Rev. Henry Hamilton, Sr.
Rev. Henry Hamilton, Sr., born June 5, 1956 in Monroe, LA passed away peacefully on February 6, 2004. He was the loving husband of Glenna Hamilton; one daughter, Arleatta Hamilton and one son, Henry Hamilton, II of Oakland, CA; his parents, William (Sam) and Betty Caldwell; grandson of Bertha Hamilton of Ruston, LA; nephew of Mattie West, Johnnie Ray Hamilton and Billie Ray Hamilton of Monroe, LA; and a host of other relatives and friends. A quiet hour was held at C. P. Bannon Mortuary in Oakland, CA at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2004. Services were held at the Paradise Baptist Church, 9704 Empire Road, Oakland, CA at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 12, 2004.

Buford Albert Williams
Funeral services for Buford Albert Williams will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2004 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Dr. Michael Hawley. Interment will follow at Pines Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2004 at the funeral home. Buford Albert Williams passed away on February 9, 2004 at Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston, LA following a brief battle with colon cancer. He was 79. Mr. Williams was born in Downsville, LA on February 26, 1924, to Arthur Lamar and Mattie Rebecca Robinson Williams. In 1949, he married Irene Baggarly, and in 1951 they had one son, James Michael "Mike" Williams. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by both his wife and son. A longtime resident of Ruston, Mr. Williams was a boiler operator and had retired from Chevron Oil Company (Hico Plant) and Louisiana Tech University power plant. Most recently, Mr. Williams resided in Alpine Guest Care where he was known for his singing of old songs like "Ole Buttermilk Sky" and for his storytelling, especially his memories of people and events in rural North Louisiana. Mr. Williams is survived by his beloved grandson, Christopher Paul Williams of Ruston and Chris's mother, Rebecca McGinnis Williams of Shreveport. To his family and friends, Mr. Williams was known as "Pop" and will always be remembered as being "10 feet tall and bullet-proof". The family would like to thank Drs. Christa Mars, Jill Bordelon and Sean McIntire and the staff at Alpine Guest Care, Green Clinic chemo lab, and Lincoln General Hospital progressive care unit for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society.

Services for Kimberly Krae Madden, 39, of Simsboro, LA will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2004 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Richard Abel officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. Mrs. Madden passed away Saturday, February 7, 2004 as the result of an automobile accident. She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Kennimer. Funeral services for Mrs. Eleanor Ann Gilbert, 70, will be held at Cook Baptist Church in Ruston, LA on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Dr. David Newberry will officiate. Interment will follow in Pines Memorial Gardens in Ruston, LA. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston on Monday, February 9. Mrs. Gilbert was born on November 21, 1933 in Amarillo, Texas and passed away Sunday, February 8, in Shreveport, LA after a lengthy illness. She has been a resident of Ruston, LA for the past 38 years. She is a longtime member of Cook Baptist Church. Mrs. Gilbert attended West Texas State University where she received her B.A. in education. She received her M.A. in education from Louisiana Tech University. She dedicated 32 years to her career in education serving at Ruston High School as a teacher, Glenview Junior High as assistant principal and Hillcrest Elementary as principal. Mrs. Gilbert served as president for the Louisiana Association of Educators, served on the board of LA-PAC and various local and state educational policy committees. She was also active in lobbying the Louisiana State Legislature for teacher and student enhancement programs. She was named Principal of the Year for Lincoln Parish during her tenure at Hillcrest Elementary. Mrs. Gilbert is preceded in death by her mother, Ada Lee Clark Wortham. She is survived by her husband, James Harold Gilbert; sons, Dr. Timothy Clark Gilbert and wife Karen of Bossier City, LA and Dr. Steven Todd Gilbert and wife Elizabeth of Almaty, Kazakhstan; grandchildren, Anisa Paige Gilbert McCarthy and husband Trent of Baton Rouge, LA, Sarah Elizabeth Gilbert, Anna Bethany Gilbert, James David Gilbert and Abigail Joy Gilbert, all of Almaty, Kazakhstan; great granddaughter, Madisyn Paige Gilbert McCarthy of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and one aunt, Betty Morrison and husband Gene of Canyon, TX. Jesse James Riser
Funeral services for Jesse James Riser were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Temple Baptist Church. Officiating was Rev. Dale Oden, Dr. Doug McGuire and Dr. T. David Willetts. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery. Mr. Riser was born in Ruston on November 2, 1912 and passed away on February 7, 2004 at Longleaf Care Center. Jesse Riser was a public servant, having served as a Ruston policeman, Chief of Police, Lincoln Parish deputy sheriff, and Sheriff. He was Lincoln Parish Sheriff from 1956-1976. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Louise Howell Riser; daughters, Margaret Ann James and husband Ben James, Antionette Anderson and husband James Anderson; grandchildren, Benji James, Kathy J. Booth, Amy James, Al James, Laura A. Thompson, and Beth A. Maddox. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Ben James, James Anderson, Benji James, Al James, James Fallin, Wayne Houck, Mike Stone, Curtis Tubbs, and Don Tippit. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Lincoln Parish Sheriff's Department. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Temple Baptist Church Building Fund or Louisiana Methodist Children's Home. Interment will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery. Mr. Barton passed away Thursday, February 5, 2004 at his residence. He was a self employed landscaper and a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He is survived by his wife, Olive Harris Barton of Ruston, LA; his son, Michael Anthony Barton of Austin, TX; his daughter, Dana Rachelle Barton of Littleton, CO; sisters, Brenda Griffith of Dubach, LA and Susie Marsh of West Monroe, LA; and his half sister, Tammy Webster of Tyler, TX. Mr. Linegar passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2004 at Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston. He was retired from the U. S. Army with 25 years of service and then retired from the Washington Naval Shipyard in D.C. He was preceded in death by his son, Carthel Ward Linegar, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Linegar of Ruston, LA; step-son, Lt. Joshua W. Services for Doris "Dorrie" Gallagher, 73, of Ruston, LA will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2004 in the Chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Officiating will be Rev. Stan Pody. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Mrs. Gallagher died Tuesday, February 3, 2004 in Ruston, LA. She was a member of the Faith Christian Center. Survivors include her husband, Willie Gallagher of Ruston, LA; one daughter, Mary Ann Giraldi and husband Paul of Rarinton, NJ; four sisters, Margaret Thompson of Chalton, FL, Dott Dempsey and Nell Turner, both of Plant City, FL and Ruby Fultz of Tampa, FL; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Neil Aubrey Wright, Sr.
Neil Aubrey Wright, Sr. died at 9:15 p.m. Sunday, February 1, 2004 at his home in St. Francisville. He was a retired electrician with the U. S. Department of Defense. He was born February 8, 1917 in Lincoln Parish, and was a former longtime resident of Bossier City. Mr. Wright attended Louisiana Tech before joining the U. S. Army Air Corps and served in World War II. He was a member of the Curtis T. Hines Lodge #317 F&AM in Tioga, LA. Visitation will be at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, 209 Bonner St., Ruston, from 12:30 p.m. Friday until religious service at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Farmerville. He is survived by his wife, Edith Johnson Wright, St. Francisville; a daughter, Donna Wright Lee Pitts and husband David R. Pitts, St. Francisville; a son, Neil Aubrey Wright, Jr. and wife Rebecca Jean Smith-Wright, Phoenix; and three grandchildren, Lauren J. Lee and husband Mike Mascaro, Baton Rouge, Sarah Kinney Wright, Winchester, CA, and Ryan Matthews Wright, Vista, CA. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Lewis Thomas Wright and Lillian Estelle Matthews Wright Connell. Mr. Borland died Monday, February 2, 2004. He was preceded in death by his parents, Foster Vicent Borland and Minnie Zora Borland. Survivors include his wife, Maxine Tinker Borland (they would have been married 57 years on February 24); one son, Jesse V. Borland; one daughter, Juanita B. Robinson; an aunt, Anne B. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Mrs. Kay, a homemaker, passed away Monday, February 2, 2004 in Ruston. She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Kay and son, John P. Kay. Survivors include her daughter, Nelda Kay Herren and husband Wayne of Vienna; daughter-in-law, Ann R. Stevon "Stevo" Owens
Services for Stevon "Stevo" Owens, 42, of Dubach, LA will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2004 at The Church of the Apostles in Ruston under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Oddo officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Ruston. Stevo was a member of Church of the Apostles. He was currently employed with Highlines Construction as a Class A Lineman and previously at Ruston Light and Power. He was born in Lafayette and a 1979 graduate of Ruston High School. He was a very accomplished hunter and fisherman and enjoyed working in his garden. He loved his family and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, A. G., Sr. and Emma Lou "Meme" Owens and James and Mary Elizabeth "Bo" Kiper. He is survived by his wife, Mickie Owens; son, Kendal Owens; daughter, Miranda Owens; father, A. G. Owens, Jr. and wife B. J.; mother, Lissa Thompson and husband Tommy; two brothers, Blain Owens and wife Sherry and Chris Womack and wife Misty; three sisters, Loren Jarmon and husband Eddie, Lorissa Owens and Delaine Anderson and husband Val; uncle, Wayne Owens and wife Carol; aunt, Pam Ware and husband Bill; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. McCaa was a devoted man of God and loving husband and father. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a retired auto appraiser. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Melba Chloe Patterson Pugh
Melba Chloe Patterson Pugh, age 84, wife of Terry A. Pugh, passed away on January 25, 2004. She was born in Farmerville, Louisiana and was the daughter of the late Henry Aylmer and Rosa Rhodes Patterson. She was a devoted wife for more than 50 years, a loving mother, a dedicated homemaker and a servant for the Lord. At the time of her death she was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Ruston. Before her lengthy illness, she was an active member of her church. Her other interests included volunteer work in various charitable organizations such as the Candy Stripers, and membership in several Garden Clubs. Surviving are three children, Terri Pugh LaFore of Raleigh, North Carolina, Rosemary Pugh Butler and her husband Douglas A. Butler, Sr. of Greenville, South Carolina, and Wayne K. Pugh of Hopkinton, Massachusetts; five grandchildren, Virginia Rose, Paul Terry, and Tracey Lauren LaFore, Rachel Anne and Douglas Alexander Butler, Jr.; two sisters, Mrs. Annette Patterson Wade and Mrs. Mary Ruth Patterson Futch; and a brother, Henry Warren Patterson. She is predeceased by a sister, Marie Patterson McTernen and two brothers, Aylmer Rayoule Patterson and Carl Rhodes Patterson. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 31, 2004 by Dr. Michael Hawley in Emmanuel Baptist Church in Ruston with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, January 30, 2004 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Viola Marie Domangue Houck
Services for Viola Marie Domangue Houck, 80, of Hico, LA were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2004 in the Harmony Chapel United Methodist Church in Hico. Officiating was Rev. Dick Paige, Rev. Phillip Farris, and Rev. Betty Northern. Interment was in the Harmony Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Mrs. Houck died Thursday, January 22, 2004 in Bernice, LA after a sudden illness. Mrs. Houck was a resident of Hico. She was a longtime member of Harmony Chapel United Methodist Church and an honorary member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Bernice. She was a loving wife, Mama, and Mamaw. Mrs. Houck was preceded in death by her husband, O. A. Houck; children, Jimmy Houck, Johnnie Houck, Christine Houck and Charlotte Delony. Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Grafton and husband Donny of Bernice, LA, Patsy Roden and husband Carroll of Emerson, AR and Cindy Hockenjos and husband Spooky of Crossroads, LA; two sons, Ricky Houck and fiance' Ann Ambrose of Hico, LA and Harvey Houck and fiance' Linda Johnson of Corinth, LA; one brother, Dennis Domangue of Lafayette, LA; fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harmony Chapel United Methodist Church General Fund.

Eunice Marie Guerin Grigsby
Eunice Marie Guerin Grigsby, 88, of Crossett, Ark., passed away on January 23, 2004. She was born on May 28, 1915, in Benton, Ark., to her parents, Williams Albert and Nettie Virgil Guerin. Mrs. Grigsby attended Garland Elementary, Westside Junior High School and was a 1933 graduate of Little Rock High School. She earned an associates degree from Central Baptist Junior College in Conway. Mrs. Grigsby served diligently as the church secretary of Immanuel Baptist Church. She was the secretary to Mr. L. Bruce Jones, director of the Louisiana State University Golden Tiger Marching Band. Mrs. Grigsby earned a B.A. degree in Elementary education at Arkansas Agricultural and Mechanical College at Monticello and her M.Ed. at Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, LA. As a child she was a member of the Order of the Rainbow for girls in Little Rock. Mrs. Grigsby was an elementary teacher in the Crossett Public Schools and the Rapides Parish Schools in Alexandra, LA. She was an active member of Alpha Delta Kappa and enjoyed traveling the United States and Canada as a long time member of the Wally Byam Caravan Club. Mrs. Grigsby was a member and board member of the National Grigsby Family Society and assistant editor of the Southwest Church of Crossett. Mrs. Grigsby was preceded in death by an infant sister, Sarah Juanita Guerin. Survivors include: Her husband of 53 years, Hoy C. Grigsby of Crossett, Ark.; two sons, Steven R. Grigsby and wife, Margie, Dr. Benson A. Grigsby and wife, Diana, all of Ruston; one daughter, Nancy G. Powell and husband, John of Baton Rouge; three grandchildren, Jennifer G. Buckner and husband Paul of College Station, Texas, Sarah Grigsby and Guerin Grigsby, both of Ruston; and one sister, Billie June Guerin Sharp and husband Ike of Arkadelphia, Ark. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004 at First Baptist Church of Crossett with Rev. Larry White officiating. Interment will be at 1 p.m., Monday, January 26, 2004 at Madden Cemetery in Bienville Parish, LA under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the building fund of First Baptist Church, 701 Main, Crossett, AR, 71635. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Saturday, January 24, 2004 at Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.

William P. Keith
William P. Keith, 63, of Magnolia, AR died January 23, 2004 at Health South Rehabilitation Hospital in Ruston, LA. He was born October 27, 1940 in the Sharman Community to the late Felbert and Bertha Dix Keith. He was Co-Owner of Zark Aluminum and a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife, Melba Lewis Keith of Magnolia, AR; two daughters, Kellye Ratcliff and husband Wade and LeAnn Patterson and husband Cole, both of Ruston, LA; one sister, Linda Keith of Beloit, Wi; three granddaughters, Marley and Sydney Ratcliff and Abby Patterson. Services will be Monday, January 26, 2004 with a graveside at 10:00 a.m. at Sharman Cemetery and a memorial service following at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church. Bro. David Watkins will officiate with Bro. Richard Walters assisting, under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia, AR. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or to charity of the donor's choice.

Carolyn Leachman
Services for Carolyn Leachman, 71, of Ruston, LA will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 23, 2004 at Rock Corner Baptist Church in Dubach under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, Ruston, with Rev. Charles Harlon officiating. Interment will follow in the Rock Corner Cemetery, Dubach. Mrs. Leachman passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in Monroe. She was a retired telephone operator and a member of Eastern Star and Telephone Pioneers of America. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, J. B. Leachman and daughter, Carolyn Lynn Leachman, both of Ruston. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rock Corner Fellowship Hall Building Fund.

Billye Joyce Oxford Hinton
Services for Mrs. Billye Joyce Oxford Hinton, 78, of Ruston, LA will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 23, 2004 at Clay United Methodist Church with Pastor Johnny Kavanaugh, assisted by Pastor Genny Hoyt. Interment will follow in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Mrs. Hinton died January 19, 2004 at Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston, LA. She was born in Rochelle, Texas on January 11, 1926, the last child of Kenneth Fannin Oxford and Willie Beatrice Kinman Oxford. She was a lifelong resident of Clay, LA and a member of the Clay United Methodist Church. Mrs. Hinton was a retired nurse from the Intensive Care Unit of Lincoln General Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Billy A. Hinton, brother, Burleigh Oxford, sisters, Margaret Reed Ellis and Genevive Corley, and her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Joy Telford and her husband Brody of Ruston; son, Douglas Hinton and wife Donna of Jacksonville, Florida; daughter, Carole Davis and her husband Mike of Ft. Collins, Colorado; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; and her sister-in-law, Gerry Oxford of Baton Rouge, LA. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.
