Barry Lynn Priest, 49, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004 in Central City.
Born in Hopkins County, Feb. 10, 1954, to the late Warren and Ima Jean Priest, he was employed at Brewco Motor Sports and a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Frieda Vincent Priest; a brother, Jim “Frosty” Priest of Providence; and a niece, Tammy Lossner of Providence.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Jan. 13 at Living Word Outreach Church with the Rev. Enoch Rich officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to Agape Ministries, Box 412, Russellville, KY 42276-0412. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Thelma Louise Edwards
GREENVILLE -­ Thelma Louise Edwards, 61, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004 at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville.
Born in Blytheville, Ark., May 18, 1942, she was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald Edwards of Dawson Springs and Daniel Edwards of Newport, Mich.; four daughters, Pamela Harrison of Owensboro, Vicki Belton of Greenville, Tina Congenie of Chicago, Ill., and Jill Bogusiewicz of Cleaton; a brother, Jimmy Middleton of California; two sisters, Glenda Middleton and Cathy Middleton, both of California; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Private funeral services will be held. Tucker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lillian Martine Rolfes
GREENVILLE ­- Lillian Martine Rolfes, 87, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004 at Maple Manor Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County, March 8, 1917, to the late Clifford and Maggie Wade, she was a member of the First Christian Church and enjoyed playing bridge and scrabble and spending time with family.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Herman Rolfes; three sons, Larry Williams of Jamul, Calif., Randy O’Neil of Anchorage, Alaska, and Timothy O’Neil of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter, Marcia Northum of Santee, Calif.; three brothers, Robert Wade, J.D. Wade and Gordon Wade; a sister, Mildred Giboo; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Jan. 7 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. George Thompson officiating. Burial will take place in Yeargins Chapel Cemetery in Graham. Visitation will be held after 9 a.m., Wednesday at Gary’s Funeral Home.

Henry Lee “Hicky” Shutt
BEECH CREEK -­ Henry Lee “Hicky” Shutt, 87, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005 at Maple Manor Nursing Home.
Born in Muhlenberg County April 29, 1917, he was a retired coal miner of 44 and a half years and a member and past elder of the Beechmont Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sherri Jones.
Survivors include his wife Bertha Lee “Hill” Shutt; two sons, Terry (Ruthie) Shutt of Belton and Bobby Wayne (Regina) Shutt of Calhoun; a daughter, Patricia (Jerry) Jones of Greenville; three grandchildren, Terry (Dana) Shutt, Jr., Eric Jones and Lance Shutt and two great-grandchildren, Brescia Shutt and Jessica Shutt.
Funeral services were held at11 a.m. Jan. 10 at Tucker BeechmontFuneral Home with the Rev. Kirby Duncan and Tim Childs officiating. Burial followed in Mount Moriah Cemetery in Dunmor.

James Walter “Jimmie” Cook
GREENVILLE -­ James Walter Cook, 89, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital after a short illness.
Born in Weir, June 10, 1915 to the lateWalter Lewis Cook and Rosie Ettie Latham Cook, he was a farmer and a logger. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nola Mae Cook.
Survivors include a son, Mike Cook of Ozark, Ill.; a daughter, Ettie Mae Parker of Burns, Tenn. and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 7 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Vernon Perdue officiating. Burial followed in Friendship Cemetery in Greenville.

Terry Coleman Downey
OWENSBORO ­- Terry Coleman Downey, 54, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005 at his residence.
Born in Greenville June 6, 1950 to the late Howard Coleman (H.C.) Downey and Eula Earlene Stovall Downey, he worked for National Linen Service in Owensboro and was a member of Second Baptist Church in Greenville. He graduated from Murray State University with a Bachelor and Master’s degree. He loved to paint and collect artwork.
Survivors include his twin brother, Jerry Downey of Greenville; a sister, Linda Downey (Carl) Dugger of Calhoun and a niece, Beth Downey of Louisville.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Jan. 8, 2005 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Les Snyder and the Rev. Jeff French officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville.

Kelvin Matthew “Cowboy” Parsons
PENROD ­- Kelvin Matthew “Cowboy” Parsons, 33, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005 in Lewisburg.
Born in Indianapolis, Ind. March 14, 1971 to John and Pamella Parsons, he was a construction worker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two sons, Dillon Matthew Parsons and Jonathan Zackery Scott Parsons, both of Belton; a daughter, Victoria Breann Parsons of Belton; his parents, John and Pamella Parsons of Penrod; two brothers, John Wayne Parsons, Jr. of Dundee, Mich. and Larry Michael Parsons of Penrod; his grandmother, Opaline Parsons of Owensboro and two nieces.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Jan. 8 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Rev. Gerold Beliles and the Rev. Jerry Winters officiating. Burial followed in Penrod Baptist Cemetery.

Jewell Cleon McPherson
DUNMOR ­- Jewell Cleon McPherson, 69, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.
Born in Muhlenberg County Jan. 20, 1935 to the late Elmo and Chassie (Driskill) McPherson, he was a farmer and member of Myers Chapel United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur Lewis McPherson and Wendell Hoyt McPherson.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Beverly Arington McPherson; a daughter, Robin (Kerry) Young of Dunmor; three sisters, Vondell McPherson of Dunmor, Ima Gossett and Ludie Bowers, both of Greenville and two grandsons.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Jan. 8 at Myers Chapel United Methodist Church with Bro. Doug Phillips, Bro. Brent Waltrip and Bro. Jerry Winters officiating. Burial followed in McPherson Cemetery in Muhlenberg County. Memorial contributions can be made to the McPherson Cemetery Fund. Price Funeral Home in Lewisburg was in charge of arrangements.

Printis Mayes
DRAKESBORO -­ Printis Mayes, 71, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital
Born in Muhlenberg County Sept. 27, 1933, he was retired from Airways Fire Proofing in Chicago, enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was of the Missionary Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a military police officer.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mary E. Mayes; a son, Michal E. (Patricia) Mayes of Central City; four daughters, Barbara Woodall of Drakesboro, Dian E. (Danny) Epley, Robin (Roger) Knight and Laura (Brad) Wood, all of Central City; two brothers, Tommy Mayes of Central City and Forest Mayes of Alexandria, Va.; two sisters, Sybil Cox of New Albany, Ind. and Lucille White of Chicago; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Jan. 6 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Willard Watson officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Bro. Raymond Hayden Allen
LEWISBURG ­- Bro. Raymond Hayden Allen, 82, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005 at his residence.
Born in Lewisburg Feb. 23, 1922 to the late Charlie and Letha (Smith) Allen, he was a carpenter and minister of First General Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Margaret Elinor Blaine Allen; two daughters, Ramona Saddler of Dunmor and Judy Higgins of Lewisburg; a son, Richard Allen of Lewisburg; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and five step-great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 6 at Price Funeral Home in Lewisburg with Bro. Bob Bullock, Bro. David Youngblood and Bro. Autry Moore officiating. Burial followed in Lewisburg Cemetery in Logan County.

Ruby Nell Jarvis
BREMEN -­ Ruby Nell Jarvis, 79, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born in Midland March 20, 1925, the daughter of the late Rufus McDonald and Mary Elizabeth (Pollie) Barker McDonald, she was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Bremen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Wilson Jarvis and two grandsons, Nickolas Wilson Jarvis and Scott Alan Jarvis.
Survivors include three sons, Donald (Dawn) Jarvis of Shreveport, La., Gary (Susan) Jarvis and Terry (Sheila) Jarvis, both of Bremen; two daughters, Brenda (Mike) Jean of Springville, Ind. and Anna (Dwight) Vincent of Bowling Green; a brother, Tom McDonald of Evansville; a sister, Doris (Harvey) Noffsinger of Troy, Mich.; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 9 at the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Bremen with the Rev. Leroy Rearden and the Rev. J.W. Haire officiating. Burial followed in New Harmony Cemetery in Bremen. Gary’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Roger Kavan Jackson
CENTRAL CITY -­ Roger Kavan Jackson, 85, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Buffalo, New York Sept. 26, 1919, the son of the late Clarence Emit Jackson and Janet Black Jackson, he was retired from Cone Blanchard and Motch and Eichele. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Central City.
Survivors include his wife, Eva Mae Floyd Jackson; a stepson, Brent Lovell of Petersburg, Ind.; two stepdaughters, Donna Morris of Petersburg, Ind. and Ann Tudor of Lexington; a brother, Allen Thomas Jackson of El Monte, Calif.; a sister, Virginia Jackson of Washington and two granddaughters.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Jan. 8 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. C.W. Duncan officiating.

Myrtle “Louise” Jones
EVANSVILLE, IND. ­- Myrtle “Louise” Jones, 86, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005 at Deaconess Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Jones; a son, Gilbert Wayne Jones; a granddaughter and two grandsons.
Survivors include four daughters, JoNelle Koonce, Hilda Reisz, Sue Payton and Dana Jones, all of Evansville; five sons, James C. Jones of Walton, Ind., Donald Jones, Morris Jones, Gerald Jones and Mike Jones, all of Evansville; a sister, Estelle (Tarrants) Nelson of Greenville; 28 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren ; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at noon Jan. 8 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Wright officiating. Burial followed in Old Bethel Cemetery in Greenville.

Anderson Maxberry
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -­ Anderson Maxberry, 76, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004 at his residence.
Born in Belton, April 27, 1928 to the late Samuel Coy and Julia Anderson Maxberry, he was retired from General Motors in Indiana and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Hoyt Avenue Worship Center. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry, Eugene, and Homer and a sister, Annie Morphew.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine T. Maxberry; two daughters, Marilyn McDaniel of Louisville and Sheila Rains of Indianapolis; a son, Dennis Maxberry of Fort M, Fla.; two sisters, Clara Mae Pogue of Browder and JoNell Mayes of Indianapolis; two brothers, Howard Maxberry of Benton and Louis Maxberry of Owensboro; seven grandchildren and10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at noon Jan. 3 at Hoyt Avenue Worship Center with the Rev. David Kitchen officiating. Burial followed in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis. Shirley Brothers Irving Hill Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Elsie Muriel Dockery
CENTRAL CITY -­ Elsie Muriel Dockery, 105, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005 at Sparks Nursing Center.
Born in Shady Grove, Ky. May 16, 1899 she was a homemaker and member of Cleaton Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Brack Dockery; four sons, Leman Dockery, Lenord Dockery, Lawrence Dockery and Leon Dockery; three daughters, Lois Jones, Lola Newman and Loretta Arndell and two grandsons, Larry Dockery and Oshel Jones.
Survivors include two sons, Lendel “Dinkum” Dockery of Bracey, Va. and William “Bob” Dockery of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Sib Walker of Evansville; 19 grandchildren, 39 great-granchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 12 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernest Bean officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery in Central City.

Kathryn Elizabeth Wallace Iler
LOUISVILLE ­- Kathryn Elizabeth Wallace Iler, 99, formerly of Central City, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005 at Jefferson Place in Louisville.
Born in Hancock County, Oct. 9, 1905 to the late Fred and Nora Wallace, she was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Judge Arthur T. Iler, a son, William P. Iler and seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include a son, Richard W. (Clara Louise) Iler of Louisville; three grandchildren, Arthur W. Iler, Samuel H. Iler and Sara Kathryn Meehan; five great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Louise Wallace; several nieces and nephews; and caregivers, Becky and Barry Baggett.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 14 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff DiMatties officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City. Visitation will be from 4 - 7 p.m. Jan. 13 at Tucker Funeral Home.

James Howard Tabb
DRAKESBORO ­- James Howard Tabb, 81, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Nov. 29, 1922, he was a retired coal miner and a member of Riverside Baptist Church and Drakesboro Masonic Lodge. He was a veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Tabb.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Cavanaugh Tabb; a son, Ronnie Tabb of Santa Claus, Ind.; two daughters, Brenda Kay Koffman of Washington, Mo. and Sandra Sue Bruce of Drakesboro; three sisters, Joyce Jarvis of Drakesboro, Mary Lou Key of Central City and Rose Wilson of Dupo, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Jan. 1 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Adcock officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Edgar Marsh
SCOTTSVILLE -­ Edgar Marsh, 81, of Adolphus, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003 at a Scottsville nursing home.
A native of Allen and Muhlenberg counties, the son of the late Leslie K. Marsh and Etta Jewell Pulliam Marsh, he was retired from Crescent Furniture Manufacturer, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of Maple Grove General Baptist Church and a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 120. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Joe Marsh; a daughter, Martha Carolyn Marsh; and two sisters, Nellie Jones and Jewell Gammons.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Brown Marsh; two daughters, Mary Ann Miller and Betty Keen, both of Adolphus; three sons, Earl and Jimmy Marsh, both of Adolphus and Les Marsh of Bowling Green; three brothers, Leonard Marsh of Bowling Green, Charles Marsh of Scottsville and Edward Marsh of Indianapolis; four sisters, Letha Frost of Scottsville, Eurene Kendall of Indianapolis, Mary Witkowski of Buford, Ga. and Mildred Knight of Westmoreland, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; six step grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Dec. 26 at Goad Funeral Home. Burial followed in Dover Baptist Church Cemetery.

James Frederick “Fred” Hunt
DRAKESBORO -­ James Frederick “Fred” Hunt, 47, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, June 19, 1956, he was a welder and of Pentecostal faith. He was preceded in death by his father, Homer Foley Hunt.
Survivors include his mother, Hazel Hunt Knight of Drakesboro; a brother, Ernest Hunt of Drakesboro; a niece; a great-niece; and a great nephew.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Jan. 3 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Curtis McGehee officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.
