royalty was in charge of arrangements.

Hallie Jane Cummings Logue, 95, of the Deep Creek Community of Washington County, died Wednesday, October 6, 1999 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center. A native of Mercer County, she was born on December 4, 1903 to the late John Bill and Maude Claunch Cummings. She was a member of the Deep Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include: two sons, W. T. Logue, Harrodsburg; Mayron Logue, Mackville; one daughter, Ann Bugg, Springfield; one half sister, Fern Lester, Lexington; 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hobert Ray Logue; two sons, Thomas Logue and Hobert B. Logue; one grandson, Jeffrey Logue. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 9, at the Deep Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Bill Eldridge, assisted by Bro. Hilary Claypool. Burial was in the Deep Creek Cemetery. Lee Fowler, 79, of the Cardwell community of Washington County, died Tuesday, October 5, 1999 at his home. A native of Washington County, he was born on December 24, 1919 to the late Obie and Mariah Settles Fowler. He was a farmer and a member of the Mackville Christian Church. Survivors include: his wife, Lois May Fowler, Cardwell; one son, Jerry Fowler, Springfield; five daughters, Mrs. Danny (Bonnie) Yaste and Cindy Fowler, both of Willisburg, Mrs. Billy Joe (Loraine) Mattingly, Mackville, Mrs. Kenneth (Darlene) Robinson, Harrodsburg, and Mrs. Eddie (Margaret) Pittman, Springfield; 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell and Robert Fowler, and three sisters, Ruby Isham, Edna Reynolds and Kathryn Fowler. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 7, at the Carey and Son Funeral Home in Springfield, with Bro. Ken Ward officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Born January 15, 1920 in Marion County, she was the daughter of the late Shirley and Mattie Wheeler Spurling. She was a homemaker and a member of the South Fork Presbyterian Church. Survivors include: five sons: John A. Rawlings, Stewart, OH; David, Rodney and Tommie Rawlings, Harrodsburg, and Robert Rawlings of Nicholasville; eight daughters, Shirley Preston, Marie Mattingly, and Bonnie Campbell of Lebanon; Ruth Williams, Bardstown, Linda Rogers, Parksville, Martha Shook of Rockcastle, CO, Anita Mattingly, Louisville, and Edith Huntburg, Lexington; two brothers, Bill Spurling, Lebanon and Clowland Spurling, Louisville; 53 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Rawlings; two children, Jeffrey Allen Rawlings and Nancy Lou Rawlings; one brother, John J. Spurling and one sister, Margaret Hourigan. Funeral services were held Friday, October 15, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Lanham officiating. Burial was in the Elder Cemetery in Boyle County. Eva Deshazer, 89, of 404 Beaumont Avenue, died Thursday, October 14, 1999 at the Charleston Health Care Center in Danville. Born September 3, 1910, in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Jesse James and Carrie Lee Downey Deshazer. She was retired from Corning Glass and was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church. Survivors include: three nieces, Myrgle Huffman, Mercer County, Brenda Gabbard, Garrard County, and Eva Mae Baugh, Sumter, SC; one nephew, George Deshazer, Bardstown. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, October 17th, at the McClellan Funeral Home by Dr. Robert DeFoor. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Marion Douglas Phillips, 56, of 625 Monticello Blvd., Lexington, died Wednesday, October 14, 1999. Born October 4, 1943, in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Luke and Edith Peavler Phillips. He was a CAD analyst for OHI America in Lexington and a US Army Veteran. Survivors include: a special friend and companion, Jayne Donahue; four children, Glenn Douglas (Virginia) Phillips, Salvisa, Mrs. Todd (Rhonda Gail) Burkhead, Lawrenceburg, Bryan McNeil Phillips, Burgin, Mrs. Luther (Lynne Allison) Lewis, Burgin; three sisters, Patsy Ann Schmidt, Worthington, OH, Rose Bishop and Linda King, both of Harrodsburg; five grandchildren. Cari Brooke Yates, 17, of 175 Adams Lane, died Wednesday, October 13, 1999, as the result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on Bohon Road. Born October 18, 1981 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of Carlene Partin Yates of Harrodsburg and the late Kenneth Yates Jr. She was a senior at Mercer County High School, a member of FFA and FHA and was a former member of the MCHS girls' basketball team. She was also a co-op student, a Lexington Community College English student and attended the Willisburg Christian Church. She was employed by Pied Piper Day Care. Survivors include: her mother, Carlene Yates, Harrodsburg; one brother, Carmon Yates, Harrodsburg; maternal grandparents, Carl and Barbara Partin, Barbourville; paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Bessie Yates, Willisburg. Funeral services were held Saturday, October 16, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Greg Bowen officiating. Burial was in the Willisburg Cemetery. Survivors, other than his parents, include: one brother, Jason Harmon, Harrodsburg; maternal grandmother, Peggy Burkehead, Mercer County; three uncles, Maurice and Eugene Harmon and Bennie Ross; four aunts, Kathy Devine, Kelly Isham, Cindy Price and Brenda Harmon. JOHNNIE ELLIOTT, Jr.
Johnnie Elliott Jr., 63, of East Office Street, died Monday, October 18, 1999 at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. Born October 13, 1936, he was the son of Johnnie and Mary Elizabeth Russell Elliott. He was a retired Corning Glass employee and was a member of Ellers Memorial Baptist Church. He was also a member of St. Johns Masonic Lodge, the Harrodsburg Kiwanis Club, and was a Kentucky Colonel. Survivors include: three brothers, Albert and Walter Elliott, Mercer County, and Leon Elliott, AL; three sisters, Gertie Huffman and Katherine Pankey, both of Mercer County, Betsy Goodlett, Lawrenceburg. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Morris, Carl and Edgar Elliott. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 21, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Whitehouse officiating. Masonic Rites were held Wednesday evening. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be members of his Sunday School Class at Ellers Memorial. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association. Visitation from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 7:30 a.m. Thursday.

MAXINE EADS
Maxine Cook Eads, 92, of Madisonville, formerly of Campbellsville, died Sunday October 17, 1999 in Madisonville. Born September 21, 1907 in Green County, she was the daughter of the late Ezra Richard Cook and Ada Lee Meadows Cook. She was a 1925 graduate of Western Kentucky University and taught school at the old Pitman School in Campbellsville from 1925 to 1927. She was an avid grower of hybrid tea roses and gave the City of Campbellsville 120 of her bushes for its Rose Garden in Miller Park. She was owner and operator of Eads Sanitary Dairy for 35 years and worked for Chappell s Dairy after the business was sold to them. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Campbellsville, was an honorary trustee, a member of the Sunshine Sunday School Class and a former member of Eastern Star. Survivors include: two daughters; Emeline Eads Woods, Harrodsburg, Charlotte (Stanley) Baldwin, Madisonville; a son-in-law, James Allen Vaughn, Greensburg; a brother, E. R. "Jim" Cook Jr., Conyers, GA; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rouse Eads; a daughter, Helen Eads Vaughn; son-in-law, Lewis C. Woods Jr.; one grandson, Edward Lee Vaughn; one brother, Walter "Sam" Cook; two sisters, Maurine Cook Murrell and Virginia Cook Hiestand. Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 20, at the Parrott and Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville with Rev. John Carroll Coomer officiating. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery. DR. C. R. DALEY
Dr. C. R. Daley, 80, of 206 Daisey Lane, Louisville, died Monday, October 18, 1999 at Meadow View Nursing Home in Louisville. A native of Georgia, he was a graduate of Mercer University in Macon, GA and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville. He was pastor of Harrodsburg Baptist Church from 1954 to 1957, and a professor of Greek, Latin, Old Testament and philosophy at Georgetown College before becoming editor of the Western Recorder. He served as editor of the Kentucky Baptist Western Recorder from 1957 until retirement in 1984. Survivors include: his wife, Christine Daley, Louisville; four sons, Phillips Daley, Augusta, GA, Dale Daley, New York, NY, G. L. Daley, Hazard, and Mike Daley, Louisville; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 21, at the Kentucky Baptist Building in Middletown with burial in Newington, GA. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Chauncey Daley Fund at the Western Recorder Building.

Fred Joseph "Joe" Watts, Sr., age 75, 321 St. Charles, Frankfort, died Tuesday, October 19, 1999 at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center in Frankfort. Born June 15, 1924 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Strother and Gertrude Maddox Watts. He was a former deacon of Bellview Christian Church in Frankfort, a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, retired employee of the city of Frankfort and on the Frankfort Municipal Sewer Board. Survivors include: his wife, Ruby Watts, Frankfort; two sons, Fred J. "Buster" Watts and Mark A. Watts, both of Frankfort; one brother, William T. Watts, Harrodsburg; two sisters, Jane and Nellie Watts, both of Harrodsburg; two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Don and Hansford Lewis Watts and two sisters, Lottie Watts and Georgia Bottoms. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 22, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home. Burial will be in Kirkwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and after 7:00 a.m. Friday until time of service.

She was a former employee at Shakertown and was a member of the Centennial Baptist Church. Survivors include: four sons, Tim, Bentley, Joey and Robert Jones, all of Harrodsburg; one daughter, Darlene Hernandez, Harrodsburg; two sisters, Nancy Ellen Jones and Hazel Majors, both of Harrodsburg; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. NANCY DIVINE
Nancy Hester Divine, 84, of Columbus, IN, died Sunday, October 24, 1999, at her residence. Born August 11, 1915 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of James William and Rosa Ellen Royalty Darling. She was an elementary school teacher for 18 years having taught in Indiana, Kentucky, Oregon and California. She graduated from Clear Spring High School in 1933 and from Eastern Kentucky State Teachers College at Richmond. In 1968 she graduated from San Francisco State College with a master s degree in Special Education. She was a member of Fairlawn Baptist Church at Columbus, IN. Survivors include: one son, Donald Cleo Divine, Bloomington, IN; one brother, Samuel Curtis Darling, Columbus, IN; two sisters, Anna Weekly, Hope, IN and Adalene Greathouse, Columbus, IN; two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: a sister, Thelma Sharp; two brothers, Hollie and William Darling; two half-sisters, Reva Mayes and Vergie Hart; one half-brother, Ben Darling. Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 27 at the Bass and Gasper Funeral Home, Westport, IN, with Mike Gillespie and Jerry Langley officiating. Burial was in Westport Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to the Diabetes Association through the funeral home.

Funeral services were held Friday, October 29, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with pastor Bob W. Watson officiating. Burial was in the Shawnee Run Baptist Church Cemetery.
