Lillian Frances Warner

WHITE PLAINS ­ Lillian Frances Warner, 91, died Thursday, March 3, 2005 in the Muhlenberg Community Hospital emergency room of a sudden illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County Nov. 27, 1913, the daughter of the late David Groves and Patsy Groves, she was a homemaker and a housewife and of the holiness faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Warner.
Survivors include three sons, Dean Groves of Henderson, Hubert Groves and Donnie Groves, both of White Plains; two daughters, Mary Householder of Reed, Ky. and Betty Groves of White Plains; three sisters, Pline Cobb of White Plains, Mary Rolley and Jane Stanley, both of Graham; a brother, Jim Tom Groves of Graham; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. March 6 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Browning officiating. Burial followed in Fulkerson Cemetery in Depoy.

Dorothy Louise Davis

GRAHAM ­ Dorothy Louise Davis, 78, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2005 in the Muhlenberg Community Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County Aug. 26, 1926, the daughter of the late William Girt Lynn and Viola Yates Lynn, she was a homemaker and member of Corley Chapel Baptist Church in Graham. She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Davis in 1979 and a brother, Gordon Lynn in 1996.
Survivors include a son, Harold Wayne (Mary) Broyles of Graham; two daughters, Brenda (David) Daniel and Johnetta Hope, all of Greenville; a sister, Helen Moore of White Plains; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. March 3 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Ellis Payne officiating. Burial followed in Corley Chapel Cemetery in Graham.

Irvin Dee Jarvis

GREENVILLE ­ Irvin Dee Jarvis, 75, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Midland Sept. 23, 1929, the son of the late John S. Jarvis and Audrey Boggess Jarvis, he graduated from Bremen High School in 1947. He worked in the parts department at Henry-Cisney Chevrolet for over 35 years and the parts department at Parham-Mansfield the last few years. He was an active deacon at Luzerne General Baptist Church where he also served as Sunday school teacher of the Faith Sunday school class. He was also choir director for over 35 years and sang in the Green River Quartet in 1955 and was a current member of the Muhlenberg Blue Grass Band, playing mandolin.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Carlene McDonald Jarvis; a daughter, Beth (Tim) Pogue of Greenville; a brother, Waymon (Willow) Jarvis of Bremen; a granddaughter, Michelle Pogue of Greenville and two nieces, Jeannie (Bill) Bullock and Lynn Gunn, all of Bremen.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. March 4 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Roger Wright and the Rev. Walter Evitts officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Depoy.

Ione Mable Grace Hill

GREENVILLE ­ Ione Mable Grace Hill, 87, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2005 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born in Christian County May 10, 1917, the daughter of the late Arthur Van Grace and Lily Mae Wagner Grace, she was a food service worker at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital for 17 years. She was a member of Roland Memorial Baptist Church and attended Kirkmansville and Gum Grove schools. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willoughby Perry Hill in 1998.
Survivors include a son, Perry Forrest (Carolyn) Hill of Central City; two daughters, Sharron (Paul) Jessup and Beverly (Eddie) Underwood, all of Greenville; four grandchildren, Mindy Jessup (Hal) Hedley of Louisville, Stanley Wayne Hill of Central City, Troy Underwood of Los Angeles, Calif. and Nicholas Underwood of Elizabethtown and two great-grandchildren, Courtney Kolarik and Kerry Kolarik.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. March 3 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Mooneyham and the Rev. James Doyel officiating. Burial followed in the Lone Star Cemetery in Weir.

Louise Hardin

Louise Hardin, 81, died Thursday, March 3, 2005 at her residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County Jan. 20, 1924, she was a housewife and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, James Hardin.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. March 5 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Curtis McGehee officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Lilith Simpson Anderson

GREENVILLE ­ Lilith Simpson Anderson, 93, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Christian County May 3, 1911, the daughter of the late James Harrison Simpson and Eleanore Ross Davis Simpson, she was a retired federal employee at Fort Benjamin Harrison near Indianapolis, Ind. She was a member of the Greenville United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Flohr and second husband, Fred Anderson.
Survivors include a sister, Vola Simpson of Greenville; two sisters-in-law, Frances Simpson of Greenville and Sue Simpson of Louisville; three nieces and three nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. March 4 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Vernon Perdue and the Rev. Phil Farnsley officiating. Burial followed in the Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus, Ind. March 7.

Jamie Pedro Moreno

CENTRAL CITY ­ Jamie Pedro Moreno, 26, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C.
Born in Nashville June 27, 1978, he was a security guard with Action Security Company.
Survivors include a daughter, Tara Moreno of Central City; his mother, Suequitta Balliet of Central City; his father, Pedro Moreno of Miami; a brother, Victor Gonzales of Hileah, Fla.; five sisters, Kari Daniel, Barby Morris and Cassy Ghaffari, all of Central City and Nehemia Moreno and Maria Moreno, both of Miami; a grandmother, Eva Woods of Murray and a grandfather, Robert Woods of Marietta, Ga.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. March 7 at Tucker Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Shemwell officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Sue Mohon Mathews Parker

DALLAS, TEXAS ­ Sue Mohon Mathews Parker, 83, formerly of Beech Creek, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at her residence.
Born in California Aug. 25, 1921, she was the daughter of the late L.A. and Lola Ann Mohon, she was a member of Park Cities Baptist Church and was retired from Campbell Stationers. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Fleming B. Mathews in 1971 and her second husband, Mercer H. Parker in 1998.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Ann Baker, Pam Stammer and Julie Herrick; a son, Berry Mathews; two step-children, Janice Parker and Terry Parker; a sister, Evelyn Starnes; a brother, Max Mohon; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 9:30 a.m. March 4 at Restland Memorial Park, followed by a memorial service at 10 a.m. at Restland Memorial Chapel with the Rev. LeRoy Summers officiating.

Hilda Lucille Hope

DRAKESBORO ­ Hilda Lucille Hope, 80, died Thursday, March 3, 2005 at her residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County July 11, 1924, the daughter of the late Son Lyons and Bennie Elizabeth Mercer Bartlett, she was a homemaker and a member of Browder General Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Hope in 2000.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Shrull of Russellville and Charlotte Williamson of Cadiz; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. March 6 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Greene officiating. Burial followed in Ebenezer Cemetery.

Amanda Wynn Barger

HARRISBURG, ILL. ­ Amanda Wynn Barger, 44, died Thursday, March 3, 2005 at Deaconness Hospital in Evansville.
Born in DeKalb, Ill. March 23, 1960, she was self-employed at Bargers’ This and That.
Survivors include her husband, Claud Barger; two daughters, Amber Griggs Rojas and Melissa Griggs of Harrisburg; a stepson, Chad Gibbs of Harrisburg; three brothers, Jimmy Wynn of Greenville, Harvey Lear of Charleston, Ky. and Leon Thompson of Morgantown; three sisters, Anna Dunlap of Central City, Lottie Turley of Greenville and Rena Johnson of Salem, Ind. and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. March 6 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Clapp officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Agnes E. Lewis

BREMEN ­ Agnes E. Lewis, 90, died Friday, March 4, 2005 at Deaconness Hospice Care Center in Evansville.
Born in Muhlenberg County Oct. 16, 1914, she was a member of Albright Methodist Church in Evansville and a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Walter Lewis of Atlanta, Ga.; four daughters, Barbara Kemski and Shirley Southwell, both of Evansville, Leesa Clark of Heber Springs, Ark. and Junadele Rasberry of Lewisville, Texas; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. March 7 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Leroy Rearden officiating. Burial followed in Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Bremen.

Bonnie Virginia Brown Drumheller

BREMEN ­ Bonnie Virginia Brown Drumheller, 80, died Sunday, March 6, 2005 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Born in Muhlenberg County Oct. 31, 1924, the daughter of the late Seth and Mollie Brown, she was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by two sons, Roy in 1971 and Paul in 1999; two brothers, Cordell and Goble Brown; a half-brother, Melton Brown; a half-sister, Mable Harper and a granddaughter, Wendy Drumheller.
Survivors include her former husband of 54 years, the Rev. Oscar R. Drumheller; four sons, Bill Drumheller and Hugh Drumheller, both of Gishton, Joe Drumheller of Central City and Raymond Drumheller of Bremen; three daughters, Mary Lee of Oklahoma City, Okla., Vicki Rolley of Bremen and Beverly Wright of Graham; a brother, Earl Brown of Graham; a sister, Dollie Harper of Briar Creek; 11 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. March 8 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Greene officiating. Burial will follow in Gish Cemetery in Bremen.

Bobby Mercer

Bobby Mercer of Chicago, formerly of Morehead, died 01/26/2006 at Lincoln Park Hospital in Chicago, IL. Mr. Mercer was born in Muhlenberg County 02/08/1935 and graduated from Muhlenberg Central High School in 1954 and moved to Chicago July 1956 where he remained and made his home. Mr. Mercer was a musician and retired as a superintendent of the Baking Industry and was a member of Woodson Baptist Church.
He is survived by his spouse; Sheila Mercer, Son; Robert, who also went by “Bobby”, Sisters; Joyce Mercer and Theresa (Charles) Parham Aunt; Bea (Vernie) Carter, Several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by Parents; Collins & Dene Mercer, Brother; Johnny Mercer, and Sister; Ellen Mercer.
Funeral services were held Monday January 30, 2006 at Tucker Funeral Home. Officiated by Rev. John Culbertson.

John Edward Lile

John Edward Lile, 67, died Thursday, March 2, 2006, at Owensboro Medical Health System.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Sept. 30, 1938, he was a former Marine, retired from Island Creek Coal Co. after 30 years and a six-time Central City Country Club Golf Champion. He was of the Baptist faith and preceded in death by his parents, Granville and Velma Lile; a sister, Patty Travis and two nephews, John and Brad Toll.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Lile; two sons, Anthony G. “Tony” (Betty) Lile of Hartford and Barry R. “Rusty” Lile of Central City; three grandchildren, Anthony G. Lile, Jr., Johnathan W. Lile and Nicholas Lile; two brothers, Bobby Lile and Phillip “Toppy” (Carolyn) Lile, both of Central City; two sisters, Jeanette (Jackie) Williams of Central City and Evelyn (Bill) Lovell of Livermore.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. March 5 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Jewell Martin officiating. Burial followed in Forest Grove Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy can be made in form of donations to the Green River Chapel Building Fund.

Lois Marie McCauley Dockins

GREENVILLE – Lois Marie McCauley Dockins, 87, died Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, July 27, 1918, she was the daughter of John William McCauley and Verda Jane Hankins McCauley. She was a member of Greenville United Methodist Church and served the Lord faithfully for many years in various church positions, including Sunday School Superintendent. Her service to the community is evident in her role in the founding of the Muhlenberg County Opportunity Center where she served as a board member for many years. Her time was donated to the community in service as a Gray Lady Volunteer at Muhlenberg Community Hospital for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, George Estil Dockins and a daughter, George Ann Dockins.
Survivors include a son, Tom (Brenda) Dockins of Lake Malone; two daughters, Jane (Virgil) McPherson of Owensboro and Karen Estelle Dockins of Greenville; two sisters, Katherine Tomes of Princeton, Ill. and Jimmie Knight of Greenville; eight grandchildren, Cindy (John) Skirvin of Madison, Ind., Cassandra (Brock) Jensen and Cathie (Gary) Wilkin, both of Minneapolis, Minn., Christopher (Heather) Dockins of New Venina, Ohio, Kimberly (Ronnie) Marie Dunn, Mike (Debbie) McPherson and Kristy (Todd) Brackin, all of Owensboro and Kandi (Freddie) Stephens of Hawesville; 23 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. March 5 at the Greenville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Vernon Perdue officiating. Burial followed in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Greenville. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made in the form of donations to the Muhlenberg County Opportunity Center. Gary’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Evilee DeArmond “Tete” Briles

GRAHAM – Evilee DeArmond “Tete” Briles, 82, died Thursday, March 2, 2006 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Aug. 7, 1923, she was a retired cook after 20 years at Graham School and a member of Corley Chapel Baptist Church. Daughter of the late Isaac DeArmond and Charlene Chandler DeArmond, she was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Wilbert Briles.
Survivors include a son, Darrel (Paula) Briles of Greenville; two daughters, Sarah Briles and Lisa O’Bannon, both of Graham; a brother, Melvin (Maxine) DeArmond of Greenville; two sisters, Ruthie Knight of Hopkinsville and Pat (Joe) Pruitt of Greenville; six grandchildren, Ashley (Mark) Briles Nixon of Greenville, Megan O’Bannon, Jeremiah O’Bannon, Brooklyn O’Bannon, Melanie O’Bannon and Blake Parker, all of Graham and a great-grandchild, Kaylee Alexis Nixon of Greenville.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. March 4 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Barry Noe and the Rev. Terry Chaney officiating. Burial followed in Corley Chapel Cemetery in Graham.
