BOBBY COFFMAN

Robert Eugene "Bobby" Coffman, 50, of Lancaster, formerly of Perryville, died Wednesday October 19, 2005 at his home.

Born Aug. 16, 1955, in Salem, Ohio, he was a son of Maxine Coffman of Moreland and Louise Coffman of Lincoln County, and the late Obert Coffman.

He was a retired construction worker for Hayden Bridge Co.

Additional survivors include: three daughters, Robin L. Shafer, Brodhead, Christina A. Boyd, Harrodsburg, and Sherry M. Coffman, Perryville; one sister, Evelyn Moore, Mitchellsburg; and six grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 22, at Parksville Cemetery by Rev. Larry Moore.

Pallbearers will be Shane Shafer, Dan Boyd, Larry, David and Derek Moore, and Larry Garrett.

Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Saturday at Wilder Funeral Home.

BILLIE COYLE
Billie Harrison Coyle, 88, Louisville, husband of Emma "Beth" Walker Coyle, died Sunday, October 23, 2005, at Wesley Manor Nursing Center.

Born in Woodford County, he was a son of the late Joseph and Lula Mae Coyle.

He was a retired maintenance supervisor for the US Postal Service, and an US Army veteran of WW II. He was a founder and lifetime member of Aldersgate Methodist Church.

He enjoyed attending various sports activities of his children and grandchildren and helping those in need and serving the Lord.

Survivors, other than his wife, include two sons, Kenneth Coyle, Louisville, and James (Jan) Coyle, Union, KY; a daughter, Barbara Coyle Cooper, Myrtle Beach, SC; two sisters, Betty Devine, Harrodsburg, and Edith Lilly, Atlanta, GA; four grandchildren, Greg Cooper, Sunshine Coyle, Amy Coyle and Chris Coyle; two great-grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Cooper and Ansley Marie Cooper; ex-daughter-in-law, Sandy Coyle; and a special family friend, Willie Roberson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 26, at Aldersgate Methodist Church by Rev. Orin Simmerman and Rev. Ben Hahn. Burial will be in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today (Tuesday) at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Main Street, Lexington.

Contributions are suggested to Hospice of Louisville, 3532 Ephraim McDowell Drive, Louisville, KY 40205.

ELLA MONTGOMERY

Ella Marie Montgomery, infant daughter of Lee and Anne Masingale Montgomery of Athens, TN died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005 at Baptist Hospital in Knoxville, TN.

In addition to her parents, survivors include: two sisters, Sara Michael Montgomery and Maggie Claire Montgomery; maternal grandparents, Waymon and Judy Masingale of Riceville, TN; paternal grandparents, Marty and Ketrina Montgomery of Harrodsburg, and great-grandmother, Christine Montgomery, also of Harrodsburg.

The funeral was held Tuesday, Oct. 25 in the chapel of the Jerry Smith Funeral Home in Athens with the elders of the Athens Church of Christ officiating.

A private interment service was held at McMinn Memory Gardens.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Tennessee Children’s Home, c/o Athens Church of Christ, 1016 North Ave., Athens, TN 37303.

ROBERT OWENS

Robert Owens, 90, of Bushtown Road, Harrodsburg, died Friday, October 21, 2005 at Harrodsburg Health Care Manor.

Born Aug. 27, 1916, in St. Mary's County, MD, he was a son of the late Moses and Gertrude Wathan Owens.

He was a retired county employee, having worked in Prince George County, MD, and attended Neal's Creek Methodist Church. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, at Buffalo Springs Cemetery by the Rev. Donald Luttrell.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Buckner Owens; two sons, Robert Owens of St. Mary's, and Leslie Owens of Upper Marlboro, MD; a daughter, Ruth May Pyles of Prince George County; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosa Beagle Owens.

Fox Funeral Home, Stanford, is in charge of arrangements.

TENA OEI

Tena Baker Oei, 73, wife of Dr. Djong-Gie Oei for 42 years, died Wednesday, October 19, 2005, at the Hospice Care Center at St. Joseph Hospital.

Born in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late James Abraham Baker and Frances Loraine Baker.

She was a 30-year member of First United Methodist Church in Dearborn, MI. and a Dearborn Community Arts Council member. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church where she was active in the Fidelis Sunday School Class, Seniors of Centenary and the United Methodist Women.

In addition to her husband, survivors include: three daughters, Mona Safley, Columbus, IN; Peggye Simpson, Westland, MI; Gia Oei (John) Boullie, North Andover, MA; one son, Andre Oei, Hickory, NC; nine grandchildren, Christopher Simpson, Lorraine Simpson, Amy Oei, Katherine Safley, Elizabeth Safley, Meghan Oei, Kenneth Oei, Isabella Boullie and J. Thomas Boullie. Surviving siblings are James Baker, Frances Taylor, Robert Baker and Kenneth Baker, all of Lexington.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, William Baker and Harry Baker.

Visitation will be Sunday, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Milward Funeral Home, 391 Southland Drive, Lexington.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 24, at Centenary United Methodist Church, with Dr. Donald Durham and Dr. Jerry Mercer officiating. Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria, Lexington, KY 40504; or Centenary School of Music, 2800 Tates Creek, Lexington, KY, 40502.

BENJAMIN ROSS JR.

Benjamin Franklin Ross Jr., 67, Stoner Ave., died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005 in Harrodsburg.

Born Aug. 18, 1938 in Willisburg, he was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Cora Lee Beasley Ross.

He was an auto body repairman, and he was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.

Survivors include: four daughters, Jeanette (Art) Duncan of Lawrenceburg, Karen (Steve) Schuster and Charlotte (Darryl) Royalty, both of Harrodsburg, and Stacy (Billy) Snow of Burgin; three sons, Chris (Tracy) Ross of Danville and Marty (Dana) Ross and Benny Ross, both of Harrodsburg; one brother, Bobby Ross of Harrodsburg, and 15 grandchildren.

The funeral was held Tuesday, Oct. 25 at Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Reverend James Harley and Reverend Kenneth Whitehouse officiating. Burial was in the Ebenezer Cemetery in Salvisa.

Pallbearers were D. J. Lunsford, Jeffrey Duncan, Lee McLevaine and Aaron, Kody and Jeremy Ross.

Honorary pallbearers were Darryl Royalty, Art Duncan, Billy Snow, Steve Schuster, Amanda Lunsford, Hannah and Hailey Snow, Sarah Gritton, Kendra, Kristin and Kala Ross and Chelsea and Kinsley Schuster.

ELIZABETH SHEWMAKER

Elizabeth Shewmaker, 75, died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital in Harrodsburg.

Born April 11, 1930 in Washington County, she was a daughter of the late Cecil and Lola Mae Watts Shewmaker.

She was a retired Florida Tile employee and a member of Battle Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two sons, Wayne (Joyce) Shewmaker of Harrodsburg and James Allen (Kathy) Lewis of Versailles; two daughters, Vicky Warner of Lawrenceburg and Laticia Blacketer of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Wanda Baker and Rhonda Baker, both of Harrodsburg; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Lee and Gleda Hume.

The funeral will be Friday, Oct. 28 at 11 a.m. at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Eaton officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be John Rector, Freddy and Timmy Warner, Jeff Cress, Tony Rosenbarger and Tony Rosenbarger Jr., Tyrone Dean, Teddy Diser and Harold Herring.

Visitation Thursday from 6 until 9 p.m. and Friday after 7 a.m. at the funeral home.

ROBERT STAMPS SR.

Robert “Bob” Stamps Sr., 78, Harrodsburg, husband of Audrey Dowlen Stamps, died Monday, Oct. 24, 2005 at his residence.

Born Jan. 6, 1927 in Somerset, he was the son of the late Ira W. and Bertie Owens Stamps.

He was a retired regional manager for Investors Heritage Insurance, and he was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: one daughter, Sue Karen Stamps of Harrodsburg; two sons, Ronald S. (Elizabeth) Stamps of Danville and Robert D. Stamps II of Harrodsburg; two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be held Friday, Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. at the Dutton Cemetery in Somerset with Bro. Barry Harmon officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Heritage Hospice, P.O. Box 1213, Danville, KY 40422.

Arrangements are being handled by Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.

SHIRLEY BECHTEL

Shirley Ann Bechtel, 59, Harrodsburg, wife of James A. Bechtel, died Monday, Oct. 31, 2005 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington.

Born Jan. 25, 1946 in Harrodsburg, she was a daughter of the late Colie C. and Grace VanDivier Claunch.

She was a retired office manager from Wal-Mart, and she was a member of the Pioneer Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, survivors include: one daughter, Sherry (Chad) Horn; one son, Steve (Kim) Bechtel; two sisters, Colleen Burns and Cathy Holt; one brother, Ronnie Claunch, and three grandchildren, all of Harrodsburg.

The funeral will be today, Thursday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Lewis Walter and Jerel Coffey officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Butch Merchant, Cecil Riley, Jennings Burns, Donald Logue, Don Horn and Dudley Anderson,

Visitation Wednesday after 5 p.m. and Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.

BARBARA BURDEN

Barbara Nell Burden, 68, of Harrodsburg, wife of James Burden, died Thursday, October 27, 2005 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville.

She was born December 13, 1936 in Ohio County.

Additional survivors include: one daughter, Paula Hunt, Perryville; one son, Marty Burden, Shelbyville; one brother, Jack Allen, Mackville; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 27, at the William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial was in Rosine Cemetery.

VIOLET DRURY
Violet Louise Drury, 75, 630 Elizabeth Ct., wife of Edwin “Eddie” Drury, died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2005 at her residence.

Born Aug. 10, 1930 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Lattie Murphy Wilham.

She was a homemaker, and she was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, survivors include: one son, Brent (Laura) Drury of Gainesville, GA; one brother, Bobby Wilham of Harrodsburg, and three grandsons.

The funeral was held Saturday, Oct. 29 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Dr. Robert Defoor officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Tom and Nick Drury, Justin Wilham, Larry Yeager, Tommy Ashford and Bob Baker.

Memorials are suggested to the ROC (Recreation and Outreach Center) at Harrodsburg Baptist Church, 312 S. Main St., Harrodsburg, KY 40330.

JAMES GARNETT
James Orville Garnett, 75, former salesman with Wine' & Shultz and owner of Sportsman Liquor Store, died Monday, October 31, 2005.

Born in Georgetown, he was a son of the late Oby and Nora Duncan Garnett.

A graduate of the former Connersville High School in Harrison County, he was a sports enthusiast and an army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his five children, Beverly (Jim) Raisor, Debra Garnett, both of Lexington, Teresa (Chuck) Newman, Versailles, James O. Garnett, Jr. and his fiancé Vicki Voisard, both of Harrodsburg and Robert D. (Sharlene) Garnett, Lexington; one brother, Ray Garnett, FL; five grandchildren, Brandon (Danielle) Raisor, Glenn and Maggie Garnett and Tommy, Lauren and Sarah Newman; one great grandchild, Annabelle McKenna Raisor; a sister-in-law, Martha Garnett, Greenwood, IN

His wife, Margaret "Peggy" Garnett and three brothers, Robert F. Garnett, Oby Garnett, Jr. and Charles Garnett, preceded him in death.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, November 4, at W. R. Milward Mortuary-Broadway, Lexington. Burial will follow at the Georgetown Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Rick Smedley, Joseph Modica, Bobby Garnett, Larry Garnett, Gary Farris, Alan Newby and Kip Watts.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. until service time on Friday Memorials may be made to Thomson Hood Veterans Center.

PRESTON HURLBERT

Preston C. Hurlbert, 84, of Ben Ali Drive, Danville, died Saturday, October 29, 2005 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Born June 4, 1921, in Bath, NY, he was the son of the late Jess and Marie Flasphler Hurlbert.

He was a retired employee of Corning Glass, a navy veteran of World War II and a Catholic.

Survivors include: his wife, Lou Walton Hurlbert; two daughters, Diane Dotson, Shelbyvillle and Linda Pulliam, Burgin; two sons, Mike Hurlbert, Colorado Springs, CO, and Brian Hurlbert, Boyle County; one sister, Shirley Bergstresser of Penyen, NY; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

No services are planned.

Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

CHARLES KELLER
Charles Edward Keller, 89, Harrodsburg, widower of Ruby Hanby Keller, died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 3, 1915 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Joseph and Marie Dieter Keller.

He was a retired farmer, he was a longtime member of the Mercer County Farm Bureau where he had served as treasurer, and he was also a former member of the ASC Committee. He attended the Bohon Christian Church. He loved horses and purple martins.

Survivors include: one daughter, Ruby Ann (Douglas) Becker of Louisville; two sons, James E. (Ruth) Keller and Gary H. (Pat) Keller, both of Harrodsburg; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and numerous other grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by eight siblings.

The funeral was held Tuesday, Nov. 1 at Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Bro. James Harley and Bro. Bill Ransford officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Eric, Ricky and Mike Keller, Sonny Terhune, Wesley Becker and Brad Burchett. Honorary pallbearers were Bruce Harper, Mike Conover, Bart Becker and Buddy and Steve Terhune.

JUEL MOBLEY
Juel Mobley, 77, Harrodsburg, husband of Mary Frances Crawford Mobley, died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.

Born May 13, 1928 in Mercer County, he was a son of the late Golden and Hettie Hendren Mobley.

He was a farmer, a musician and a horseman. He was a member of the West End Church of Christ where he served as a deacon.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: one daughter, Janet (Bobby) Carter of Harrodsburg; one son, Jerry (Maude Ann) Mobley of Lexington; two sisters, Florence Measel of Harrodsburg and Mae Sallee of Louisville; three brothers, R.C. Mobley of Harrodsburg, James Mobley of Louisville and Donald Votaw of Lawrenceburg; two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a twin brother, Ruel Mobley, and two sisters, Vivian Goodlett and Mandy Votaw.

The funeral was conducted Friday, Oct. 28 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Mike Crowe officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Arvid Tackett, Tommy Bussell, Jerry Ledford, Bruce Helm, Bill Robinson and Charlie Carr. Honorary pallbearers were Russ Moore, Bobby Joe, Darrell and Dale Ellis, John Helm, Eddie Kelly, Rob Kernodle, John Marcum, Maurice Maddox, Doug Pendygraft, Benny Peyton, Randy Richardson, Dallas Taylor and Fred Wisner. Memorial contributions may be sent to West End Church of Christ, Perryville Road, Danville, KY 40422.

MARTHA SATTERLY
Martha Satterly, 77, Harrodsburg, died Sunday, Oct. 30, 2005 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.

Born Sept. 27, 1928 in Mackville, she was the daughter of the late Ezra and Hattie Mae Sims Curtsinger, and she was the widow of J.C. Satterly.

She was a seamstress and retired from Cricketeer Manufacturing Company and Mercer Dress and also was a crossing guard at Harrodsburg High School for many years. She was a member of the Dry Branch Baptist Church, and she was a Kentucky Colonel.

Survivors include: one daughter, Kim (Raymond) Burton, and one son, Dale (Joan) Satterly, both of Harrodsburg; two brothers, Truman (Loretta) Curtsinger of Harrodsburg, and Odell (Mildred) Curtsinger of Austin, TX; a sister-in-law, Minnie Curtsinger, three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren.

The funeral was held Wednesday, Nov. 2 at Ransdell Funeral Chapel with David Collier, Geoff Barrett and Tim Gray officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Bill Carey, Carroll Gritton, Ryan Childers, Brad Richmond, Troy Thompson and Mickey Gilliland. Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Thornton, Judd Barrett, Hugh Satterly, Glenn Peavler and Brent Curtsinger.
