Dorothy C. O’Connell
Dorothy C. (O’Neill) O’Connell, 84, of Scituate and Tuam, Co. Galway, Ireland, formerly of Milton, died on April 25 in South Shore Hospital,Weymouth after a brief illness.
Born in Boston, she was a graduate of Dorchester High School.
Mrs. O’Connell lived in Milton for 35 years before moving to Scituate 20 years ago. She has also maintained a home in Ireland for last 10 years.
Mrs. O’Connell was a member of the Scituate Woman’s Club and a volunteer at the Scituate Senior Citizen’s Center. She was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Church in Scituate
Wife of the late Daniel F. O’Connell, she is survived by two daughters, Susan Casey of Hingham and Barbara O’Connell of Scituate; a son, Daniel O’Connell of Georgia; four brothers, Edward O’Neill of Milton, Robert O’Neill of Braintree, James O’Neill of Florida, and Gerald O’Neill of Stoughton; three sisters, Alice McCluskey of Plymouth, Frances Jenkins of Canton, and Claire Armstrong of Marshfield; seven grandchildren, Alan O’Connell and Michael O’Connell of Quincy, Kelly O’Connell of Milton, Kara Kremer of California, Brian Casey of Hingham, and Jillian O’Connell and Daniel O’Connell of Georgia, three great-grandchildren, Patrick O’Connell of Milton, Ronan Kremer and Liam Kremer of California, and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Alan O’Connell.
A pro-burial Mass will be held Saturday, May 3, at St. Agatha Church at 2 p.m. Burial will be private.

Dorothy V. Murphy
Dorothy V. (Dever) Murphy, 91, of Milton, died May 11.
Born in Newton, she was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy in Roxbury and Emmanuel College in Boston. She was a resident of Milton for the past 57 years.
Mrs. Murphy was a former member of the Cunningham Women’s Bowling League.
Wife of the late David L. Murphy, she is survived by four sons, David L. Murphy Jr., Peter J. Murphy, and Philip D. Murphy all of Milton, and Richard F. Murphy of Chelsea; a daughter, Dorothy L. Banks of Scituate; a brother John Dever of Hull; and seven grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated May 13 at St. Agatha Church. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.

Ruth A. Freedman
Ruth A. Freedman, 64, of Milton, died May 2 at Milton Hospital.
Miss Freedman had lived in Milton for more than 20 years. She had previously lived in Brockton and Randolph for several years.
She is survived by her close friends, Joseph L. Camorali and Philip P. Camorali, both of Milton.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Agatha Church on May 6. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.

Anne N. Noris
Anne N. (Briggs) Noris, 90, of Milton, died May 2 at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation, Randolph.
Mrs. Noris was a clerical worker for 15 years at the former Curtis Farm Market in Milton, retiring in 1975. She previously worked as a crossing guard for the town.
Wife of the late Arthur L. Noris, she is survived by a son, Leonard C. Noris of Abington; two sisters, Edith Bonomi of Quincy and Mary Burns of Newton, a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Agatha Church on May 5. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.

Francis E. Moran
Francis E. Moran, 74, of Milton, died May 2.
Born in East Boston, he graduated from East Boston High School. He joined the Army after graduation and was a veteran of World War II.
Mr. Moran worked as a driver and then security for the MBTA for 21 years, retiring in 1991.
He was a member of Carmen’s Union #589.
He is survived by his wife, Helen (Pugliese) Moran; a son, Francis E. Moran Jr. of Medfield; a daughter, Julie E. Moran of Milton; two sisters, Winnie Amoroso of East Boston and Irene Prodonis of Peabody; a brother Louis Moran of East Boston, and two grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated May 5 at St. Mary of the Hills Church. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.

Margaret Collins
Margaret (Tripp) Collins, 98, formerly of Milton, died May 3 at the Southwood at Norwell Nursing Center, Norwell.
Born in Minnesota, she graduated from the Northfield School for Girls and the Sargent School at Boston University, class of 1928. She worked as a swimming instructor and activities director at the YMCA in Maine
She was active in the Wollaston Congregational Church. She spent her summers on Comet Pond in Hubbardston.
Wife of the late Charles A. Collins, she is survived by two sons, George M. Collins of Hingham and John P. Collins of Walpole; a daughter, Laurine C. Yates of West Virginia; a brother, Howard B. Tripp of Connecticut; nine grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at Wollaston Congregational Church, Wollaston on May 7.

William J. Sheehan
William J. Sheehan, 85, died May 3 at Webster at Rye in Rye, NH after a brief illness.
Born in South Boston and raised in Milton, he graduated from Milton High School and attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He lived in Hingham for many years and New Hampshire for the past 10 years.
During World War II, Mr. Sheehan served in England and elsewhere in Europe as a technical representative to the military for Pratt and Whitney aircraft engines.
He was an engineer and the retired owner of Enterprise Equipment Company. He owned the company for 40 years before retiring in 1986.
After retiring he volunteered in Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) in New Hampshire and was a member of the Rotary Club.
He was a founder and past commodore of the Crow Point Sailing Club, a past commodore of Blue Water Sailing Club and a member of the Hingham Yacht Club, the Kittery Point Yacht Club and the Portsmouth Yacht Club. He was a member of the Hingham Harbor Committee for many years.
Husband of the late Anna (McKee) Sheehan, he is survived by a son, William J. Sheehan III of Nantucket; five daughters, Mary Emily Brown of Milton, Catharine Newick of New Hampshire, Patricia Geary of Marshfield, Hilary Carlson of Northboro, Barbara Buntrock of New Hampshire, Mary Sullivan of Milton and Anne Pressman of Waban, and 17 grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Agatha Church on May 7. Burial was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.

Gertrude J. King
Gertrude J. (Runge) King, 94, of Milton, died May 2 at Cape Cod Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bourne.
She was born in Germany and moved to the U.S. as a baby. She grew up in Boston and lived in Jamaica Plain for many years. She was a graduate of Lassell Junior College in Auburndale. She had lived in Milton for over 40 years.
Mrs. King worked for Bonwit Teller in Boston as a salesperson for 25 years, retiring in 1984. She had also worked for Filene’s in Boston.
She was a former member of the Milton Women’s Club, the Cunningham Bowling League and St. Agatha’s Bowling League. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Agatha Church.
Wife of the late John J. King, she is survived by three sons, John J. King Jr. of Maryland, Edward F. King of Virginia and Richard P. King of Milton; a daughter, Mary T. Smith of Sandwich; nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Agatha Church on May 7. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.

Seth C. Crocker, M.D.
Seth C. Crocker, M.D., 83, died Thursday, May 8, in his home in Milton, from Alzheimer’s disease.
Dr. Crocker was born in LeRoy, New York in 1919. He moved with his family to Milton in 1930. He was a lifelong summer resident of Strafford, Vt.
He was a graduate of Milton Academy Class of 1937, Harvard Class of 1941 (he served as Class secretary from 1941-1977), and Harvard Medical School Class of 1944. He served in the Army Medical Corps during World War II with the rank of Captain.
Dr. Crocker was on the teaching staff of Boston University School of Medicine and Harvard Medical School. He was member of the Milton Hospital Medical staff from 1950 until his retirement in 1990. He was president of the Milton Hospital Medical Staff from 1963 to 1966, secretary/treasurer in the late 1950s and again from 1973 - 1974, and Chief of Medicine from 1977 - 1984. He maintained a private practice and was devoted to his patients; he was still making house calls until his retirement in 1990.
Dr. Crocker was also active in many civic organizations. He was a Town Meeting member from 1951-1997, St. Michael’s Episcopal Church Warden and involved in numerous church activities, Milton Chapter of the American Red Cross, advisor to the Milton Public Welfare Department, and acting physician at Milton Academy and member of the Dorchester Medical Club.
The Milton Visiting Nurse Association named Dr. Crocker as their Humanitarian of the Year in 1986. Dr. Crocker was the first person to be given this award.
Husband of the late Evelyn (Wheet) Crocker, he is survived by two sons, John F. Crocker IV of Holbrook and Stuart M. Crocker of Vermont; five daughters, Marian "Mandy" Paolilli of Colorado, Deborah C. Richie of Milton, Jane C. Crocker of Milton, Polly G. deMille of New York and Elizabeth "Libby" deMille of California; a sister, Martha C. Boyajian of Vermont, and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service was held May 14, in St. Michael’s Episcopal Church. Burial was private.

Edward F. McNulty
Edward F. McNulty, 83, died May 1 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Brockton.
Born in Boston, he grew up in Dorchester and lived there for many years. He lived in Brockton for 50 years.
He is survived by a brother, John McNulty of West Roxbury; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at the Veterans Administration Chapel in Brockton on May 9. Burial was in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
