Kentucky Marriage Records by County

KEITH McGUIRE

Keith D. McGuire, 65, of 403 Arlington, Avenue, Clarksville, IN, died Monday, September 30, 2002 at the University of Louisville Hospital.

Born April 6, 1937 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late John Henry and Eva Opal Darland McGuire.

He was a horse trainer, dry waller, a veteran of the U. S. Army, and had served two terms in the Kentucky National Guard.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, liked working with horses, hunting and fishing and was a member of the American Legion Post #52 and the Kentucky Racing Commission.

Survivors include: two sons, Keith Alan McGuire, West Liberty, Brian Kevin McGuire, Harrodsburg; four brothers, Ralph McGuire, Vernon McGuire, both of Harrodsburg, Leslie McGuire, Louisville, and Eugene McGuire, Salvisa; three sisters, Pauline Caine, Louisville, LaVerne Grider and Irene Harlow, both of Harrodsburg; one granddaughter, Ashley Richie. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Evelyn McGuire and three brothers, J. H. McGuire, Jr., James William McGuire and Kenneth Lee McGuire.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 3, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. James Harley officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with nephews serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 7:00 am. Thursday at the funeral home.

BETSY RUSSELL

Betsy Leonard Russell, 82, of Perryville, died Friday, September 27, 2002 in Danville.

Born May 24, 1920 in Boyle County, she was a daughter of the late Jackson Hugh and Bessie Walston Leonard.

She had been an employee of the Mackville bank, a graduate of Perryville High School and Spencerian Business College in Lexington.

She was a member of the Beech Grove Baptist Church where she was the pianist and organist for 25 years.

Survivors include: her husband, J. M. Russell, Perryville; one daughter, Janice Purdy, Louisville; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Carol Russell.

Funeral services were held Monday, September 30, at the Wilder Funeral Home in Perryville. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Perryville.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Beech Grove Baptist Church.

RALPH RUSSELL

Ralph T. “Spike” Russell, 72, of Fairground Road, Stanford, died Wednesday, September 25, 2002 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Born October 21, 1929 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Robert A. and Ethel Tewmey Russell.

He was a former owner and operator of Dunn’s Coin-o-matic Laundromat and Russell’s Washhouse.

He was a 1949 graduate of Danville High School and attended Eastern Kentucky University.

He was an army veteran.

Survivors include: His wife, Donna Faye Bolin Russell; Stanford; Three sons, Ralph Thomas Russell, Lexington, James Allen Russell, Stanford, and Paul B. Russell, Danville; one brother, Jimmy Russell, Danville; one grandson.

Funeral services were held Monday, September 30, at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home in Danville with Rev. Gary Story and Rev. Dale Denton officiating. Burial was in Bellevue Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Bobby Sinkhorn, Billy Burns, Andy Parker, Adam Miller, Louis Prichard and Dr. Sam Reid.

Memorials are suggested to Heritage Hospice.

CHARLES TAYLOR

Charles R. Taylor, 62, of 614 Ada Drive, died Sunday, September 29, 2002 at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born March 6, 1940 in Mercer County, he was the son of Birtie R. and Pearl Drury Taylor.

He was a carpenter and a member of Bohon Baptist Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Irene Payne Taylor, Harrodsburg; two sons, Brian Taylor and Aaron Taylor, both of Harrodsburg; one stepson, Jay Johnson, Harrodsburg; one stepdaughter, Laura Broughton, Brodhead; three brothers, Bruce, Buford and Billy Taylor, all of Harrodsburg; two half brothers, William C. Taylor and Steve Taylor, both of Harrodsburg; two half sisters, Connie Bivins, Harrodsburg, Rita Durr, Harrodsburg; two grandsons, Dylan Taylor and Jonathon Broughton. He was preceded in death by a brother, Owen Taylor.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 1, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Jerel Coffey officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Wayne Steele, Lori Steele, Todd Taylor, Travis Taylor, Aaron Mobley and John Jenkins.

WALTER WORTHINGTON

Walter Worthington, 66, of 613 Ada Drive, died Tuesday, October 1, 2002 at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born December 25, 1935 in Danville, he was the son of the late Obie and Betty Montgomery Worthington.

He was a disabled veteran, a member of the American Legion, VFW, DAV and had served in the army during the Korean War.

He was a member of Perryville Baptist Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Evalee Gennell Worthington, Harrodsburg; three sons, Marty Dale Worthington, Hustonville, Timothy Worthington, Stanford, and Justin Worthington, Alum Springs.

One daughter, Adrienne Colyer, Lancaster; three stepsons, Emerson St. John, New York, NY, Lawrence Emerson, Perryville, and Frankie Emerson, Danville; two stepdaughters, Jeanette Collins, Corinth, and Angelia Newbury, Shakopee, MN; three brothers, Obie Worthington, Danville, Bobby Worthington, Junction City, and Irvin Worthington, Parksville; four sisters, Betty Deringer, Imogene Hart and Mary Elizabeth Langford, all of Harrodsburg, and Anna Wilma Coffman, Danville; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Randy Worthington.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 4, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Everett Priddy and Don Drake officiating. Burial will be in Camp Nelson Cemetery, Nicholasville, with military rites.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass or Alzheimer’s Association, 801 S. Limestone, Suite E, Lexington, KY 40508-4048.

Visitation will be at the chapel after 5:00 p.m. Thursday and prior to service on Friday.

LOURANA HALL
Mrs. Lourana D. Hall, 79, of Warwick Road, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, in Lexington.

Born Aug. 4, 1923, in Estill County, she was the widow of Omer Hall and daughter of the late Everett and Sarah Ellen Watson Dickerson. She was a member of of the Shakertown Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting and gardening.

Survivors include her son, Audney BoHall and his wife, Gwen, of Lexington; two daughters, Mrs. Avon Goodlett of Harrodsburg, and Mrs. Omer Ruth Hall and her husband Harvey, of Scott County; eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and two special friends, Oscar and Diane Rogers of Winchester.

She was preceded in death by a son, Ova Hall, two brothers, John Dickerson and Preston Dickerson, and a sister, Kathleen Hughes.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Donnie Releford officiating. Burial will be in the Cob Hill Cemetery in Estill County at 2 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Darrell Dickerson, Charles Adrian Dickerson, Carl Lloyd Dickerson, Jamie Griffith, and Walter Prewitt. Honorary pallbearers will be T. J. Bell, Andrew Griffith, Matthew Griffith, Tyler Dixon, Daniel Edwards, Jerry Wayne Prewitt, Brian Thomas Goodlett, Jonathan Glenn Hall, Robert Marcum, II, and Fred Davis.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.

RUBY PARSONS STEM

Mrs. Ruby Parsons Stem, 90, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at the Northern Kentucky Rehabilitation and Care Center, Highland Heights.

Born Dec. 5, 1911 in Mercer County, she was the widow of Bill Stem and daughter of the late Wess and Dessie Stratton Parsons. She was a Baptist and a homemaker.

Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Cornelius, Mrs. Gertrude Sheeogog, and Mrs. Dorothy Louise Tatum, all of Harrodsburg, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date. Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

NANCY YOUNG
Nancy Kathryn Young, 89, of Boone Street, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born April 10, 1913, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Erastus and Effie Lay Young. She was a member of Mt. Freedom Church and attended the Fellowship Baptist Church.

Survivors include a niece, Barbara Jo Y. Faith; two great nieces, Tammy Simpson, and Scottie Alford, both of Harrodsburg, and a sister-in-law, Marjorie P. Young, Harrodsburg.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. James Harley officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Freedom Cemetery in Washington County. Visitation will be at the chapel from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and prior to the service Thursday.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Meredith, Ernest Mobley, Leo Lay, Thomas Sanders Jr., Marvin Osbourn, and John Hawes.

CHRISTINE P. BISHOP
Christine P. Curtsinger Bishop, 87, of 338 Bonnylynn Drive died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002 at the Danville Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born July 17, 1915 in Gravel Switch, she was the widow of Howard Lee Bishop and daughter of the late John and Hattie Guthrie Curtsinger. She was a retired seamstress at Mercer Dress Company and a member of the Magnolia Street Christian Church.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Leslie and Mary Bishop of Salvisa, Don and Virginia Bishop of Springdale, AR, and Robert and Linda Bishop of Harrodsburg; two brothers, Russell Curtsinger of Harrodsburg and T. J. Curtsinger of Orlando, FL, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and J.C. Curtsinger, and four sisters, Helen Taylor, Ruby McGothin, Frances Watts and May Curtsinger.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Bro. Matthew Atha officiating. Burial was in the Springhill Cemetery.

ALLIE MAE GAYTON

Allie Mae Gayton, 91, of Milton, MA and formerly of Harrodsburg, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002 in Massachusetts.

Born Feb. 11, 1911 in Danville, she was the daughter of the late William Gayton Sr. and Annie Penman Gayton.

She attended Bate High School in Danville, was a caregiver to the family of Robert Spenlinhauer for over 51 years and was a member of the Little Zion Baptist Church and served in the Loyal Benevolent Society.

Survivors include a brother, William Gayton Jr. of Toledo, OH; two sisters, Anna Wilma Campbell of Brooklyn, NY, and Jewell Lay of Harrodsburg; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Hollie Akiawowo of Hempstead, NY, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Harold Hollie Sr. and by three sisters, Ora Gayton, Mary Miller and Thlema Gayton.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the Little Zion Baptist Church with Bro. Phillip A. Yates officiating. Burial was in the Robinson Roe Cemetery in Burgin.

Pallbearers were C.L. Bartleson, Roy Cochran, James Dunn and Leon Gooch.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Heritage Hospice or Little Zion Baptist Church.

Parks Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

FRANK CARPENTER

Frank Chase Carpenter, 89, of 459 Sycamore Court, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born June 24, 1913 in Danville, he was the son of the late Elmer Lee and Ellen Foster Carpenter.

He was a retired farmer, dairy inspector for Berea College and manager of American Dairy Association of Kentucky.

Carpenter was a member of Burgin Christian Church, where he was a deacon emeritus. He also was a member of the Kingston Masonic Lodge in Madison County for 70 years and was a Kentucky Colonel.

Survivors include: his wife, Flossie Kirkland Carpenter of Harrodsburg; a daughter, Ellen Grayce Hellard of Versailles; a brother, Maurice Carpenter of Lexington; two sisters, Beatrice Shuel of Princeton, IN, and Evelyn Warner of Harrodsburg; seven nieces, and four nephews.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jeanette Lucas officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Robert Warner, Troy Watson, James Wheeler, Curtis Bailey, A.T. Dean Jr., Fred VanArsdall, Michael Simms.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Burgin Christian Church.
