Services for Mrs. Cecile Moser Culpepper, 83, of Quitman, LA were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2001 in the Quitman Baptist Church. Officiating was Rev. Donald Rudd and Bro. Terry Mims. Interment was in Quitman Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro, LA. Mrs. Culpepper died Wednesday, October 31, 2001 at her residence. Mrs. Culpepper was born September 10, 1918. She was a member of Quitman Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for 50 plus years. She was also a member of the W.M.U. of Quitman and Hodge, and a member of Quitman Homemakers Club. She retired from teaching Special Education from the Jackson Parish School System. Survivors include three daughters, Mary C. Ayres of Ruston, LA, Billie Faye Jones of Jonesboro, LA and Pat Vincent of Baton Rouge, LA; one sister, Evelyn Baker of Quitman, LA; five grandchildren, Paula Williams, Melissa Ikerd, Bill Jones, Jonathan Ayres and Danielle Ayres; and six great grandchildren, James and Justin Ikerd, Chase, Chance and Clay Williams, and Carley Jones. Pallbearers were Robert Baker, Roy Baker, Lavelle Brown, Ronnie Bryan, Paul Johnson, Sr., and L. L. "Slick" Robinson. Honorary pallbearers were grandsons.

Services for Sikes L. Smith, 98, of Ruston, LA will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2001 in the Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Dale Oden. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Mr. Smith died Thursday, November 1, 2001 in Ruston, LA following a lengthy illness. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and Senior Adult Choir. He was an active member of the AARP and Woodman of the World. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Smith of Ruston; and numerous relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Lascar Harlan, George Stone, Francis Stephenson, Aubrey Simmons, Bill Hamilton and Ronnie Potts. Honorary pallbearers will be Omega Sunday School Class of the Senior Adult #4 of Temple Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home in Monroe or to the charity of the donor's choice. Services for Allie Mae Bagwell Jennings, 86, of Ruston, LA will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2001 in the Holmesville Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Jerry Whitman and Rev. Scott Jennings. Interment will be in Holmesville Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. She left this earth to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 30, 2001 in Ruston, LA following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Jennings was born on March 12, 1915 near Farmerville, LA. She was a member of Holmesville Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Delaney Hicks Bagwell and Lula Skains Bagwell; her husband, Malvin Jackson Jennings; two sons, Billy Dwance and Calvin Delaney Jennings; two brothers, Otis and V. D. Bagwell; one son-in-law, Clarence Jackson "Jackie" White; and one daughter-in-law, Mary Bryan Jennings. Officiating will be Rev. Kenneth Verner. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park under the direction of Mangum Funeral Home of Center, TX. Mrs. Ramsey died October 28, 2001 in Ruston, LA following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Ramsey was born April 9, 1924 in Center, TX to Van Buren Shofner and Susie Ann Corbell Shofner. She was a retired nurse's aid for Schumpert Medical Center in Shreveport, LA and was a member of Summer Grove United Methodist Church in Shreveport, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Van Buren and Susie Ann Shofner, and her husband, John Donece Ramsey. Survivors include three sons, Billy Mack Ramsey and wife Patricia of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, William Patrick Ramsey of Houston, TX and Michael Kirby Ramsey and wife Catherine of Ruston, LA; three grandsons, John Michael Ramsey of Ruston, LA, and Matthew Kelly Ramsey and Alex Taylor Ramsey, both of Cape Girardeau, MO; one sister, Mavis S. Gertrude H. McKinney, 97, of Smackover, AR, died Sunday, October 28, 2001 at Health South Rehabilitation Hospital in Ruston, LA. Born April 16, 1904 in Drew County, AR, daughter of the late John and Cora Mathews Halligan, she was the owner/operator of McKinney Dry Goods and Sur-wa Grocery Store in Smackover, AR, a member of First United Methodist Church of Smackover, member Order of Eastern Star and the widow of D. E. "Bud" McKinney, who died June 10, 1967. She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. Survivors include one son, John McKinney and wife Mary Lou of Ruston, LA; one daughter, Sue McKinney Lung of LaHabra Heights, California; six grandchildren, Gayle Lung Rosen, Laura Lung, John David Lung, Martin Lung, Richard G. McKinney and Jennifer Haarala; six great grandchildren; and one brother, Bert Halligan of Tyler, TX. Graveside services will be Thursday, November 1, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. in McKinney Cemetery near Warren, AR by Frazer's Funeral Home of Warren. Annie Mar McCoy Johnson
Annie Mar McCoy Johnson, 90, passed away October 27, 2001 in Ruston. She was a native of Huttig, Arkansas and lived there most of her life, moving to Ruston in 1997. Mrs. Johnson was a charter member of First Baptist of Huttig. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Rodney M. Johnson, Sr., her mother and father, three brothers and one sister. Mrs. Johnson is survived by a son, Rodney M. Johnson, Jr., and his wife Beverly of Ruston; a daughter, Ann Johnson Clark of Shreveport; three grandsons, Rodney M. Johnson III of Shreveport, Robert Johnson of Monroe, and Rodney Clark of Shreveport; a granddaughter, Vicki Clark Fortuno of Springfield, VA; and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 29, 2001 at Young's Chapel with Rev. Bruce Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery under the direction of Young's of El Dorado. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 - 4 p.m.

Bernard Allen Alfred
Services for Bernard Allen Alfred, 81, will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, October 28, 2001 at Rose-Neath Chapel in Arcadia. Officiating will be Rev. Jeff Hoffman, pastor of First Baptist Church of Arcadia and Rev. Larry Joyner, pastor of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. Burial will be at Arcadia Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., Saturday, October 27, 2001 at the funeral home. Mr. Alfred died Friday, October 26, 2001 after a short illness. He was born in Haslam, TX and had resided in Arcadia for forty years. Mr. Alfred was a retired secretary of the Bienville Parish Police Jury, and he was a member of First Baptist Church of Arcadia, Arcadia Lions Club, and was an active supporter of Arcadia and the surrounding area. He was also a master Mason. In addition he served proudly with the Eighth Army Air Corps as a bombardier stationed in England during World War II, flying 25 missions aboard his B-24, the "Linda Lou". He was a graduate of Arcadia High School and Louisiana Tech University. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gene Woodard Alfred. Survivors are his sons, Bernie Alfred of Seattle, Washington and David Alfred and wife Janie of Destin Florida; granddaughter Alison Alfred of Destin, Florida and grandson Brian Alfred of Mesa, Arizona; nephews Al Madden of Simsboro, Ray Madden of Ruston, and Gary Melanson of Shreveport. Pallbearers will be Al Madden, Ray Madden, Gary Melanson, Curtis McCrary, Doyle Gantt, and Guye Corley.

Nell B. Hockenjos
Funeral services for Nell B. Hockenjos, 74, of Ruston, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 30, 2001 in the Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Atkins officiating. Interment will be in Walnut Creek Cemetery in Simsboro under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Mrs. Hockenjos died October 27, 2001 in Ruston. She was a member of the Vienna First Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband Don Hockenjos, of Ruston; two sons, Don Hockenjos Jr., of Ruston, and Howard Hockenjos, of Dubach; three daughters, Louise Jeffcoat, of Florence, AL, Molly Snipe, of Santa Fe, TX, and Serena Rodgers, of Dubach; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mike Conner Brabham
Funeral services for Mike Conner Brabham, 70, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 26, 2001 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Billy Crosby, pastor of Trinity Heights Baptist Church, assisted by Dr. Rod Masteller, pastor of Summer Grove Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2001 at the funeral home. Mr. Brabham, a native of Pike County, MS and resident of Shreveport, LA for 26 years, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2001 in Starkville, MS. He graduated with a BS degree in Physical Education from Mississippi College, and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He influenced many young men and women during an eighteen-year career as a school teacher and coach of football and various other sports. Mr. Brabham retired after 23 years as a State Farm Insurance Agent. He was a member of Summer Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and a Sunday School teacher of the Believer's Class. He was a past master of Queensboro Masonic Lodge. Mr. Brabham was preceded in death by his parents, Jehu and Hattie Brabham; brother, Welton Brabham; and sister, Elaine Denson. He is survived by his wife, June Brabham; three daughters, Connie B. Carter and husband Ben of Henderson, TX, Kathy B. Nelson and husband Rick of Ruston, LA and Lisa B. Ruth and husband Mike of Coppell, TX; two sisters, Carrie B. Hawkins of Starkville, MS and Yvonne B. Brumfield of McComb, MS; brother, Alex Brabham of Brookhaven, MS; six grandchildren, Rachel and Sarah Carter, Katie and Lisa Nelson, and Annie and Mike Conner Ruth; and numerous nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be family members. Members of the Believer's Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. Raymond Travis Birch
Raymond Travis Birch, 74, of McGehee, Arkansas, born on April 1, 1927 in Tillar, Arkansas the son of the late Hiram and Lula Barrett Birch, departed this life on October 23, 2001 in McGehee, Arkansas. He was a member of the Tillar United Methodist Church, retired farmer and ginner. He served in the Navy during World War II on the USS Topeka. Mr. Birch was Chairman of the Administration Board and Council with The Tillar Methodist Church, President of Tillar Cemetery Association and member of American Legion. Survivors are his loving wife, Virginia Birch; two sons, Gil Birch of Ruston, Louisiana and Hoyt Birch of Monticello, Arkansas; a brother, David R. Birch of McGehee, Arkansas; two sisters, Lynette Glossup of Little Rock, Arkansas and Shirley Medgett of San Antonio, Texas; and eight grandchildren. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 26, 2001 in the Tillar Methodist Church with Rev. Buddy Ratliff officiating. Interment will be in Tillar Cemetery. Don Hayes Milam
Graveside services for Don Hayes Milam, 82, born on August 4, 1919, of Ruston, LA will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2001 at Greenwood Cemetery in Ruston with Dr. David Newberry and Dr. Michael Hawley officiating. Services are under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Mr. Milam passed away Sunday, October 21, 2001 in Ruston after a sudden illness. Don was a devout Christian and a member of Cook Baptist Church in Ruston. Mr. Milam was a pharmacist in Ruston for 30 years and owner of Milam's Prescription Center. He was a graduate of Louisiana Tech, Mechanical Engineering, 1941, and Howard College School of Pharmacy in Birmingham, Alabama in 1949. He proudly served his country as a B-25 pilot in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Attaining the rank of captain, he flew 55 missions in the China, Burma, India War Theatre with the Flying Tigers under General Claire Chennault. For his service, he received the Air Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross and the Purple Heart for wounds received when his plane was shot down over China in 1943. He was preceded in death by his parents J.B. and Myrtle Milam of Ruston. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Hazel Hilton Milam of Ruston; a sister, Elaine LaRue of Ruston; sons, Mark Milam and wife Judy of Shreveport and Paul Milam and wife Dana of Ruston; daughters, Cindy Singleton and husband Jerry of Homer and Kay Redd and husband Blake of The Woodlands, TX; grandchildren, Kevin Singleton and wife Renee, Tracey Impson and husband Jason, Sarah Beth Harrington and husband Brooks, Bobby Singleton, Cade Milam, Matthew Milam, Chance Redd, and David Milam; great granddaughters, Ashley Impson and Kylie Singleton. He was a member of the Choudrant Methodist Church. He was a member of Cook Baptist Church and AGAPE Sunday School class. Mrs. McGee died October 19, 2001 in Ruston, LA. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen McGee. Survivors include one son, James McGee and wife Frances of Morringsport, LA; one daughter, Faye McGee Allison of Bienville, LA; two sisters, Dorothy Waits and husband Tommy and Lucille McCoy, all of Ringgold, LA; grandchildren, John Patrick, Jr. and wife Charlotte, Joe Patrick and wife Ada, Tracey Blanchard and husband Steve, Sue Richard, Kim McGee and wife Dusky, Wesley McGee and wife Sandy, and Don McGee and wife Jessica; eleven great grandchildren; and a very special person, Dorothy Johnson. Mrs. Webb died Thursday, October 18, 2001 in Ruston, LA following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Webb was a member of First Baptist Church of Choudrant. She had been a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Lake Charles, LA for nearly 50 years and was a devoted Sunday School volunteer in the infant nursery for 45 of those years. She was a graduate of Choudrant High School and attended Louisiana Tech University. Survivors include one daughter, Jeralyn Webb Kirkpatrick and husband Terry of Ridgefield, CT; grandchildren, Sara Katharine Kirkpatrick, Rachel Elizabeth Kirkpatrick, and Jeremy Truett Kirkpatrick, all of Ridgefield, CT; one sister, Vivian Holstead of Choudrant, LA; one niece, Linda Freeman of Choudrant, LA; one nephew, James Holstead, Jr. of Niceville, FL; one great nephew, James Holstead III of Niceville, FL; and one special sister-in-law, Frances Webb of Florence, MS. Prentiss Broughton
Services for Mr. Prentiss Broughton, 81, of Hico, will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2001 at Owens Memorial Chapel, Ruston, with Bro. Charles Harlan and Bro. Bruce McGee officiating. Interment will be in Harmony Chapel Cemetery, Hico, under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, Ruston. Mr. Broughton died Tuesday, October 16, 2001 at Lincoln General Hospital after a brief illness. He was a member and Deacon of Sharon Baptist Church, and was a veteran of WWII, and retired from Willamette Plywood. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Lillian Broughton; three daughters, Cheryl Cook of Farmerville, Jerri Queen and husband David, and Jeani Cero and husband Casey, all of Grapevine, TX; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and two sisters, Aline Brazzel of Monroe and Helen Prince of Homer. Rev. William L. Worrell
Memorial services for The Rev. William L. Worrell, 74, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2001 at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer. Officiating will be The Rt. Rev. Robert J. Hargrove, Bishop, The Episcopal Diocese of Western Louisiana, The Rev. Edward M. Head, Jr., Rector, Church of the Redeemer, and The Rev. Stephen J. Waller, St. Thomas the Apostle, Dallas, Texas. Father Worrell died Sunday, October 14 in Ruston after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Savannah, Georgia and was ordained to the priesthood in St. John's Episcopal Church, Savannah, June 21, 1956. He served as curate of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Augusta, Georgia; Rector of St. John's, Bainbridge, Georgia and Director of the Conference Center for the Diocese of Georgia before accepting a call to the Church of the Redeemer, Ruston, in 1967. In addition to serving as Rector of the Redeemer, Father Worrell also served as the Episcopal Chaplain of Louisiana Tech University, and Grambling State University as well as Vicar of St. Luke's Chapel, Grambling. Especially active in diocesan affairs, Fr. Worrell served on Bishop and Council Committee, Executive Council, Commission on Ministry and as Dean of the Monroe Convocation. He resigned from the Church of the Redeemer in 1986 and accepted a call to the Episcopal Church of St. Michael's and All Angels' in Cuernavaca, Morelas, Mexico where he served as rector until he retired July 31, 1992. He returned to Ruston to live and continued as Rector Emeritus of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Ruston and as a supply clergyman throughout the Diocese of Western Louisiana until his health prevented his doing so. The Reverend Worrell attained his Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts at The University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee; his Bachelor of Divinity Degree in New Testament from the University of Chicago Divinity School. Other sites of his education were Armstrong College, Savannah, and General Theological Seminary in New York City. He was preceded in death by his mother Gladys Christian Worrell and his father Walter Worrell. He is survived by a brother, Walter Glenn Worrell and wife Imogene and a cousin, Frank M. Fitzgerald and wife Janice of Miami, Florida. He is also survived by a host of friends. Honorary pallbearers will be The Rt. Rev. Willis R. Henton, retired bishop of the Diocese of Western Louisiana and the Clergy of the Episcopal Diocese of Western Louisiana. Interment will be in the Laurel Grove Cemetery, Savannah. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church of the Redeemer, the American Heart Association or the charity of choice.

Don Caraway
Services for Don Caraway, 55, of Ruston will be conducted Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. at Ansley Union Church in Ansley, La. with Bro. Larry Hatcher and Bro. Lee Webb officiating. Interment will be in the Ansley Cemetery under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston. Mr. Caraway died Oct. 13 at Lincoln General Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was a member of Ansley Union Church and was a retired police officer assigned to Lincoln Parish TRIAD. Survivors include his wife of 20 years Elizabeth; parents, Morris and Becky Caraway of Ruston; a brother, Larry Caraway of Ruston; two sons, Darrell Caraway and wife Kathy, and Timothy Caraway, both of Ruston; four daughters, Natalie Taylor and husband Michael of Quitman, Jennifer Davis and husband Timothy of Choudrant, Jamie Willis and husband Scott of West Monroe and Emily Caraway of Ruston; and seven grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 14 at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Ruston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's or Ansley Union Church.

James William "Pete" Hennen, III
Services for James William "Pete" Hennen, III, 25, of Choudrant, LA will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2001 in Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel. Services are under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. James died Thursday, October 11, 2001 in Choudrant, LA following an accident. Survivors include his parents, Mary and James Hennen of Choudrant, LA; his brothers and sisters, Dakota Hennen, Jeremy Hennen, Malea Hennen, and Melanie Hennen Smith and husband Roy, all of Choudrant, LA; nephews, Christopher and Jonathan Smith; grandmothers, Reta Hennen and Ann Kilgore, both of Bossier City, LA; aunts, uncles, family and friends that send their loving wishes as he begins his new journey. Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2001 at the funeral home.

Mary Kennedy Duguid
Services for Mrs. Mary Kennedy Duguid, age 96, of Ruston, LA, formerly of Parish, IL, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 13, 2001 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Floyd Pate officiating. Cremation will follow the services. Mrs. Duguid was born on October 14, 1904 in Sussex, England and came to the United States in 1929 from Aberdeen, Scotland with her husband James and infant son, Gordon. She was a homemaker and a member of John Knox Presbyterian Church in Ruston. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James, a son, Gordon, and grandson, Scott. She is survived by a daughter, Beth and husband John, of Ruston, LA, son Jack and wife Judy, of Rogers, Ark., 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until service time at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, LA. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimers Association Northeast Louisiana Chapter and Hospice of Louisiana.

L. V. "Herc" Cunningham
Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, October 10, at 11:00 a.m. for L. V. "Herc" Cunningham, Jr. with visitation at the church starting at 9:30 a.m. until time of the service. Visitation will also be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home on Government Street on Tuesday, October 9, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetary. Those who knew Herc will remember him as a Christian Gentleman whose unfailing and sincere interest in people touched the lives of many. He had a kind and gentle spirit and never met a stranger. Herc, a long time resident of Baton Rouge, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2001 after a lengthy illness. He was born on February 28, 1921 in Celina, Texas to Lee Van and Jesse Pearl Garrison Cunningham. He is survived by his life long companion and wife, Betty Davis Cunningham, two daughters, Lauren Shea Cunningham Tucker and husband Glen of Alexandria, Virginia and Leah Adele Cunningham Hall and husband Courtney of Ruston, Louisiana, a sister Evan Jean Cunningham of Houston, Texas, and five grandchildren, Virginia Tucker, and Emily, Paige, David, and Stephen Hall. He was predeceased in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Jo Cunningham Ross. Herc graduated from Byrd High School in Shreveport and received a B. S. Degree in Engineering from Louisiana, Magna Cum Lauda, and his Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. He moved to Baton Rouge in the late 1940ties to work at the Exxon Refinery where he worked in the mechanical Engineering department for 38 years. Herc was very involved with his alma mater, Louisiana Tech. He was elected a Life Director of the Louisiana Tech Engineering Foundation. Herc was an active member of FIrst Presbyterian Church of Baton Rouge for over fifty years, having served as a deacon, elder, Sunday School teacher and greeter. He was well known and loved by church members because of his great devotion to the many ministries of First Presbyterian.

Mattie Imogene Watson Essex
Services for Mattie Imogene Watson Essex, 65, of Ruston, will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Cox Chapel-Lake Providence in Lake Providence, Louisiana with Rev. V. L. Dickson officiating. Interment will be at Providence Memorial Cemetary under the direction of Cox Funeral Home. She is survived by four sons, Michael W. Essex of Shreveport, Jackie E. Essex of Monroe, David T. Essex of Ruston, and James J. Essex of Lake Providence; three daughters, Robin Hopkins of Lake Providence, Susan Mitchell of Ruston, and Kathy Driver of Lake Providence; a sister, Frances McGlaughlin of Cabool, Missouri; 17 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Wayne Essex and son, Robert Andrew Essex. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Carey L. Ratcliff
Mr. Carey L. Ratcliff, 77, died Monday, October 1, at his home in Ennis. He was born May 18, 1924 in Shreveport, LA, the son of Louis and Loula Hochenedel Ratcliff. He was reared in Shreveport and was a graduate of Byrd High School. He then attended Jefferson Military College and Marion Military Institute. He served in the US Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He received the Philippine Liberation Medal with two Bronze Stars. He was discharged in 1946. He then attended Centenary College where he earned a degree in geology in 1949. On April 3, 1946 he was married to Kathryn Ashford of Natchez, MS. After their marriage they lived in Shreveport where he was employed by Lion Oil Co. in Shreveport from 1949 to 1970. In 1971 he was employed by the Department of the Interior as a geologist. He retired in 1987. In 1988 they moved to Ennis. He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Shreveport. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn, of Ennis; two sons and their wives, Carey and Ginger Ratcliff, Jr. of England, AR and Mike and Becky Ratcliff of Houston; a daughter and her husband, Mary and Tom Green of Ennis; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Forest Park East Cemetery in Shreveport with Rev. Jane Alexander officiating under the direction of J. E. Keever Mortuary. Memorials may be made to the Jefferson Street Methodist Church in Natchez.

Evelyn Cripps
Services for Evelyn Cripps, 75, of Simsboro, LA will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 4, 2001 at the South Parkway Worship Center. Officiating will be Rev. Larry Chapman, Rev. Tex Pruitt, Rev. Jim Oddo and Rev. Chris Witt. Interment will be in Oakgrove Cemetery (south of Simsboro) under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Mrs. Cripps died Monday, October 1, 2001 in Ruston, LA. She was a member of Open Door Apostolic Church. Evelyn was the loving and faithful wife of W. R. Cripps for nearly 58 years. She was the mother of eight children - 3 sons, Willie T. Cripps and wife Virginia of Jena, LA, Tim Cripps of Arcadia and Dennis Cripps of Simsboro; 5 daughters, Minnie Cripps, Martha Wells and husband Herbert (Buddy) Wells, Brenda Young and late husband Rev. Darrell Young, Patty Young and husband Victor Young, and Pam Cripps, all of Simsboro, LA; 19 grandchildren and one preceding her in death; 17 great grandchildren, and 2 expectant great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Beulah Brown and Bessie Stephens, both of Winnsboro, LA three nieces and one nephew and a great host of friends. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be grandsons. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2001 at the funeral home.
