Harold R. Haughton
Hunter And Fisherman
Harold R. Haughton, 88, of 435 Pleasant St., died Tuesday in his home after an illness.
His wife of 62 years, Ida A. (Gibson) Haughton, died in 1997.
He was born in Athol Nov. 18, 1909, the son of Robert F. and Millie E. (Rogers) Haughton, and lived in Athol most of his life. He attended Athol schools.
He was a grinder at the L.S. Starrett Company for over 25 years, retiring in 1971. He also worked part - time for the Plotkin Furniture company.
He was a member of the Starrett 25 Years Club and was a former member of the Athol Rod and Gun Club. He attended the Athol Congregational Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed sharing his hunting and fishing stories with his family and friends. He was a dedicated father and grandfather.
He leaves a son, Reginald C. Haughton Sr. of Phillipston; a daughter, Kathie Ziminski of Phillipston; six grandchildren, nine great - grandchildren, a nephew and nieces.
Fiske Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements with the use of the Higgins - O'Connor Funeral Home at 146 Main St.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Higgins - O'Connor Funeral Home with Reverend Barbara Kline Seamon, Pastor of the Athol Congregational Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Silver Lake Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held Thursday from 10 - 11 a.m. in the funeral home.

Peter Korny
Peter Korny, 79, of Chicopee, died Tuesday in Springfield.
Among his survivors is a brother, Nickolas Korny, of Athol.
Donna May Sullivan
ORANGE - Donna May (Hurd) Sullivan, 49, of Brattleboro, Vt., formerly of Orange, died Thursday in Brattleboro Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
She was raised in Orange and graduated from Orange High School. Among her survivors are a sister, Marjorie Guimon, of Orange and Estella Bogan of Templeton.
Grace M. Osborne; Antique Dealer
Grace M. (Kerrigan) Osborne, 89, of 22 Gibson Dr., died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999 in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester following a short illness.
She leaves six sons, Arthur Osborne, Donald Osborne and Kenneth Osborne all of Athol, Robert Osborne of Hull, Eugene Osborne of Florida and Phillip Osborne of Belchertown; a daughter, Joyce Cromwell of Orange; a brother, Frank MeHarg of Florida; 19 grandchildren and 19 great - grandchildren.
She was born in Boston, Nov. 16, 1909 the daughter of Dennis and Grace (Vance) Kerrigan and grew up in the Boston area. She was a resident of Athol for the past 53 years.
She enjoyed her family and sold antiques for many years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, Sept. 30, at 2 p.m. in Silver Lake Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
Fiske Funeral Home is directing arrangements.
Mary Ann Prondecki
TURNERS FALLS — Mary Ann (Satrowsky) Prondecki, 94, of 24 Marshall St., died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999 at home.
Among her survivors is a sister, Von Dy Rowe, of Athol.
Charles F. Richardson; Former Lion
GARDNER - Charles F. Richardson, 64, of 261 Elm St., died Monday, Sept. 27, 1999 at Heywood Hospital after a long illness.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Gladys (Narkevicius) Richardson; a son, James Richardson of Royalston; his mother, Alice (Murphy) Richardson of Levittown, L.I., N.Y.; three sisters, Mary Stone of Levittown, Susan Thatcher and Anne Geier, both of Scottsdale, Ariz., and two grandsons.
He was born Dec. 21, 1934 in Keene, N.H. and was the son of C. Francis Richardson. He resided in Royalston for many years before moving to Gardner in 1981.
He graduated from Athol High School in 1952.
He was highway superintendent for the town of Hubbardston, retiring in 1993.
He was a member of the Holy Spirit Church and a former member of the Hubbardston and Athol Lions Clubs.
The funeral will be held from the Poliks Funeral Home, 431 Pleasant St., Gardner on Thursday, Sept. 30, with a Mass at 10 a.m. at Holy Spirit Church, 50 Lovewell St. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be tonight from 7 to 9.

Hazel V. Bonk
PETERSHAM — Hazel V. (Nelson) Bonk, 91, of 141 Washington St., Gardner, formerly of town, died Monday, Sept. 27, 1999 in the LaChance Center, Gardner.
She was born April 17, 1908 in Petersham, daughter of Louis and Inga Nelson, and graduated from Petersham High School in 1926.
Chester W. Malinowski
TURNERS FALLS — Chester W. Malinowski, 59, of 18 Morris Ave. died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999 at Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield.
Among his survivors is a daughter, Teresa Cuff, of Erving.
Grace M. Osborne

Donald H. Abbey; Retired Foreman
ORANGE — Donald H. Abbey, 73, of 468 East River St., died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999 at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Healthcare, Worcester, where he was taken after being stricken ill in his home.
Born in Randolph, Vt., July 9, 1926, a son of Troy and Eva Abbey, he grew up in Randolph later moving to Claremont, N.H.
He worked at the Millers Falls Tool Co. for 20 years, retiring in 1981 as a foreman at the South Deerfield plant. During his retirement he worked three years at Ralph C. Mahar Regional High School and was a bus driver several years at the Merrifield Bus Company, Athol.
More recently he repaired small engines, a hobby he enjoyed.
A member of the Orange Gun Club, he was the Athol Santa Fund, "Santa" for several years.
He leaves his wife of 31 years, Andrea R. (Tamason) Abbey; four daughters, Donita Duprey of Englewood, Fla., Robin Casey of Hamden, Conn., Kathleen Hoctor of Gill and Theresa Cody of Orange; two sisters, Arlene Beaudry of Claremont, N.H., and Esther Roy of Charlestown, N.H.; eight grandchildren; six great - grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. His son, Roger D. Abbey, died in 1971.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 29, at 10 a.m. in Witty's Funeral Home. The Rev. Vance E. Frank will officiate.
Burial will follow in Jones Cemetery.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
