Dallis T. Whitmer

BEECHMONT - Dallis T. Whitmer, 93, went to be with the Lord Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005.
Born in Muhlenberg County Dec. 20, 1911, he was the son of the late George and Annie Whitmer. He was a former tool and die worker in Louisville, a retired farmer, a ham radio operator and he attended the Church of God of Central City. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Whitmer, a grandson, Ricky Whitmer and six brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Sarah Ann Vincent Whitmer; a sister, Nannie Castle of Louisville; a brother, Lloyd Whitmer of Louisville; a grandson, Kenny Whitmer of Louisville; a great-granddaughter, Katy Whitmer of Louisville and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Nov. 19 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Banks officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

James Cleveland Strader Jr.

GREENVILLE - James Cleveland Strader Jr., 76, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville following a short illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County March 12, 1929, he was the son of the late James Courtland Strader and Eurla Hazel Thompson Strader. He was a retired coal miner at the Ayr Gem Coal Company, a heavy equipment operator and an Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Ray Strader and Rondal Strader and a son, James Curtis Strader III.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Betty Jean Strader; two daughters, Donna (Eddie) O’Bannon of Belton and Doreen (James) Cain of Greenville; two sons, Kenneth (Judy) Strader of Drakesboro and Billy Strader of Depoy; a brother, Charles Edward Strader of South Dakota; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Nov. 19 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Walter Evitts officiating. Burial followed in Muhlenberg County Memorial Garden Cemetery.

Rebecca Kaye Smith

MORGANTOWN - Rebecca Kaye Smith, 42, died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005 at her residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County Dec. 27, 1962, she was the daughter of Margaret McIntosh and the late Arvil McIntosh. She was a hairdresser and a member of Pathway Baptist Church in Cromwell.
Survivors include her husband, Ronnie Smith; a son, Adam Lee Stovall of Morgantown; a step daughter, Rechelle Howard of Gilstrap, Ky.; her mother, Margaret McIntosh of Greenville; four brothers, Carol (Millie) McIntosh of Bowling Green, Jimmy (Shirley) McIntosh of Greenville, Ernest (Sandy) McIntosh and Ronnie (Debbie) McIntosh, both of Powderly; two sisters, Martha (Donald) Dockery of Greenville and Priscilla (Elvis) Edwards of Madisonville and four grandchildren, Trenton Lee Stovall, Treylan Ray Stovall, Kolton Howard and Dawson Howard.
Funeral services were held at noon Nov. 18 at Olive Grove General Baptist Church in Greenville with the Rev. Richard Day and the Rev. Clifton Tomes officiating. Burial followed in Olive Grove Cemetery in Greenville. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Destiny Renee Owens

GREENVILLE - Destiny Renee Owens, 4, died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Nashville, Tenn. Oct. 3, 2001, she was the daughter of Johnny and Tracey Owens of Greenville.
Survivors include two sisters, Lora and Chastity Owens of Greenville; her grandparents, George and Margaret Phillips and Onedia Owens, all of Greenville; a great-grandmother, Florence Shultz of Central City; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held at noon Nov. 18 at the Pentecostal Church of God in Christ in Greenville with Elder Archie Grimmett officiating. Burial followed in West End Cemetery in Greenville. Bibbs Funeral Home in Greenville was in charge of the arrangements.

William C. Shelton

ELKTON - William C. Shelton, 69, died Monday, Nov. 14, 2005 at his sister’s home in Hopkinsville of natural causes.
Born in Muhlenberg County Oct. 14, 1936, he was the son of the late Sally Taylor Shelton and Roy Shelton. He was a farmer and a member of Lone Star Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Emmitt, Elwood, Brank and Glendale Shelton and two sisters, Sylvia Grace and Louise Lee.
Survivors include his wife, Earlene Settle Shelton; three step sons, Randall Settle of Hopkinsville, Wayne Settle and Larry Settle, both of Elkton; a step daughter, Rita Stokes of Elkton; three sisters, Emma Jean Selio and Margie Ventura, both of Hopkinsville and Alline Wells of Illinois; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Nov. 17 at Todd County Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Broadbent officiating. Burial followed in the Elkins Cemetery in Greenville.

Vera Mae Geary Ward

EVANSVILLE, IND - Vera Mae Geary Ward, 77, died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
Born in Muhlenberg County Oct. 16, 1928, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Clifford Geary of Evansville and Edward Geary of Hanson; two daughters, Shirley Wiggins and Vickie Cooper, both of Evansville; four brothers, Bobby Lewis and Roger Lewis, both of Louisville, Jimmy Lewis of Beaver Dam and Larry Lewis of Central City; three sisters, Mary Bailey of Nelson Creek, Sandra Golden of Louisville and Pamela Golden of Graham; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Nov. 21 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Neal officiating. Burial followed in Nelson Creek Cemetery in Nelson Creek.

Harvey Ernest “Butch” Waldorf Jr.

GRAHAM - Harvey Ernest “Butch” Waldorf Jr., 52, died Monday, Nov. 21, 2005 at his residence.
Born in Flint, Mich. Dec. 13, 1952, he was a construction worker and of the Pentecostal Faith.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Sayler Waldorf; two sons, Brian Waldorf and Harvey Waldorf, Jr., both of Paris, Tenn.; two daughters, Charlene Waldorf of Beechmont and Rebecca Waldorf of LaFayette, Ind.; a step son, Mack Dickerson of Greenville; three step daughters, Pam Hayward of Greenville, Roxann Grove of New York, N.Y. and Arlene McCay of Maryland; his mother, Mary Taylor of Greenville; two brothers, Douglas Waldorf of Greenville and Harry Kohler of Paris, Tenn.; a sister, Vickie Loney of Powderly; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Nov. 23 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Floyd Steele officiating. Burial will follow in Graham Cemetery in Graham. Visitation will be held after 5 p.m. Nov. 22 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City.

Edward Lee Murphy

Edward Lee Murphy, 76, died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005 at his residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County Oct. 2, 1929, he was the son of the late Behula and Dan Murphy. He was retired from Green River Steel in Owensboro as an overhead crane operator. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Central City, a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. He enjoyed watching University of Kentucky basketball and boxing. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ken, Edgar and Junior Murphy and two sisters, Vivian Steele and Juanita Mishak.
Survivors include his wife, Gynon Murphy; two sons, Edward Lee Murphy Jr. and Jeff Murphy, both of Central City; two daughters, Sharon (Sam) Dorris of Henderson and Tammy Murphy of Central City; a brother, Carl Murphy of Greenville; a sister, Ima Clines of Carlisle, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Brian (Jamie) Dorris, Chris Murphy, Lee Dorris, Jonathan Murphy, Daniel Murphy, Brad Chaney, Aaron Gonzales and Trevor Murphy and two great-grandchildren, Tyler Phillips and Levi Murphy.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 23 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Lowery officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery in Central City. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Nov. 22 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City.

Harvey Estil Pharis

GREENVILLE - Harvey Estil Pharis, 78, died Friday, Nov. 18, 2005 at his residence.
Born in Butler County Nov. 3, 1927, he was the son of the late Johnny Pharis and Lellia Swift Pharis and a retired coal miner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Jean Hoops Pharis in May 2003; and two sisters.
Survivors include three sons, Jerry Pharis of Mo., Jimmy Pharis of McHenry and Estil Pharis of Bremen; four daughters, Debbie Sailing of Hartford, Mary Sailing of Centertown, Vicky Pharis of Echols and Cynthia Pharis of Greenville; two brothers, Roy Lee Pharis and James Pharis, both of Beaver Dam; a sister, Louise Hillard of Hartford; 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Nov. 22 at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with the Rev. Dan Yeager officiating. Burial followed in Taylormine Cemetery in Beaver Dam.

Jerry Glenn Vincent

BREMEN - Jerry Glenn Vincent, 59, died Monday, Nov. 21, 2005 in Bowling Green.
Born in Muhlenberg County March 13, 1946, he was the son of the late Irvan “Papaw” and Mary Vincent. He was a self-employed truck driver and a member of Knobbs Church of God of Prophecy. He was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Vincent; two sisters, Ruby Jean Tucker and Hazel Sallee and a granddaughter, Stacy Leigh Vincent.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Conrad Vincent; two sons, Darrel (Shannon) Vincent and Keith (Heather) Vincent, both of Bremen; two brothers, Eddie Vincent and Micky Vincent, both of Bremen; a sister, Hilda Dukes, of Bremen and one grandson, Vince Vincent of Bremen.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 25 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Nathan Baize officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery in Moorman. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Nov. 24 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City.

Martine McDonald
Martine McDonald, 78, died Monday, Nov. 22, 2004 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Feb. 5, 1926, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include three sons, Ray McDonald of Bremen and Ronnie and Troy McDonald, both of Central City; three daughters, Carolyn Lile of Central City and Beverly Hardeman and Freda Vancil, both of Paducah; two brothers, Eddie Vincent of Bremen and Bobby Joe Vincent of Central City; two sisters, Juanita Hardesty of Hartford and Diane King of Evansville, Ind.; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Nov. 26 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Lowery and the Rev. Greg Brooks officiating.Burial followed in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Bremen.

Walter Ray “Rusty” Pointer

Walter Ray “Rusty” Pointer, 74, died Monday, Nov. 22, 2004 at his residence in Central City.
Born in Muhlenberg County, April 15, 1930, he was a retired coal miner and of Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes Sallee Pointer; a son, Ray Pointer of Central City; four daughters, Rita Pointer and Tracy Fraze, both of Nelson Creek, and Ann Pointer and Heather Roberts, both of Central City; a brother, Bobby Pointer of Central City; two sisters, Patsy Groves and Sharon Williams, both of Graham; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Nov. 24 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. J.W. Haire officiating.Burial followed in Fairmount Cemetery in Central City.

Glodine B. Petrie

CLIFTY - Glodine B. Petrie, 91, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004 at her residence of natural causes.
Born in Todd County, Dec. 8, 1912, the daughter of the late Teran and Maud Rust Brown, she was a schoolteacher of the Todd County School System for 32 years.She was preceded in death by her husband, Randolph H. Petrie in 1991, and a son, Dr. Roy H. Petrie, MD, Sc.D in 1995.
Survivors include a son, J. Jack Petrie of Clifty; a brother, Wayne Brown of Clifty; two grandsons; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Nov. 30 at Latham Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Chapman officiating.Burial followed in Clifty Cemetery.

Travis Spencer Avery

GREENVILLE - Travis Spencer Avery, 15, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Feb. 9, 1989, he was a student at Muhlenberg South High School and a member of Greater Lighthouse Church in Madisonville.He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jimmy Hayes and Joe and Zella Avery.
Survivors include his parents, Richard and Roselyn Avery; a brother, Thomas Avery; a sister, Tracy Avery; and his grandmother, Marie Hayes, all of Greenville.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Nov. 28 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Hendrix officiating.Burial followed in Rolling Gardens Family Cemetery in Greenville.

Ronald Wayne Millard

PADUCAH - Ronald Wayne Millard, 53, formerly of Central City, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004 at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Sept. 11, 1951, the son of James E. and Joyce Devine, he was a boilermaker and a member of Mt. Zion Church in Paducah.He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Knight in 2001.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice Clark Millard; four daughters, Brook LeAnn Lambert of Central City, Heather Harris of Madisonville, Tracy Knight and Stacey Gibson, both of Beaver Dam; a brother, James M. “Butch” Devine of Central City; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held a 1 p.m., Nov. 27 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. C.W. Duncan officiating.Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.
