Greenville - Mr. H. Ray Davis, 69, of Greenville died Thursday, May 16, 2002 at Maple Manor Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Greenville.
Mr. Davis was born in Muhlenberg County on November 28, 1932. He was a retired strip miner and car salesman.
Survivors include his wife, Jane “Mayes” Davis of Greenville; two sons, Anthony “Tony” Davis of Lewisburg and Jonathan M. Davis of Greenville; four grandchildren, Mark Davis, Andrew Kunkel, Brittany Davis and Justin Davis; two great-grandchildren, Trent Davis and Logan Davis; three brothers, J.W. Davis of Greenville, Alfred Davis of Penrod and Paul Davis of Greenville; and one sister, Rosa Lee Robinson of Greenville.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 18, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Reverend Mike Neal officiating and Dr. Ray England assisting. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville

Pauline Edna Smith
Belton - Ms. Pauline Edna Smith, 87, of Belton died Sunday, May 12, 2002 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Ms. Smith was born in Muhlenberg County on March 12, 1915. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Edna E. Dwyer of Evansville and Norma Drufke of Belton; 11 grandchildren; and several great and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home in Beechmont with Reverend Gene McGehee officiating. There will also be funeral services held Thursday, May 16, 2002 at 1 p.m. at Miller and Miller Funeral Home in Evansville. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery in Evansville, Indiana.

Flossie Jones Ramsey
Greenville - Mrs. Flossie Jones Ramsey, 95, of Greenville died Monday, May 6, 2002 in the Belle Meade Nursing Home in Greenville after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Ramsey was born in Muhlenberg County on October 10, 1906. She was preceded in death by her husband, E.L. Ramsey in 1985.
Survivors include one daughter, Wanda Vincent Spain of Evansville; one son, Billy Ramsey of Central City; five grandchildren, Leslie Brown of South Carrollton, Reggie Ramsey of Rochester, Mike Vincentof Mt. Booneville, Indiana, David Vincent of Booneville, Indiana and Dennis Vincent of Mt. Vernon, Indiana; 11 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 9, 2002 at Gary’s Funeral Home with Reverend Vernon Perdue officiating. Burial followed in the Woodland Cemetery in Greenville.

Norma Faye Stone
Allegre - Mrs. Norma Faye Stone, 61, of Allegre died Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at her residence after a brief illness.
Mrs. Stone was born in Hopkins County on November 16, 1940 to the late Bert and Mattie Fisher Babb. She was a retired Personnel Management Specialist for the State of Kentucky at Western State Hospital in Hopkinsville. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Greenville where she served as an Elder. She was also a member of the Allegre Homemakers, and the Christian Women’s Fellowship of the First Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband, John J. Stone of Allegre; one daughter, Kristi Thomas of Sharon Grove; one brother, Wesley Babb of Dawson Springs; three sisters, Wanda McKinney of Madison, TN, Ruby Simpson of Evansville and Jane Hale of Mooreland, IN; one grandson, Nicholas Thomas of Sharon Grove; and one son-in-law, Randy Thomas of Sharon Grove.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 11, 2002 at Latham Funeral Home in Elkton with Reverend George Thompson, Reverend Tommy Wilhite and Brother George Hale officiating. Burial followed in the Francis Cemetery.

Bobby J. Noffsinger
Greenville - Mr. Bobby J. Noffsinger, 66, of Greenville died Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at Owensboro Mercy Health System in Owensboro.
Mr. Noffsinger was born in Muhlenberg County on January 24, 1936. He was a retired coal miner from Peabody River Queen Mines. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Greenville, a graduate of Bremen High School in 1954 and served in the USAF from January 1955 to June 1963. He was preceded in death by his father, Connice V. Noffsinger in 1970; his mother, Nell Forgy in 1989; one brother, Wayne Noffsinger in 1993; and one sister, Sharon Dukes in 1998.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Dianne Noffsinger of Greenville; one son, Victor Noffsinger of Greenville and daughter-in-law, Tracy Noffsinger; one daughter, Valerie Noffsinger of Elizabethtown; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 11, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Reverend Richard Summers officiating and Reverend C.W. Duncan assisting. Burial followed in the Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville.

O. Derald Dukes
Rosewood - Mr. O. Derald Dukes, 77, of Rosewood died Thursday, May 9, 2002 at his home in the Rosewood Community following several months of illness.
Mr. Dukes was born in Muhlenberg County on April 1, 1925. He retired from the Blaw-Knox Steel Company in East Chicago, Illinois as an Open Hearth Operator. He was a member of the Willow Glen Church of Christ and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Nona Dukes; one brother, Durwood Dukes; one sister, Geneva Lyons; and one great-granddaughter, Kara Beth Swanson.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Tillie Dukes of Greenville; one daughter, Marsha (Don) Swanson of Lumberton, Texas; one son, Roger (Ann) Dukes of Greenville; two grandsons; two granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 13, 2002 at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville with Mr. James Fox officiating and Mr. Don Swanson assisting. Burial followed in the Cherry Grove Cemetery in Weir.
In lieu of flower, family request contributions be made to Green River Hospice.

J.R. Long
Elliott - Mr. J.R. Long, 80, of Elliott died Monday, April 29, 2002 at his home.
Mr. Long was born in Todd County on May 17, 1927 to
Elijah and Amanda Chandler Long. He was raised in Muhlenberg County and farmed with his brother, Woodson Long, which is deceased, in the 1950’s. He married Essie Harris on June 17, 1950, in Allegre. Mr. Long farmed all of his life and worked at various grain elevators until his retirement. He was also an active member of First Baptist Church in Gibson City and enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Essie Harris Long of Elliott; two sons, Paul Ray Long of Gifford and Randy Long of Gibson City; one daughter, Linda Holsclaw of Elliott; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 2, 2002 at Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City with Reverend Bill Denny officiating. Burial followed in Elliott Cemetery.

Gilmer A. Ray
Poplar Grove - Mr. Gilmer A. Ray, 94, of Poplar Grove died Thursday, May 9, 2002 at the Owensboro Mercy Health Systems in Owensboro.
Mr. Ray was born in Sacramento, was a retired farmer and attended the Pack Baptist Church in McLean County. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and was a recipient of three Bronze Stars. He was alsoa member of the McLean County Senior Citizens. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mae McElwain Ray, June 17, 1995; his first wife, Ible McElwain Ray; and by a son.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Linda Ray and Darrel Lewis Johnson of Sacramento; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Michael and Stephanie Garrett Johnson; one granddaughter, Melanie Johnson of Sacramento; and several nieces andnephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 11, 2002 at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial followed in Poplar Grove Cemetery in McLean County with Military Honors conducted by the 101st Airborne Division.

Dorris Wayne Brown
Graham - Mr. Dorris Wayne Brown, 56, of Graham died Thursday, May 9, 2002 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Mr. Brown was born in Muhlenberg County on October 23, 1945.
Survivors include his mother, Delia Brown of Graham; one half-sister, Barbara Crabtree of Greenville; and one brother, Ronnie Brown of Graham.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 11, 2002 at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville with Reverend T.H. Davis officiating. Burial followed in the Corley Chapel Cemetery in Graham.

Rodney Chinn
Greenville - Mr. Rodney Chinn, 86, of Greenville died Thursday, May 9, 2002 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Mr. Chinn was born in Ohio County on August 15, 1915. He was a construction worker at Local 1392 in Owensboro. He was a member of Martwick Baptist Church and Eastern Star Grace Chapter 30 in Ohio County.
Survivors include one son, Robert Chinn of Melrose Park, Illinios; one daughter, Irma Goff of Graham; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 12, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial followed in Hopewell Cemetery in Ohio County “Mary”.
Huntsville - Mr. Robert Guy Drake, 78, died Thursday, May 9, 2002 at Belle Meade Nursing Home in Greenville.
Mr. Drake was a Butler County native to the son of the late Elwood and Belle Brown Drake. He was a member of New Midway Baptist Church. He was retired from T.V.A.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Vaughn Drake of Huntsville; one son, Rickie D. Drake of Huntsville; two daughters, Rita Franklin of Bowling Green and Deloris Mohon of Greenville; son-in-law, Fred; five grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; two brothers, G.W. Drake of Florida and Willie “Buck” Drake of Huntsville; two sisters, Virginia Hartis and Jewel Harrison both of Bowling Green; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 11, 2002 at Jones Funeral Chapel with Reverend Shane Garrett officiating. Burial followed in the Rochester Cemetery.

Nolen Davis
Browder - Mr. Nolen Davis, 94, of Browder died Saturday, May 11, 2002 at Belle Meade Nursing Center in Greenville.
Mr. Davis was born in Logan County on June 29, 1907. He was a farmer and a member of Riverside Baptist Church and Layman Minister.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Edra Morphew Davis of Browder; two sons, John Davis of Evansville and William Davis of Central City; three daughters, Virginia Shelton of Owensboro, Rose London of Madisonville and Jean Turner of Ennis; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and 15 step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Reverend Gene McGehee officiating. Burial followed in Mud River Union Cemetery.

Ruby Riley
Owensboro - Ms. Ruby Riley, 71, of Owensboro died Monday, April 29, 2002 at Owensboro Mercy Health System in Owensboro.
Ms. Riley was born in Muhlenberg County on February 11, 1931. She was retired from G.E. in Owensboro and was a member of Old Bethel Church in Muhlenberg County.
Survivors include one sister, Dorothy Sullivan of Alton, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 9, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Reverend Leroy Rearden officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Hazel Wells
Grenville - Mr. Hazel Wells, 84, of Greenville died Monday, April 29, 2002 at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville after a brief illness.
Mr. Wells was born in Muhlenberg County on May 23, 1917. He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include one sister, Eula Wells of Greenville; and one brother, Theadore Wells of Greenville.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 2, 2002 at Gary’s Funeral Home INC. with Reverend Walter Evitts officiating. Burial followed in Olive Grove Cemetery in Greenville.

Darrell Keith Lee
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma - Mr. Darrell Keith Lee, 51, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma died Saturday, April 27, 2002 at the V.A. Hospital in Oklahoma City following several days of illness.
Mr. Lee was born in Muhlenberg County on August 25, 1950 and he retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service.
Survivors include his former wife, Mary (Sue) Drumheller Lee of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two daughters, Angela Lee and Michelle Lee both of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Betty Snyder of Greenville and Helen White of Searchlight, Nevada; one brother, Cecil Lee of Hopkinsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Friday, May 3, 2002 at Friendship Cemetery with Chaplin Charles Popov officiating. Burial followed in the Friendship Cemetery in Greenville.
Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville was in charge of all arrangements.

Jeremiah Milton Johnson
Belton - Jeremiah Milton Johnson, 14 months old, died Sunday, April 28, 2002 at Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville.
Jeremiah was born in Springfield, Tennessee on February 15, 2001.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Terri Johnson of Belton; his father, Mr. Barry Johnson of Belton; three sisters, Monica Browning of Central City, Cala Browning of Belton and Sierra Johnson of Belton; one brother, Samuel Johnson of Belton; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Elaine Hudson of Belton; maternal grandfather, Mr. Milton Hudson of Belton; and paternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Willyne Dorris of Russellville.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 1, 2002 at Price Funeral Home in Lewisburg with Reverend Mike Foster officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Lewisburg.
A memorial fund is set up at the Lewisburg Banking Company.

Arthur W. Mead
Lewisburg - Mr. Arthur W. Mead, 75, of Lewisburg died Tuesday, April 30, 2002 at St. Thomas Hospital.
Mr. Mead was born in Davenport, Kentucky on December 19, 1926. He was retired from the Elkton Post Office as a Mail Carrier and Project Manager of a Construction Company. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II and was also a member of Rosewood United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Mead and his mother, Dorothy Ellen Mead Lory.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Barbara Ann Mead of Lewisburg; two sons, Mr. William Mead of Lewisburg and Mr. Michael Mead of Winchester, VA.; one daughter, Mrs. Pamela Miller of Auburn, In; three step-sons, Mr. William Lohse of Madisonville, Mr. James Lohse of Roseville, NJ. and Mr. Patrick Lohse of Bordentown, NJ; one step-daughter, Mrs. Susan Hillicoss of Greenville, SC; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 4, 2002 at Price Funeral Home in Lewisburg with Reverend Ken Vincent and Reverend William Hudspeth officiating. Burial followed in Lewisburg Cemetery in Lewisburg.

Timothy Wayne Johnson
Johnson City, Illinois - Mr. Timothy Wayne Johnson, 51, of Johnson City, IL, formerly of Central City died Saturday, May 4, 2002 at his residence.
Mr. Johnson was born in Muhlenberg County on October 31, 1950. He was a coal miner and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Melony “Jan” Johnson of Johnson City, Illinois; one daughter, Synaca Johnson Stiles of Florida; his mother, Georgia Uberta Johnson of Central City; two aunts; and one uncle.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at 1 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home with Reverend Bob Lowery officiating and Reverend W.R. Cook assisting. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.
