DELLA CLAUNCH

Della Irene Claunch, 83, of 635 Saltwell Headquarters Road, Carlisle, died Sunday, April 29, 2001 at Bourbon Community Hospital in Paris.

Born April 19, 1918 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Oma Lee Gabhart Hungate.

She was a homemaker and a member of Benton Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two daughters, Rebecca Lynn Cameron, Carlisle, Betty Jean Goodlett, Mackville; four sons, William Carlton Claunch, Jimmy Dale Claunch and Jackie Wayne Claunch, all of Harrodsburg, Joseph Alan Claunch, Lexington; two sisters, Elizabeth James, Harrodsburg, Christine Wilkins, Springdale, AR; 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandchild and one great grandchild.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 2, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Matthew Atha officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were grandsons.

ROZELLA DRURY

Rozella (Rose) Yeager Drury, 71, formerly of Talmage-Mayo Road, died Friday, April 27, 2001 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born July 30, 1929 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Orville and Nannie Drury Yeager. She was the widow of Roy Drury.

She was a former employee of the Kroger Company and a member of the Mayo Christian Church.

Survivors include: two sons, Ricky Drury, Lexington, David C. Drury, Frankfort; two daughters, Vicky Cartwright and Lisa Bugg, both of Salvisa; one brother, Brownie Yeager, Louisville; two sisters, Bonnie Goodlett, Louisville, Judi Bayless, CA; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, eight step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Herman Yeager.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 30, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Perry officiating. Burial was in the Mayo Christian Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Buford Lee Coke, Jeffery Coke, Ray Anthony Yeager, Wayne Yeager, Steve Ransdell, Carson Drury, and grandson, Jonathan Drury.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Mayo Christian Church, 1950 Central Pike, Harrodsburg, KY 40330.

IMOGENE DUNN

Imogene Jones Dunn, 58, of 520 Henrico Road, died Friday, April 27, 2001 at Vencor Hospital in Louisville.

A native of Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Ransom and Addie Bell Roach Jones.

She was a graduate of Harrodsburg High School, a member of Centennial Baptist Church, and was employed by the Mercer County Public Library.

Survivors include: her husband, Charles Dunn, Harrodsburg; eight children, Katrina (Tim) Snodgrass, Augusta, GA, Quetin (Désirée) Owens, Netherlands, Abdullah Khalil, Augusta, GA, Tiffany (Timothy) Johnson, Oklahoma City, OK, Bethany Woodward, Jonesboro, GA, John Owens (Crystal), Harrodsburg, Starla Spencer, Lexington; a step daughter, Ashley Dunn, Harrodsburg; three brothers, Artis (Irniece) Jones, NJ, Wilbert and James Jones, Lexington; 23 grandchildren, four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the Centennial Baptist Church in Harrodsburg with Rev. John Short officiating. Burial will be in Cove Haven Cemetery, Lexington.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

O. L. Hughes and Sons Mortuary, Lexington, is in charge of arrangements.

LOIS JONES

Lois Cosby Darland Jones, 71, died April 17, 2001 in Austin, TX.

Born April 24, 1930 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Everett and Cornelia Sanders Cosby.

Survivors include: three daughters, Sharon Darland Butcher, Clearwater, FL, Beverly Booker, Bloomington, IN, Debbie Joaonhori, TX; one son, Randy Jones, TX; three brothers, Maurice Cosby, Harrodsburg, Bruce Cosby, Danville, Owen Cosby, Bloomington, IN; three sisters, Mary Ann Carey, Harrodsburg, Vivian Yates, Louisville, Christine Shook, Bloomington, IN; four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held in Bloomington, IN at a later date.

REEDA GILLESPIE

Rev. Reeda Walker Gillespie, 86, of Harrodsburg, formerly of Danville, died Friday, April 27, 2001 at Harrodsburg Health Care.

Born May 5, 1914 in Red Star, AR, she was a daughter of the late Bud Walker and Jane Wages Walker Denney. She was the widow of Harvey A. Gillespie.

She was the co-founder and former pastor of First Pentecostal Church of God (Faith Temple) for 27 years. She and Rev. Leona Huddleston Faulkner built the church and worked for 38 years in the gospel field.

She was ordained by the Pentecostal Church of God in Joplin, MO and was presented her 50-year pin in 1990. She ministered to people all over the U. S. and the world.

Survivors include a half sister, Opal Lane of Tahlequah, OK.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 30, at the Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by Rev. Pat Wilson and Rev. Nancy Langdon. Burial was in Buffalo Springs cemetery in Stanford.

Pallbearers were Mark Sanders, Collos Abrams, Paul Faulkner, Reed Arnett and Jim Ely. Honorary bearers were Joyce and Ken House.

MARY HATCHELL

Mary N. Hatchell, 80, of 616 N. Main Street, died Saturday, April 28, 2001 at the Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born January 1, 1921 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Marshall and Dora Sorrell Neeley. She was the widow of Garnett Freeman and W. J. Hatchell.

She was a retired dental assistant and a member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: one son, Jerald Dale Freeman, Harrodsburg; two step daughters, Imogene Freeman, Harrodsburg, Peggy Butcher, Lexington; one grandson, seven step grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, George, Marshall, Dixie T., Henry and Charles Neeley, and two sisters, Margaret Neeley and Elsie Cole.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 1, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Mark Girard and Terry Morrison officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jerry Dale Freeman, Tim Freeman, Perry Freeman, Sam Cole, John Cole, Brian Neeley and Sonny Bryan.

PAUL HATFIELD

Paul Henry Hatfield, 69, of Harrodsburg, died Monday, April 30, 2001, at the home of his son.

Born February 16, 1932 in Chillicothe, OH, he was the son of the late Otto Jacob and Gladys Bunch Hatfield. He was the widower of Mary Anna Reed Hatfield.

He was a retired employee of the Fayette County School System, and was a cook for the Salvation Army for many years, where he was a member.

Survivors include: two sons, Paul Anthony (Terri) Hatfield, Harrodsburg, Terry Hatfield, San Francisco, CA; one daughter, Marla H. (Bill) Nicodemus, Nicholasville; one brother, Jack Otto Hatfield, Chillicothe, OH; four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Russell Hatfield, and a sister, Mellie Hatfield, both of OH.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, at the Salvation Army by Major Robert Green. Burial will be in the Wilmore Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Heritage Hospice, 337 W. Broadway, Danville, KY 40423.

Kerr Brothers Funeral Home in Lexington was in charge of arrangements.

CORDIE LAY

Cordie Long Lay, 89, of Bellows Mill Road, died Monday, April 30, 2001 at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

Born August 22, 1911 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Nelson and Elva Nicholson Long. She was the widow of William Marshall Lay.

She was a homemaker, a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church, and a former member of Mt. Freedom Baptist Church in Cardwell.

Survivors include: one son, Sherman (Sherley) Lay, Lexington; two brothers, Ray (Lula) Long, Louisville, J. W. Long, Willisburg; one sister, Leona Burns, Louisville; one grandson. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Leslie, Clyde, and Rev. Homer Long; two sisters, Jeannetta Long and Edna Votaw, and one grandson, William David Lay.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 3, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Dr. Robert DeFoor and Rev. Coleman Burke officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Long, Everett Long, Maurice Votaw, Sidney Elder, Sherill Baker and Leo Lay.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, and after 7:00 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

R. LYLE MOORE

R. Lyle Moore, 40, of Cincinnati, died Saturday, April 28, 2001.

A native of Lexington, he was the son of Barbara Hinkle, Lexington, and the late William Hinkle.

He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky where he played Rugby and was an avid outdoorsman.

Survivors in addition to his mother, include: his wife, Elizabeth Kenney Bigelow Moore, Cincinnati; two daughters, Elizabeth Jordan Moore and Katherine Baxter Moore, both of Cincinnati; maternal grandmother, Alice Kelley, Berea; three sisters, Lynne Harris, Lisa Rhorer and Jenny Carter; one brother, Larry Moore, Harrodsburg.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 7820 Beechmont Ave., Cincinnati, OH, on Friday, May 4 at 10:00 a.m.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 3, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the residence of Prescott Bigelow III, 5079 Signal Hill Lane, Cincinnati.

OPHELIA NEVIUS

Ophelia D. Nevius, 83, formerly of Cane Run Street, died Wednesday, April 25, 2001 at the James. B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born January 2, 1918 in Garrard County, she was the daughter of the late Clint and Mary Shearer Preston. She was the widow of John "Jay" Nevius.

She was a retired James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital Nursing Assistant and a member of the Joseph Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher and a member of the UMW.

Survivors include: one son, George William "Billy" Nevius; one daughter, Mrs. Juanita Catherine Ball, Harrodsburg; one nephew, whom she reared, Davis Nevius; seven grandchildren, four step grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, nine step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Stuart Nevius.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 28, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Buddy Coleman and Rev. Frank Pennington officiating. Burial was in Danville Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Darrell Preston, Randy Preston, Raymond Allen Preston, Gary Preston, Danny Preston, Cliff Black and Kenny Preston. Honorary bearers were David and Jeanene Ball, Donna and Steve Anderson, Chuck Nevius, Brady Nevius, Lee and Vinny Magliulo, Bryan and Crystal Nevius, Chad and Shannon Nevius, Jay Anderson, Justin Ball, Derek Ball, Ami Anderson, Ashlyn Nevius, Vincent Magliulo, Ellen Magliulo and Bailey Nevius.

Memorial contributions may be made to Joseph Chapel United Methodist Church, c/o Jackie Hilbert, 423 Larue Street, Harrodsburg, KY 40330.
