Kenneth Ray Benton

CLAY - Kenneth Ray Benton, 61, of Clay, Ky. died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, at his residence.
Born Oct. 21, 1941 in Muhlenberg County to Culon and Dorothy Benton, he was the proprietor of Clay Machine Works, Inc. for 35 years. He was a member of Jachin Lodge #739 of Clay and attended the First General Baptist Church in Clay. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and collected and made arrowheads. He was preceded in death by his father, Culon, in 1984.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kay Benton of Clay; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Dennis Bryant of Clay; one son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Kathy Benton of Clay; mother, Dorothy Benton of Madisonville; one brother, Darrell Benton of Madisonville; six grandchildren, Shawn and Brett Graham, Keely Benton, Brittany, Dylan and Dalton Bryant; father-in-law, Joe Thompson, of Earlington.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 1 - 8 p.m. at the First General Baptist Church in Clay and Wednesday from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., the time of the funeral. The Rev. Curtis Yarbrough will officiate, assisted by Mitchell Knight. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Madisonville. Masonic rites will be conducted at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. Vanover Funeral Home in Clay is in charge of arrangements.

Rev. Kathy Sue Hudson-York

LIVERMORE - Rev. Kathy Sue Hudson-York, 44, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2005 at Owensboro Medical Health System.
Born in Muhlenberg County Dec. 28, 1960, she was a member of the Harvest Vision Church in Livermore.
Survivors include her husband, Eddie York; three sons, James Morris of Paducah, Danny Hudson, Jr. of Florida and Matthew Morris of Livermore; three daughters, Krystal Velazquez of Sebree and Wilma Hudson and Darcey Hudson, both of Livermore; her mother, Wilma Walker of Livermore; brothers and sisters, Stanley Walker of Louisiana, Fount Walker of Greenville, Lois Barnes of Owensboro, Billie Walker of Alabama and Anna Willis of Caneyville and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Oct. 13 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Shockley officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Hills Cemetery in Utica.

Nona Maude Butler

Nona Maude Butler, 89, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2005 at Parview Hospital in Nashville, Tenn.
Born in Newton County, Miss. Feb. 6. 1916, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Elizabeth Puckett.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice Street of Ashland City, Tenn.; a granddaughter and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Oct. 12 with the Rev. Leroy Rearden officiating. Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Laverne Reno

Laverne Reno, 82, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County June 22, 1923, she was a retired payroll clerk employed by Tennessee Valley Authority and a member of the Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Bremen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Reno in 1996.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne Reno and Larry Reno, both of Central City; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Oct. 13 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Reno officiating. Burial followed in Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Bremen.

Ora Frances Bumgardner

HENDERSON - Ora Frances Bumgardner, 79, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2005 at her residence.
Born in Sturgis, Ky. Dec. 22, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Elbert Logan and Lallie Dalton and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Temple. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Bumgardner Jr. in 1978.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Melloy and Lori Bumgardner, both of Henderson; three sons, John Bumgardner of Chandler, Ind., Randy Bumgardner of Franklin, Tenn. and Robert Bumgardner of Herderson; a sister, Emma Lyon of Greenville; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Oct. 13 at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home with the Rev. David Latham and the Rev. R. Joseph Tricquet officiating. Burial followed in Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson. Expressions of sympathy can be made to Immanuel Baptist Temple Building Fund or The Chapel Hill United Methodist Church Transportation Ministry.

Patricia Faye Woodall

BREMEN - Patricia Faye Woodall, 70, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005 at Owensboro Medical Health System.
Born in Muhlenberg County Sept. 26, 1935, she was a deli clerk for 20 years at Kroger in Madisonville and a member of the New Harmony Baptist Church in Bremen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Denzil “Punch” Woodall in 2005.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Woodall of Midland and David Woodall of Madisonville; two daughters, Sheri English of Central City and Lisa Moore of Bremen; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Oct. 15 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Yeager officiating. Burial followed in New Harmony Cemetery in Bremen.

Johney Robert Simes

GRAHAM - Johney Robert Simes, 81, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005 at his residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County Feb. 2, 1924, he was a retired state employee with the environmental department.
Survivors include his wife, Velma Simes; five step daughters, Ola Jean Merrill of White Plains, Sarah Jarvis of Graham, Reginia Hopper and Relia Dukes, both of Greenville and Paula Vanover of Shelby, Ohio; five step sons, Norman Williams and Joe Jarvis, both of Graham, W.C. Williams of Greenville, Ed Williams of Dexter, Ky. and Paul Jarvis of Benton, Ky.; several step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Oct. 14 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Wendell Lovell officiating. Burial followed in the Graham Hill Cemetery in Graham.

Lou K. Garst

EVANSVILLE, IND - Lou K. Garst, 61, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005 at the Deaconess Hospice Care Center in Evansville.
Born in Muhlenberg County Nov. 11, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Juanita and Henry Vincent. She was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, George Garst; two sons, Vincent Garst of Evansville and Matthew Garst of Arlington, Va.; two brothers, Jimmy Vincent of Evansville and Perry Vincent of Greenville; two sisters, Janice Mills of Bowlingbrook, Ill. and Sandra Fleming of Greenville and two grandsons.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Oct. 13 at Alexander East Chapel in Evansville with the Rev. Marcella Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at a later date.

Dorothy L. Vincent

OWENSBORO - Dorothy L. Vincent, 81, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2005 at her residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County Sept. 2, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Annie Alexander. She retired from General Electric after 34 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Albert Vincent in 2004; four sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include two sons, Albert Junior Vincent and Robert H. Vincent; two daughters, Joyce A. Jefford and Vondale Fielden; a sister, Louella Booth; a brother, Ray Dan Alexander; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Oct. 16 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Leroy Rearden officiating. Burial followed in the Fairmount Cemetery in Central City.

Timmy Harlan Mayes

BELTON - Timmy Harlan Mayes, 34, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005 in Borden, Ind.
Born in Greenfield, Ind. Dec. 16, 1970, he was the son of Harlan and Margaret Mayes of Belton. He was a truck driver for Swift Motor Transport in Clarksville, Ind. and a member of Riverside Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Angela Middleton Mayes; a son, Jacob Mayes; two daughters, Amber and Heather Bowen and three sisters, Teresa Mefford and Tammy Goff, both of Belton and Terri Ashley of Drakesboro.
Funeral arrangements are pending until further notice.

Eugene C. Cleary

CANANDAIGUA, NY - Eugene C. Cleary, 73, formerly of Sacramento, died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005 as the result of a vehicle collision.
A native of Rochester, N.Y. born Feb. 2, 1932, he spent much of his career as a senior instructor at the Navy school for meteorology. After his Navy career, he spent 25 years as a substance abuse counselor for the Navy and private institutions. He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Doris Combs Cleary and a son, Eugene Cleary Jr.
Survivors include four daughters, Susan Reese, Nola Barrera, Marianne Stulich, all of N.J. and Patricia Buckland of N.H.; three sons, Michael Cleary and Sean Cleary of N.J. and Patrick Cleary of Calif. and his former wife, Marie Cleary of Sacramento.
A memorial Mass was celebrated at 9 a.m. Oct. 8 at St. Patrick’s Church in Victor, N.Y. Burial followed in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Jarmusz Cotton Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may be made in his name to Mercy Flight or your favorite charity.

Beulah Mildred Blake
BELTON ­ Beulah Mildred Blake, 92, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Grayson County, July 11, 1912, to the late Harvey McPherson and Luella McPherson, she was a homemaker and a member of Myers Chapel United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Blake.
Survivors include three daughters, Mildred Marie Clack of San Diego, Calif., Ernestine Owens of Belton and Zula Tipton of Denham Springs, La.; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Oct. 9 at Price Funeral Home in Lewisburg. Burial followed in Union Ridge Cemetery.

Willadean Markwell Felty
BREMEN ­ Willadean Markwell Felty, 80, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Jan. 7, 1924, she was a homemaker and a member of Powers Chapel General Baptist Church in Bremen.
Survivors include a son, Ronald Markwell of Bremen; a daughter, Joyce Vanover of Evansville, Ind.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five great great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Oct. 16 at Tucker Memorial Chapel in Sacramento with the Rev. J.W. Haire officiating. Burial followed in Gish Cemetery in Bremen.

Richard Riley

BROWDER ­ Richard Riley, 74, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004 at his residence.
Born in Daviess County, Aug. 10, 1930, he was a retired farmer and of Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Riley; a daughter, Wanda Riley of Drakesboro; a stepdaughter, Marlene Taylor Riley of Owensboro; a foster daughter, Pat Davis of Greenville; a brother, Inis Lee Riley Sr. of Hawesville; three sisters, Stella Larson of Owensboro, Goldie Sutton and Rachel Sexton, both of Fordsville; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and eight step grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Oct. 17 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Neal officiating. Burial followed in Union Ridge Cemetery in Belton.

Margie Katherine Wright

HOPKINSVILLE ­ Margie Katherine Wright, 90, died Wednesday, Oct. 13 at Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes.
Born in Todd County, May 10, 1914, to the late Walter Hudson and Lola Quay Ferrin Kenner, she was a member of Green Ridge Cumberland Presbyterian Church, a homemaker and retired from Red Cap Industries. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Norris Wright in 1995.
Survivors include a brother, Clayton Kenner of Sharon Grove and a sister, Gracie Magdeline Peterson of Punta Gorda, Fla.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Oct. 15 at Latham Funeral Home with the Rev. Marty Heltsley officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

William M. Brown

CHELSEA, MICH. ­ William M. Brown, 88, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004 at Silver Maples in Chelsea, Mich.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Jan. 12, 1916, to the late Pete and Ida (Engler) Brown, he was a member of Cherry Hill Baptist Church in Central City. He worked for Townsend and Bottum Construction Company in Ann Arbor, Mich. for 50 years, starting as a timekeeper and retiring as Executive Vice President in 1987. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Pete, and a sister, Donna, as well as his stepmother, Grace (Steersman) Brown.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen Toole Brown; a son, Jerry Brown of Ann Arbor, Mich.; a daughter, Linda Brown of Farmington Hills, Mich.; a brother, J.P. Brown of Madisonville; a sister, Martha Jane McDowell of Old Hickory, Tenn.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sept. 16 at Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home in Chelsea, Mich. with the Rev. Dena Cleaver-Bartholomew officiating.
