PEGGY GRIBBINS
Peggy May Gribbins, 85, North College Street, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2005 at the Danville Center for Health in Danville.

Born Feb. 22, 1919 in Lebanon, she was a daughter of the late Ed and Mamie Tungate Bright.

She was a retired cook at Beaumont Inn and Stone Manor Restaurant in Harrodsburg and was a member of the Gethsemane Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one daughter, Rita Willard Hoback of Harrodsburg; one sister, Martha Bray of Louisville, and one grandson.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Omer Gribbins.

Graveside services were conducted Monday, Feb. 14 at the Old Liberty Cemetery in Bradfordsville with Dr. Robert DeFoor officiating. Burial was in the Old Liberty Cemetery.

Local arrangements were handled by the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Mercer County Humane Society.

JOAN JOHNSON
Joan Rose Johnson, 79, Hartford, wife of Larkin D. Johnson, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005 at her residence.

Born Oct. 10, 1925 in Long Beach, CA, she was a daughter of the late George Edward and Addie White Bamber.

She was a homemaker, she was a member of Goshen United Methodist Church and of the Geneva Sunday School Class, she was a member and past president of the Hartford Woman’s Club, a member of the V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary, a longtime support of 4-H and was a member of the Young at Heart Travel Club.

In addition to her husband, survivors include: four daughters, Susan (Jim) Wade of Lexington, Dr. Pamela Johnson and Paula (Joe) Hubbard, both of Harrodsburg, and Leslie Marie Manning of Marietta, GA; one sister, Margie Young of Rancho Mirage, CA; two grandchildren, Charlie Pyles of Harrodsburg and Laura Kelly, and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Jean Deem.

The funeral was held Monday, Jan. 31 at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

ROBERT KIMBALL
Robert L. Kimball, 90, Savannah Way, Danville, widower of Dorothy Ball Kimball, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2005 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born June 11, 1914 in Georgetown, OH, he was the son of the late James and Claudia Patton Kimball.

He was a professional saxophonist before serving with the U.S. Army in WWII. He retired as an electrical engineer from Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He enjoyed classical and jazz music and recently became a Catholic.

Survivors include one brother-in-law, Delbert (Edna) Ball of Burgin; one sister-in-law, Thelma Bowden of Harrodsburg; two nieces; two great-nieces; two great-nephews, and his caregiver, Violet Curtis of Danville.

He was preceded in death by one brother, James P. Kimball.

Funeral Mass was conducted Monday, Feb. 14 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Danville with Father Linn Nguyen officiating. Interment was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

ADDIE LISTER

Addie Lister, 85, of Sarah Lane, Danville, died Saturday, February 12, 2005 at her residence.

Born October 23, 1919, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Pryor and Celeste Clements Coffman. She was the widow of Marion Lister and a member of Indian Hills Christian Church.

Survivors include: a daughter, Joanne Coulter, Danville; one son, Charles D. Lister, Mercer County; one sister, Edna Lister, Danville; three brothers, James Coffman, Lexington, Walter Coffman, Bedford, IN, and Leon Coffman, Homasassa, FL; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 14, at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Odis Clark. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Coulter, Bill Yeary, Steve Fister, Charles Lister, Chad Ellis and David M. Lister.

Honorary pallbearers are the senior ministry group at Indian Hills Christian Church.

Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. Sunday.

JAMES PENDEGRIST
James T. Pendegrist, 81, Perryville, husband of Ina Barnes Pendegrist, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005 in Lexington.

Born Sept. 4, 1923 in Boyle County, he was a son of the late James Thomas and Lena Roney Pendegrist.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and a member of the V.F.W. and D.A.V., he was a retired self-employed farmer and was a member of the Berea Christian Church in Mercer County where he was a deacon.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: two daughters, Donna Gayle Godbey and Brenda Allen, and two sons, John T. Pendegrist and Gary W. Pendegrist, all of Perryville; one sister, Louise Tatum of Bowling Green; 12 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held Friday, Feb. 11 at the Berea Christian Church with Rev. Garry Allen officiating. Burial with military rites conducted by American Legion Post #49 was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Josh, Matt and Adam Pendegrist, Jamie Allen, Shawn Rousey, Chris Lay, Jon Meyer and Cameron Saylor.

Honorary pallbearers were Kristen Tharp, Cheri Rousey, Autumn Godbey, Erin Meyer, Hedi Saylor, Jennifer Pendegrist, Shana Lay and Jennifer Allen.

Expressions of sympathy are suggested to the Berea Christian Church Building Fund.

JAMES PERRY
James W. Perry, 82, Frankfort, husband of Anne Harrod Perry, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005.

Born Feb. 4, 1923 in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Roscoe and Eva Catlett Perry.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: one sister, Mary Lois Sanders of Harrodsburg; one daughter, Martha Reed Perry of Louisville; one stepdaughter, Charlotte Martin of Lexington, and two nephews.

The funeral was held Friday, Feb. 11 at Harrod Brothers Memorial Chapel in Frankfort with Dr. Gary Straub and Dr. John Chenault officiating. Burial was in Frankfort Cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by Harrod Brothers Funeral Home in Frankfort.

CAREY RANDOLPH
Carey Ellen Randolph, 45, North Carolina, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005 after a short illness.

Born June 7, 1959 in Hawthorne, CA, she was the daughter of Corinee Neeley of Richmond, originally of Harrodsburg, and the late Waller Randolph.

Survivors include: four daughters, Charli Randolph, Kara Randolph, Chelsa Flickinger and Emily Weiss; four sisters, Kimberly Misenheimer, Kathy Sparks, Colleen Jenkins and Robin Kjmes; two brothers, Rusty Randolph and Kevin Randolph, and numerous other relatives.

Arrangements are incomplete at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held in Harrodsburg.

ROY ROGERS
Roy Jeffrey Rogers, 60, Louisville Road, Salvisa, husband of Betty Harley Rogers, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005 at his home.

Born Dec. 1, 1944 in Anderson County, he was a son of Roy H. and Lucy Stratton Rogers of Anderson County.

He was a retired employee of Lexmark and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: two sons, Kent Rogers of Harrodsburg and Keith Rogers of Mercer County; one daughter, Janna Rogers, also of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Patricia Sweasy and Sandra Dunning, both of Mercer County; four brothers, Jimmy Rogers, Mike Rogers, Roger Rogers and Tim Rogers, all of Anderson County, and four grandchildren.

The funeral was held Tuesday, Feb. 15 at the Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Guerin and Rev. David Culp officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Roney Bottom, Bobby Grider, Michael Darland, Ronnie Dailey, Glenn Devine, Tommy Pinkston, Bobby Christerson and Gary Walton.

Honorary pallbearers were his co-workers.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Heritage Hospice, P.O. Box 1213, Danville, KY 40422 or to Gideon Memorial Bible Fund, P.O. Box 176, Harrodsburg, KY 40330.

EDNA TAYLOR
Edna Christine VanArsdale Taylor, 91, Lexington, formerly of Harrodsburg, widow of Stanley Taylor, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2005 at her residence.

Born July 26, 1913 in Perryville on the Perryville Battlefield grounds, she was the daughter of the late James Oliver and Lillian Bottoms Taylor.

She was a practical nurse and a private duty nurse at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Her great-grandfather buried soldiers on the battlefield ground and notified family members concerning their deceased loved ones. Her grandfather donated the land to the state which now makes up part of the Perryville Battlefield grounds. She was also a member of the Salvisa Christian Church.

Survivors include: two daughters, Connie Taylor of Lexington and Roxann (David) Leo of Harrodsburg; two nieces whom she raised, Nancy VanArsdale Reed of Decatur, GA and Sarah (Terry) Raine of Tulsa, OK, and several other nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be today, Thursday, Feb. 17 at 3:30 p.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Palmer Young and Rev. Jeff Bell officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mike Wilder, Buddy McCoy, Jerry Carroll, Howard Mitchell Fallis, Larry Stopher, William Leonard Currens, Ray Reichenback and Eddie Sanford.

Honorary pallbearers will be George Moore, Robert Lee Shewmaker, Tommy Flora and Leonard Woosley.

Visitation, Wednesday from 5 until 9 p.m. and Thursday prior to the service at the chapel.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 102, Harrodsburg, KY 40330 or to the Salvisa Christian Church, Sugar Street, Salvisa, K 40372.

NELLIE WATTS
Nellie Lanham Watts, 77, Lexington Road, Danville, widow of Jack J. Watts, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005 at the Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born Dec. 23, 1927 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Martha Black Lanham.

She was a retired registered nurse and was a graduate of McAfee High School and of the School of the Nazarene. Her nursing career included Harrodsburg Hospital and various supervisory and administrative positions with the Commonwealth of Kentucky. She also was involved with research projects for the University of Kentucky. She was a member of the Salt River Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one son, Jack Boyd Watts of Danville; two daughters, Cheryl Pittman of Homewood, AL, and Darlene (James) Wilson of Danville, and five grandchildren

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jane Lee Watts.

The funeral was conducted Monday, Feb. 14 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Paul Readnour and Bobby Logue officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Wallace Stinett, Steve Hamlin, Randy Phillips, Chuck Lawson, Mike Barnett and Terry Bugg.

Honorary pallbearers were Larry Dearmond, Roy Grimes, John Gary Curtsinger, Tim Knight and Tom Denny.
