Martha E. Desto
Martha E. (Boyd) Desto, 92, died on April 22 at Logan Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Braintree.
Born in Boston, she lived in Jamaica Plain before moving to Quincy 44 years ago.
Wife of the late Joseph Desto, she is survived by three daughters, Louise F. Johnson and Mary C. Russell, both of Quincy, and Ruth J. DeAmicis of Weymouth; a sister, Mary M. Lindsey of Florida; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.
A funeral service was held the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home on April 26. Burial was in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.

Ada E. Lyons
Ada E. (Thompson) Lyons, 88, died on April 26 at Milton Hospital.
Mrs. Lyons was a secretary at Steadfast Rubber Company in Mattapan for 15 years.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church for many years.
Born in Boston, she lived in Hyde Park before moving to Milton 67 years ago. She was a resident of Winter Valley.
Wife of the late James T. Lyons, she is survived by two sons, Kenneth T. Lyons of Plymouth and James T. Lyons III of Acton; a daugters, Nancy A. Sheehan of Wellesley, and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on April 30 at the First Congregational Church.

Margaret J. Byrne
Margaret J. (Dubee) Byrne, 86, formerly of Milton, died on April 29.
Born in Montreal, Canada, she attended McGill University before moving to the United States in 1939.
She lived in Milton for 63 years before moving to Braintree a year ago.
Mrs. Byrne was an active member of the Ladies Sodality at St. Mary of the Hills Church and the Mother's Guild at Boston College High School. She was active on many committees at the Wollaston Golf Club and the Quincy Neighborhood Club.
She was the co-founder of the New England Chapter of the Scleroderma Foundation.
She is survived by her husband, Philip R. Byrne of Braintree; four sons, Philip M. Byrne of Charlestown, Dr. Denis P. Byrne of Winchester, Matthew P. Byrne of North Marshfield and Christopher J. Byrne of Hingham; a sister, Sr. Maureen Dubee of Montreal; five grandchildren, Brian D. Byrne and Darin D. Byrne of Winchester, Michael P. Byrne of New York City, Trevor D. Byrne and Lindsey M. Byrne of Hingham, nine nieces and six nephews.
She was the mother of the late Maureen A. Byrne.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Mary of the Hills Church on May 3. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.

William F. Connolly
William F. Connolly, a respected fish broker, died of cancer Wednesday, May 1.
After graduating from Boston College in 1949, he began his career at the Boston Fish Pier, where he worked for 37 years.The flag at the Boston Fish Pier was flown at half mast on Friday, May 3, in his honor.
Mr. Connolly left his South Boston neighborhood at age 17 and joined the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), where he built a ranger station in the Colorado wilderness. Upon returning to Massachusetts he immediately signed up for the Merchant Marines, embarking upon journeys taking him from Cuba to Iceland.
At the outbreak of WW II he enlisted with the United States Marine Corps, where he served in the South Pacific. In 1945, taking advantage of a GI Bill, he enrolled at Boston College, already married and a family man. His BC yearbook described him as "a wealth of knowledge and much self-assurance." The yearbook went on to say, "He is a man of firm conviction and, as a result, cannot be forced to abandon his position for the sake of weak or mediocre arguments." He was a BC alumnus and attended football and hockey games throughout the years.
His business life brought him in contact with international companies in Canada, Japan and Europe. He was known for his integrity and knowledge about the fish business, particularly the lobster industry, and his counsel was always in demand. Associates could count on him to give an honest and fair answer.
Mr. Connolly was active in several political campaigns in the 1950s, and developed many enduring friendships from those early political days. Family and friends relied on him for spirited debates on international, domestic, state or local topics. An avid lifelong reader, he read several newspapers daily as well as a variety of books.
He embraced retirement eagerly, walking the paths and beaches of Cape Cod and Castle Island.
He faced his illness with the same grace and dignity with which he lived his life.
He is survived by his wife Marie J. (Federico) Connolly; five children, Patricia E. Doherty of Weymouth, William F. Connolly Jr., Margaret P. Burke, and Mary Whelen, all of Milton, Christopher J. Connolly of Canton; 11 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He is the brother of the late Joseph Connolly, James Connolly, and Mary DeLappe.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Gregory's Church, Dorchester on May 6. Burial was in VA National Cemetery, Bourne.

Dorothy E. Guaragna
Dorothy E. (Dunn) Guaragna, 80, died on April 26 at Milton Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Guaragna was a graduate of Jeremiah Burke High School in Boston. She was a long distance telephone operator and a homemaker.
She lived in Dorchester for over 30 years before moving to Milton in 1985. She was a long-time communicant of St. Gregory's Church in Dorchester.
She is survived by her husband Louis J. Guaragna; two daughters, Debbie Guaragna of Westborough and Jane D. Cain of Arlington; three grandchildren, Katherine Cain of Arlington, Christopher Stultz of Westborough and James Cain of Arlington.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Gregory's Church, Dorchester on April 30. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.

Mary E. Hamrock
Mary E. Hamrock, 89, died on May 1 at Endicott Manor in Dedham.
A long-time teacher for the city of Boston, Ms. Hamrock started her teaching career in 1938 at Roslindale High School where she was active in the drama department and as the yearbook advisor. She taught there until her retirement in 1974.
Born in Boston, she was a graduate of St. Peter's School in Dorchester in 1926 and Dorchester High School in 1930. She received her bachelor's degree in 1934 and her master's degree in 1935, both from Boston Teacher's College.
She was a long-time resident of Dorchester before moving to Milton in 1957. She was a member of Wollaston Golf Club and the Retired Teacher's Association of Boston.
Daughter of the late James J. and Mary E. (Fallon) Hamrock, she is survived by two brothers, William F. Hamrock of New Hampshire and James J. Hamrock of Canton; a sister, Theresa A Hamrock of Milton; many nieces and nephews, and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Elizabeth Church. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Mattapan.

Ellen C. Keegan
Ellen C. (Coyne) Keegan, 92, died on April 25 at her home.
Mrs. Keegan was a clerk for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. for 33 years before her retirement in 1971.
She was the former owner of Pinebrook Lodge in West Harwich for 16 years . Born in Broxbur, Scotland, she attended schools there and graduated from Nazareth High School in South Boston in 1927.
Mrs. Keegan lived in Dorchester and South Boston before moving to Milton 40 years ago.
Wife of the late Lawrence P. Keegan, she is surived by a son, Lawrence P. Keegan Jr. of Milton; a daughter, Mary Walsh Woolley of Centerville; two sisters, Agnes Casey of Milton and Marie Degan of South Boston, and five grandchildren and one great-grandson. She was the mother of the late Joan Keegan Cole.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Agatha Church on April 29.

Barbara A. Money
Barbara A. (Hall) Money, 59, formerly of Milton, died on April 9 at her home in Raleigh, NC.
Mrs. Money worked for Milton Hospital for 10 years as a Staffing Office assistant and then worked for Neuro Care, P.C. for 10 years. She had worked for Rex Family Practice of Cary, NC, for the past three years.
Born in Boston, she was educated in the Milton public schools and was a 1960 graduate of Milton High School. She was a member of Rainbow and was active in the high school band and chorus.
She lived in Milton until 1994 when she relocated to North Carolina.
She is survived by her husband, Donald B. Money, three sons, Donald B. Money Jr. of Florida, James M. Money of NC and Christopher S. Money of Maine; her mother, Marion Doyle Hall of Norfolk; two brothers, Harold E. Hall of California and Robert Hall of Plainville, and four grandchildren, Jake Mercer, Connor Money, Jack Money and Cameron Money.
A memorial service was held on May 4 at the First Congregational Church.

Anna I. Martin
Anna I. (Dooley) Martin, 89, died on May 6 at her home after a long illness.
Born in Boston, she graduated from Boston Public Schools. She had lived in Milton for 39 years.
Wife of the late William F. Martin, she is survived by two daugters, Mary E. Leary of Byfield and Nancy Tobin of Milton; two sisters, Katherine M. Dooley of Milton and Mary Jane Boyd, and three grandchildren, David Leary, Julia Tobin and Jessica Tobin. She was the mother of the late William F. Martin Jr. and sister of the late John S. Dooley, Charles Owen Dooley, Winnifred A. Dooley and Elizabeth Dooley.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Mary of the Hills Church on May 11. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.

Caroline Tantillo
Caroline (Bortolotti) Tantillo, 84, of Mattapan, formerly of Milton, died on May 6 at Salemhaven Nursing Home in Salem, N.H.
Mrs. Tantillo was a proofreader for Rustcraft Greeting Card Company in Dedham for 15 years before her retirement in 1983.
She was a member of St. Angela's Over 60 Club in Mattapan and a former member of the Tu-Nl Club. She was a long-time communicant of St. Angela's Church.
Born in Boston, she attended Milton schools.
Wife of the late Dominick Tantillo, she is survived by a daughter, Lorraine F. Brissette of Salem, N.H., three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
