JUNIOR ALSMAN

Junior Lee Alsman, 56, of 333 E. Office Street, died Thursday, May 2, 2002 at the Danville Center for Health and Rehab in Danville.

Born July 13, 1945 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Jesse Lee and Minnie Katherine Goodlett Alsman.

He was a retired painter and a member of Ellers Memorial Baptist Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Shirley Alsman, Harrodsburg; one son, Jimmy Alsman, Leitchfield; three daughters, Lisa Taylor, Rachel Baltimore, and Sandra Alsman, all of Harrodsburg; one brother, Onise Alsman, Perryville; one sister, Imogene Cornish, Harrodsburg; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Rae Pinkston.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 4, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with James Harley officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Doug Alsman, Brandon Taylor, Jim Rainey, Brandon Carey, Daniel Patrick, Derrick Patrick. Honorary bearers were Nick Alsman, Andy Baker and LeLand McQuiston.

RONALD HARRISON

Ronald Harrison, 57, of Stanford, died Friday, May 3, 2002 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Born July 15, 1944 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late James C. and Sarah Catherine Harrison.

He was a machine operator for Dana Brake Corp., and a member of Lanes Chapel Church in Buena Vista.

Survivors include: his wife, Sue Adams Harrison, Stanford; one daughter, Amanda J. 'Jeanie' Harris of Harrodsburg; three brothers, Robert Harrison, Junction City, William W. and Ernest L. Harrison, both of Burgin; three sisters, Elizabeth C. Casey, Burgin, Sheila G. Brickey, Lancaster, and Fredia E. Blacketer of Moreland; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Rhonda and Catherine Harrison.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 7, at the Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford with Norman Hagley officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Leonard King, Ernie Joseph, Les Jones, Tommy, David and Jimmy Harrison. Honorary bearers were friends of Dana Corp., second shift.

ANNA UNDERWOOD

Anna Miller Underwood, 75, of U. S. 27, Lancaster, died Sunday, May 5, 2002 at Fort Logan Hospital in Lancaster.

Born December 26, 1926 in Garrard County, she was the daughter of the late James Greenway and Lucy Rucker Conn. She was the widow of James E. Underwood.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include: four daughters, Ruthie Goodlett, Danville, Janice Causey, Garrard County, Beverly Patton, Harrodsburg, and Brenda Macfarlane of Augusta, GA; two brothers, Jonas Conn, New Carlisle, OH, Claud Conn, Tuscola, IL; three sisters, Stella Alimo, West Pittston, PA, Edith Sparks, New Hartford, NY, and Freda Barnes of Danville; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 8, at the Ramsey Funeral Home in Lancaster with Rev. Everett Priddy officiating. Burial was in Lancaster Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Gary Yeager, Steve Johnson, Phillip Hacker and Steve Zaccarelli.

JOHN WHITTAKER

John Whittaker, 53, of 1864 Bohon Road, died Saturday, April 27, 2002 at Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born December 12, 1948 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Garnett G. and Mary Frances Gayhart Whittaker.

He was a farmer and attended the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include: two brothers, Dan (Kathy) Whittaker and Wayne (Helen) Whittaker, both of Harrodsburg; four sisters, Gayle (J. W.) Fister, Lexington, and Wanda (Steve) Crane, Etta Mae (Freddie) Bugg, and Shirley (Billy) Taylor, all of Harrodsburg; and a special nephew, Billy Dean (Lois) Whittaker, Harrodsburg, who was raised as a brother in their home. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jackie James Whittaker.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 30, 2002 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Gary Story officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were David Vinyard, Scott McGinnis, Mike Darland, Rodney Click, Tim Darland, Terry Steele and Brent Steele. Honorary bearers were Lee Howard Releford, Billy Hollar, Philip Durr, Kenneth Whittaker, Othel Browning, Bobby Ross, Jimmy Keller and Rufus Carr.

Memorials are suggested to Heritage Hospice.

CHESTER YEAST

Chester T. Yeast of Stayton, OR, died April 30, 2002 in Stayton.

Born February 14, 1928 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late John and Cordie Yeast.

Survivors include: his wife, Virginia Yeast, Stayton, OR; and one brother, Warren Yeast, Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Willard, Claude, Harvey, Glenn and Connie Yeast, and two sisters, Hazel White and Nona Blacketer, and a half sister, Effie Shewmaker.

Interment of ashes will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. No local services are planned.

MILITARY RITES
Douglas Laws Post #52, American Legion, Post #6935, VFW and DAV Post #54 conducted Military Rites for James Graham at Spring Hill cemetery on May 6, 2002.

Those attending were Joe Harlow, Chris Stines, Howard H. Howells, James Tewmey, Marion Mershon, Tom Rappleye, Lucian Landers and Tommy Denny.

RUBY BENNETT

Ruby C. Bennett, 97, of Cardinal Meadows, died Thursday, May 9, 2002 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.

Born March 28, 1905 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Henry L. and Emma Reed Chilton. She was the widow of D. Sam Bennett.

She had worked as a pastry cook for Shaker Village and was a member of Burgin Christian Church.

Survivors include: one son, Sam (Martha) Bennett, Harrodsburg; one daughter, Sue Cloyd, FL; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Sammy Joan Bennett and Samuel C. Bennett Jr.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 11, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Linda Gearhart officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were David Bennett, Rodney Cloyd, Jason Cloyd, Brandon Cloyd, Sam Qualls and Ed Yount.

Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society or the Burgin Christian Church.

WILLIAM BUGG JR.

William Charles Bugg Jr., 68, of 103 Eminence Ave., died Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born August 12, 1933 in Boyle County, he was the son of the late William Charles and Martha Jane Ross Bugg Sr.

He was a retired electrician for North Point Training Center, a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.

Survivors include: his wife, Eulah Mae Bugg, Harrodsburg; four sons, William 'Buddy' (Lisa) Bugg, Daniel Bugg, Steven (Kim) Bugg, all of Mercer County, and David (Linda) Bugg, Hustonville; one daughter, Vicki (Ronnie) Robinson, Mercer County; two sisters, Peggy Bowman, Bardstown, and Jean Stringer, Eubank; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Carolyn Bugg and Janet Lee Bugg Phillips.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 11, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jerry Perry Officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were grandsons and nephews. Honorary bearers were Stuart May, Darlyn Robinson and Greg Lester.

Memorials are suggested to the Fraternal Order of Police, PO Box 1771, Danville, KY 40422.

ARTHUR HARNEY

Arthur M. Harney Jr., 84, of Lake Road, Bour-bon County, died Sunday, May 12, 2002.

He was born January 9, 1918 in Bourbon County, son of the late Arthur and Ruby Fisher Harney Sr.

He was a graduate of Ruddles Mill High School and the University of Kentucky, a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity and Ruddles Mill Christian Church.

He was an avid golfer, a farmer and former associate of Farmer's Home Administration.

He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include: his wife, Ruth Ammerman Harney, Bourbon County; one daughter, Martha Harney (David) Stipanuk, Ithaca, NY; two sons, James Arthur (Ann) Harney, Harrodsburg, and Thomas Mills (Linda) Harney, Frankfort; four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Beth Harney, and a brother, Glenn Harney.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home in Paris, by Bro. Leo Glancy. Burial will be in the Paris Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Dailey, Kenny Rose, Johnny McKinney, Hoyle Lawson, Mike Kearns, Harry Speaks Jr., and Jerry Mitcheltree. Honorary bearers will be Tom Collins, Bob Trimble and Ted Auxier.

Memorials are suggested to Ruddles Mill Christian Church.

Visitation will be after 12 noon Thursday, May 16.
