JOSEPH LENTZ

Joseph Lentz of Boone, NC, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Friday, Nov. 20 at his home.

He retired from Signet Systems in 1995 after 20 years of employment.

He is survived by a daughter, Heather A. Lentz, of Aurora, CO. and was preceded in death by his wife, June Lentz.

Austin & Barnes Funeral Home and Crematory, Boone, NC, was in charge of arrangements.

MAY LESTER

May Unifer Cummins Lester, 93, widow of Marvin J. Lester, died Wednesday December 2, 2009.

She was a member of Benton Baptist Church in Mercer County.

She is survived by: her daughter, Carol Ann Reynolds; and granddaughter, Laura Michelle Reynolds.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 7, at Milward-Southland in Lexington with burial in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass.

GENE LOUALLEN

Gene Louallen, 66, of Harrodsburg, died Friday, Dec. 4, 2009 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

Born May 19, 1943 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Mike and Maggie (Hardin) Louallen.

He was a retired truck driver.

Survivors include: a sister, Louise Hayden of Nicholasville; special friend, Kaylie Nichole Hurlbert; several cousins, nieces and nephews

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 7 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with DeWayne Brewer officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery

Memorial contributions may be sent to the family in care of Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

LILLIE MONTGOMERY

Lillie Edith Reynolds Montgomery, 82, widow of Henry Reynolds and Ben Montgomery, passed away December 2, 2009 at Dover Manor Nursing Home.

She was born July 4, 1927 in Casey County. She was the daughter to the late Luther and Esta Garrett Wheeler and grew up with 7 sisters and 3 brothers.

Survivors include her children: Henry Clayton (Margaret) Reynolds, Corinth, Charles (Brenda) Reynolds, Salvisa, Lillie (Patrick) Schweighardt, Lexington, Larry (Frankie) Reynolds, Georgetown, Tommy (Peggy) Reynolds, Corinth, Wayne Reynolds, Georgetown, Michael (Francis) Reynolds, Corinth, Timothy (Kim) Reynolds, Harrodsburg, Anthony (Josephine) Reynolds, Lexington, and Mark Reynolds. 25 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Nettie Lawson, Lexington, Iva Brown, FL, Shirley King, Lexington, Sue Burkhard, FL, and one brother, Ray Wheeler, TX.

Funeral services were conducted Monday December 7, at the Tucker, Yocum, & Wilson Funeral Home in Georgetown with Rev. David Dunn officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Lexington.

Casket bearers were her sons.

CORINNE NEELEY

Corinne Carey Randolph Neeley of Richmond, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009 at her daughter’s home in Mitchellville, Iowa.

Born Jan. 8, 1927 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Lula McGrath Carey. She was a member of the Union City Christian Church in Richmond.

Survivors include: three daughters, Robin K. Jems of Mercer County, Kim (Terry) Misenheimer of Mitchellville, Iowa, and Colleen Jenkins of Louisville; two sons, Rusty Randolph of Gastonia, N.C. and Kevin (Donna) Randolph of Jay, Florida; two sisters, Mary Ellen Fletcher of Cincinnati and Betty Hubbard of Richmond. 20 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Cathi Sparks and Carey Flickinger; one sister, Elsie Burton and three brothers; Thomas Carey, Edwin Carey, and Rubert Carey.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Kevin Randolph officiating. Visitation will begin at noon on Saturday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Cancer Society of one’s choice.

LEROY PIKE

Leroy Pike, 78, of Parksville died Wednesday December 2, 2009 in Danville.

Born April 15, 1931, in Boyle County, he was a son of the late Morris Cleaver and Nettie Mae Davis Pike. He was the husband of Christine King Pike.

Leroy was a self-employed brick and stone mason, and an Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He loved working with horses, whittling under a big shade tree and traveling. Along with his two sons, Leroy enjoyed working on cars and trucks; he did most of the mechanical work on all the family vehicles.

In addition to his wife of 58 years, Christine, he is survived by: five children, Barbara (Chris) Hale of Gravel Switch, Roy Thomas (Sue) Pike of Parksville, John Michael Pike of Boyle County, Betty Ann Stines of Harrodsburg and Gale Mason of Danville; three sisters, Marie “Sis” Pike of Hustonville, Glenna “Jean” Pike of Danville and Margaret Ann (Charlie) White of Danville; two brothers, Harold Pike of Perryville and Jesse Pike of Danville; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Leroy was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alyssa Lance Owens, and four brothers.

Funeral services were Sunday, December 6, at the Wilder Funeral Home in Perryville by Rev. J. R. Fields, with burial in Parksville Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Rick and Tim Owens, Jason, Darren and Roy Pike and Dustin Mason.

Honorary pallbearers were Leroy’s granddaughters and Chris Hale.

Expressions of sympathy are suggested to the UK Children’s Hospital in memory of Aly.

ABBY YEAST

Abby Gail Hayslett Yeast, 47, of Harrodsburg, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Born June 25, 1962 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Albertine Robinson Hayslett.

She was an employee of Corning Glass in Harrodsburg and a graduate of Harrodsburg High School.

Survivors include her husband, Steve Yeast; two sons: Brian (Carrie) Sallee of Aurora, CO and Ronald Yeast of Harrodsburg: one daughter, Kya Yeast of Harrodsburg and one brother Donnie (Donna) Hayslett of Harrodsburg. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Mike Patterson.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Dec. 6, at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. J.D. Short officiating. Burial was in Burgin Memorial Gardens with Chris Votaw, Bryan Horvat, Jason Alexander, Paul Ellis, Brodey Votaw, Shane Abrams, Mark Sullivan, and Cory Sullivan serving as pallbearers.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Mercer County Humane Society.

PATRICIA YOUNG

Patricia Sue “Patsy” Robinson Young, 66, of Harrodsburg, died Friday, December 4, 2009 at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington.

She was the daughter of Martha Cottrell Robinson, Lawrenceburg, and the late Eugene Robinson.

She was a graduate of Anderson County High School, and retired as a food service manager.

She is survived by: her husband, Walter Young; one daughter, Kelli Chapman Ammones, Harrodsburg; three sisters, Doris (Clarence) Goodpaster, Harrodsburg, Betty Thompson, and Edith (Jimmy)Hanks, both of Lawrenceburg; one brother, Larry (Ramona) Robinson, Lawrenceburg; granddaughters, Kayla (Brian) Smalley, and Keera Roy, both of Harrodsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Robinson, sister, Pam Robinson, and a grandson, Brian Ross.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 7, at the Gash Memorial Chapel in Lawrenceburg with Bro. John Hockersmith officiating. Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of the Bluegrass.

Casketbearers were Brian Smalley, Adam Browning, Clarence Goodpaster, Jimmy Hanks, Larry Robinson, and Kurt Meyer.

JULIA AGEE

Julia M. Agee, 78, the widow of Cletus Agee, died Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at her home in Lexington.

She was born June 26, 1931 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky, to the late Christine Pruitt and Oscar L. Leece.

Julia is survived by: two daughters, Sandra Agee of Lexington and Darlene Myers of Harrodsburg; Mary Agee, Lexington; one sister, Doris Davis of OH; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be private.

Clark Legacy Center in charge of arrangements.

MARSHALL COCHRAN

Marshall Lee Cochran, 56, died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Born April 5, 1953 in Boyle County, he was the son of the late Tom and Myrtle Beavers Cochran.

He was an employee for the City of Harrodsburg street department for the past seventeen years and was a member of the Southern Avenue Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa Sue Russell Cochran; two daughters, Penny (Joe) Curtsinger and Jenny (Max Reeser) Cochran, of Harrodsburg; one sister, Brenda Cochran of Danville; his mother-in-law, Helen Russell of Harrodsburg; and two grandsons.

Funeral services were conducted Dec. 13 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Derek Baker officiating. Burial was in Patterson cemetery with Leo Vaughn, Garry Drury, Richard Robinson, Jason Gaddis, David Cochran, Bentley Jones, Monty Trower and Hobert Proctor serving as pallbearers.
