Lillie Young Reed, 82, of Burgin, died Saturday, May 17, 2003 at the Rockcastle County Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
Born October 20, 1920, she was the daughter of the late John and Lena Selch. She was raised by her stepfather, the late Riley Taylor.
Survivors include: a loving friend, Lloyd Shewmaker, Burgin; three sons, J. R. Asbery, Greenup, Hubert Asbery, Bedford, IN, and Bill Asbery, Orleans, IN; one daughter, Evelyn Reynolds, Burgin; one brother, Arthur Selch, Liberty; two half sisters, Georgia Woodrum, Danville, and Mary Watts, IN; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two half brothers, Silas and Jake Taylor.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 20, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. James Harley officiating. Burial was in Burgin Memorial Gardens.
FRANCES ROBINSON
Frances Chilton Robinson, 86, of Bondville Road, Salvisa, died Monday, May 19, 2003 at her residence.
Born March 2, 1917 in Mercer County, the daughter of the late John Myers McCoy Chilton and Ruby Houchin Chilton. She was the widow of Aubrey Earl Robinson
She was a homemaker and a member of the Claylick United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Ruby Frances (Marion) Wilson, Lawrenceburg; one brother, Earl McCoy (Katherine) Chilton, Salvisa; one sister, Corine Chilton, Lawrenceburg; one grandson, Aubrey Keith Wilson, Lawrenceburg. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Emma J. Chapman, and Nellie Stratton; two brothers, Huntly Chilton and John H. Chilton.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 22, at Gash Memorial Chapel with Bro. John Hockersmith III officiating. Burial will be in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Thomas E. Chapman, Billy Chilton, B. R. Chilton, Mark Gash, J. B. Stratton, David Royalty and Gary Royalty.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 8:00 a.m. Thursday.

SUSIE ROGERS
Susie Mae Rogers, 87, of Vero Beach, FL, formerly of Mercer County, died Friday, May 16, 2003 at her residence.
Born November 5, 1915 in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Lula Maxey Mullins.
She was an attendant at Madison State Hospital and a former member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Edinburgh. She attended Jehovah’s Witnesses at Vero Beach.
Survivors include: her husband, Owen D. Rogers, Vero Beach, FL; one son, Esthel B. Edwards, Atlanta, GA; three daughters, Kathleen F. Marvin, Vero Beach, FL, Peggy Partello, Grayling, MI, and Ethel Chatham, of Madison; stepsons, William, Doug and Danny Rogers, all of Kentucky; one brother, Earl Mullins, Danville; three sisters, Lucy Rousey, Stanford, Isa Nutgrass, IL and Ila Carey, KY; 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son and three sisters.
A memorial service will be held Friday, May 23, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Turnpike Feeder Road in Ft. Pierce, FL.

ROBERT SHEPERSON
Robert Sheperson, 92, of 443 W. Office Street, died Thursday, May 15, 2003 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born November 30, 1910 in Danville, he was the son of the late J. L. and Addie Owens Sheperson.
He was a retired farmer and a member of Bohon Church of Christ.
Survivors include: his wife, Lelia Burns Sheperson, Harrodsburg; one daughter, Vena (Harold) Preston, Lexington; two sons, Robert (Pat) Sheperson, and Gerald (Linda) Sheperson, both of Harrodsburg; four sisters, Lorraine Burns, Burgin, Sada Carey and Molly Carey, both of Lexington, and Isabell Cummins, Celina, TN; one brother, Wallace Sheperson, Harrodsburg; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two sons, Vincent and Condit Sheperson, and a brother, Sam Sheperson.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 17, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Bob Jones officiating. Burial was in the Bohon Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Scott Sheperson, Mike Sheperson, Mack Mayes, Alex Poulter, Jon Preston and Danny Chapman. Honorary bearers were Gerald Gray, Bobby Sadler, Bernice Ward, W. DONALD STUMPH
Donald Wayne Stumph, 32, of Versailles Road, Lawrenceburg, died Thursday, May 15, 2003 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington.
Born April 10, 1971 in Mercer County, he was the son of Donna Kay Tyler (Ernie) Bostic of Lawrenceburg, and Donald H. Stumph of Harrodsburg.
He was an employee of Tyler’s Masonry in Mercer County and a member of the Full Gospel Assembly of God in Lawrenceburg. He enjoyed basketball, fishing, car races, playing pool, telling jokes and driving fast cars.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include: his wife, Melanie Jill Cunningham Stumph, Salvisa; one son, Marcus Brent Cunningham; three daughters, Angel Michelle Stumph and Caitlyn Starr Stumph, all of Salvisa, and Kayla Nicole Crase, Muncie, IN; one brother, Daniel Ray “Dougan” Stumph, Lawrenceburg; two half brothers, Matthew Stumph, Harrodsburg, and Michael Stumph, Moreland; a half sister, Susan Abrams, Mercer County; maternal grandparents, Donald and Betty Tyler, Salvisa; paternal grandparents, Bud Stumph, and Barbara Stumph, both of Harrodsburg.
Funeral service were held Sunday, May 18, at the Full Gospel Assembly of God in Lawrenceburg, with Bro. Kenny Robinson, Bro. Steve Dennis, Bro. Mark Studler, Bro. Curtis Sims and Bro. Don wells officiating. Burial was in the Kirkwood Cemetery.

H. C. VAN ARSDALE
H. C. Van Arsdale, 101, of Chestnut Hill, PA died Monday, April 28, 2003 at Springfield Residence.
Born in 1901 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late H. C. Van Arsdale Sr. and Mary Willia Royalty Van Arsdale. He was the widower of Gertrude “Pat” Caine and Marion E. Crowther.
He was educated in the public schools of Harrodsburg until the eighth grade and worked to help support his family by shucking corn and working as an odds maker at racetracks near his hometown of Harrodsburg.
He moved to Philadelphia, PA in 1930 after getting a job with Agfa and in 1933 became sales manager for Lambert Pharmacal Co. of St. Louis. In 1938 he worked for Smith Kline and French Inc., as vice president of sales. He was president of the National Wholesale Druggists Association in 1958. He retired in 1968 as president of a successor company, the Drug House, Inc. a pharmaceutical wholesale operation in Philadelphia.
He was one of the founding partners of Music Fairs Corp., and past president of Holiday Fairs Inc.
Survivors include: one daughter, Patricia Van Arsdale Murray, PA; one son, Donald N. Van Arsdale, PA; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services and burial were private.

ELIZABETH WHITE
Elizabeth White, 95, of 405 Broadway, Lawrenceburg, died Sunday May 8, 2003 at Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born November 12, 1907 in Muncie, IN, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Ella Maupin Lathrem. She was the widow of Ansel Davis White.
She was a homemaker, a seamstress and a member of the Lawrenceburg Presbyterian Church.
She and her husband owned and operated White’s Jewelry in Lawrenceburg for several years.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Carl Davis White; five sisters, Hallie Man, Callie Adams, Edna White, Ruby Collins and Willie Mae Ritchie; and four brothers, Carl Lathrem, Frank Lathrem, Jr., Luther Lathrem, Arthur Lathrem.
Funeral services were held Wednesday May 21, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Stephen Aschmann officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
MARGARET YANCEY
Margaret Ruby Yancey, 84, of Ashwood Place in Frankfort, died Friday, May 16, 2003 at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
A native of Mackville, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Dora Lou Gabhart Shewmaker. She was the widow of Russell Yancey.
She was a bookkeeper for Harrodsburg Candy and Tobacco and was a member of the Capital City Christian Church.
Survivors include: two daughters, Ruth Mayes, Frankfort, and Rosemary Horton, Mt. Sterling.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 19 at Capital City Christian Church with Rev. Jon Sutphin officiating. Burial was in Peter Cemetery, Mackville.
Pallbearers were Bobby Hall, Ron Hack, Jacob Hack, Jared Hack, Thomas Amburgey, Chelsea Amburgey and Norman Darland. Honorary bearers were S. T. Smither, Al Perry, Frank Haynes, Tom Scott, Bobby Henson, Quarles Arnold, David Campbell, Lloyd Thompson and Bob Gilbert.

WILLIAM ALEXANDER
William Thomas “Tom” Alexander, 76, of Peach Drive, Lawrenceburg, died Sunday, May 25, 2003 at the Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center in Frankfort.
Born June 26, 1926 in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Elbert Smith and Bessie Susan Bell Alexander. He was the widower of Evelyn Abel Alexander.
He was retired from the City of Shively where he was head of sanitation for many years.
He was a member of the Sand Spring Baptist Church and was active in the Anderson County Senior Citizens.
Survivors include: one sister, Frances Casey; one brother, J. B. Alexander, both of Lawrenceburg; two nephews, Jimmy Earlywine, Lawrenceburg, and Condit Earlywine, LaGrange; one niece, Barbara Sheffield, Glasgow; two great-nephews, Travis Beasley, Harrodsburg, and Rusty Waldridge, Lawrenceburg, and one great-niece, Amy Waldridge, Chaplin.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 27, at the Ritchie and Peach Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Hockersmith officiating. Burial was in Hebron Cemetery in Anderson County.

DONALD BROWN
Donald Robert Brown, 78, of 106 Gibson Street, Perryville, died Thursday, May 15 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born August 18, 1924 in West Pittston, PA, he was a son of the late Charles E. and Lula Bell Sickler Brown.
He retired from American Greeting Card where he was in engineering. He was a member of the Perryville Christian Church and a graduate of Balden-Wallace College where he earned a degree in industrial engineering.
He was an army veteran of World War II and a member of Battlefield Post #301, American Legion, and a 50 year Mason.
Survivors include: his wife, Margaret Wills Brown, Perryville, formerly of Mercer County; two daughters, Vera Banks, Wilmore and Ione Freedman, OH; one stepson, Lawrence Lovely, MO; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 19, at the Wilder Funeral Home in Perryville. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Perryville.
Pallbearers were Lester Smith, Jason Banks, Joshua Banks, Bobby Drane and Eddie Wills.
