Interment will be in Sibley Cemetery in Choudrant, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Mrs. Gibson died Tuesday, July 29, 2003 in Baton Rouge, LA. Beatrice was a native of Choudrant, LA prior to moving to Memphis, TN in 1935. She moved to Baton Rouge in 1998 and was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband James E. Gibson. Survivors include one brother, Rev. H. M. Roach of Jonesboro, LA; two sisters, Mrs. O. L. Lagrone of West Monroe, LA and Shirley Anderson of Choudrant, LA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be friends and family. Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until service time Friday, August 1, 2003 at the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband, Oscar Sutphen; children, Angela Rollins (Jimmy), Dorothy Shelton (James), Erin Sneed (Michael) and a host of other relatives and friends. Interment will be in Rock Corner Cemetery in Dubach under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Mr. Younse died Wednesday, July 30, 2003 in Ruston following a brief illness. He was a member and deacon at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Billy Sue Younse of Ruston; two daughters, Peggy Posey and husband Ronny of Choudrant and Patty Gay and husband Randy of Ruston; grandchildren, Laura Posey, Gene Posey and Will Gay; two sisters, Estelle Revels of Ruston and Faye Younse of Choudrant; one brother, Charley Royce Younse of Choudrant; and a host of other relatives and friends. Andy Hurst. Interment will be in Pines Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Connie died Tuesday, July 29, 2003 in Monroe, LA following a brief illness. She attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Ruston. She was retired from Central American Life Insurance Co. after 17 years of service and was also employed by Kilpatrick Funeral Home for a number of years. Survivors include two daughters, Renee Sessions and husband Donald of Sterlington, LA and Sherri Stevenson and husband Joe of Arcadia, LA; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; four brothers and four sisters; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Sam Ortego, Donnie Searcy, Danny Ponder, Stacey Guin, Wesley Foreman and Chris Lowery. Honorary pallbearer is Paul Martin. Services for Bess Mangham Morgan, 87, resident of Arcadia for the past 60 years, will be held Monday, July 28, 2003 in the Arcadia Chapel of the Rose-Neath Funeral Home at 1680 First Street. The Rev. Randy Ray and the Rev. Robert Peyton will officiate at the services with burial to follow in the Arcadia Cemetery. Mrs. Morgan died Thursday, July 24, 2003 in Shreveport. She was a homemaker and a member of the Hurricane Emmanuel Baptist Church. Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Elbert W. (Sam) Morgan and her parents and one sister. She is survived by two sons — Jack Morgan and his wife Connie of Minden and Robert Morgan Sr. and his wife Sharon of Simsboro; three daughters — JoAnn Williams and her husband Walter of Pine Bluff, Ark., Martha McHale and her husband Larry of Hot Springs Village, Ark. and Beth Hamilton and her husband Dennis of Haughton, La.; fourteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Jay Morgan, Sammy Morgan, Robert Morgan Jr., Brandon Morgan, Michael McHale and Eric Hamilton. Funeral services for Mrs. Kathlyn Quarles, age 88, of Ruston will be conducted at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at the Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Ruston. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston. Mrs. Quarles died Friday, July 25, 2003 in Arcadia. She is survived by her son, Bobby Quarles of Eunice, LA; her daughter, Carolyn Clewis of St. Louis, MO; her sister, Esther Whitten of Choudrant, LA; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband L. H. Quarles. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday July 28, 2003 at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Ruston.

Mrs. Lozelle Farley Harper
Services for Mrs. Lozelle Farley Harper, 96, of Ruston, LA will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2003 in the Burkhalter Chapel of Trinity United Methodist Church, with Rev. Fred Wideman and Rev. Micky Cloud officiating. Interment will be in the Farmerville City Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Mrs. Harper died Wednesday, July 23, in Ruston, LA following a lengthy illness. She was born October 9, 1906 in Hico, LA. She was a retired teacher who taught many years in Lincoln and Union parishes and for a short time in Arkansas. She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She worked as a volunteer for the Lincoln General Hospital Auxiliary and for Christian Community Action. She was a member of the Cosmos Club and a founding member of Farmerville's Garden Club. Frequently visiting nursing homes was just one of the many ways that she generously gave of her time; she loved helping others. Mrs. Harper was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph C. Harper, and her son, William Rodney Harper. Survivors include her grandson, William Griffith Harper of Bloomington, IN; her daughter-in-law, Laura Griffith Harper of Oxford, MS; her sister, Avon Gremillion of Shreveport, LA; her sister-in-law, Bertie Farley of Lubbock, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Hugh Burgess, Bob Franklin, Wayne Herren, Judge Robert "Robbie" James, Byron Judd, and Steve Napper. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Godspel Sunday School Class. Visitation will be Saturday, July 26, from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church Building Fund or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Christine J. Paige
Christine J. Paige, 59, of Ruston, Louisiana died Thursday, July 17, 2003 at her home of a short illness. Born January 8, 1944 in El Dorado, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Willie H. Paige and Willie Mae Paige. She was a recently retired educator at Grambling University in Grambling, Louisiana. Ms. Paige earned her Bachelor's Degree in English at Grambling, a Master's Degree in Reading from Louisiana Tech in Ruston, and did post-graduate studies in Reading at Grambling after graduating with honors at Washington High School. Her teaching career spanned over 35 years, beginning in Newport, Arkansas, and Watson Elementary and Barton Junior High Reading labs in El Dorado. At Grambling, she was a Specialist in Reading. She was very active at Lee Chapel AME Church while living in El Dorado. Christine sang in the choir, played piano, taught Sunday School, ACE League and directed the youth department in numerous plays and pageants. She also served and worked in churches after moving to Louisiana. She tutored students in reading at the James Johnson Boys Club. She was well-known as an excellent public speaker and received many awards for her service in the community. She published articles on the subject of Reading in major journals and periodicals while teaching at Grambling and working in the Doctoral Degree program. Ms. Paige was praised by her students as an excellent, caring teacher and mentor and remembers her as one who enriched their lives and prepared them to function responsibly in the world. She established the Willie H. Paige Scholarship Fund "to give hope to needy and deserving students" at Grambling. All who came in contact with Christine knew her as a person with a great sense of humor, as well as giving and loving. She is predeceased by her mother and father, a sister and a brother. Survivors include a brother, Calvin Paige (Clara); four sisters, Geraldine Jackson (Willie), Annie D. Jackson, Nora Paige Clark, all of El Dorado, and Dorothy Paige-Turner of Rockford, Illinois; a host of nieces, nephews and many loving relatives, friends and students. Homecoming celebrations will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at Douglas Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 969 Smackover Hwy 7, El Dorado, with Pastor D. L. Hegler officiating. Burial will be at Free Union Cemetery under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home of El Dorado. Public viewing will be from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 22 at Andrews Funeral Home, 1211 East Main, and 8 a.m. until 12 noon the day of the services. The family will be at the home of Geraldine Jackson, 2103 Helena, El Dorado, AR.

Robert McMillan Dowling
Services for Robert McMillan Dowling, 87, of Ruston, will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 18, 2003 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston with Rev. Dale Oden officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Robert McMillan Dowling was born July 7, 1916 in Oakdale, Louisiana, and passed away July 16, 2003 in Ruston. Mr. Dowling was saved by the Grace of our Lord at the age of 37. He served in his prior church for 44 years in many capacities. Due to health he made Deacon Emeritus. He became a member of Temple Baptist Church in 1998. He was in the grocery business for 32 years and the motel business for approximately 10 years. Mr. Dowling was a veteran of WWII and was a member of V.F.W. and the American Legion. He landed in North Africa then to Italy and saw service in Rome Campaign, invasion of Southern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded ATO medal, EAMETO medal, WWII Victory medal, Bronze Star medal, and Honorable Discharge. Mr. Dowling was preceded in death by his father, Walter Tucker Dowling; mother, Mattie May McMillan Dowling; brothers, L. W. Dowling, Clayton Dowling, W. D. Dowling; sisters, Iva Dowling Hammel and Betty Vera Dowling. He is survived by his loving wife of over 40 years, Narvis Davidson Dowling; a son, John Robert Dowling; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Prentis Lee, Ed Spiller, Ronald Crawford, Michael Baxter, Ben Bledsoe, and Leonard Faulkner. Honorary pallbearers are Francis Stephenson and Glen Hunt. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2003 at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Douglas Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Berna Lee Vernon White was born January 26, 1910. She passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2003 at Lincoln General Hospital. She was a kind and loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward A. White; her son, John Edward White; her parents, Gordon and Lena Vernon; and brothers, John and Wilber Vernon. She is survived by a daughter, Vivian Gaskins and husband Bill; daughter-in-law, Anne C. White; grandsons, Gary Gaskins and wife Gay, all of Shreveport, John Gaskins of Jacksonville, Fla.; and seven great grandchildren. Services for John Glenn "Bush" Fuller, 71, of Dubach will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 17, 2003 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Barry Joyner officiating. Interment will be in Hamilton Cemetery in Dubach under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Mr. Fuller died Tuesday, July 15, 2003 in Willis Knighton-North Hospital in Shreveport following a brief illness. Mr. Fuller was a member of First Baptist Church of Dubach. He was retired from Southwest Gas and Kerr McGee. He was preceded in death by his mother Iva Fuller and sisters, Rosa Reynolds and Jeanette Drewry. He is survived by his wife, Kittylu Davis Fuller of Dubach; children, Sandra Wilkie and husband Bob, and their children Leah, Melissa, and John of Minden, Libby Takacs and husband Bill, and their sons Trey and Travis of Tomball, Texas, Stan Fuller and wife Lynette, and their children Hunter, Jake and Jennifer Rhodes of Farmerville, William Fuller and wife Jan, and their son Ben of Ruston; father-in-law, L. C. Davis of Dubach; brother, Charles Fuller and wife Larnel of Ruston; sister, JoAnn Holtzclaw and husband Mark of Ruston. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Dubach. Joseph D. McCallister
Services for Joseph D. McCallister, 72, of Ruston, LA will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2003 at the China Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. McCallister died July 11, 2003. He was a Recreation Assistant at Grambling State University. He is preceded in death by his father, Dave English McCallister, his mother, Willie McCallister, and brothers, James Vernon McCallister and Willie Dave McCallister. Survivors include his wife, Rachel McCallister; two children, Valerie Barr (Robert Barr) and Myra Nelson (Richard Nelson); four grandchildren, Kristi Barr, Robert Barr, Joseph Lewis, and Richard Nelson; and four sisters, Leslie Howard, Laura Spivey, Pearlie Ruccker and Elizabeth Talton. A wake will be held July 18, 2003 from 6 until 7 p.m. at the B. E. King Chapel in Ruston, LA. The body will lie in state from 1:00 until funeral time on July 19, 2003.

Mrs. J. C. Roberts
Mrs. J. C. Roberts (Velda Mae Liner) passed away at Longleaf Nurse Care Center on Monday, July 14, 2003. She had been bedridden the last four years of her life due to a stroke. Mammaw was born on August 14, 1916, and lived her entire life in the Lincoln Parish area. She was one of three children born to the late John Willie Liner and Kate Williamson Liner. Her husband of 37 years, J. C. Roberts, and brothers, Vern Liner and Roy Liner, preceded her in death. Mrs. Roberts spent her adult life helping raise a family of two sons and three daughters and then later, her numerous grandchildren. Over a period of 3 generations, she became affectionately known as Mammaw Roberts by the countless number of children she kept in her home on a daily basis. Survivors include her children, Shirley Lunsford (Richard), Billy Ray Davis (J-Nell), John C. Roberts (Karen), Sharon Villarreal (Poncho), Karen Audirsch (David); grandchildren, Sandra Shambro, Steve Lunsford, Chris Davis, Joey Roberts, Brian Davis, Allison Jackson, Matt Davis, David Audirsch, Andrea Underwood, and Jeremy Underwood; great grandchildren, John David Alexander, Tyler Shambro, Brandon Davis, Savannah Davis, Alexis Davis, Cole Roberts, Joshua Roberts, Dustin Jackson, Corey Jackson, Lindsey Lunsford, and Jeremy Lunsford; great great grandchild, Gracie Alexander; nephew, James Douglas Liner; and niece, Charlene Bridwell. Services will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2003 in the Chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home at 2 o'clock in the afternoon and will be conducted by Bro. Leonard H. Free. Connie Villarreal will be the soloist. Interment will be at Mineral Springs Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reginald Canterbury. Dr. Bobby Gene Campbell
Services for Dr. Bobby Gene Campbell, 70, of Ruston, LA will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2003 in the Emmanuel Baptist Church. Officiating will be Dr. Michael Hawley. Interment will be in Fellowship Cemetery in Dubach under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Dr. Campbell died Thursday, July 10, 2003 in West Monroe, LA. Dr. Campbell was born on August 24, 1932 to Bob and Avis Campbell of Dubach. A long-time educator of Lincoln Parish schools and Louisiana Tech, he was a graduate of Dubach High School, Louisiana Tech University, and the University of Oklahoma. He served as a pilot in the U. S. Air Force, was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, and was a member of the Ruston Lion's Club for many years. Dr. Campbell was an avid outdoorsman and a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Dr. Campbell was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Don Campbell. Services for Mrs. Bonita M. Heard, 70, of Minden, LA will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 11, 2003 in the Gibsland First Baptist Church. Officiating will be Dr. Richard May assisted by Rev. Lamar Skinner. Interment will be in Camp Ground Cemetery near Bienville, LA under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home of Arcadia. Mrs. Heard died July 5, 2003 in the Minden Medical Center. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Johnny G. Heard of Minden, LA; daughter, Tammy Heard Singleton and husband Ken of Arcadia, LA; brother, Wade "Hamp" Murphy of Bienville, LA; sister, Marlene Clary of Bienville, LA; and a grandson, John Chandler Singleton of Arcadia, LA. Pallbearers will be W. H. Murphy, Jr., Ronnie G. Murphy, Keith Singleton, Kendal Singleton, Billy New and James Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will be the Gibsland First Baptist Church Deacons. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gibsland First Baptist Church Organ Fund.

Daniel Luther Hammons
Services for Mr. Daniel Luther Hammons, age 91, of Dubach, LA will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2003 at Fellowship Baptist Church, Dubach, LA, with Rev. Dick Paige officiating. Burial will be in Fellowship Cemetery in Dubach under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston. Mr. Hammons died Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston. He is survived by two sons, Luther D. Hammons of Clay, LA and Jimmy Hammons of Dubach, LA; three daughters, Evelyn Taylor of Homer, LA, Nancy Gay of Ruston, LA and Lois Franklin of Magnolia, AR; fifteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Steven and Daniel Hammons, Randy and Chris Gay, Darrell Taylor and Scott Franklin. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Juanita K. (Bryce) Hammons
Juanita K. (Bryce) Hammons, 80, of Dunwoody, GA died Tuesday, July 1, 2003. A Shreveport native, she was a graduate of Louisiana Tech in Ruston, where she was a cheerleader, majorette, and member of the Phi Mu Sorority. Survivors include her husband, Del Hammons; one son, Jack B. Hammons; two daughters, Dane Marshall and Dee Dee Freeman; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2003 at Kingswood United Methodist Church, 5051 Tilly Mill Road, Dunwoody, GA. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, or the American Diabetes Association. Services are under the direction of Medford-Peden Funeral Home, Marietta, GA.

Margaret W. Galloway
Margaret W. Galloway, 62, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma died Saturday, June 28, 2003. She was born on November 20, 1940 in Shreveport, LA to Willis T. and Mattie W. Wyche. She married James L. Galloway of Arcadia, LA on February 12, 1960. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, James Bruce Galloway. Survivors include her husband, Jim; son, Willis Brian and wife Robin Galloway of Broken Arrow; daughter, Mary Beth and husband Jeremy Zeman of Tulsa; grandchildren, Cameron Reece and Casey Margaret. Funeral services were held July 1, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Broken Arrow. Burial was in Floral Haven Memorial Garden. The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 6440 South Lewis, Suite 100, Tulsa, OK 74136, Hayhurst, OK.

Paul D. Otwell
Services for Paul D. Otwell, 67, of Dubach, LA will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2003 in the Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Lindy Brown. Interment will be in Mineral Springs Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Mr. Otwell died Monday, June 30, 2003 in Ruston following a lengthy illness. Survivors include his children, Vickie Otwell Bassett and husband Billy of Shreveport, LA, Jeffrey D. Otwell of Dubach, LA, James Otwell of Rison, AR, Shane Otwell and wife Holly of Choudrant, LA and Keith Otwell of Dubach, LA; brothers and sisters, Billy Mack Otwell and wife Anita of Dubach, LA, Margie Otwell Brown of Dubach, LA, Harold Otwell and wife Glenda of Hico, LA, Donna Otwell Foster and husband Sonny of Hico, LA and Roger Otwell and wife Crystal of Monroe, LA; fourteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Greg Brown, Zach Otwell, Mark Pennington, Brian Pennington, Trey Hinson and Don Dufour. Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at the funeral home.

Sandra Sue Bates
Sandra Sue Bates, 63, of New Concord, died July 1, 2003 at her home. She was born February 5, 1939 in Caldwell, a daughter of the late Harry G. and Mary McLeod Richcreek. Mrs. Bates was a retired teacher having taught in Caldwell, Warren, and New Concord. She was a former teacher and media coordinator in the East Muskingum Schools. She was recently named East Muskingum's First Recipient of the "Master Teacher Award" by the Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center and East Muskingum Schools. She earned a Bachelors and Masters Degree from Ohio University. She was a member of the New Concord United Methodist Church, New Concord and The Retired Teachers' Association. She loved antiquing and traveling with her family. She is survived by her husband, Sam N. Bates; two sons, Randy (Tracey) Bates, Ruston, LA and Rick (Shelley) Bates, Lancaster; five granddaughters, Samantha Marie, Alexandra Marie, Olivia Jane, McKenzie Alyssa, and Skyler Ariana; one sister, Marianne (Jim) Rae, Marietta; and four nieces. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Richcreek. Visitation will be Thursday, July 3, 2003 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. at the Rock-Miller Funeral Home, 63 West Main Street, New Concord. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 4, 2003 at the New Concord United Methodist Church, 20 East High Street, New Concord with Pastor Doug Winner officiating. Burial will be in Olive Cemetery, Caldwell. Memorial contributions may be made to the East Muskingum Schools Endowment Fund, c/o District Office, 13505 John Glenn High School Road, New Concord, Ohio 43762.

Dr. Monticello Jefferson Howell
Dr. Monticello Jefferson Howell was born on August 25, 1913 to James Edward Howell and Dolly Mozella Forrest Howell in rural Cabarrus County, North Carolina. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age. From his earliest years, the stories of Jesus shared at home and in the Ebenezer community formed and shaped his life. His strong faith in Jesus Christ provided the strength and guidance for all of his accomplishments in life. He and his family were faithful members of St. James AME Zion Church in Salisbury, MD and Lewis Temple CME Church in Grambling, LA where all became actively involved. He served as a steward on the Steward Board, member of the Finance Committee, member of the Board of Christian Education, member of the Senior Choir, and President of the Male Chorus. He regularly attended quarterly conferences, district conferences, and annual conferences. His pride and joy was singing with the Male Chorus and the Senior Choir and helping to keep its members together. He was a strong financial supporter of the Grambling Christian Center from which he attained strong spiritual growth through the bible studies, prayer breakfasts, and prayer services. He also received spiritual growth in bible studies and prayer under Dr. John Githiga at St. Luke Episcopal Church of Grambling, LA. His thirst to grow in knowledge and in relationship with Jesus never waned throughout his life. He was the valedictorian of his graduating class at Logan High School, Concord, NC. He earned his Bachelorís Degree in Horticulture from Hampton Institute. At Hampton, he was selected to be a part of octets that traveled the Eastern Seaboard singing to raise funds for Hampton. One of the highlights of his later life was receiving a medal for helping to raise funds to keep Hampton viable. He received his Masterís Degree in Horticulture and Doctor's of Philosophy Degree in Horticulture from Michigan State University, Lansing, MI. He had articles published in scientific journals about his findings on flowering the sweet potato. He taught Horticulture at the following colleges during his teaching career: Bishop College in Marshall, TX; North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, NC; Maryland State College, Princess Anne, MD; Grambling State University, Grambling, LA; and Louisiana Tech University, Ruston, LA. He also completed post-doctoral studies and research at the University of California, Davis, CA. He retired from Grambling State University in 1983 after 24 years of service. He has a large number of students who fondly recall their studies with him. He was also the owner of Howell Horticultural Services that sold trees, shrubberies, and other potted plants. He was involved in the following civic organizations: Boy Scouts of America; NAACP; Lincoln Parish Voters League; Louisiana Federation of Teachers; Ruston Alliance for Mental Illness; and Grambling Unit of Retired Teachers. He was honored by the Ouachita Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America with the Silver Beaver Award in 1976. Dr. Howell entered into eternal rest on June 25, 2003. His loved ones to cherish and continue his story are his loving wife of forty-six years, Mary Bernetta Allen Howell; sons - Lyman Clayton Howell (Brenda) of Chicago, IL and Keith Douglas Howell (Lovie) of Grand Prairie, TX; daughters, Glenda Leora Howell of Garland, TX and Dollie Marie Howell Pankey (Vincent) of Fort Worth, TX; grandsons, Keith, II, Jarrett, Daniel, and Jordan; Louisiana "brother and sister", Spaulding & Ineatha Ruffin and family; Grambling "brother and sister", Leon and Clarice Whittaker and family; "adopted" children, Stanley Bullock and Melody Gamblin-Bullock; many adoring nieces and nephews; many loving cousins; and a multitude of friends and former students. The family will receive friends at Our Christian Funeral Home this evening between 6 and 7 p.m. The funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, July 1st at 10:00 a.m. at Lewis Temple CME Church on North Main Street in Grambling. Burial will follow at Grambling Memorial Garden.
