SALEM, N.H. — Denise L. Jeffries, 38, of 10 Copper Beech Road, died yesterday at Boston Medical Center following a scuba diving accident on Sunday in Salisbury. Born in Binghampton, N.Y. on March 25, 1960, she was the daughter of Donald Jeffries of Naperville, Ill. and Mary Overfield Santos of Salem, N.H. She moved to Andover where she resided from 1974 to 1982, graduating from Andover High School, Class of 1978. She also attended Syracuse University and had been a resident of the Merrimack Valley area and southern New Hampshire for most of her life. Miss Jeffries was an active young woman who enjoyed life to the fullest and was very dedicated to her niece and nephew. She also enjoyed cooking and was an avid motorcyclist and boater. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her stepfather, Don Santos of Salem, N.H.; her fiance, Edward Fehrenbach of Lawrence; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Brian and Lynne Jeffries of Plaistow, N.H., and Kenneth Jeffries and Jackie Baker of Lowell; a half-brother, Frederick Jeffries of Naperville, Ill.; a half-sister, Jennifer Jeffries Carroll of Naperville, Ill.; three step-brothers, James Hancock of Naperville, Ill., Scott Santos of Brandenton, Fla. and Todd Santos of Syracuse, N.Y.; a niece and nephew, Kelsey Jeffries and Kurt Jeffries of Plaistow, N.H.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was the aunt of the late Brent Jeffries, who died in 1989. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral to be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Broadway, Haverhill. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. SALISBURY — Maryann (O'Keefe) DeStefano, of Railroad Ave., formerly of South Lawrence, died Monday morning at the Harborside Nursing Home in Amesbury. She was the wife of the late Ersilio G. DeStefano. Born in Lawrence, Mrs. DeStefano was raised in South Lawrence. She attended Lawrence schools and had lived in Salisbury for the past 30 years. Mrs. DeStefano was a homemaker for most of her life, caring for her family. She is survived by two sons, Gordon Kalil and William Kalil, both of Methuen; two daughters, Carol Costa of Methuen and Kathleen Rezek of Canton; two stepsons, Richard DeStefano and Michael DeStefano, both of Salisbury; a brother, Vincent O'Keefe of Methuen; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Star of the Sea Church, Salisbury. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Amesbury. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. HAVERHILL - Frederick T. Ellery, 54, of 100 Winter St., died Saturday at the Hale Hospital in Haverhill. Born in Newburyport on July 31, 1943, he was the son of the late Albert R. and Dorothy M. (Abbott) Ellery. He had been a resident of Haverhill since 1955 and previously resided in Newburyport. Mr. Ellery had been employed at Eastern Canvas Co. in Haverhill for 27 years. He is survived by five sisters, Eleanor G. Ball and Lucy M. Wyman, both of Haverhill, Maude Helen Mantarian of Newburyport, Mary Alice Sanborn of Exeter, N.H., and Marguerite "Peggy" Lambert of Tyngsboro; one brother, Albert R. Ellery Jr. of Newburyport; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was the brother of the late Grace D. Conwell. Funeral services will be held Wednesday evening at 8 at the C. Frank Linnehan & Son Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill. Visiting hours will be Wednesday, 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family, in Hillside Cemetery, Haverhill.

NEWBURYPORT — Rowland Currier Jr., 78, of Newburyport, died Friday from complications of emphysema. He was the husband of Lucy (Houldsworth) Currier. Born and raised in Newburyport, he was the son of the late Rowland Sr. and Walborg (Bye) Currier. Mr. Currier was a Navy veteran of World War II and retired from the Naval Reserve as a Commander in 1978. Mr. Currier was a salesman for Ad, Siedel & Son, an institutional food distributor, prior to his retirement in 1982. He had been a special events driver for Governor Dummer Academy in Byfield and served as treasurer for a local charitable organization. In addition to his wife of 51 years, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Rowland "Ron" III and Dorene Currier of Amesbury, and David W. and Denise Currier of Methuen; three grandchildren, Joshua Currier of West Newbury, and Justin and Devin Currier of Salisbury; three step grandchildren, Thomas J. Sadowski of Newmarket, N.H., Joseph Kaczynski of Methuen and Stacy Andrade of Lawrence; two step great-grandchildren, Tyler and Hayley Andrade of Lawrence; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of Harriet L. (Currier) Noyes of Newburyport and Priscilla A. (Currier) Gould of Adams. A Memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Church, Newburyport. Burial will follow in Belleville Cemetery, Newburyport. At the request of the family, there will be no calling hours. Please omit flowers. NEWBURYPORT — Florida M. (Poulin) Villarney, 100, of Low Street, died Sunday evening at the Country Manor Nursing Home, Newburyport. She was the wife of the late James J. Villarney. Born in Newburyport, she was the daughter of the late Nazaire and Marie (Morrisette) Poulin. She was raised in Newburyport and was a graduate of the French Parochial School of Newburyport, which was taught by the Parisian Nuns, whom she loved dearly. Mrs. Villarney lived in Newburyport for the greater part of her life. For several years she worked in area clothing stores in Pawtucket, R.I., before moving back to Newburyport. She is survived by a sister, Clara Gaumont of Amesbury;, and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Louis DeGonzague Church, Newburyport. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Newburyport. SALISBURY — Mary A. (Neagle) Whiteley, 90, a resident of 197 Elm St., died early Sunday at the Greenleaf House in Salisbury. She was the wife of the late Colin C. Whiteley, who died in 1990. Born in Haverhill on May 4, 1908, she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Quirk) Neagle. She had been a resident of Salisbury for the past 10 years. Prior to that, she lived on Plum Island in Newbury. A graduate of St. James High School in Haverhill, she also attended Merrimack College in North Andover. Mrs. Whiteley was employed by the former Hoyt & Worthen Tannery Co. of Haverhill as a secretary and administrative assistant for more than 20 years, until her retirement in 1969. She was a former member of the Ladies of Merrimack, an organization of women connected with Merrimack College. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Colleen and Gerald Plumley of Newburyport; Janice and Frank Sirois of Newbury, and Katherine and Bruce Picard of Key West, Fla.; a sister and brother-in-law, Katherine and Laurence Phillips of Oxnard, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Gertrude Pallette of Pompano Beach, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Whiteley of Laguna Beach, Calif.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and two close friends, Dorothy LeBlanc and Bernard Turner. A private service will be celebrated on Thursday at the St. Louis DeGonzague Church in Newburyport. Burial will be in Bridge Street Cemetery, West Newbury. GEORGETOWN — John R. Boulanger, 90, of Chestnut Street, died Sunday at Hale Hospital in Haverhill. He was the husband of Marie Louise (Feilteau) Boulanger. Born in West Boxford on April 11, 1908, he was the son of the late Peter F. and Herminise (Demers) Boulanger. Mr. Boulanger was a shoe pattern maker in Haverhill and other cities. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, John Theodore Boulanger of Georgetown; a daughter, Jeanette Betty of Atkinson; two sisters, Beatrice Peppin and Emily Mello, both of Ocala, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Merton E. Roberts Jr. Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant St., Georgetown. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery, Georgetown. Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. MERRIMAC — William K. Bick Sr., 72, of 80 Hadley Road, died Saturday at the Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport. He was the husband of Margaret "Peggy" (Sauve) Bick. Born in Salem on Oct. 4, 1925, he was the son of the late John A. and Edith (Kimball) Bick. He was educated in the Salem and Danvers school systems. Mr. Bick was a Navy veteran of World War II, attaining the rank of Gunners Mate 3. He received the World War II Victory Medal, American Theater Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal. After the war, Mr. Bick operated a lobster business in Beverly and, more recently, owned and operated Bill's Generator and Starter Service in Merrimac until his retirement in the early 1990s. The business is now operated by his son, Bill Jr. In addition to his wife of 49 years, he is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, William Jr. and Lois Bick of Brentwood, N.H., and Robert Bick of Salem, N.H.; three daughters and a son-in-law, Ruth and Paul Gamble of Salem, and Donna Bick and Susan Speed, both of Amesbury; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Virginia Bick, who died in 1979. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service tomorrow evening at 8 at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. Calling hours are tomorrow, 6 to 7:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
