GRAHAM - Andrew Chupka, 85, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003 at his residence.
Born in Butler, Penn., May 6, 1918, he worked for Schubert Construction Company in Butler, Penn. for 30 years.He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie May Jennings Chupka in January 2001.
Survivors include two sisters, a brother, two stepdaughters and a stepson.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 4 p.m., Dec. 23 from Graham Hill Cemetery.Gary’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Martha Marie Lacefield
GREENVILLE - Martha Marie Lacefield, 92, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003 in the Maple Manor Healthcare Center after a lengthy illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Feb. 10, 1911, to the late Iba Slayton Parham and Mattie Lou Hammonds Parham, she was a longtime resident of the Weir community.She was preceded in death by her husband, Donnie Lacefield, Sr. in 1979.
Survivors include a son, Donnie Lacefield, Jr. of Greenville; two daughters, Katherine Wright and Judy D. Lacefield, both of Greenville; two sisters, Geneva Rice and Avanell McDonald, both of Greenville; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; one step great great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Dec. 24 at Gary’s Funeral Home with Bob Gardner officiating.Burial followed in Cherry Grove Cemetery in Weir.

Scott Coberly
MECHANICSBURG, PENN. - Scott Coberly, 33, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003 at Hershey Medical Center.
Born in Bowling Green, Feb. 3, 1970, the son of Carolyn Ross Smith and the stepson of the late David O. Smith, he was a resident of the Margaret E. Moul Home in York, Penn.He was the grandson of the late Alfred C. and Estell Ross of Greenville.
Survivors include a stepbrother, Simon Smith of England; a stepsister, Jo Mooreman of England; two aunts, Ellen Ross of Charleston, S.C. and Dorothy Knight of Franklin, Tenn; and two cousins.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Dec. 24 at Zimmerman’s Funeral Home.

Robert “Bobby” Gray, Jr.
SACRAMENTO - Robert “Bobby” Gray, Jr., 49, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003 at his residence.
Born in Warren County, Nov. 22, 1954, he was a truck driver and a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Central City.He was preceded in death by his mother, Verna Gray and a sister, Tina Gray.
Survivors include three sons, Christopher Allen Gray of Central City, Johnathan Gray and Cody Devon Gray, both of Owensboro; a daughter, Jennifer Elaine Gish of Beech Grove, Ky.; his parents, Robert D. Gray Sr. and Dean Gray of Eddyville; and three sisters, Linda Roney of Powderly, Stephanie Barnett and Tawnya Flener, both of Central City.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Dec. 28 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Joe Nannie and the Rev. T.H. Davis officiating.Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Ricky Flener
Ricky Flener, 49, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003 at his residence in Central City.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Sept. 4, 1954, he was a sawmill worker.
Survivors include a daughter, Christie Ann Hayes of Smith Grove, Ky.; four brothers, Robert Flener of Central City, Joe Flener, Wally Flener and Lee Flener, all of Moorman; three sisters, Dorothy Williams of Belton, Faye Neal of Houston, Texas, and Betty Markwell of Bremen; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Dec. 28, 2003 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Taylor officiating.Burial followed in New Hope Cemetery in Moorman.

James Alvie “Granny” Groves
GRAHAM - James Alvie “Granny” Groves, 81, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003 in Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, June 2, 1922, to the late William Thomas Groves and Maggie Mae Hall Groves, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II where he received two Purple Hearts, a member of the UMWA, retired from Peabody Star Coal Mines after 31 years of service and he attended the New Life Church in Powderly.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Margaret Groves; two sons, Jimmy Groves of Elkwood, Va. and Johnny Groves of Graham; two daughters, Judy Pike of Graham and Bonnie Gibson of Greenville; two sisters, Lorene Crick of Greenville and Ida Bell Croft of Indianapolis, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Dec. 27 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Rice, the Rev. Terry Groves and the Rev. Chris Allen officiating.Burial followed in Graham Hill Cemetery in Graham.

Rev. Clarence Bernard Troutman
ALLEGRE - Rev. Clarence Bernard Troutman, 87, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003 at his residence of natural causes.
Born in McLean County, Oct. 9, 1916, to the late Leo and Mary Eaton Troutman, he was a retired minister of 55 years and a member of the Allegre Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sydney Myrl Troutman; two sons, Carroll Troutman and Gayle Troutman, both of Allegre; two daughters, Mary Joyce Strader of Claymour and Ruby Hargrove of Cadiz; a brother, Leo Troutman, Jr. of Greenville; two sisters, Mildred Simpson of Hartford and Minnie Poiles of Livermore; 12 grandchildren; five step grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren and eight step great great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Dec. 30 at Latham Funeral Home in Elkton with the Rev. Larry Cardwell and the Rev. J.R. Craig officiating.Burial followed in the Richland Church Cemetery in Livermore.

Robbie Robison
ANDERSON, S.C. - Gilbert Ardell “Robbie” Robison, Sr., 69, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003 at the Anderson Area Medical Center.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Aug. 28, 1934, to the late Ruby Garnett Robison and Sue Malone Robison, he was retired from Foundry & Steel and was a U.S. Army veteran.He was a member of Gideon’s International, Starr-Iva Camp and the Unity Baptist Church of Starr where he served as a deacon.He was preceded in death by a son, Gilbert A. “Rusty” Robison and four brothers, Charles Kay, Lester, Floyd and Garnett Robison.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Parnell Robison; a daughter, Suzette Robison York of Anderson; two brothers, Kenneth Robison of Greenville and Lloyd Robison of Lake City, Ga.; a sister, Dorothy Stanley of Central City; and four granddaughters.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Dec. 28 in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with the Rev. Lloyd Robison, the Rev. Bill Parnell and the Rev. Ross Kelly officiating.Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson.

Alma Gertrude Leonard
GREENVILLE - Alma Gertrude Leonard, 85, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital after a short illness.
Born in Lecoma, Mo., April 5, 1918, to the late Willis Andrew Leonard and Gertrude Mable Dean Leonard, she was a homemaker and housewife and a member of First Baptist Church in Greenville.
Survivors include her husband of 66 1/2 years, John A. Leonard; a daughter, Sharon Grace of Greenville; a sister, Gladys Welch of Rolla, Mo.; a granddaughter, Lisa Mugford of Weir; a grandson, Scott Mugford of Owensboro; two step granddaughters, Cindy Rutherford of Belton and Melissa Dukes of Nashville, Tenn.; and a niece, Beverly Hayes of Rolla, Mo.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Dec. 30 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary McAbee officiating.Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville.

Mary Sue Uzzle
BIRMINGHAM, ALA. - Mary Sue Uzzle, 89, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003 while visiting her son in Alabama.
Born in Christian County, Sept. 29, 1914, she was a retired Muhlenberg County nurse after 38 years and a member of the Graham Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Uzzle.
Survivors include a son, William (Ellen) Uzzle; two grandchildren, Richard (Melanie) Uzzle and Kevin Uzzle, and a great grandchild, Will Uzzle, all of Birmingham, Ala.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Dec. 30 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Drury officiating.Burial followed in Unity Cemetery near Graham.

Jewel Mae Engler
Jewel Mae Engler, 82, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003 at Maple Manor Health Care in Greenville.
Born in Marion, Ill., April 22, 1921, to the late Bill and Lucy Bartlett, she was a homemaker and a member of Drakesboro Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Engler; a son, Wendell Engler; a brother, Elmo Bartlett; and three sisters, Mildred Bartlett, Lois Cardwell and Virginia Metoyer.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda McGregor of Central City; a step granddaughter; a great-granddaughter; a step great-grandson; and a step great great-granddaughter.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Dec. 29 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Travis Fox officiating.Burial followed in Forest Grove Cemetery in Browder.

Louise Hardison Cox
Louise Hardison Cox, 87, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003.
Born in Muhlenberg County, April 6, 1916, she was a retired LPN at Muhlenberg Community Hospital and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Central City.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Harris of Central City; three brothers, Lucian Hardison of Beechmont, Leslie Hardison of Bremen and Berley Hardison of Knox, Ind.; a grandson; and two great granddaughters, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 30 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernest Beane and the Rev. Michael Hardison officiating.Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Jewel Dean Emerson
POWDERLY - Jewel Dean Emerson, 75, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, July 22, 1928, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby Emerson; a son, Walt Shelton of Murrieta, Calif.; two daughters, Brenda Coker of Orlando, Fla. and Vicky Boothe of Lewisport, Ky.; a brother, Charles D. Brown of Princeton, Ind.; three sisters, Tina Reddick and Jo Nell Snodgrass, both of Evansville and Mary Vaughn of Clarksville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Dec. 31 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Scott Casebier officiating.Burial will follow in Coleman Cemetery.Visitation will be held after 5 p.m., Dec. 30 at Tucker Funeral Home.

Frank Leonard Peterson
GREENVILLE - Frank Leonard Peterson, 81, died Sunday, December 28, 2003 in the Muhlenberg Community Hospital Emergency Room after a sudden illness.
Born in Dent, N.D., March 31, 1922, to the late Frank Peterson and Mildred Ademec Peterson, he retired from the Roto Print Company in 1984 after 40 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra June Long of Crescent City, Ill.; two sons, Frank E. Peterson of Beech Creek and Gary L. Peterson of Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, Elizabeth Playo of Chicago, Ill. and Mary Ann Davis of Justice, Ill.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Dec. 31 at Gary’s Funeral Home with Father Ben Luther officiating.Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Jan. 2 at Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery South Cemetery in Worth, Ill.Visitation will be held after 9 a.m., Dec. 31 at Gary’s Funeral Home.

Wanda Hendrix
MORGANTOWN - Wanda Hendrix, 71, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.
Born in Logan County, Feb. 18, 1933, the daughter of the late Bayliss Sumner and Bessie Whitney Sumner, she was a homemaker and a member of Dunmor Church of Christ.She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Evandy Hendrix; a daughter, Linda Welborn; and a son, Larry Wayne Hendrix.
Survivors include four daughters, Faye Walker of Vandalia, Ill., Gloria Johnson of Sanford, N.C., Jean Beadnell of Penrod and Mary Henderson of Morgantown; a son, Perry Hendrix of Dunmor; three sisters, Rosalee Lyons and Mildred Covington, both of Dunmor, and Margaret Covington of Lewisburg; a brother, Thurman Sumner of Russellville; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Dec. 9 at Price Funeral Home, Inc. in Lewisburg with the Rev. Jeremy Whitney officiating.Burial followed in Wiley’s Chapel Cemetery in Lewisburg.

Kattie Bell Moore
GREENVILLE - Kattie Bell Moore, 85, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, May 15, 1919, she was a homemaker and of Baptist faith.
Survivors include a son, Jimmy Moore of Greenville; two daughters, Virginia Stobaugh of Evansville, Ind. and Betsy McMasters of Corinith, Miss.; a brother, Pete Ball of Greenville; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Dec. 16 with the Rev. Steve Delashmit officiating.Burial followed in Jagoe Cemetery in Central City.

Curtis Wayne Williams
Curtis Wayne Williams, 37, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
He was born in Muhlenberg County, Aug. 18, 1967, the son of Bobby and Donna Jean Williams of Central City.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Williams of Rockport, Ind.; a sister, Shannon Presley of Graham; a brother, Alan Williams of Central City; and grandmother, Dorothy Barber of Drakesboro.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Dec. 16 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl Nelson officiating.Burial followed in Peanut Cemetery in Drakesboro.

John C. Ward
GREENVILLE - John C. Ward, 63, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Born in Muhlenberg County, March 24, 1941, he was a retired coal miner and a member of Beech Creek Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Evitts Ward; two daughters, Peggy Sue Penrose of Greenville and Sharon McGill of Talbott, Tenn.; a sister, Guynell Lear of Greenville; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Dec. 17 at Tucker Funeral Home with Bro. Roy Loney and Bro. Kenny Taylor officiating.Burial followed in Ebenezer Cemetery.
