C.L. Thomas Sr.

SACRAMENTO - C.L. Thomas Sr., 68, died Thursday, May 26, 2005 at Owensboro Medical Health System.
Born in Muhlenberg County June 10, 1936, he was the son of Reme Thomas and Susie Mae Kinley Thomas. He was the mayor of Sacramento, a member of the A.M.E. Methodist Church and a veteran of the United States Marines.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Helm Thomas; a daughter, Shawna Thomas of Sacramento; five sons, Jimmy Young of Columbia, Tenn., Mike Young of Murray, Ky., Troy Thomas and Randy Thomas, both of Sacramento and C.L. Thomas Jr. of Owensboro; 16 grandchildren; two great - grandchildren .
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. May 30 at Sacramento Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Butler and the Rev. John Lovelace assisting. Burial followed in Sacramento Methodist Cemetery. Tucker Memorial Chapel in Sacramento was in charge of the arrangements.

Faye Blankenship

Faye Blankenship, 93, died Saturday, May 28, 2005 at Belle Meade Nursing Home in Greenville.
Born in Muhlenberg County March 31, 1912, she was a retired ward clerk at Muhlenberg Community Hospital and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Blankenship and a son, Bobby Blankenship.
Survivors include three sons, Billy Blankenship of Central City, James Dale Blankenship of Beaver Dam and Tommy Blankenship of Simpsonville; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great - grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Norder of El Cajon, CA.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. May 30 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. J.W. Haire officiating. Burial followed in the Fairmount Cemetery.

Charles Clayton Harvey

SOUTH CARROLLTON – Charles Clayton Harvey, 56, died Friday, May 27, 2005 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Born in Muhlenberg County Nov. 5, 1948, he was an Electronics Technican for 34 years with Bell South, member of the Central Masonic Lodge, and a member at 1st Christian Church in Central City. Mr. Harvey served as Mayor of South Carrollton for eighteen years and was a member of the South Carrollton City Council. He was preceded in death by his father, Ed Harvey.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lynn Harvey of South Carrollton; one son, Will Harvey of South Carrollton, one daughter, Andrea Harvey (Patrick) Zimmerman of Murray; one grandchild; mother, Dorothy Harvey of Central City; one brother, Ed Harvey of San Antonio, TX; and one sister, Helen Harvey of Central City.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. May 31 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Jeff DeMatties officiating and assisted by the Rev. C.W. Duncan. Burial was in the Pine Grove Cemetery in South Carrollton. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Central City First Methodist Church Memorial Fund.

Cora Jones

GREENVILLE – Cora Jones, 88, died Friday, May 27, 2005 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Born in Muhlenberg County Jan. 15, 1917, she was a homemaker and a member of the Greenville Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include five daughters, Mary Elizabeth Lear, Clara Mae Crick and Shelia Webster all of Greenville, Martha Smith of Taylorsville and Alice Faye Crick of Bremen; fourteen grandchildren; twenty - nine great - grandchildren and 8 great - great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. May 30 at the Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Steve Hibbs officiating. Burial followed in the Wilcox Cemetery in Powderly.

June Dunning

June Dunning, 78, died Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at Owensboro Medical Health System.
Born in Muhlenberg County, June 13, 1929, she was a retired nurse’s aid and a member of First Baptist Church in Central City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; a son, Tommy and a step daughter, Charlotte.
Survivors include a daughter, Sherlyn (Jim) Clark of Livermore; a step daughter, Ann McPherson of Greenville; a half brother, Richard Gunn of Louisville; two half sisters, Laquita Arvin of Central City and Shelia Woodcock of Indianapolis; 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. May 27 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Lowery officiating. Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Earl Millard Brown

SOUTH CARROLLTON – Earl Millard Brown, 83, died Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at his residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County, March 21, 1923, he was a WWII veteran, a retired coal miner and member of Cherry Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Hallie W. Brown; two sons, Earl W. Brown and Charles W. Brown, both of South Carrollton; a sister, Bernadine Steele of Central City; two step grandchildren and two step great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. May 26 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Lowery officiating. Burial followed at Cherry Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Charles L. Gregory

Charles L. Gregory, 83, died Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at Sparks’ Nursing Home in Central City.
Born in Illinois, Sept. 2, 1922, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired conductor of the Illinois Central Railroad. He was a member of South Carrollton Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for several years.
Survivors include his wife, Eula Montgomery Gregory; three sons, Charles E. “Chuck” Gregory of South Carrollton, David L. Gregory of Harrisburg, Ill. and Richard G. Gregory of Bremen; a sister, Jackie Fredericks of Louisville; seven grandchildren; four great - grandchildren and one step great - grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. May 27 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Brooks and the Rev. Mike Neal officiating. Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Ola Mae McGowen

ROCHESTER – Ola Mae McGowen, 80, died Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Oct. 10, 1925, she was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a brother, James Harper of Ind. and three sisters, Tyldesley Buchanan of Rochester, Elizabeth Gibson of Mt. Washington, Ky. and Jean Tyree of Ala.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. May 27 at Tucker Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Higginbotham officiating. Burial followed at Fairmount Cemetery in Central City.

Gertrude Penrod

GREENVILLE – Gertrude Penrod, 89, died Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at her residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County, May 11, 1917, she was a homemaker and a member of Leigh’s Chapel General Baptist Church in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Melvin “Mutt” Penrod.
Survivors include a son, Donnie (Sandra) Penrod of Greenville; seven daughters, Charlene Penrod (Tommy) Mallory and Kathy King, both of Belton, Linda (Dawson) Smith of Lewisburg, Faye (Edgar) Farmer of Russellville, Ann (Danny) Putnam of Greenville and Diana “Tiny” (Lician) Grayson and Pam (Billy) Buchanan, both of Beech Creek; a sister, Mae Bivins of Henderson; 17 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. May 28 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Rev. George Thompson and the Rev. Tom Carroll officiating. Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Tracy Carrol Jackson

RUSSELLVILLE – Tracy Carrol Jackson, 37, died Monday, May 22, 2006 in Auburn, Ky.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Sept. 5, 1968, he was a laborer for Cates Construction.
Survivors include three sons, Brent Page of Greenville, Joshua Jackson of Russellville and Jacob Jackson of Lewisburg; his mother, Ovada Brooks Richmond of Russellville; his father, James C. Jackson of Hessville, Ind.; his step - father, Dennis Richmond of Russellville; two grandmothers, Nina Arndell of Russellville and Mildred Jackson of Hessville, Ind.; a brother, Christopher Richmond of Russellville; a step - sister, Amanda Richmond of Lewisburg and a grandson, Austin Jackson of Russellville.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. May 25 at Price Funeral Home in Lewisburg with Bro. David Gray officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Central City.

Agnes Almarine Johnson

LEITCHFIELD – Agnes Almarine Johnson, 88, died Thursday, May 25, 2006 at her residence.
Born in Butler Co., Dec. 14, 1917, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Elsie Lawrence, Martha Woosley and Gertie Woosley and a great grandson, Oliver Winn.
Survivors include a daughter, Wilma Lee of Leitchfield; two granddaughters, Sherry Winn of Greenville and Sheila Steen of Tampa, Fla.; a grandson, Chris Lee of Leitchfield and four great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. May 27 at Watkins - Oller Funeral Home in Leitchfield with Bro. Joseph Cooper officiating. Burial followed at Layman Cemetery in Millwood, Ky.

Glendora Hortense Wright

POWDERLY – Glendora Hortense Wright, 77, died Thursday, May 25, 2006 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Nov. 9, 1928, she was a disabled hospital worker and a member of New Cypress Baptist Church in Greenville. She was a member of the U.S. Army from Sept. 1952 to Jan. 1953 and was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer “Jack” and Grace Evitts Wright.
Survivors include a daughter, Connie Ray of Cincinnatti; three brothers, Elmer Wright of Coshocton, Ohio, Clyde Wright of Goodlettsville, Tenn. and Veachel Wright of Woodbury, Ky.; two sisters, Kay Nelson and Helen Wagner, both of Portland, Tenn.; one grandson; four great - grandchildren; nine nephews; two nieces; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. May 29 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Gilman officiating. Burial followed at New Cypress Cemetery in Greenville.

Brenda J. Whitehouse

CHESTERTON, IND. – Brenda J. Whitehouse, 61, formerly of Muhlenberg County, died Monday, May 15, 2006 at her residence.
Born in Nashville, Sept. 8, 1944, she was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband, David Whitehouse, in 2003 and her parents, James Orange and Thelma Brewer Orange.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Council of LaPorte, Ind.; a son, Brian Taylor of Chesterton, Ind.; three brothers, Mitchell Orange of Portage, Ind., Larry Orange of Chesterton and Jeff Orange of Ky. and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. May 20 at White - Love Funeral Home in Chesterton with Pastor Jeff Jones officiating. Burial followed at Angelcrest Cemetery in Valparaiso, Ind.

Jerry Wesley Winters

GREENVILLE – Jerry Wesley Winters, 62, died Monday, May 29, 2006 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County May 8, 1944, he was a retired electrician from IBEW and attended Bryan Baptist Church in Graham.
Survivors include a friend, Shirley McIntosh of Greenville; two sons, Jerry L. Winters of Beechmont and Wesley Brad Winters of Bowling Green; a daughter, Starla Martin of Shelbyville; three brothers, Jackie Winters, Jim Winters and Clarence “Pete” Winters, all of Central City; two sisters, Rose Winters of North Brook, Ill. and Susan Lafon of St. Charles, Ky. and 17 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. May 31 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Winters officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City. Expressions of sympathy can be made to Bryan Baptist Church, 3831 St. Rt. 175, Graham, KY 42344.

Jane Mitchell

OWENSBORO - Jane Mitchell, 70, of Owensboro, died Thursday, May 22, 2003, at Owensboro Mercy Health System.
Born in Muhlenberg County, she was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church and the Kentucky Wesleyan College Panther Express. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon C. Mitchell in 1994.
She is survived by two daughters, Gail Feingold of Pembroke Pines, Fla. and Gina Barnett of Owensboro; five grandchildren, Amber Crisp, Lacey Wagner, Corey Wagner, Lori Feingold and Shaun Feingold; one great - grandchild, Nolan Crisp; one brother, Odell Nelson of Greenville; and one sister, Henrietta Eubanks of Greenville.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 24, at Bellevue Baptist Church. Burial followed in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. James H. Davis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Forward In Faith Building Fund, Bellevue Baptist Church, 507 W. Byers Ave., Owensboro, KY 42303.

Annie Mae Tabb
SHARON GROVE, KY - Annie Mae Tabb, 85, of Sharon Grove, died Monday, May 19, of natural causes at Logan Memorial Hospital in Russellville.
Born April 19, 1918 in Todd County, the daughter of the late Ishmael Harrison Tabb and Minnie Gertrude Brigance Tabb, she was retired from General Electric after 30 years of service. She was a member of Mt. Vernon General Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Sylvester Tabb and Ernest Coy Tabb.
She is survived by two brothers, Roy Tabb of Toledo, Ohio and Marvin Tabb of Sanford, Fla.; six sisters, Viola Wilson of Lexington, Ruthell Powell of Russellville, Margie Grisham, Amy Odell White, Estelle Johnson and Lula Faye Crawford, all of Sharon Grove.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 22, at Latham Funeral Home with the Rev. Barry Noe officiating. Burial followed in Gants Cemetery.
