GRACE DEVINE

Grace Mobley Devine, age 89, of 471 Chestnut Street, died Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born July 27, 1910 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Viola Armstrong Mobley. She was the widow of Willie D. Devine.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church. She had attended the Benton Baptist Church.

Survivors include: her daughter, Mrs. Truman (Loretta) Curtsinger, Harrodsburg; one sister-in-law, Adelena Devine, Harrodsburg; one grandchild and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 30, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Snyder, Bro. Jerel Coffey and Bro. Lewis Walter officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jason Curtsinger, Garnett Mobley, Ernest Long, Judd Barrett, Stuart Warren, Dale Satterly, and J. L. Devine. Honorary bearers were James D. Claunch, Guster Jenkins and Jewell Mobley.

JACQUELINE BURKE

Jacqueline Mildred Dunning Burke, 55, of Old Dixville Road, died Wednesday, June 28, 2000 at her residence.

Born August 6, 1944 in Corning, NY, she was the daughter of the late Donald C. and Marjorie Hartman Dunning.

She had worked at Corning of Harrodsburg for 33 years and was a member of the Cornishville Baptist Church.

Survivors include: her husband, William Donald Burke, Harrodsburg; one daughter, Andrea Jean O'Bryan, Nicholasville; one step son, Donald Keith Burke, Mercer County; two step daughters, Vonna Carol Hupp, Anderson county, Robin Lynn Kidd, Mercer County; four brothers, Butch Dunning, Salvisa, Bobby Dunning, Versailles, David Dunning, Mercer County and Tony Dunning, Harrodsburg; eight step grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 1, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Readnour officiating. Burial was held in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Eddie McGinnis, Brent McGinnis, Todd Cheatham, Bradley Dunning, Donnie Dean and Larry Dean. Honorary bearers were Michael Burke, Kevin Burke, Jeremy Dunning, Keith Dunning, Kevin Dunning, Dustin Dunning, David Anton Dunning, Nikki Hupp, David Hupp, Devan Hupp, Aaron Burke, Andrew Burke, Allie Burke, Whitney Kidd and Dillon Kidd.

JOSEPH McCRYSTAL

Joseph Richard McCrystal, 84, of Charleston Health Care Facility, Danville, died Thursday, June 22, 2000 at Charleston Health Care Facility in Danville.

Born November 27, 1915 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Richard Thomas and Hattie Cook McCrystal. He was the widower of Doris R. McCrystal.

He had worked as a livestock grader and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two daughters, Sandra (Dannie) Bugg, Kennesaw, GA, and Teresa Norma (Willis T.) Hendren, Lexington; one brother Harley McCrystal, AR; five grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 24, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Donnie Releford officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Henry Cook, Willis Lee Hendren, Marvin Rowland, Eddie Rickman, William "Bill" Pinkston, Truman Goodlett, Lee Kyle Bailey and J. B. Reed.

AUDREY BUNTAIN

Audrey Peach Cox Buntain, 78, of 100 ½ Horn Drive, Lawrenceburg, died Thursday, June 29, 2000 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born September 5, 1921 in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Pearl Searcy Peach. She was the widow of Cecil Lee Cox and Henry Lawrence Buntain.

She was a retired employee of the Printing House for the Blind in St. Matthews, a member of the Pleasant Hill Christian Church and the Anderson County Senior Citizens.

Survivors include: five sons, Bobby (Charlotte) Cox, and Gary Lawrence (Wanda) Buntain, all of Harrodsburg, James (Cathy) Buntain, Lawrenceburg, Henry (Sondra) Beasley, Benton, Arthur (Teresa) Beasley, Pilot Oak, KY; one daughter, Linda (Dan) Ireland, Breckinridge; two sisters, Leota Unteriner, St. Matthews and Dorothy Duvall, Shelbyville; 17 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Shirley Cox, and two daughters, Audrey Sue Buntain and Sara Rose Buntain.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 1, at the Gash Memorial Chapel with Bro. Lonnie Peach and Sister Bertha Brown officiating. Burial was in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Gary Lawrence Buntain, Robbie Buntain, Lewis Sewell, Roy Lee Cox, Jimmy Denney and James Noel Bowman, Jr.

ELMO LOGAN

Elmo W. Logan, 76, of St. Petersburg, FL, died Thursday, June 29, 2000, at his residence.

Born in New Liberty, IL, July 22, 1923, he was a son of Meredith and Charlotte Miller Logan.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, having retired as Master Chief Petty Officer after 30 years.

Survivors include: his wife, Yvonne Logan; one daughter, Karen, of TX; one son Dean Logan, of FL; two brothers, E. Wayne Logan, Colorado Springs, CO, and Richard M. Logan, Harrodsburg; two grandchildren.

There will be no funeral services. He will be cremated and the ashes scattered over the ocean which he loved.

LEO LONG

Leo Long, 81, of 655 Beaumont Avenue, died Friday, June 30, 2000 at his residence.

Born February 25, 1919 in Madison County, he was the son of the late Ott and Eula Prewitt Long.

He was retired after working 35 years for Kentucky Souvenirs and was a member of Fellowship Baptist church.

Survivors include: his wife, Wanda Marshbanks Long; one son, Roy Long, Hodgenville; one daughter, Brenda Noe, Lancaster; two brothers, Bobby Long and Oneal Long, both of Harrodsburg; four sisters, Edna Sutton and Reba Hall, both of Lancaster, Dora Wells, Lexington and Frances Hayden, Harrodsburg; two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 3, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home by Bro. James Harley and Chaplain Gary Story. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Bobby Allen Long, Ricky Long, Steve Hayden, David Long, Butch Hood and Ronnie Sutton. Honorary bearers were Charlie Carr, Bill Barnett, Marvin Marshbanks, Gilbert Marshbanks, Wallace Smock and Calvin Shewmaker.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Heart Fund or the American Cancer Association.

ELSIE PHILLIPS

Elsie Mann Phillips, 84, of 363 North East Street, formerly of Junction city, died Thursday, July 6, 2000 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Born June 19, 1916 in Prestonsburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles P. and Nancy Spradlin Mann. She was the widow of Ralph William Phillips Sr.

She was owner-operator for Slo's Restaurant in Junction city.

Survivors include: four sons, Ross Phillips, Lexington, Tom Dick Phillips, Harrodsburg, David Phillips, Warsaw, IN and Chuck Phillips, Junction City; three daughters, Nancy Cornish and Rita Isham, both of Harrodsburg, and Ruth Whyde, Indianapolis, IN; one brother, Charles Mann Jr., Warsaw, IN; one sister, Venus Dixon, Warsaw, IN; 20 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Ralph William Phillips, Jr.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 9, at the Junction City First Baptist Church, with Ryan Coatney and Bobby Logue officiating. Burial was in Danville Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Nicholas Phillips, Hunter Phillips, Ray Phillips, Larry Whyde Jr., Ryan Coatney, Heath Whyde, Leigh Lance and Robby Phillips. Honorary bearers were Jennifer Chamberlin, Barbara Cornish, Ashley White, Marsha Gullett, Mary Lee Cornish, Cindy Ryman, Jaime Phillips and Season Coatney.

Ransdell Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

EARL ROBINSON

Earl Robinson, 89, of Bondville Road, Salvisa, died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

A native of Anderson County, he was the son of the late George M. and Margaret Satterly Robinson, and a retired farmer.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Frances Chilton Robinson, Salvisa; one daughter, Ruby Frances (Marion) Wilson, Lawrenceburg; one brother, Billy (Nell) Robinson, Punta Gorda, FL; three sisters, Mrs. Clifford (Dolly) Lambert, Harrodsburg, Hadgie Royalty, Louisville, Gladys Wathen, Salvisa. He was preceded in death by a brother, Buford Robinson, and a sister, Hazel Robinson; one grandchild.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 9, at Gash Memorial Chapel with Bro. John Hockersmith III officiating. Burial was in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Gary Royalty, Thomas Chapman, B. R. Chilton, Mark Gash, Billy Chilton, J. B. Stratton and David Royalty.

JOYCE SMITH

Joyce Mae Smith, 52, of 305 James Street, died Saturday, July 8, 2000 at her residence.

Born May 1, 1948 in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Rose Richardson Moran.

She was a homemaker and member of Pioneer Baptist Church.

Survivors include: her husband, Marshall Smith, Harrodsburg; two daughters, Jackie Robinson and Lura Buck, both of Harrodsburg; one son, William Buck, Liberty; two sisters, Nancy Gill, Liberty, Joyce Ellen Lawson, Lexington; four brothers, Norman Noel Jr., Somerset, Glenn Noel, Bobby Noel and Anthony Noel, all of Nicholasville; grandmother, Rena Richardson, Liberty; four grandchildren and two step grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 10, at the McKinney-Brown Funeral Home in Liberty with Bro. Tim Cochran officiating. Burial was in Willow Springs Cemetery.

JOHN THOMPSON

John Thomas Thompson, age 77, formerly of 287 Boone Street, Harrodsburg, died Sunday at the Homestead Nursing Home in Lexington.

Born March 10, 1923 in Springfield, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Lewis and Pearl Brown Thompson. He was the widower of Dora DeBaun Thompson.

He was a retired farmer and bricklayer and a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II.

Survivors include: one stepson, Rufus Thompson, Lexington; two stepdaughters, Ernestine Garner, Louisville, and Frances Davis, Lexington; one sister, Mary Francis Baker, Louisville; eight step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a stepson, William Jewell Penman.

Graveside services were conducted Wednesday, July 12, in Maple Grove Cemetery with Rev. J. D. Short, III, officiating.

Parks Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

PAULINE DEVINE

Pauline Bowen Devine, 85, of Willisburg, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at the Norton Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.

Born October 12, 1914 in Washington County, she was a daughter of the late James Frank and Margie Lee Sea Bowen. She was the widow of Frank Eugene Corley and Ansel Devine.

She was a member of the Willisburg Baptist Church, a graduate of Willisburg High School, Eastern Kentucky University and also received her librarian certificate from Eastern. She taught for 34 years and served as librarian mostly in the Washington County School System at Kirkland, Willisburg and Mackville.

Survivors include: one son, Danny (Janet) Corley, Louisville; one daughter, Linda (Larry) Noort, Willisburg; one brother, William E. Bowen, Mt. Washington; seven grandchildren, three step grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, J. F. Bowen, and a sister, Irene Stine.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 9, at the Carey and Son Funeral Home, Springfield, with Bro. David Kelley and Bro. John Berry officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg.

Pallbearers were Carroll Stine, Gerry Stine, Stevie Bowen, Jackie Bowen, Gaylard Bowen and Rishel Bowen. Honorary bearers were Jimmy Bowen, Eddie Bowen, Starlette Drury, Carlene Jenkins, Sandra Wilson, Millie Moore and Barbara Berry.

GENE DARLAND

Gene "Lance" Darland, 37, of North Lane, died Saturday, July 15, 2000 in an auto accident in Mackville.

Born May 9, 1963 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Marshall William and Brenda Gayle Combs Darland.

He was a machine operator for Trim Masters Inc., and a member of the Mackville Church of Christ. He attended Western Kentucky University where he was a member of the track and field team.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include: two sons, Jeffery and Jonathon Darland, Harrodsburg; three brothers, William, Dean and Lee Darland, all of Harrodsburg; one sister, Marsha Brown, Harrodsburg; maternal grandmother, Leola Combs; paternal great grandmother, Bertha Mae Whitehouse, Harrodsburg; a special friend, Donna Hopkins, Mackville.

Funeral services were held at Tuesday, July 18, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Terry Morrison officiating. Burial was in the Ebenezer Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jeff Cloyd, Terry Coslow, Norris McKee, Dale Cinnamon, David Cinnamon and Chad Howard.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
