GREENVILLE - Elizabeth Carver, 87, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital following several weeks of illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Nov. 23, 1915, to the late William McCauley and Verdie Hankins McCauley, she was a member of the Greenville United Methodist Church.She had worked for Hahn-Oates & Company and William & Wells Drug Store before retirement.
Survivors include three daughters, Betty Locke of Morgantown, Martha Abbott and Dottie Mangrum, both of Greenville; three sisters, Lois Dockins, Katie Toms, and Mrs. Jimmie Knight, all of Greenville; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Nov. 23 at Greenville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Vernon Perdue officiating.Burial followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Greenville.

Raylee June Byrd

Raylee June Byrd, newborn, died Friday, Nov. 21, 2003 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Born Nov. 21, 2003 to Dusty Lee Byrd, she was preceded in death by great-grandfather, Andrew “Cotton” Byrd.
Survivors include an aunt, Carrie Byrd of Central City; grandmother, Cindy Byrd of Madisonville; grandfather, Andy Byrd of Uniontown, Ky.; great-grandmother, Ida Byrd of Uniontown; and great-grandparents, Sylvester and Ada Vaught, of Central City.
Graveside funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Nov. 24 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City with the Rev. Donnie Wilkins officiating.Tucker Funeral Home in Central City was in charge of the arrangements.

James Walton Peveler

OWENSBORO - James Walton Peveler, 79, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003 at Owensboro Mercy Health System.
Born in Muhlenberg County, March 5, 1924, to the late Ethel Mae Alford Ezell Peveler and Jess Raymond Noffsinger Peveler, he was a retired supervisor for BellSouth Services having served 40 years as a supervisor.He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Telephone Pioneer’s of America and a U.S. Army veteran having served during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary Ann Peveler; two sons, Joel James Peveler and Willard Walton Peveler, both of Owensboro; three daughters, Ella Sue York, Carla Dunaway and Joan Sweeney, all of Owensboro; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Nov. 25 at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro.Burial followed in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be in the form of donations to Kentucky Baptist Homes for Children, 10200 Linn Station Rd., Suite 200, Louisville, KY 40223.

Lillian D. “Mike” Charlton

BUCYRUS, OHIO - Lillian D. “Mike” Charlton, 86, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003 at Fairview Manor Bucyrus.
Born in Bucyrus to the late Earl and Eva Link Charlton, she attended Holy Trinity School and was a 1935 graduate of Bucyrus High School.She worked in Bucyrus, New Philadelphia and Central City for the J.J. Newberry Co. until her retirement in1982.She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and active with the Catholic Ladies of Columbia, as well as an avid bowler.She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Ann Schnabel and a brother, John Robert Charlton.
Survivors include a sister, Kathryn “Kate” Dill of Bucyrus; a niece; three nephews; a great-niece; and two great nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Nov. 24 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Ronald LeJeune officiating.Burial followed in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Bucyrus.
Memorial donations may be made to the Holy Trinity Parish or Endowment Fund in care of the funeral home.Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Thomas Leslie Buchanan

DUNMOR - Thomas Leslie Buchanan, 52, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003 at Logan Memorial Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Sept. 1, 1951, he was a truck driver for Muhlenberg County Sanitation and attended Wileys Chapel Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Nadine Baugh Buchanan; two stepsons, Jeff Whitaker and Shaun Whitaker, both of Lewisburg; three brothers; Chester Buchanan of Powderly, Bruce Buchanan of Belton and Phillip Buchanan of Beech Creek; five sisters, Charlene Johnson and Mable Groves, both of Graham, Brenda Zachary of Beech Creek, Shirley Dwyer of Drakesboro, and Carolyn Garrett of Greenville; his grandmother, Dorothy Buchanan of Drakesboro; and three stepgrandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Nov. 25 at Price Funeral Home, Inc. with the Rev. Travis Bryan and the Rev. Sandy Douglass officiating.Burial followed in Wiley’s Chapel Cemetery in Lewisburg.

Ellis G. Williams

LOUISVILLE - Ellis G. Williams, 85, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003.
A native of Muhlenberg County, he was a graduate of University of Kentucky and a veteran of World War II.He retired from the Asphalt Institute and continued working as a consultant until his death.
Survivors include a son, Tom; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held immediately following visitation from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Nov. 26 at Mother of Good Counsel Church, 8509 Westport Rd. in Louisville.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ellis G. Williams Endowed Scholarship Fund, c/o UK College of Engineering, 251 Ralph G. Anderson building, Lexington, KY40506.

Mark Anthony Rice

GREENVILLE - Mark Anthony Rice, 47, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Born in Jefferson County, Aug. 26, 1956, he was a construction worker for Wilkerson Accustic Plastering in Owensboro.
Survivors include his wife, Lori Terry Rice; a son, Jason B. Rice of Greenville; a daughter, Allison Dawn Rice of Greenville; his mother, Loyce Rice of Powderly; a brother, Greg Rice of Greenville; three sisters, Sara Spears and Julie Bilyeu, both of Powderly, and Melissa Vincent of Luzerne; his grandmother, Sarah Elizabeth Boley; and one grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Nov. 25 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Rice officiating.Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville.

Elizabeth Ann Fulkerson Phillips

DRAKESBORO - Elizabeth Ann Fulkerson Phillips, infant, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.
Born in Warren County, Oct. 26, 2003, to Susan Fulkerson Phillips and Jason Paul Phillips.
Survivors include a brother, Michael Allen Fulkerson; two half sisters, Victoria and Samantha Phillips; and grandparents, Gayla Phillips, Betty Fulkerson and Malcolm Phillips.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Nov. 26 at Wyatts Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Steve McElvain officiating.Burial will follow in Wyatts Chapel Cemetery in Beech Creek.Tucker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Laverda Alma Rager
DRAKESBORO - Laverda Alma Rager, 87, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2003 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Jan. 12, 1916, she was a food service worker in Drakesboro.She was preceded in death by her husband, Mose Rager; and three sons, Gail Martin Rager, David Clark Rager, and Freddie Doris Rager.
Survivors include two daughters, Anita Smith of Drakesboro and Marilyn Baxter of Belton; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Nov. 26 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Rev. Estil Mayes officiating.Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery in Drakesboro.

Charles Thomas Roll

SLAUGHTERS, KY - Charles Thomas Roll, 68, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Dec. 24, 1934, he was an educator and counselor employed in both Kentucky and Florida. He was a U.S. veteran of the Korean War. He was preceded in death by a son, Chetley Roll and a sister, Betty Staples.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Levy-Roll; three sons, Chad Roll of Florida, Chip Roll of Burgin, Ky., and Chuck Roll of Bowling Green; a brother, J.T. Roll of Central City; two sisters, Eula Mae Bastin and Jewell Dell Roll, both of Owensboro.
Graveside funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Nov. 15 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

David Scott Devine

DRAKESBORO - David Scott Devine, 32, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003 at his residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Sept. 30, 1971, he was employed at Logan Aluminum in Russellville.
Survivors include his father, Dwight Devine of Drakesboro; his mother Ruth (Mike) Casebier of Drakesboro; a stepbrother, Troy Casebier of Penrod; a stepsister, Toye Sutton of Beaver Dam; grandmothers, Mae Emily Devine of Drakesboro and Cora Fleming of Rosewood; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Nov. 13 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. T.H. Davis officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Diane Creager Parsons

Diane Creager Parsons, 58, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003 in Eddyville.
Born in Muhlenberg County, June 12, 1945, she was a homemaker and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her father, Bryant Creager.
Survivors include her husband, Bronnie Parsons; a son, Michael “Mickey” Beck of Central City; two daughters, Tracey Keck of Burleson, Texas and Lori McDonald of Henderson; her mother, Opal Creager of Central City; three brothers, Bobby Creager of Powderly, Nace Creager and Danny Creager, both of Bremen; four sisters, Nevon Webb of Powderly, Priscilla Arnold of Cadiz, Beverly Wilkins of Bremen, and Debbie Hardison of Mayfield; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Nov. 14 at Tucker Funeral Home. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Henry W. Dennis

MADISONVILLE - Henry W. Dennis, 83, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003 at his residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Sept. 13, 1920, to the late Lucian and Joses Barnard Dennis, he was a truck driver for 29 years and also worked for Railway Express. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a Southern Baptist. He was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Lennie C. Dennis; two sons, Wendell Dennis of Kansas City, Mo. and Dale Dennis of Louisville; four daughters, Patricia Denkler of Warrensburg, Mo., Cynthia Weir of Greenville, Ind., Mary Allen of Hixson, Tenn., and Anita Saulsgiver of Holister, Fla.; two brothers, Howard Dennis of Central City and Boyce Dennis of Vista, Calif.; a sister, Dorothy Swain of Drakesboro; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Nov. 15 at Tucker Funeral Home. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Tommy Bernard McKnight

HUSTONVILLE, KY - Tommy Bernard “Big Mac” McKnight, 63, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003 at his residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Dec. 3, 1939, the son of Bonnie McKnight Campbell of Louisville and the late Paul McKnight of Central City, he was retired from Ford Motor Co., a member of Midwest Bikers Club of Indianapolis, Ind. and of Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Lou Clark McKnight; a son, Timmy McKnight of Indianapolis, Ind.; two stepdaughters, Eva Sanford of Hustonville and Sonya Morgan of Liberty, Ky.; a sister, Theresa Fangman of New Albany, Ind.; one granddaughter and six step grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Nov. 1 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Don Clark officiating. Burial followed in Hilltop Cemetery near Liberty, Ky.

Kenneth O. “Tex” Taylor

MADISONVILLE - Kenneth O. “Tex” Taylor, 72, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003 at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville.
Born in Darby Springs, Texas, Dec. 25, 1930 to the late Othal M. Taylor and Beatrice McCaskill Taylor, he was a coal miner and active in the local business community. He was one of the founders of the First United Bank of Hopkins County.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Dorothy Lis Taylor; two daughters, Kenwyn Riddle of Madisonville and Tama Taylor of Louisville; a son, Kenneth O. “Bo” Taylor of Madisonville; two sisters, Pat Melendez of Greenville and Sue Thomas of Madisonville; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 12 p.m., Nov. 18 at Christ the King Catholic Church with Father Gerald Calhoun officiating. Burial followed in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the Christ the King Renovation Fund. Barnett-Strother Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
