Margaret F. Donnelly
Drove ‘Roadrunner’
WESTFORD - Mrs. Margaret "Peggy" Frances (Gault) Donnelly, 62, of Westford,died Monday morning, May 17, 2004 at the Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer.
She was married to Edmund "Ed" F. Donnelly, with whom she celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary on April 20.
Born in Boston, on Nov. 9, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Margaret (Watt) Gault.
She was raised and educated in Medford, and graduated from Medford High School with the Class of 1959.
A resident of Westford for more than 32 years, she worked for the Marinel Bus Co. driving the Roadrunner. In her early years she worked for the John Hancock Life Ins. Co. in Boston. She was a patron of the H.E. Fletcher Club of Westford for many years.
She was a member of the West Chelmsford United Methodist Church.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters and two sons in - law, Margie and Jim Engberg of Athol, and Missy and Jim Falconer of Westford; her sister, Carol Tavanese of Medford; four grandchildren, Renee Engberg of Worcester, James Engberg of Athol, William and Marissa Falconer both of Westford; and many brothers and sisters in - law as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 20 at 10 a.m. from the Dolan Funeral Home, 106 Middlesex St., Chelmsford, with a service at 11 a.m. in the West Chelmsford United Methodist Church, 242 Main St., W. Chelmsford.
Visiting Hours are Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Burial will be at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Westford.
Memorials may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, 360 Route 101, Bedford, NH 03110.

Francis J. Blanchard
Veteran, Machinist
ORANGE - Francis J. Blanchard, 82, of 383 East River St., died Monday, May 17, 2004, in the Athol Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Athol, on May 4, 1922, the son of Henry J. and Cecile (Mallet) Blanchard.
He served in the United States Army Air Corps in Iwojima during World War II.
He was a machinist for 20 years at the Union Twist Drill Company, Athol, and 20 years at the Harrington and Richardson Company in Gardner.
He had been an active member of the Franco American Club, the American Legion Post No. 102, the Ellinwood Country Club, the Petersham Curling Club and the former Ellinwood Volleyball Team.
He leaves his wife of 64 years, Lena (Frenette) Blanchard; one son, Alfred H. Blanchard and his wife, Theresa, of Athol; three grandchildren, Troy Blanchard of New Hampshire, Tammy Blanchard of New Hampshire, Todd Blanchard of Colorado; and one great grandson, Taylor Blanchard; four brothers, Norman Blanchard of Cathedral City, CA, Raymond Blanchard of Athol; Richard Blanchard of Athol; Leslie Blanchard of East Englewood, FL; three sisters, Estelle Smith of Leominster, Alberta Blanchard of Athol, Vivian McDonald of Westboro. He was predeceased by two brothers, Theophile "Jeff" Blanchard and Albany Blanchard who died in England during World War II.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 21, with a Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family at a later date.
There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in his memory to the Quabbin Valley Healthcare Center, 821 Daniel Shays Highway, Athol, MA 01331; or to a chairty of one's choice.
The J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Athol is directing arrangements.

Barbara A. (White) McAdoo
ORANGE - Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2004 in South Cemetery at 11a.m. for Barbara A. (White) McAdoo, 66, of 15 Winter St., who died unexpectedly on April 29, 2004 in Athol Memorial Hospital after being stricken ill earlier at home, and her husband, Elliott L. McAdoo Jr., 70, who died on Dec. 25, 2002 at home following an illness. The Rev. Mark Bariloni of the Athol - Orange Baptist Church will officiate. Following the service, a reception will be held at the Bethany Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall at 62 Cheney Street in Orange.
Witty's Funeral Home, Orange, is directing the arrangements.

Joseph J. Blanchard
ORANGE - Joseph J. Blanchard, 78 of 30 Glenwood Ave., died Sunday, May 16, 2004 in the Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol.
Funeral services under the direction of the Fiske Funeral Home, Athol, are incomplete.

Ward Hunting,
Teacher For Forty Years
NEW SALEM - Ward W. Hunting, 80, of the Fay Farm, 2 Orange Rd., died Saturday, May 15, 2004, in the family home where he was born and had lived for many years.
Born on Nov. 19, 1923, a son of Nathan J. and Beatrice (Fay) Hunting, he graduated from the former Fay Elementary School, North New Salem in 1938, New Salem Academy in 1942 and Houghton College, Houghton, N. Y. in 1946.
He served with the United States Navy during World War II and continued his education at the former Massachusetts State College, Amherst, receiving his M.S. degree in chemistry in 1949. He later graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a Ph.D. in 1963.
A teacher for 40 years, he began his career at the Eastern Nazarene College, Quincy and Northeastern University, Boston teaching for seven years. During this time he helped develop cabin air conditioning for the B52 airplane. In 1957 he joined the faculty at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in the Department of Food Sciences where he taught until retiring as Associate Professor Emeritus in 1990. While at the University he served as Director of 50,000 Curie Cobalt 60 radiation facility for which he held an Atomic Energy License and supervised a three million electron Van De Graaff generator.
He was an active member of Phi Kappa Phi Honorary Society and a Past President of the UMass Chapter. He was instrumental in introducing Intervarsity Christian Fellowship to the student body at U Mass in the late 1940s.
Actively involved with the North New Salem Congregational Church, he was a member of its Board of Elders, former Deacon and served on many church committees. A founding member of the North New Salem Christian School, he served on its school committee 29 years and was for many years a registrar of students.
He shared his knowledge of education in the community and county serving on many related committees including as former Chairman and member of New Salem Regional School Planning Commission, Honorary President and member of New Salem Academy Trustees, former Chairman and member of New Salem Academy Auto Shop Building Committee, New Salem School Committee, Swift River School Building Committee, French King Regional Vocational Technical School Committee, Union 28 Regional School District Planning Committee, School Facilities Investigating Committee and New Salem Academy Facilities Committee.
He was a former Chairman and member of the Greenfield Community College Advisory Board from 1965 until 1981.
In town government he was a former New Salem Auditor, member of the Street Numbering and Town Common Committees. He had been the E - 911 Coordinator and served as janitor of the New Salem Public Library in 1939.
He leaves his wife of 56 years, Roberta (Somerville) Hunting; a son, Timothy Hunting and his wife, Norma of Montague Center; a daughter, Rebecca Gray and husband, John of New Salem; five grandchildren, Jami Marie Hunting, Jessie Lee Hunting and Justin Ward Hunting all of Montague Center, Jennifer Rebecca Gray and Timothy William Martin Gray both of New Salem; a sister, Fay Hunting Bennett and husband Ehrman of Greenfield; several nephews, nieces and cousins.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 18 at 1 p.m. in North New Salem Congregational Church, Elm Street. The Rev. Edward T. Boren, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in West Cemetery, Shutesbury.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main St., Orange.
In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to North New Salem Congregational Church, in care of Loretta Bergquist, Treas, 207 South Main St., Orange, 01364.

Ward Martin Hunting
NEW SALEM - Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at the North New Salem Congregational Church for Ward Martin Hunting, 80, of the Fay Farm, 2 Orange Rd., who died on Saturday, May 15, 2004 in the family home where he was born and lived most of his life, following an illness. The Rev. Edward T. Boren, Pastor, officiated. The organist was Janet Boren. "I Can Only Imagine" was sung by Miranda Bean, Amy Williams, Trinace Browning, Michelle Howe, Jami Hunting, Jessie Hunting, and Jennifer Gray.
Interment was in West Cemetery, Shutesbury. The pallbearers were; Ralph Hunt, George Stone, John Gray, Justin Hunting, Paul Morretti, and Lou LaPlante. A reception was held in the church hall following the committial service.

Benoit Services
WARWICK - Graveside services were held on Saturday, May 15, 2004 in Warwick Center Cemetery for Emily L. (Hubbard) Benoit, 86, of 24 Kirk Rd., who died on Jan. 17, 2004 in the Harborside Applewood Healthcare, Winchester, NH following an illness. The Rev. Dan Dibble of the Metcalf Memorial Chapel officiated. A reception was held at the Warwick Town Hall following the service.

Kimball Services
ORANGE - A Memorial service was held on Saturday, May 15, 2004 at Witty's Funeral Home for Olive M. (McKnight) Kimball, 86, of Carson, Calif., and formerly of Orange, who died Jan. 21, 2004 at Little Company of Mary Hospital. The Rev. Harold V. Lloyd Jr., Pastor of the Athol Congregational Church, officiated. Interment followed in South Cemetery. Following the committial service, a reception was held at the Athol Congregational Church.

Johnson Services
WARWICK - A committial service was held on Saturday, May 15, 2004 in Warwick Center Cemetery for Fred H. Johnson Jr., 61, of 121 Old Winchester Rd. who died March 30, 2004 in the Athol Memorial Hospital after being stricken ill earlier at home. The Rev. Dennis Roth of the First Congregational Church, West Brattleboro, Vt., officiated. Following the service, a reception was held at the Johnson residence.

GREENFIELD - Clyde L. Sargent, 88, of 75A Wells St., died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at Poet's Seat Nursing Home.

Joan Noble
TEMPLETON - Joan Noble, 73, of 51 Hospital Rd., Baldwinville, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, in the Baldwinville Nursing Home.
