LAKE MALONE - Larry Jay Moore, 46, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003 as the result of a car accident on U.S. Hwy. 431 South.
Born in Muhlenberg County, March 30, 1957, he was the band director at Muhlenberg South High School for the past four years and a member of the Baptist faith.He graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan College in 1979 and received his Masters Degree from Western Kentucky University.He was both the assistant band director and band director at Butler County High School from 1979 to 1999.He was preceded in death by his father, Goble J. Moore in 2002.
Survivors include his mother, Jewell Moore of Bremen and a stepson, Jordan Dukes.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Dec. 6 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Dave Rich and the Rev. Enoch Rich officiating.Burial followed in Yeargins Chapel Cemetery in Graham.

Elmes D. Noffsinger
SACRAMENTO - Elmes D. Noffsinger, 90, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003 at Owensboro Mercy Health System.
Born in McLean County, Sept. 13, 1913, she was a homemaker and a member of Sacramento Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Noffsinger.
Survivors include two sons, Roger Noffsinger of Madisonville and Sammy Noffsinger of Sacramento; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Dec. 4 at Tucker Memorial Chapel in Sacramento with the Rev. Mike Rust and the Rev. Kimbrough Simmons officiating.Burial followed in Station Baptist Church Cemetery in Sacramento.

Martha Jean Lutz
Martha Jean Lutz, 65, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003 at Owensboro Mercy Health System.
Born in Dexter, Mo., Aug. 4, 1938, she was a registered nurse at Muhlenberg Community Hospital and a member of New Life Christian Church in Powderly.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas Lutz; a son, Ben Lutz of Lexington; a daughter, Jane Dekovitch of Pompano, Fla.; a brother, Jack LaCour of Rockport, Ky.; and four grandchildren, Lane McKinley, Shawn McKinley, Alexis Lutz and Jessica Dekovitch.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Dec. 5 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Rice officiating.Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Oliver Thacker
GREENVILLE - Oliver Thacker, 81, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003 at Maple Manor Nursing Center in Greenville.
Born in Wolfped, Ky., Feb. 22, 1922, to the late Rev. N.B. and Dollie Thacker, he was a member of the Central City Church of God and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.He was retired from the maintenance department at Alcoa in Jacksonville, Fla.He was preceded in death by three sisters, Zola Amos, Dovie Charles and Betty Jean Hardesty; and one brother, Jackie Thacker.
Survivors include three brothers, Paul Thacker of Central City, Harvey James Thacker of Vancover, Wash. and David Allen Thacker of Lake Ore, Mich.; and a sister, Audra Mae Williamson of Ocala, Fla.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Dec. 6 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Knight officiating.Burial followed in Fairmount Cemetery in Central City.

Dwight Benton Devine
DRAKESBORO - Dwight Benton Devine, 57, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003 at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Aug. 13, 1946, he was a coal miner and attended 7th Day Adventist Church.He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Devine and a son, David Devine.
Survivors include his mother, Mae Devine of Drakesboro; two sisters, Martha Heltsley of Drakesboro and Janet Edwards of Greenville; and three nieces.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Dec. 7 at Tucker Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Shepherd officiating.Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Helen Lee Tooley
Helen Lee Tooley, 60, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainsville, Ga.
She was born in Rupart, Idaho, Sept. 27, 1943.
Survivors include her husband, Wilbur Tooley; two sons, Theodore Thomson of Atlanta, Ga. and Timothy Thomson of Gainsville, Ga.; two daughters, Tammy Rochetto of Chicago, Ill. and Rebecca Thomson of Peru, Ill.; two sisters; four brothers; 22 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Dec. 5 at Hughes Cemetery in Muhlenberg County with the Rev. Bill Penrod officiating.Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Opal Alberta Heltsley
DUNMOR - Opal Alberta Heltsley, 62, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, March 19, 1941, to Lillian (Arnold) McConnell and the late Bruce McConnel, she was a homemaker and a member of Beechcreek Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include her husband, Doug Heltsley; a son, Michael Heltsley of Dunmor; four sisters, Ovella Furlow of Russellville, Idella McMillan and Annie Barrow, both of Dunmor, and Patricia McConnell of Slaughters; six brothers, Jewel McConnell, Darrell McConnell, Tommy McConnell, Stevie McConnell and Doyle McConnell, all of Slaughters, and Thomas Earl Wilhite of Dunmor; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Dec. 7 at Price Funeral Home, Inc. in Lewisburg with the Rev. Wendell Lovell, Rev. Floyd Steele and Rev. Mark Knight officiating.Burial followed in Dunmor Cemetery in Dunmor.

Jimmy Ray Asher
Jimmy Ray Asher, 62, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Bell County, Ky., July 24, 1941, he was a retired coal miner and a Kentucky Colonel.
Survivors include a daughter, Lisa (Jim) McDonald of Greenville; a step-grandson, Matthew McDonald of Greenville; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Dec. 8 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Leroy Rearden officiating.Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Mandy Mae Mayes
Mandy Mae Mayes, 87, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003 at Belle Meade Nursing Center in Greenville.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Nov. 20, 1916, she was a housewife and a member of the Reservoir Pentecostal Church in Central City.She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Harlan Mayes, and a daughter, Ruby Fleming.
Survivors include two sons, Harlan Mayes, Jr., of Beechmont and Jerry Mayes of Greenfield, Ind.; two daughters, Myrtle Garnado and Shirley Chatmon, both of French Lick, Ind.; a brother, Henry Epley of California; three sisters, Lizzie Smith of Louisville, Nannie McKinney of Rockport, Ind. and Irene Daniels of California; 19 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and six great great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 12 p.m., Dec. 8 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Arnold Krantz officiating.Burial followed in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Powderly.

Freddie Woodlee
RUSSELLVILLE - Freddie Woodlee, 82, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003 at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, Ky.
Born in Tracy City, Tenn., May 30, 1921, to the late Fred and Mollie Woodlee, he was a coal miner, a member of Plainview General Baptist Church where he served as deacon for 35 years, a member of the Masonic Lodge 17 F&AM, and a U.S. Army AirCorp veteran having served in World War II.He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel June Woodlee.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Boone of Owensboro, three sons, Freddie Wayne Woodlee of Lewisburg, Gary Woodlee of Russellville and Terry Woodlee of Olmstead, Ky.; eight grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Dec. 9 at Price Funeral Home, Inc. in Lewisburg with the Rev. Hobert Eaton and the Rev. Jeremy Johnson officiating.Burial followed in Dunmor Cemetery in Dunmor.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Dunmor Cemetery Fund.

Louise Uzzle
GRAHAM - Louise Uzzle, 83, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, March 6, 1920, to the late Charlie Locke and Grace Jane Hancock Locke, she was a former resident of Madisonville, a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Depoy and a 1937 graduate of Graham High School.She was preceded in death by her husband, Union “Jiggs” Uzzle in 1992.
Survivors include two sons, Larry (Doris) Uzzle and Charles (Barbara) Uzzle, both of Greenville; a daughter, Ann (Terry) Chaney of Graham; a brother, Buell Locke of San Leondro, Calif.; six grandchildren, Michelle (Steve) Sparks of Central City, Melanie (Darrell) Culbertson and Terri (John) Cox, both of Greenville, Gail (Doug) Coffee of St. Petersburg, Fla., Gregg (Vernita) Uzzle of Dallas, Ga., and Neil (Anita) Chaney of Graham; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Dec. 8 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Drury officiating.Burial followed in Unity Cemetery in Graham.

Wallace R. “Bubby” Dame
SACRAMENTO - Wallace R. “Bubby” Dame, 80, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003 at his residence.
Born in McLean County, Feb. 14, 1923, he was a retired coal miner for Island Creek Coal Company and a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Davis Dame; two sons, Ronald Dame of Livermore and Ricky Dame of Island; a daughter, Lou Jane Miller of Springfield, Tenn.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a niece and nephew.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Dec. 8 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Ban Ashton officiating.Burial followed in Free Union Cemetery in Sacramento.

James O. Williams
DU QUOIN, ILL. - James O. Williams, 77, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003 at the Skilled Care Unit of Pinckneyville Hospital in Pinckneyville, Ill.
Born in Oakland City, Ind., June 1, 1926, to the late Russell O. and Neoma (Rock) Williams, he was a retired foreman at Consol Coal Company.He worked as a UMWA miner for Gibraltar Coal Corp. in Central City for 20 years and was a member of UMWA Local 1092.He was of Baptist faith and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.He was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Barrett and Vivian Norrington, and a brother, Donald, in infancy.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mara Lou Maikranz; a son, James A. (Shirley) Williams of Tamaroa, Ill.; a daughter, Linda (Frank) Campanella of Du Quoin, Ill.; three sisters, Imogene Beck of Petersburg, Ind., Georgia (Denver) Barrett of Winslow, Ind., and Kathern (Linden) Wilson of Petersburg, Ind.; two brothers, William (Mary) Williams of Otwell, Ind. and Bob (Pam) Williams of Braceville, Ill.; two brother-in-laws, Everett Barrett of Winslow, Ind. and Earl Norrington, Jr. of Petersburg, Ind.; six grandchildren, Vickie (Greg) Thompson and Jamie (Angie) Williams, both of Pinckneyville, Ill, Cara (Dylan) Huntley of Greenville, Ill., Kenny Williams of Tamaroa, Ill., and James Frank Campanella and Terry A. Campanella, both of Du Quoin, Ill.; three great-grandchildren, Shelbie, Grant and Holden.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Dec. 10 at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin, Ill. with the Rev. Tim McIntyre officiating.Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin, Ill.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

Roy Alvin Stovall
LEXINGTON - Roy Alvin Stovall, 79, formerly of Graham, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2003 at the Veterans Medical Center in Lexington.
He was self-employed in Muhlenberg County for 45 years, a former Marine SSGT having served in World War II and a member of Graham Baptist Church.He was preceded in death by his wife, Demetra (Mickey) Stovall and a sister, Mary Ford.
Survivors include three sons, Terry Stovall of Lexington, Jeff Stovall of Newport and Shawn Stovall of Bremen; two brothers, Paul Stovall of Michigan and Echolas Stovall of Graham; a sister, Hilda Cansler of Owensboro; five grandchildren, Eric Stovall of Greenville, Nichelle Stovall and Lucas Stovall, both of Lexington, and Sara and Shawn of Bremen; two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Whitlee.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Dec. 10 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Drury officiating.Burial will follow in Graham Cemetery.

Irene Blake Hancock
MADISONVILLE - Irene Blake Hancock, 89, formerly of Greenville, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville after a short illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Dec. 22, 1914, the daughter of Edmond Blake and Alice Myrtle Josey Blake, she was a waitress for many years at the Greenville Hotel Restaurant and a member of First Baptist Church in Greenville.
Survivors include a sister, Rendie Young of Madisonville, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Dec. 3 at Gary’s Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Midkiff officiating.Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville.

William “Bill” L. Robinson
EVANSVILLE - William “Bill” L. Robinson, 44, died Monday, Nov. 28 at his residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County, May 5, 1960, the son of Phyllis Robinson and the late Damon E. Robinson, he had Master Technician status in all areas of automotive technology.He was preceded in death by his grandparents, the Rev. E.V. and Maybell Robinson.
Survivors include his wife, Susan E. Robinson of Olney, Ill.; two sons, Mark Anthony Robinson and Jonathan Keith Robinson, both of Henderson; a sister, Pam Robinson of Greenville; five stepchildren, Mike, Amber, Talore, Brent and Jana; and companion, Kathy Braden.
Graveside funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Dec. 3 at Old Jackson Cemetery of Muhlenberg County, Inc. with the Rev. Kenneth Raymes officiating.Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel in Evansville was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
