Helen P. Keegan
Thursday, December 6, 2001
Helen P. (O'Connor) Keegan of Falmouth and formerly of Andover, died Sunday, Nov. 25 at JML Care Center in Falmouth.

Mrs. Keegan was the co-founder and director of St. Robert's Country Day School in Andover, where she worked from 1970 to 1993.

She was a graduate of Bridgewater State College and Mills College of Oakland, Calif. She was a teacher in Somerville and Falmouth, Maine school systems.

Mrs. Keegan retired to Falmouth in 1992, where she was an active member and Eucharistic Minister of Christ the King Parish in Mashpee, an officer of the Women's Club and a co-chairperson of the 50-Plus Club.

Mrs. Keegan was also a past secretary and publicity chairperson of the Falmouth Newcomers Club.

Members of her family include her husband of 42 years, Harold O. Keegan; sons, Owen Keegan of Arlington, Va. and Vincent Keegan of Potomac, Md.; and daughters, Patrice Heffernan of Lancaster and Maura Fairbanks of Bristol, R.I.

Arrangements were by John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Road, Marston Mills.

Olga Holman

Olga (Olsen) Holman, 88, of Boxford, died Monday, Dec. 3 at home.

Born and educated in Bogota, N.J., she attended Donovan Business School in Hackensack, N.J.

Mrs. Holman was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Andover, where she was active on various church committees. She lived in Boxford for the past nine years, having formerly lived in Groveland, Andover and Haverhill.

She was the widow of Arthur C. Holman. Members of her family include a stepson, Bruce A. Holman of Maybrook, of New York; a stepdaughter, Lynne Holman of Phoenix, Ariz.; sisters, Helen Rice of River Edge, N.J., and Marion Winant of Leonia, N.J.; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 360 S. Main St., Andover, 01810.

Services will be at the convenience of the family.

Janet D. Allen

Janet D. (Bedley) Allen, 71, of Andover, died Saturday, Dec. 1 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Born in Stoneham and educated in Woburn, Mrs. Allen was a homemaker. She previously lived in Reading, and lived in Andover the past six years.

Members of her family include her husband, William R. Allen; daughters and their husbands, Janet and Paul Moroney of North Andover, JoAnne and David Oram of Woburn, Kathy and Gordon Whittaker of Reading, Joyce and Zaki Nakhoul of Reading, Jennifer and Stephen Piantedosi of Leominster, and Cynthia and William Grant of Billerica; sons and their wives, William R. Jr. and Ginger Allen of Reading, Robert and Nancy Allen of Westford; brother, Ralph Bedley of Georgia; sister, Sally Harvey of Orange; 20 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

A. Sidney Roth

A. Sidney Roth, 85, of Andover and formerly of Palm Beach, Fla. and Massapequa, Long Island, N.Y., died Thursday, Dec. 6 at Wingate at Andover.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., he attended Poly Prep Country Day School and graduated from Cornell University, where he was an all-American football player.

As president of several construction companies, he was one of the largest home builders on Long Island. He also built apartment buildings and shopping centers. He was former president of the Long Island Association of Home Builders.

Mr. Roth served in the Navy during World War II and was an active volunteer in various Jewish organizations. He was formerly on the Board of the Habilitation Center in Palm Beach.

He was the widower of Selma (Halpert) Roth, his wife of 58 years.

Members of his family include his daughter and her husband, Leslie and David Silverstein of Andover; sons and their wives, Jonathan and Barbara Roth of Westport, Conn. and Peter and Amy Roth of Rochester, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren, including Scott and Brett Silverstein of Andover.

Blanche M. Jouret

Blanche M. (LaFleur) Jouret, 101, of Andover, died Wednesday, Dec. 5 at Wingate Nursing Home.

Born in Norwich, Conn., she was raised and educated in Connecticut.

Mrs. Jouret lived in Andover for more than 60 years. She was a member of St. Augustine Church. Many of her friends and family attended her 100th birthday party last year in Andover, which was reported in the Townsman.

She was the widow of Edward C. Jouret.

Members of her family include her grandchildren, Patricia A. (McParland) and her husband, Billy D. Flowers, of Melrose, Edward F. McParland of Lowell and Jacqueline Jouret of Gladstone, Ore.; great-grandsons, Cameron and Kevin Flowers; son-in-law Francis H. McParland of Andover; and daughter-in-law, Shirley Jouret of Gladstone. She was also mother of the late Marilyn J. McParland and John E. Jouret.

Ruth E. MacDonald

Ruth E. (Anderson) MacDonald, 74, of Andover, died Friday, Dec. 7 at Lawrence General Hospital.

Mrs. MacDonald was a lifelong Andover resident. She was a clerk of Ad King Inc. for the last 20 years.

She graduated from Punchard High School in 1945 and Kathleen Dell Secretarial School in Boston in 1947.

Members of her family include her husband of 53 years, David MacDonald; sons and daughters-in-law, Geoffrey and Rosemary MacDonald and Peter and Lisa MacDonald, all of Andover; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Joseph Pucillo

Joseph "Whitey" Pucillo, 82, of Methuen, died Thursday, Dec. 6 at Academy Manor Nursing Home in Andover.

He was born and educated in Boston. He was a member of St. Theresa's Church.

Mr. Pucillo was a food technician at A.E. Ogan Co. for several years. He then owned and operated Joseph's Donut Shop in Dorchester for several years until he retired.

He was the widower of Mary C. (Whitman) Pucillo.

Members of his family include his sons and daughters-in-law, Norman and Dawn Pucillo of Methuen, Frederick and Carol Pucillo of Lawrence and John and Eileen Pucillo of Nashua, N.H.; daughters and sons-in-law, Marianne and Robert Truesdale of Methuen and Susan and John Kulenkamp of Milford, N.H.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were by Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen.

Corrine Wilkins Staid

Corrine "Cory" Wilkins Staid, 74, of Kennebunkport, Maine and a former Andover resident, died Saturday, Nov. 24, after a brief illness.

Ms. Staid was a professional artist, teacher and master in the technical medium of watercolor.

She was also an avid gardener.

A graduate of Danvers High School and LaSalle Junior College, she was proficient in drafting and mechanical drawing. She worked as an electrical engineering draftsman and fashion illustrator in Boston and New York for several years before starting her family.

She was a member of the Reading Art Association, Andovers Artists Guild, North Shore Arts Association, New England Watercolor Society, Concord Art Association, Copley Society of Boston, River Tree Arts and was a charter member of the Art Guild of the Kennebunks.

Her awards were numerous and included ones from the New England Watercolor Society, Providence Water Color Club, Oqunquit Art Center and the National Academy of Design in New York.

Members of her family include her daughters, Karen Ireland of Belfast, Maine, MaryBeth Staid Mathews of Cumberland, Maine, and Kathy Willis of Lawrence; sons, Kevin P. Staid of Lowell, Jon W. Staid of Lawrence and Brian J. Staid of Kennebunkport, Maine; sisters, Pauline Proctor of Gorham, Maine, Sylvia Shepard of Danvers, and JoAnne Alukonis of Newburyport; and 10 grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late Phillip Wilkins.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 1 at 1 p.m. at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church, Rte. 1, Kennebunk, Maine. A family and friends gathering will follow in the church hall until 4 p.m.

Arrangements are by Bibber Memorial Chapel of Kennebunk.
